The walls of this level's huge central lake-cavern are covered with phosphorescent lichen that produces illumination equal to dim light throughout the area.
The water itself is shallow near all beaches, but its depth averages 30 feet everywhere else.

The lake itself continues to the west.

L3. STONE PLATFORM.
A stone platform extends from the cave wall here, its floor a foot from the water surface. An immense red metal panel sits in the far wall, its face engraved with numerous scenes depicting a beautiful woman on a throne as numerous strange monsters bow before her.

This red door, like the one in area K3, is made of a djezet alloy.

Djezet

Perception DC25:

Like that door, a successful DC 25 Perception check reveals that it is in fact a door and not just a decoration. And like that door, the panels on it s face (these depicts Sorshen using her magic to dominate all
manner of powerful monsters, including giants, dragons, neothelids, sea monsters, mobogos, and the like) are essentially buttons. Pressing the central button, which depicts Sorshen dominating a giant, causes the panel to glow softly as Thassilonian writing appears along the panel's upper edge, spelling the phrase "And so do the mighty Architects serve eternal" as the door swings open.

"Will ye look at this?" Bharak said, clearly impressed. "This isn't a decoration. It's actually a door." He traced his fingers along the design, and said "And these images? They're buttons! And this one seems to be the central one..." He pushed it, causing the panel to glow softly as Thassilonian writing appeared along the upper edge. It spelled out:

Thassilonian:
"And so do the mighty architects serve eternal."

Chuckling at Umazura's comment about Déjà vu he begins to row the boat, following the northern wall until the lake narrows and permits crossing in shallow water. Rowing to the stone platform, he sets his oars in the boat. Setting his weapon on the platform, he climbs out of the boat then holds it still so Elena can also exit the water craft.

Not seeing the switch nor able to read Thassilonian, Elathras nods in respect to Bharak, "Well done sir dwarf."

He gestures toward the open door with his Fauchard, "Shall we proceed."

"I wonder why this Sorshen was so obsessed with water and rowing... if she was such a powerful Runelord, why make it so tiring to move through her palace?" Elena responds to Umazura on the way there. She suppressed errant thoughts of this all somehow being related to sex. Toiling and moving through water and all. It seemed par for the course for this entire dungeon. Sex dungeon? Both?

Sigh.

"It's not even getting to *me* anymore, and my feyish part is already making bad jokes on it with the others. Oh goddess, I'm being corrupted... I need to get out of here and soon!"

She nods in thanks as Elathras stills the boat and climbs out, reading it with Bharak and nodding appreciatively over his translation.

Elathras wrote:

"Well we're not suddenly going back, are we?" She grins and pauses to peer and listen beyond the entrance. Then lacking any noteworthy disciveries, takes position behind the melee as the group moves forward.

L4. MOCHTAU'S HALL
This long, grand marble hall features a single row of pillars down its center. The vaulted ceiling thirty feet above is painted with lewd frescoes depicting giants and humans engaged in carnal acts set among pastoral scenes. To the south, the hall widens before rising up in a series of steps to a white marble throne. Six large treasure chests sit next to the throne.

The Throne is occupied by a female giant with two swamp lizard pets> When the door opens the giantess stands and bellows,

Thassilonian:

"You dare enter my throne room, little mortals ! If you kneel to me
now, I, Sorshen, shall call off my pets and eat only one of you!"

The two Lizards (Medium creatures) perk up when they see you and head greedily towards you.

Bestial tusks jut from the jaw of this hunched-over giant. It is clad in armor patched together from the bones of past victims.

Chuckling at Elena's question about 'Sorshen's obsessions' he answers as he holds the boat, "I've no idea, sadly the place is so old, I don't even know if the clichés that come to mind would have been appropriate back then."

Now
Pausing as he enters through the red door, Elathras pauses looking at the ceiling. Furrowing his brow, he turns trying to get a slightly different angle. "Are those Giants and humans, or humans and halflings?"

Raising an eyebrow as Axton explains the giant said she's Sorshen and intends to eat one of them, Elthras shifts his grip on his fauchard. "I'm good fighting her, but you can tell her I said she can bite me if you'd like to."

Present-Runelord Sorshen, Ayandamahla and her daughters Ashamintallu and Erixadallax, Lord & Lady of the Burning Bright, the Sisters of Charming & Delectation, and the Baron of Calamities, along with all slaves, servants, and supplicants in this, the Lady's Light. So if I read the text correctly, the (temporary?) Lust effect happens first and regardless of whether we make the compulsion save that comes after? Well then. :')

"Does anyone else hear the whispers?"

"I do." Elena nods, glancing around and trying to the find the source of it among the cosy surroundings of half-submerged decaying skeletons chained to the walls. "I can't hear what they're saying, but I feel... I feel-" She stops as the alien wave of pure desire suddenly washes over her and builds in intensity just as quick. She gasps and quickly clasps her mouth, then her face, her breaths growing deeper, uneven and shuddering. She blushes prettily, fiercely, making a concentrated effort not to look at Elathras just then.

But soon the sensation is overwhelming and she does, looking up from behind her hands and leaning and reaching towards him in the boat, fully intent to-! to- to...?

"Wh-what am I doing?" She whispers, regaining herself just shy of any further debasing actions and recoiling from him mere inches away, heart still pounding heavy in her chest and neck. "S-something is very wrong with the atmosphere! Be careful, everyone!" She stammers, embarassed for any number of reasons, and avoiding Elathras' gaze to throw a worried glance at the second boat with the other three members of the group...

I'm not sure if I can help them in any way if any of them fails and begins stripping/swimming. Can we reach them? In any case I'll wait to see how they roll.

Bharak & Umazura to come. If all of you make your saves then L7 is the only place to land your boats.

As the urges get stronger and stronger, Umazura narrows her eyes and cuts her focus toward the floor of the boat. Disgusting filth. You shall not poison me with your words. She continues to stare at the bottom of the boat until the urgings finally calm.

Taking a deep breath as she looks back up, her demeanor takes on a semblance as if nothing happened. "It looks as if that is our only landing spot, Axton." She motions toward the said area.

You all ignore the incessant whispers and beach your rowboats.

L7. THE BRIGHT GROTTO
Large amounts of lichen on this cave's walls glow with intense vibrancy, providing brilliant illumination to the cave and making the sandy beach along the lake shore glitter. Two rowboats are beached on this sandy shore. Two dry tunnels head off to the east, while to the west the waters of the lake widen into a much larger cavern.

Survival DC15:

A successful DC15 Survival check is good enough to note a trail of footprints that leads to the wall to the North.

Perception DC25, Perception DC15 if the Survival check has been made:

The secret door to the north is airtight and difficult to locate, requiring a successful DC 25 Perception check to spot. A successful DC15 Survival check is good enough to note a trail of footprints that leads to the wall at the secret door's location-noting this grants a +10 bonus on Perception checks made to locate the secret door.

Which way now?

Doing his best to stoically deal with his own feelings, Elathras Nods as Elena answers. At least he wasn't going mad, or if he was, they were all going mad together. While they climb out of the boat, Elathras agrees with her, "Yes, something is wrong, but we will find a way."

Raising an eyebrow as Axtons brazen response to the whispers, Elathras smiles, realizing their sorcerer was dealing with the pressures in his own way. Taking a moment to glance at the other boats, Elathras realized he hated the place as well, but for totally different reasons.

As he investigated, he found a trail of footprints headed towards what appeared to be blank wall. Realizing the prints may be the first they'd seen of the 'Maidens' they were following, he decides to investigate. Inspecting the wall for a moment, he called over his shoulder to the others. "There are footprints here leading to a hidden door. Do you think we should follow?"

"If it's the only way, yes - the sooner we can get out of here, the better," Elena answers, her voice weakish and looking quite abashed just then.

Once the boats are secured properly, she takes back her illuminating scarf from the front and follows the frontline inside the secret door, wary for any dangers.

L12 . ROUGH HEWN CAVERN
The cave's walls are rough-hewn and embers of a large fire burn dimly, with an iron pot and other cooking implements sitting beside it. A narrow natural chimney extends through the roof twenty feet overhead. On the east wall stands a huge red panel covered with images, while to the west lean several crudely made fishing poles and nets.

The door to the east functions identically to the door in area K3, save that all of the images on the door's panels depict Sorshen in dalliances with attractive humanoids.

Estele stops a good ten paces away from the door. "Wait! Whispers on the other side." She says, gesturing the group to halt as she intently peers at the object.

"Maybe the missing Maidens?" She wonders, noting the camping gear present and not seeing anything in particular hinting towards more demonic or devil presence. "Looks like they just ate, whoever they are." She gestures towards the dying fire. "What do we do? From what the half-orc hermit told us, and with the plethora of mind control effects present here, it's likely their leader was mind controlled. Perhaps the same is true for the rest as well?" She theorizes.

Pointing towards the other two caves leading to the east and southeast, Elathras responds, "It may not be the only way, but I believe it is the direction we should go." He looks momentarily at Bharak, Axton and Umazura, making sure that no one thinks they should do something else. With no dissenting opinions, he opens the secret door.

Moving through the secret door into L12 what appears to be a crude kitchen, except for the red paneled doors facing to the east. Moving towards the door, he freezes when Elena whispered about occupants on the other side. When she asks about the potential occupants being the Maidens, he shrugs imperceptibly in his armor. Answering in a whisper"Maybe?"

Looking towards the others then back to Elena, he casts his vote, "I think we should press on, open the doors and confront them."

Sorry for my silence. Wasn't intended.

When Elena theorizes that there are Maidens on the other side of the door, Axton raises one eyebrow and surmises, "Perhaps they're not immune to fire magic."

Then he nods in agreement with Elathras' suggestion.

You figure out the trick and open the door:

L13. GRAY MAIDEN QUARTERS
A long, wooden table of ancient design sits in this room, surrounded by uncomfortable-looking wooden chairs. Crates and chests are scattered against the walls, and several doors line the north and south walls between the crates. Huge red panels of painted murals stand to the east and west.

Six armored women are seated at the table, gambling and gossiping. When the door opens they scramble to their feet, drawing their weapons and ordering you to drop your weapons and surrender!

What are you doing? You have a surprise round on them so 1 action only

As the elite soldiers of the former Korvosan Queen instantly scuttle for their weapons and start threatening the group, Elena quietly begins speaking. A prayer - one of redemption, humility and strength. What starts as a whisper gains strength on every line until the air around the party vibrates with power.

"Enlighten my mind with truth,
Inspire my will with courage,
Enrich my life with service,
Pardon what I have been,
Sanctify what I am,
And thine shall be the glory,
And mine the salvation."

She opens her eyes.

"Amen."

She casts Blessing of Fervor on everyone.

Opening the door, Elathras realizes the room was filled with 'Gray Maidens.' As Elena begins her prayer, Elathras remembered what the Boggards had told them about the women. Shaking his head, these were not mindless monsters, they were worse.
