| GM Sedoriku |
Hello and welcome to my table of the PF2 Special King in Thorns!
Apologies for the delay in getting this thread together.
First, my profile has a quick run down of my expectations as a GM and a short introduction, feel free to browse over it. However, if you regularly play on the boards here, most of it should be familiar enough!
Second, please provide the following information:
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle):
Character Name:
Character Level:
PFS Number:
Character Number:
Faction:
Downtime Task:
Downtime Roll:
Earn Income GP:
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options):
You can calculate the results of your earn income roll using the calculator on Archives of Nethys if you need. Once you have the die result, type it into the first field, set the task level (remember the task level is normally your level -2) and the number of days.
Third, please hop onto page two of the maps and images slides and update one of the character spots with a token, and the requested information.
Fourth, head over to this sheet for calculating skills. This might take some time to fill in at first but it will make getting and rolling checks and secret checks run much faster. Feel free to use the second page to grab dice expressions for non-secret rolls too!
Finally, if you have any questions, or don't know how to do something here or with the sign in process, from making a character sheet to getting a token together, feel free to let me know! I'll be glad to help with getting you ready.
Oskar Z.
|
Your Name: Abraham Z.
Character Name: Oskar
Character Level: 4
PFS Number: 100198
Character Number: 2001
Faction: Horizon Hunters
Downtime Task: Performance
Downtime Roll: Performance, expert proficiency: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Earn Income GP: 2.4 gp
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options): No weird shenanigans. He will typically attempt Lingering Composition/Inspire Courage on the first round of any encounter. One thing that is a bit odd in PbP is that he has the Inspire Competence focus cantrip, which he'll want to use when possible to aid his allies (it's a cantrip so he can use it once or twice every encounter as long as he has a chance to recover his focus points), so that may be a bit tricky to implement in PbP.
Also, I've played this already, at the 1-2 tier. I will of course refrain from spoiling any puzzles or plot points.
The character macros sheet is great - do you mind sharing a blank copy for me to use in my own games?
| GM Sedoriku |
Welcome!
I don't have a copy of the scenario yet, but I hear major parts of it a different for the different tiers. (At least the encounter maps are, not sure how much further they vary.)
As for the macros, I actually borrowed them from a different GM, GM Doug H, whom I'm playing in Outpost with. They seemed fine with sharing so I'll PM you the link they sent me. I made a few cosmetic only changes but otherwise it should be the same.
Roumatha Esthor
|
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle): CyberMephit
Character Name: Roumatha Esthor
Character Level: 3
PFS Number: 194005
Character Number: 2001
Faction: Envoys' Alliance
Downtime Task: Scouting Lore (Trained)
Downtime Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Earn Income GP: 0.16
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options): Roumatha adds his level to untrained skills via Pathfinder Agent dedication and he has a decent chance to successfully Aid Another via Cooperative Nature and Harmonic Wayfinder, so he may sometimes choose to use this option to help others with something he wouldn't necessarily be able to do himself.
Also, as a player, this is my first-ever special!
Horatio Phillipton
|
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle): Will H
Character Name: Horatio Phillipton (everyone calls him Phillipton)
Character Level: 4
PFS Number: 171333
Character Number: 2003
Faction: Envoy's Alliance
Downtime Task: Alcohol Lore, earn income, trained
Downtime Roll: Earn Income: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 earn income, 2nd set: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Earn Income GP: 1.20 gold pieces
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options): I'm schedule to play Phillipton in a Roll20 session a few days before this will start, so my character sheet will update shortly before this begins. I also have a GM glyph to hand out.
Maximilian Pardus
|
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle):Muzouka
Character Name: Maximilian Pardus
Character Level: 3
PFS Number: 259896
Character Number: 2001
Faction: Envoy's Alliance
Downtime Task: Gaming Lore(Gambling), Trained
Downtime Roll:Earn Income: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Earn Income GP: 1.6GP
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options):
Maximilian has a Fiery leopard animal companion, Ruby.
| GM Sedoriku |
Okay, that's 4 of the 5 people signed up signed in!
@Roumatha, when you get a chance, could you add your token and some information to the maps? Also add your skill checks and modifiers to the macros page?
@Maximilian, Same thing as Roumatha about the macros. It might take a few moments to get all added, but it will make running this much smoother. Also, do you have any preferences on placement in marching order?
Horatio Phillipton
|
This doesn't change the result, but I was just made aware that the Additional Lore skill feat automatically increases proficiency as i level up, so Phillipton is actually an expert in alcohol lore!
Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
|
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle): EbonFist
Character Name: Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
Character Level: 3rd
PFS Number: 143948
Character Number: 2002
Faction: Horizon Hunters
Downtime Task: Legal Lore
Downtime Roll: Legal Lore: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Earn Income GP: 0.14
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options): Zabu is kind of a jerk.
Teja Khellekdottir
|
And with it opening up the number of tables we can play...
Your Name (as you want it on the chronicle): B Viggers
Character Name: Teja Khellekdottir
Character Level: 4
PFS Number: 100387
Character Number: 2001
Faction: Grand Archive
Downtime Task: Academic
Downtime Roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Earn Income GP: 2.8gp (8 days, is that right?)
Things I or others should know about your character (especially any uncommon or unusual character options):
Teja is trained in every skill.
She also has bardic knowledge (+9)
Lastly she has Kreightons Cogntive crossover training (on a failed occultism or society check to recall knowledge, I automatically reattempt it).
Generally if/when a combat starts, she will aim to identify the creatures (trained in everything, hurrah).

Alright seems that everyone has checked in! Thank-you for filling out the macros and adding tokens to the slides. I've added a reference page about Aid Tokens, if it's your first time playing a PF2 special, be sure to read it as they work a bit differently than in the past.
And one final thing I forgot to ask with onboarding, have any of you played #1–16: Perennial Crown Part 1, #1–17: Perennial Crown Part 2, or #1–20: Lost Legend with this character? There are some places where you might get bonuses for having done so.

Oskar has played both - they were in fact the last two scenarios I played, so I actually remember a bit about them.
| GM Sedoriku |
The Perennial Crown series, I take it? Perfect I'll take note of it. Also you don't have the boon Blood Offering from the first part of it do you?
Horatio Phillipton
|
I've gm'd 1-16 and 1-17 and put the chronicles on Phillipton. I also was unable to attend the event, so my character sheet is good to go.

I do have the Blood Offering boon.
| GM Sedoriku |
We're off! Be sure to check the Gameplay thread for the starting post!
| GM Sedoriku |
I'm going to compile all of the rewards into a table in the slides later so people can mark what supplies they took and have used.
Also Horatio, who did you want to give your glyph point to?
Horatio Phillipton
|
Giving it to Roumatha, since we've played together before.
Also, I signed in correctly, but I must have typoed in the slides, Phillipton is lvl 4 not 3.

Ah, oops you signed in correctly! The number change was me. I thought you were going to level up from the convention last weekend and then you didn't attend. I changed numbers and then realized you were already level 4 but missed changing the number back. Sorry!
Speaking of which, we are at 15 CP. (3rd level PC = 2 points each, 4th level PC = 3 points each, thus 2*3 + 3*3 = 15)
| GM Sedoriku |
I had been wondering if that might be the case. Stay warm!
| GM Sedoriku |
Quick run down of how this part of the scenario works. We have 6 shorter encounters (with a few overflow if we plow through the first six) that we can do in any order. The number of successful encounters that we complete will be tallied with the other table's successes. If enough tables complete one of the types of encounters then some boon or benefit will be unlocked.
For this scenario all of these encounters take place on the same day, and there is time to refocus, repair or treat wounds between encounters. If you're not sure on how something works or still have questions feel free to ask! This is my first time running a PFS 2e special but I have run a number of PFS 1e and SFS specials before.
EDIT: Also forgot to say something, but we need to pass on one of the Aid Tokens we have (should have done one during the introduction). We can also pass a second one. If there's one we want to try passing first, we can try boosting it (necessary checks, actions, and DCs are on the reference page.) Only one person can roll per token.

planning ahead, I haven't done a whole lot of 2e pbp. How do you want to handle secret checks like to recall knowledge?

I'm okay with you telling me you want to try and I can roll for you, or you can roll for it in a spoiler. I trust you guys to not look at the rolls I put in a GM spoiler, I'll trust you to do the same for your own spoilers. I might have to change that if there's evidence of metagaming, though.
The statewide outages are over but the lines at my house are down. I'm hoping to be back online tomorrow.
Cool, here's hoping that you can get back into the swing of things soon.
| GM Sedoriku |
I hate to do this for the first round of combat, but I might have to bring up my botting policy. For the special, as we have strict time frames to finish certain sections by, I'm going to be a little stricter on botting people 24 hours after they are first up in combat. If anyone has suggestions for what Roumatha, Zabu or Maximilian should do please let me know.
| GM Sedoriku |
Most certainly. You could try leaping as an action if you want to not actually touch the water for mechanical reasons. You could also flavor your movement as a jump if it's for purely roleplaying purposes.
| GM Sedoriku |
We still need to look into boosting and passing an aid token. Sadly we can't use a token we started with, and we should have passed one on by now already. If you want we could have four people roll for each one now and then pass them on later.
Oskar has the best performance for the timely inspiration
Horatio can provide the highest modifier for the burst of healing
Maximilian, Roumatha, and Zabu are about equal for attack rolls for Allied Offense.
And Teja is trained in all of the skills for provide Knowledge.
Teja Khellekdottir

Happy to provide a boost for.. occultism?
occultism: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Or not.

These are all of the other tables in the event. I've marked tables that have recieved a token with a * for every token. Any ideas on where we want to pass that Provide Knowledge token. Also we can pass on a second token now, but we can also wait to see if another table might need one (but we will have to pass it before the end of part 1 (March 10th.))
Teja Khellekdottir

Lets get in early and keep it moving. One of the 1-2 tables maybe., GM Bret hasn't had one yet.
Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
|
I'll go ahead and try to boost the second token for Allied Offensive. That extra punch can go a long way some times.
Jaws: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Looks like GM Hawthwile hasn't gotten a share of the love, yet.

I'll try to boost one for timely inspiration:
Performance: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 +1 if persona mask applies
| GM Bret |
**AID TOKEN: Timely Inspiration**
**Passing From**: GM Bret
**Passing To**: GM Sedoriku
**Aid Character Name**: Redd Appleblossom
Effect: A fellow Pathfinder grants the benefits of a bard’s inspire courage focus cantrip to all PCs for 1 round (a +1 status bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves against fear effects).
**Boosted?** Yes
**Boost Effect**: Increase duration by 2 rounds.
| GM Sedoriku |
[dice=Rapier]1d20+10
in case it is still needed for the allied offense
Sadly we only get one chance to boost.

We have an aid token! Using it won't take any actions, do you guys want to use it now or later?
Oskar Z.

Suggest we save it for the next fight since this one is (hopefully) nearing it's end.
| GM Sedoriku |
Whelp the horse is about to get gang piled so it might be a good idea to save it. Also suggestions on where to go next, seeing as this is likely to finish up in the next round or two.

I'm using my Dagger of Venom. Assuming it crits it needs a DC19 fort save then I activate the poison which is a DC21 fort save.
