Becky giggles at Antaral's suggestion of a spanking and decides to tag along.

Some good news--It appears that I finally sunk a rank into Diplomacy for Becky, so she's not useless in negotiations (might even be able to get an extra +1 from her Employee feat). She'd still likely go the "shame route" if she ends up leading the discussion.

"But we don't want to reward bad behavior!" Becky counters before falling silent with a horrified look on her face.

Oh no--I'm becoming my mother! I'm too young for this to happen!

"A hunger strike?" Crispin says in total disbelief, "Just how stupid is this woman?"

After thinking it over he comes up with a suggestion, "Well if she's going to die of hunger she won't need her house anymore. Lets go look it over and discuss who gets which room. Eating something tasty while we do so of course."

Can't really think of anything else to do with this twit. "If you can't keep me safe I'm just going to lay here and die!"

Let's go talk to the hunger striker. Maybe we can impress her with accounts of how we dealt with dangers so far. Malcontents can spread their attitudes, and we don't need that running through the settlement when we are away.

✦ Talmandor's Bounty: Hunger Strike * ˚ ✦

The party makes their way to Andvara Jeclair's home. It's larger than many of the other homes but still has the same rough construction as all the other houses.

Her niece answers the door and looks relieved to see you. "I was hoping you'd come. Please, maybe you can convince my Aunty to eat something."

You're invited inside and see Andvara sitting on the sofa reading a book.

What do you do?/How do you try to convince Andvara?

"Hello Andarva, my name is Talath Na'El and I am assisting the colony on behalf of some of your new neighbors - aquatic elves. Our group was most distressed to hear of your hunger strike and we came to speak with you to learn about your reservations with the colony. If you are worried about security, our group has already resolved many issues that plagued the colony; my compatriots can speak to efforts they made before I arrived to help. We want to know why you feel it necessary to go on a hunger strike and what can be done to address your concerns."

If others can talk about what you guys did before my PC arrived and attempt to aid his Diplomacy check, that would be great. We want to talk up our accomplishments.

✦ Talmandor's Bounty: Hunger Strike * ˚ ✦

Andvara Jeclair lowers her book when Talath addresses her. "Your words have given me a change of heart. I'll tell everyone my hunger strike is over and encourage them to trust Ramona's leadership." Success.

Sense Motive 27:
She's being honest about publically encouraging the other settlers to trust Ramona's leadership. She also seems eager to have you leave.

A few nosey colonists followed you to Andvara Jeclair's house. Behind you, you hear her niece open the door and announce publically that her aunt has agreed to end her hunger strike. Not all of Andvara’s adherents are as easily dissuaded, but your visit helped.

An undercurrent of frustration and anxiety continues to build in the settlement.

I will nudge to next map area in a couple hours.

Mauro is thoroughly bemused. A hunger strike? In a colonial settlement? "Well, more food for those who will work", he thinks, but he is wise enough to keep his opinions to himself...

Seriously, is this actually in the book? I would expect the response in any pre-industrial era would be to let the fool starve...

✦ Ancient Observatory? (area K) * ˚ ✦

After your visit to Andvara Jeclair's house, the party packs up their adventuring gear and leaves Talmandor's Bounty. As you all are preparing to leave, you see Carver Hastings and Alba Divenvaar walking swiftly and talking. Carver seems to be doing most of the talking. He also looks a little worn out. Carver sees you and raises a hand in greeting but doesn't stop to chat.

The trek to area K of your map is the longest distance you've traveled on the island. The center of the island is too mountainous to cross so you have to travel around it. Luckily, you've already traveled a similar path when visiting Vriskirsa so the cut vines and broken limbs make your travels slightly easier. Route marked on the map.

It's past dinner when you arrive at the marked destination. The party has various light sources out to see but the sky is also clear, giving the stars ample opportunity to shine. However, unlike Durvin Gest's writings, there is not an ancient tower here. Some of the party may feel disappointed at this. Because the ancient tower Durvin Gest wrote about was said to contain a trove of Azlanti writing, star charts etched into the walls, and a still functional orrery used to chart the movement of the planets.

When you're about to head back to Talmandor's Bounty, someone spots the jagged mouth of a partly flooded sea cave is decorated with the splintered and gnarled bones of sea creatures and humanoids. This decoration of bones looks like a potential threat to the settlers of Talmandor's Bounty and you know Ramona would want you to investigate it. The decorations of splintered and gnarled bones of sea creatures and humanoids is held aloft in a tangle of netting and seaweed. Other gnawed bones litter the rocky shore around the cave mouth.

The cave mouth is roughly 10 feet wide and only about 8 feet tall, but just inside the cavern ceiling rises to a height of 15 feet.

Please adjust yourselves on the map however you like.

✦ Ancient Observatory? (area K) * ˚ ✦

Mauro casts False Life (+12) on himself and pulls a skeletal servant from the ground. The skeleton is humanoid but not human. The feet of the skeleton are wider with the toes spread out like a fan.

Asher casts Lead Blades on his Nodachi.

Antaral studies some of the hanging bones and realizes some are less than a month old and some look like they've been there for a year. The alchemist looks at Mauro's skeletal servant and realizes the bones are the same as the ones hanging. They belong to some humanoid aquatic creature but nothing you've encountered yet. Talath knows these are not bones of his people.

While the others are preparing and examining bones, Talath realizes the tangle of netting and seaweed is something far more malicious. The splintered and gnarled bones have actually been purposefully sharpened! This is actually a crude trap of sharpened bones and heavy rocks set in a bundle of netting suspended above the entrance to their lair. The rocks look big enough to knock someone prone. Talath spots a tripwire that runs across the cave mouth. Disable Device DC15

Mauro disables the crude trap and the party proceeds into the cave. It's nighttime, so the cave is only slightly darker than outside.

Proceeding in, you see four caves branch off from the entrance. The entire cavern smells of brine, sweat, and rot. The floor of the cave is littered with humanoid bones and filth. A wall of driftwood tethered together stands wedged in a narrow tunnel in the south wall of this chamber. I moved the party forward. Adjust as needed but don't move too far from the general party placement.

It's quiet.

Talath and Mauro spot them before the rest of the party. Several humans with skin pearly white, peach, salmon, or sandy brown appear from behind each cave corner. Their hair is a shade of dark brown, black, or deep green, and they have thick, expressive eyebrows. Two of the humans, the purple and the white one, have cracked, dry skin. They look injured due to their skin. All of the humans have a trident and a shortsword.

In Round 1, Crispin casts Glitterdust at the purple gillman!
Purple Will DC16: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
The creature sparkles brightly against Becky's torch and flails weakly, blinded.

Becky begins to inspire her companions with her knowledge!

Mauro's skeleton claws out at the yellow gillman, landing both of its attacks! The delicate skin tears easily and red blood begins flowing out of its wounds. Meanwhile, Mauro swings at the red gillman but misses!

Antaral throws one of his signature mixtures, aiming at the green gillman.
Green Reflex DC16: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Blue Reflex DC16: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
It's a direct shot and the gillman begins screaming in pain.

Asher, in an impressive display, cleanly separates the red gillman's head from its body. The head bounces off the wall and into a nearby puddle. The body waivers for a moment before crumpling to the cave floor.

Talath casts Bless on the party.

Ok Folks, we need to pay a bit of attention to a)other's actions including conditionals (ie my 5' step to either of the dashed squares, depending on if Red was dead), and where we are on the map (for example, we've got Asher attacking Purple above, from 30' away, through 4 pc's; I think he means blue)
