Welcome to Table 2 of my 1-10: Tarnbreaker's Trail game.
(I'm awake between 8 am to 10 pm EDT (UTC-4 hours) so roughly 1300 to 0300 hours, GMT.)
Howdy. If you're a member of one of my games, then here are a few rules I'd like you to follow:
PFS 2E rules
1. Please post at least once a day. If you are absent for 24 hours I'll send you a PM. If you're missing for 36 hours I'll mark you inactive and your Player Character will simply delay - that's not fun!
2. Under your name, please add a stat block, so I can quickly find your stats and keep the game moving. You can edit your character's Race, Class/Levels and Gender fields to include information such as:
- Hit Points
- AC
- Saving Throws
- Perception Bonus
3. What about Secret Rolls? PFS 2nd ed has a lot of secret rolls the GM is supposed to make for the players, so the PCs can't react to a bad roll. If I give you the DC, feel free to make the roll openly. Otherwise, there are 2 ways to do this in my games:
- You can say which skill and which bonus you want to apply. (Example: "I use Occultism +5 to investigate the skull's mystic origin.")
- Or you spoiler your dice roll and everyone sticks to the honor system of not opening it.
If you haven't added Pathfinder specific equipment, I suggest you look at the PFS 2 Society rules, in particular the Pathfinder Training section.
Once you have your character selected, please post this information:
Player name: (OPTIONAL. you, the person on Earth)
Character name: (the PC you are playing in Golarion)

Class:
Money: (usually written in GP)
Leveling Speed: (Normal or Slow?)

Perception Bonus:

Slotted Boons: (Optional, you can determine this after the mission briefing)

Hallo! I've got two different level 2s I can bring to this table. There's Symeon here, who's built to be a non-magic healer...

![]() |

...or Ogren who is a redeemer champion with good AC and a happy go lucky outlook on life. I'm good with brining either to the table, depending on what the table might need.

Slot boon: Doom Averted (General): In defeating a growing cult of Groetus in Cassomir, your spirit is filled with
a renewed resistance against the same prophecies of doom that his priests shout from the rooftops. When
your dying value is increased to exactly the amount that would kill you, this boon automatically activates.
Check the box that precedes this boon and decrease your dying value by one.

![]() |

Boons:
Legacy of the Gorget (General): You have made close friends in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings by
retrieving Grehunde’s gorget and the body of her heroic descendant, Hlavard. This boon has special
benefits when slotted during Pathfinder Society Scenario #1-10: Tarnbreaker’s Trail, and may have other
benefits in scenarios and quests that feature Grehunde’s descendants.
I've kind of lost track of how boons have changed. To confirm, we now can only slot one boon? And if so, if I slot the above, I can't slot any others?

![]() |

I've read the boon section of the new guide several times and I still don't understand what you can slot. It almost sounds like boon can only be obtained from AcP purchases and promotional things. It mentions chronicle boons, but not specific numbers. "General" boons aren't even mentioned.
In any case, Rhaegal will slot the Legacy of the Gorget as his general boon. Verdant Wheel Champion as his faction boon.

GM chadius |

According to this guide, It looks like you can only slot 1 boon.
Unless a boon states otherwise, you can only apply one of any given boon to a character.
But I see other boons like purchasing a Wayfinder. So now I'm confused again. They made an attempt to simplify boons with season 2 but I can't find that post or ruling.
---
Did you think up a team name yet?

![]() |

Oh, well then in that case Team Player will be Arfsnarf's only boon.
Team Player Your time in the Gravelands included many harrowing trials that required you to learn how to work especially well with your companions.
[reaction] (fortune) Uses 3 [_][_][_]; Trigger An ally fails a check on which you Aided; Effect The ally can reroll
the check and use the better result.

Unless a boon states otherwise, you can only apply one of any given boon to a character.
Hmm, I interpreted that as that a character can't have more than one of the same boon, not about slotting them. While I have more than one general boon available, I think just having us slot one from each category if fine. Boons seems to be 'extra' for the most part.

GM chadius |

Sorry for playing fast and loose with boon rulings, here. Here's the most succinct ruling I have found so far.
1. You may only use one promotional boon per scenario.
2. You may only use one advanced boon per scenario.
3. You may only use one hireling boon per scenario. You can have as many hirelings as you want/can afford but can only use one. You are not fixed in your choice until you choose to do so.

Any idea about other boons, e.g. those you picked up in previous scenarios or purchased with Achievement Points? Went through the online society guide but couldn't find much.

![]() |

- winter clothes (buys this)
- tent (we only need one for the group, someone have this? I'll buy this if noone has it)
- hatchet (will a great axe work? Actually I have a Halberd which his an axe)
- rations (have this, let us know how much if any to mark off at the end of the adventure, as I have 10 rations)
- healer's kit (Don't need this, not a healer)
- 100 feet of hemp rope (have this)
- repair kit (Don't need this)

![]() |

Rhaegal has winter clothes, rations, healer's kit, and 50 feet of rope.
He will buy a pup tent and compass. Do we have anyone with crafting if we need it? Also, Rhaegal isn't trained in martial weapons, so I don't think a hatchet will do him much good, though if it can be used just as a tool, he would buy one.

![]() |

Panarug has winter cloths, rations, rope (50 ft), healer's kit, repair kit. And crafting of +8, medicine +9.

![]() |

With regard to light, it looks like we have four characters capable of casting it. Arfsnarf has it prepared.

![]() |

Hero point nominations? Hmm... everyone has done a fine job. That's tough.
Thought about it for a while. Just for RP, helpfulness and possibly making me laugh I would say Rhaegal and Arfnsnarf this time..

![]() |

Yes, hard indeed.
I'm going to say Eltis and Rhaegal, this time around, for RP reasons.

![]() |

I vote for Eltis and Arfsnarf. I appreciate the effort they put in to roleplay their characters.

![]() |

Mindartis and Zac

![]() |

Cool, thanks! So he's used one so far this scenario, so back up to 1 HP?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

So, without giving too much away, this combat can be brutal and highlights that for 2e, the 1e tactics of rushing in to swing blindly can get a party killed fast.
It looks like half of us are repeating this, so this isn't new to some of you.
We'll want to be deliberate about a strategy, such as "obtain and hold flank" or "stay off the ice and provoke it onto ice."
