Yes it's better cost-wise for archers but it's worth the cost for a Paladin to get full damage on a smite attack with a nodachi. :)

Good thing Asher is both. With 6th level and his new Rapid Shot feat, he can shoot three times a round.

There’s a 75% chance that the locathahs have access to a specific item worth 2,000 gp or less, a 50% chance they have access to an item worth 5,000 gp or less, and a 10% chance that they can provide more expensive items."

"If the PCs request an item that the locathahs don’t immediately have, Koloshkora can direct her followers to seek out the desired item in the undersea town of Talasantri or another settlement. Requesting items from other settlements takes time, but the locathahs can typically return with the desired item in 2d6 days."

"Items that aid land-dwellers in underwater conditions (scavenged from shipwrecks or drowned adventurers) can be purchased at a 25% discount, as the aquatic humanoids who make up the settlement don’t have need for such things. As an aside, I mulled it over and decided on Many Shot instead of Rapid Shot as Asher's new feat. Both give an extra arrow, but Many Shot doesn't give a -2 to all shots in the round.

As a ranger, Asher gets bonus style feats for archery on even-numbered levels that allow him to skip prerequisites. So, they have to be for archery.

Ordinarily, he would not have been able to get a third attack with the bow and still have such a high attack bonus with both his main weapons.

His odd-level feats go to his Nodachi. The one exception will be to use the next one to get Boon Companion for Huntress, making her more survivable, deadly, and giving her the Death Roll ability.

Ah okay I was thinking bonus feats. If he's on the 'Archery' path, take Improved Precise Shot and never have to worry about cover penalties (except total cover) for shooting his bow.

That's probably his next archery feat.

The dual path gives him a lot of flexibility. He can plink well with a few out of order archery feats, and with two-handed melee, it doesn't take a lot to be effective. Besides, I have always liked the switch hitting Ranger as a fiction archetype.

Seriously? They aren't listed in the back in the NPC section? That's where they listed helpful NPCs in 'Skull & Shackles' I believe.

2 Alba's shop is still closed
3 The locathah barter but they can transport your gold to the Aquatic Elves' city to purchase things on your behalf. They can also sell your things in the city and swim back to deliver you the gold. Sadly this AP makes buying and selling a little more challenging unless the party is having extended downtime. You all could choose to do your own thing for a few weeks after this encounter or after area H if you wished

2a) Has anyone seen Alba? I guess we'll have to wait until after the current combat to worry about it but that's something we would've looked into.

3a) It can be tricky having played 'Skull & Shackles' with buying/selling. We'll see what the party decides when we get to the next stopping point.

2a Yes, people have seen Alba but she's been keeping to herself.


I added Ookra's spells and skills to the "Campaign Info" tab since she has the option to remain with the party into Book 3. Roleplay-wise, its assumed the party talks to Ookra during the long hikes across the island or in the evenings and learn her strengths and skills. (I won't make us type out the RP conversations.)


I haven't forgotten about you all. The first week of the new job is just kicking my butt. I found out on my first day that they haven't had any librarians since the beginning of Covid so I'm having to build up active and passive programming from the ground. The library I'm at has a lot of catching up to do and I'm having to create content for this and next week when typically librarians plan events and programs a full season (3-4 months) in advance.

By next week, I'm going to try to coordinate it so I'll be able to do a play-by-post during my 1-hour lunch break. I'll definitely have time this weekend for some good story.
