Reporting in. I dumped a ton of boons on this character (what else am I going to do with them?), so they're detailed in a spoiler in the profile. If you'd like pictures of the text of the individual boons I can upload those.

Nah, that’s OK, Alim. I trust you.

Trade them to me?

:D :) ;) Just kidding!

I’ve found people are still using/holding their PFS 1 boons, which I guess is a sign lotsa folks still enjoy PF 1 as much as I do.

Hello! I would like to join, using my Slayer build. But would it be alright for a High-Class Dominatrix character to play? I promise not to make things too weird.

Hello Gothic_Artificer!

I see you have signed up for this game session on the Outpost IV Games Spreadsheet as our #6 Player. So far so good ;)

The Pathfinder Society (fictional) and the Organized Play Foundation (real world) are committed to inclusivity and tolerance. So from that point of view, a high-class Domina/Dominus portrayed with consideration for the other players is a playable concept in my view.

The question is how well do you think your dialogue and playstyle fits in with the comfort level of the others at the table, as you work cooperatively to achieve the mission’s goals?

I understand this can be hard to judge when playing with strangers in a virtual medium.

For example, I have been surprised to learn at the end of a game that one of my fellow players was a (real world) child. Since then, when playing PFS by play-by-post with strangers I personally consider whether my dialogue and character portrayal would be acceptable to the parents of a pre-teen child.

As you have the personal awareness to raise the issue, would you be comfortable writing some sample dialogue of how Dizzy (great name for a slayer btw) would respond on meeting a cheerful, bubbly halfling guide? (Janira Gavix, the chief support character of our story)

Just waiting on a specific scenario for my Dhampir Occultist but still very excited about it. Glad the other boons are being put to good use!

Sinary luckily has some magic keeping that liver going, haha!

@Gothic_Artificer, Also I see you are a relatively new PFS player. We have at least two Venture-Officers (organizers) signed-up, and I have played with another person at this virtual table before. These folks (and me!) are committed to assisting new players learn about PFS Organized Play with a view to helping them enjoy this aspect of the hobby.

With the game about a week away, can you please post Dizzy’s full character sheet on his profile page for me to have a look over?

There are some subtle differences between PFS and regular Pathfinder 1E. These can be found in the Pathfinder Society 1E Roleplaying Guild Guide, Season 10, a free download from paizo.com, and well worth a read.

The other thread I was put onto when I first started was: Doomed Hero’s Guide to Play-by-Post Gaming.

The first post is an excellent synopsis of gaming in the medium.

It also introduces formatting preferences you’ll find in most PbP games:
I prefer players to write in third person (limited to their own PC’s point of view)

- Direct speech is "bold" and in quotes, ie [b⟧"bold"[/b⟧
- Thoughts are in italics, ie [i⟧italics[/i⟧
- Everything that is not in character goes in blue, ie [ooc⟧blue[/ooc⟧

Finally, if your post is going to be mostly or entirely out of character (eg, asking a question) please put it in the Discussion thread.

Thank you for your responses. To start, a cheerful Halfling might simply be responded to with a “Hello, there!” Dizzy is not the kind to try and draw attention to themselves. This can go as far as lying about their profession, when around children, telling them that they are a “special entertainer”.

Also, thank you for reminding me to update the profile page, as it is wildly outdated, by this point. For starters, the original version of Dizzy was just based on a joke turned serious, where I pointed out on the official PFS Discord server how to, by the rules of what’s allowed in PFS, you could theoretically get away with a Dominatrix character. This prompted people, including Venture-Captains and official staff, to make suggestions on such a character - including using The aforementioned “call them an entertainer around children, and not a Courtesan”. Now, Dizzy is a female Slayer, based more on a dual-wielding variant of the “Dark Hunter” Class, from “Etrian Odyssey”. Needless to say, I will update her profile, accordingly.

Hello! As one of the aforementioned VOs, welcome to the world of PbP and to Outpost IV! Always happy to lend a hand and help answer any questions you might have about the format, general expectations/etiquette, etc. :)

Regarding your initial question, thank you for checking with the table first! YiM's guidance on navigating this sort of thing is solid, imo. Best to keep things toned down if you're playing online with strangers and even if you're certain that all of your fellow players are adults, it's still best to ask before introducing sexually-charged roleplay or innuendo into a game.

Speaking for just myself and my own personal viewpoint and comfort level - as an adult - your stated character concept for Dizzy would not bother me. And the fact that you've already expressed willingness to do the things I suggested in my second paragraph puts me more at ease with playing with such a character, too. Hope that helps :)

Hello People!

Not long to go now, so can I please have you place your PC tokens on the Marching Order slide >> Here <<

Also, please allow me to set-out my ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency.

If you have played with GMs like GM Ladile or GM Eclipse, I doubt there'll be any surprises ;)

Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is.

Miss is always low if a miss chance applies. For example, if there is a 50% miss chance on a melee attack, a result of 1-50 on d100 is a miss.

I roll group initiative and track character actions. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted.

You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence as usual.

If I make a mistake in the current combat round, please let me know and I will try to make it right.

I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws and Attacks of Opportunity (AoO). However …

I like a relatively fast-paced scenario. I find when a game loses momentum, the fun is quickly sucked out of it.

As such, if you do not post an action within 24 hours from when I invite you to post, I reserve the right to take actions for your character.

If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting.

Questions? Just let me know here!

Okay! I have updated Dizzy’s Profile! I wasn’t able to upload a physical character sheet, but that was because I don’t have a printer, and the nearest accessible one is miles away. Please let me know if more things need updated.

Hey, when do we do our Day Job Checks? And where? In the gameplay channel?

They generally get done here in the Discussion thread, G_A.

However, if you want to roleplay your Day Job Check, I've got no problem if you want to use Gameplay.

Hmm ... you might be a pioneer in that respect!

As for timing.

Before the game starts or right at the end is fine.

Do I track consumables such as trail rations, candles, torches, etc. on an Inventory Tracking Sheet?

Hi there, Sombra

Personally, I DO track every item my PCs purchase on their Inventory Tracking Sheet (ITS) down to the copper piece. Maybe at ♡ I’m a frustrated accountant? (OR just weird)

HOWEVER, according to Organized Play leadership, it is only necessary to track mundane items costing above 25gp on your ITS. In other words, any item that is 1 cp to 24 GP does not need to be tracked.

PLEASE NOTE: When the item is first purchased, its cost (even if below 25gp) should be included on the individual Chronicle Sheet, as a part of gold spent when the purchase was made.

Let me know if I’m not being clear.

I do track when I make the purchases but I just didn't want to fill up Inventory Sheets with consumables that are so low in cost and a chore to track.

Welcome Longtimeteenager! (another great handle ;)

I see your paizo.com alias is Tigercat. Have you met Willow Grove? They keep House Panthers rather than Tigers, but felines might be something you have in common :)

Our game has a healthy balance of experienced AND new players to Play-by-Post on the paizo boards.

At least two of our number are Venture Officers, so they (along with me!) are committed to trying to make your experience with PFS 1e Play-by-Post an enjoyable one.

This includes answering any questions you have, which you can ask here or via PM.

So let’s get to them! ;D

@Longtimeteenager, can I please ask you to select an avatar for Xabala? From the look of your aliases page it appears you know how to do that, but if you’ve forgotten just let me know and I’ll ‘talk’ you through the process.

Xabala the Druid wrote:

Easy peasy.

1. Head to Xabala the Druid’s page by clicking on her ‘Green Name’ from anywhere on the boards

2. Towards the top on the Right Hand Side you should see a virtual ‘button’ that says ‘Edit My Profile’

3. Click that button and scroll down until you come to a ‘Window’ beneath the Charisma 'mini-window'.

4. Add Xabala’s details into that window.

If you have HeroLab® or the like a simple copy/pasta should do the trick!

If not (I do NOT have HeroLab® but I do like their formatting) you can copy the Stats Sheet below for my own druid into Xabala’s window and then make the necessary adjustments to turn my Aeliah into your Xabala ;)

Unfortunately, the lowest version of Aeliah I have kept is level 7, but I’m sure you get the idea.

**WARNING** There is a bug on the site called the Post Monster that randomly eliminates ("eats") posts.

To avoid becoming a victim of the Post Monster, once you have finished your ‘About Xabala post’ I strongly recommend <CTRL><a> inside the window (control all) + <CTRL><c> (copy all) BEFORE Step 5. *clicking* the ‘Save Changes’ button

5. Click the ‘Save Changes’ button to the right below the ‘About Xabala’ Window and you’re done!

Special Abilities

Nature Sense (Ex) A druid gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (nature) and Survival checks.

Resist Nature's Lure (Ex) Starting at 4th level, a druid gains a +4 bonus on saving throws against the spell-like and supernatural abilities of fey. This bonus also applies to spells and effects that utilize or target plants, such as blight, entangle, spike growth, and warp wood.

Totem Transformation (Su) At 2nd level, a saurian shaman may adopt an aspect of the saurian while retaining her normal form. This ability functions as the dragon shaman’s totem transformation ability, but the druid may select from the following bonuses: movement (+10 enhancement bonus to land speed), scales (+2 natural armor bonus to AC), senses (low-light vision, scent), or natural weapons (bite [1d6], 2 claws [1d4] for a Medium druid, rake, +2 CMB to grapple).

While using totem transformation, a saurian shaman may speak normally and can cast speak with animals (reptiles and dinosaurs only) at will.

Totemic Summons (Su) At 5th level, a saurian shaman may cast summon nature's ally as a standard action when summoning reptiles or dinosaurs, and these summoned creatures gain temporary hit points equal to her druid level. This ability otherwise functions as the dragon shaman's totemic summons ability.

Trackless Step (Ex) Starting at 3rd level, a druid leaves no trail in natural surroundings and cannot be tracked. She may choose to leave a trail if so desired.

Wild Empathy (Ex) A druid can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills).

The druid rolls 1d20 and adds her druid level and her Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use Wild Empathy, the druid and animal must be within 30 feet of one another. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes one minute. However, as with influencing people, it may take more or less time.

A druid can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a -4 penalty on the check.

A saurian shaman can use Wild Empathy with dinosaurs and reptiles as a full round action with a +4 bonus.

Woodland Stride (Ex) Starting at 2nd level, a druid may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at her normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. However, thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that have been magically manipulated to impede motion still affect her.

Eyes of the hawk (Ex) You gain a racial bonus on Perception checks equal to half your druid level (minimum of +1). In addition, if you can act during a surprise round, you receive a +2 racial bonus to your initiative check.

Dual Minded Half-elves with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws. This racial trait replaces adaptability.

@Xabala - Howdy! You have the right idea with your opening post, but it should go over in the tab marked 'Gameplay' instead of here in Discussion. Discussion is usually where people talk OOC (out of character) :)

Oh, yes! Palo & Relas make an oustanding comedy duo. The way you portray them, one can believe a talking Panther is real!

😤

@Xabala, Willow has pointed out the Gameplay thread for you.

Hey Xabala!

Which Velociraptor would you like for your animal companion's token? :)

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a great weekend.

When you get a moment would you mind checking I have your PC's Initiative and Perception modifiers correct on this page?

Thanks!

Mine seems correct!

Hey, question! One that should have already been brought up! Would it be alright with everyone, if I made a comic out of our adventure?

Fine with me.

Liberty's Edge

Unrelated, but I also noticed how overpowered the “Caravan (Diplomacy)” Vanity is, for Day Job Checks. Especially with a character, like mine. She technically already starts with a +9 in Diplomacy (1 Skill rank +3 for class skill bonus +2 for Racial Bonus +1 for Trait Bonus +2 for Charisma Modifier Bonus). Now, she’s going to get “Persuasive” at around level 5 (+4 to Diplomacy if you have at least 5 ranks in it, or +6 with 10). Next, for every 5 Fame you earn, you get a permanent +1 to Diplomacy towards non-Pathfinder Society character’s. That means, by getting the “Caravan (Diplomacy)” Vanity (Use Diplomacy for Day Job Checks), and investing another 9 ranks into Diplomacy, all Dizzy will have to do, for a DayJob check, is take 10 to have an automatic Day Job Result of 41!

Yes, I plan to get it. But not until around Level 03. That’s how come I ended up noticing this OP stat thing. Or am I missing something?

Fine with me, Dizzy!

To answer your question (off the top of my head, anyway) your math looks legit - with the right combo of feats/skills/traits/vanities it's easy to rack up a huge modifier to a Day Job check. I can't remember the name of it but I'm pretty sure I've seen similar with a vanity that allows someone to use Sleight of Hand for their Day Job, with similar results depending on the character build.

The comic idea is fine with me as well.
