Bullying Press looks like a duel flourish. Do I get those too? If so, I'll use bullying press against it this round.

What Jisara said. You get those reactions depending on the check you rolled for initiative.

Also, due to the rock-paper-scissors logic of PF2 duels, because the levaloch rolled Perception for initiative, your Bullying Press inflict frightened 2 instead of frightened 1.

Vitalis slices deeply into the mechanical fiend, causing it to show the first emotion the paladin’s seen since it arrived: fear.

Initiative:
Perception; frightened 2: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 16 - 2 = 23

The devil once more reaches into its chest and pulls out a net. ◆ Forge Weapon It then throws the net at Vitalis!

◆ Levaloch net vs Vitalis; frightened 2: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 16 - 2 = 19

With its internal forge barely burning anymore, the levaloch scurries away from Vitalis. ◆ Stride

Levaloch (-93) {frightened 1}

Upstairs:
Jisara launches a stone at the thing, causing some of its own stony body to break off! Weakness to bludgeoning.

Botting Edrakk: Edrakk Steps back, pulls out a dread ampoule, and throws it.

Edrakk vs Thing; inspire courage: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 15 + 1 = 31
Mental Damage; inspire courage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7 plus 2 mental splash

The thing suddenly moves downward, passing through the Lucky Bones’s stone floor like it were water! It the re-emerges from the ground on the other side of Edrakk! ◆ Burrow (with Earth Glide). I have the idea in my head for how it moves, but it would be a nightmare to try to explain in text, so I’ll just describe it as “because of diagonals and stuff, the act of going into the ground and coming back up adds 5 feet to how it would move laterally.”

The thing then unleashes a flurry of claws at the PCs! ◆◆ Claw Frenzy: makes three claw Strikes (no more than two against the same target), and MAP doesn’t increase until after all attacks are made.

Thing claw vs Jisara; frightened 1: 1d20 + 16 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 16 - 1 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9

Thing claw vs Chance; frightened 1: 1d20 + 16 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 16 - 1 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13

Thing claw vs Edrakk; frightened 1: 1d20 + 16 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 16 - 1 = 31

Vitalis rushes at the mechanical devil and slices, his glaive hitting the devil’s metal body and breaking it! The levaloch falls limp. With one final swing, Vitalis chops at the devil, completely decapitating it! As the levaloch’s head falls to the ground like an empty helmet, Vitalis is not met with cheers of praise or the like. Instead, Lictor Sabinus walks up behind Vitalis and places a hand on his shoulder. As Vitalis turns, Octavio forces one of Vitalis’s hands off of his glaive and grasps Vitalis’s forearm with his hand. Apparently called a “Spartan handshake”

”Vitalis Tanessen! Your vows.” Immediately upon completion of the Hellknight Test (assuming their life is not in danger), the tested armiger gives their vows to their order and to the Hellknight organization.

Bah! You’re correct. Got that one somewhere in my brain.

Chance launches a rock at the xorn! Also, please be more explicit about that third action. I know now that you were Sustaining, but there was a bit of time where I was confused.

Upstairs:
Chance launches a rock at the xorn and impacts directly with its singular eye. The force of the blow is so great that it crumbles into several pieces of rubble!

Two-way tangent:
@Vitalis: The one main ability that you didn’t see from the levaloch is Merciless Thrust, which is basically +2d6 damage in melee with its trident if it hits you while you’re caught in the net.

@Everyone else: as for how the xorn got passed Chance’s elemental sentinel: it’s because it was always here! It’s been lurking in the walls since before you guys first went through the Lucky Bones. It just only attacks if someone moves across the colored tile room without sticking to a single color of tiles.

Chance, Edrakk, and Jisara return down to the smugglers’ den right as Vitalis lands the killing blow on the levaloch and the paladin says his vows.

Lictor Sabinus smiles. ”Paravicar?” Paravicar Khorelos moves to Octavio’s side and opens up a bag for the lictor. Octavio reaches inside the bag and magically pulls out an entire halberd that gleams with silver. He pounds the butt of the halberd into the ground. ”Vitalis Tanessen, under my authority as lictor of the Hellknight Order of the Torrent, having witnessed your efforts in the Hellknight Test, formally dub thee, in accordance with the Measure,” Octavio smirks. ”Master of Blades Vitalis Tanessen!”

Paravicar Khorelos’s smile vanishes as she looks at Octavio with sheer astonishment. ”Lictor Sabinus! I must interject! This man has only just completed the Test—”

“Do not chastise me with bureaucracy, paravicar!” Octavio interrupts. ”You know as well as I that the Measure does not list a specific procedure for earning a title beyond that of Hellknight. It is at the will of the Hellknight’s commanding officer. Vitalis Tanessen has more than shown his capabilities and experience. He is the most experienced soldier I’ve ever administered the Test to. I will not delude his, nor my own abilities; the two of us are nearly equals in that regard. And not only that, but there are but two living Hellknights of the Torrent. I am the only one in our order that outranks him, implicitly making him my second-in-command.” Octavio turns to Vitalis and nods. ”I see no issue in making that implication explicit.”

Paravicar Khorelos sighs. ”Let the record show that I disagree, but you are correct; there is nothing preventing a lictor from naming a newly-proven Hellknight a Master of Blades. But it certainly is more than slightly unorthodox. And as a signifer of the Scourge, I have no authority to overturn your decision without opening a strict review process into your capabilities as a lictor.” The woman shakes her head. ”And I’ve known you for years, Octavio; such a review process would turn up no action that would warrant your removal as lictor.”

“Precisely. Now, paravicar, please stand down from situations that do not directly involve you.” Octavio turns back to Vitalis. ”Master of Blades Tanessen, as a proven Hellknight, I present you with a weapon of the Order of the Torrent. Whether you wield it or not is yours to decide, but still leave me the pleasure of bestowing it upon you.”

Octavio passed the halberd to Vitalis. It is a +1 striking devil-bane silver halberd Inventory Updated ”I apologize for not being able to present you with your armor. Before the Lord-Mayor pardoned you I was worried about leaving too-obvious of a trail by requesting either a set of armor for the Torrent, or one not particular to an order. But I shall still happily train you in the ways of a true Hellknight. I apologize, but your armor will have to be a task you undertake yourself. Though, there is still…” Octavio glances in the general direction of the Hellknight plate gifted to Vitalis from Barzillai Thrune, but the lictor does not say anything else.

Pausing for in-character reactions.

Well its a good thing I stayed out of that net then.

Vitalis accepts the halberd reverently. "You honor me, Lictor, with this gift and with this title. I will bear them with pride and serve the Order well." Vitalis follows Octavio's gaze at the armor. "As much as I hate to admit it, if I am to be bestowed such a high title, I would dishonor the position by still wearing my armiger plate. Despite its disreputable source, I have little other options. If Thrune had thoughts of corrupting me, I will be sure to strive harder for the side of good."

Vitalis will equip the new halberd and the Hellknight plate. I'll also want to retrain my level 6 feat Smite Evil for the Hellknight dedication feat when I get a chance. I will miss Smite Evil =(.

So that would return a +1 striking halberd and a +1 full plate to the pot for selling. Or if anyone needs the runes off them, they can take them.

Vitalis finally notices that his allies have returned from upstairs. "What happened up there? Is everything okay?"

With the monster defeated, Jisara wastes no time rushing back down the stairs, Thatch bounding after her. She stops short at the sight of Vitalis's clean decapitation of his opponent, overcome with surprise and relief. She even decides to wait until later to tease Vitalis for marrying the law.

Alright, I ask that everyone resolve one last week of downtime. After that, we can start getting into the nitty-gritty of Book 3.

@Vitalis: because, frankly, the only reason for you not taking Hellknight Dedication earlier is because of story reasons preventing you from taking the Hellknight Test, I will expedite your retraining into Hellknight Dedication. You can retrain Smite Evil into Hellknight Dedication in 3 days of downtime rather than the normal 7 days.

Chance spends six days to complete his retraining to replace curse of lost time with sound burst at level 3.

He will eventually retrain sound burst to be his level 3 signature spell, but isn't worried about it right now.

Day 7: Perform a Ritual - elemental sentinel (heightened to level 4)

The gnome bursts into the ground level of the formerly-abandoned gambling hall and den of thieves, arms laden with even more incense and candles, as well as jars of spices, crushed semi-precious stones, braziers, and a covered, cast-iron pot. He drops most of his bundles in front of the fireplace with his elemental wisp pal, then plucks a ceramic mug from the pile and pours himself a cup of coffee from the pot and takes a sip.

"Bleah. Cold already. Good thing I can fix that!" Setting his hat of the magi to a jaunty angle, he intones, "Wizardy-bizardy, abracadabra, pu taeh eeffoc!"

"Wizard magic is so weird. Where does it even come from?"

The formerly-tepid coffee in his mug bubbles for a moment, then calms. Steam wafts off of it. He takes a sip and smiles.

"Can't argue with results, though! All right, let's get to work!"

Later that morning:

Whoever the next person to come into the Lucky Bones may be, they see Chance standing on one foot in front of the fireplace, juggling lit torches, surrounded by smoking incense sticks, bits of turquoise and jade scattered all over the floor, and dried herbs burning in beds of powdered gemstones. The entire room smells of expensive mineral oils and torch smoke, incense and herbs. And coffee; the pot, now empty, lies on its side next to the broken mug.

Sweat runs down the bard's face as he sings.

"Stand by us
To watch o'er our ho-ome
'Cause we need a pal
Heythereweneedastrongerelementalbuddytokeepaneyeonthingsseeyoulater
So we're never alone..."

8 hours after he started:
Occultism, Ritualist Dedication: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 17 + 2 = 21

What about the original sentinel?:
I'm not sure what happens to the first one. Ideally, a success here would just boost the original sentinel to the power level of the sentinel from the heightened version. If not, Chance will smash the fireplace brick holding the wisp called by his first ritual to release it immediately after completing this ritual (or before starting, if that's required, but I'd rather have the original still watching if Chance fails the Occultism check this time - no hero points left to try a reroll).

Edrakk spends the next week pouring over old medical textbooks left over from his studies, refamiliarizing himself with the proper treatments and procedures.

7 days: retraining Debilitating Bomb for Medic Dedication, since that's something Edrakk has been doing a lot of, and it would give me the option of taking Resuscitate later so we have a dedicated way to raise the dead (at least within 3 rounds), since we don't have a divine spellcaster to do it.
The feat gives you expert in medicine, which Edrakk already has. Would I be correct in assuming I wouldn't be able to reallocate a point somewhere else, and that this part of the feat just doesn't have an effect?

I'm not sure whether I said it earlier, but in case I didn't: Chance would have told the other members of the Silver Councilwhat he learned from Consulting the Spirits as soon as he had the opportunity to do so.

Alright, Vitalis’s Recruit Followers brought the rebellion up to level 10.

Tangent 1: Book 3:
So, I know that we’ve been screwing around with downtime for a bit, but I do need to make something clear: Barzillai’s masquerade ball on leap day is the end of Book 3. Thus, we need to get moving; y’all need to build up the Ravens’ prestige before the ball.

Tangent 2: Dates (again):
I somehow got the dates wrong again, so I have to go back and fix things.

The date was correct on the day that you fought the drowning devil.

The mistake occurred on the day after! Pathfinder’s days of the week are a different word that start with the same letter as the real-world ones with two exceptions: Sunday is still Sunday, and Thursday is Oathday. I must have saw the T in Thursday and wrote down the T day on Golarion (Toilday), which is actually meant for Tuesday.

This date is still wrong but I corrected it three posts later..

This date is wrong because I went a week from the 28 Neth (which was the date before I corrected it). The date in this post SHOULD be 3 Kuthona (still Oathday).

Likewise, THIS should be Fireday 4 Kuthona.

And THIS should be Starday 5 Kuthona.

Meaning that the date below SHOULD be correct! And THIS IS WHY I make the date big and obvious.

I know this is one of the least important things to be hung up over, but the ball happens on 29 Calistril and this entire thing was bugging me!

Starday 12 Kuthona, 4715

The Silver Council meets once more, this time at the Long Roads Coffeehouse (specifically the private bedrooms above the coffeehouse proper). Rexus and Octavio entered via the sewers into the Wasp’s Nest, while Hetamon and the PCs took the normal overland route. And it is because of this overland route that Hetamon is ranting.

”Two gold?! I’m glad I only cross occasionally, but two gold to cross Bleakbridge?! It was five silver before, and now it’s quadrupled?! Sure, there’s the option for a day-long pass for ten gold, but who in their right mind is crossing the bridge so often in a day that they would buy that?! Two gold pieces…that’s two-days’ work on a good day.”

Rexus and Octavio sip coffee while listening to Hetamon’s tirade. Rexus is content just listening to the man, but Octavio interjects. ”Well, let’s not forget that Thrune is hosting a ball in…2 months? I’d need a calendar.” FYI, it’s just over 12 weeks.

”Oh, don’t give me that crock! Extortion is what this is! I might have to join you guys in the sewers on my way back to Redroof, because I can’t consistently pay that toll.”

“Regardless, Hetamon, you requested we meet here for this meeting. May I ask why?”

“Oh, yeah. Sorry. Got carried away there. Just the Inquisitor forcing us to pay this is absolute bull—”

“Haace, you’re getting off-topic again!”

“Right, sorry. Well, you all know that the Rose of Kintargo has been around for a bit, so we’ve made establishments with some other groups within Kintargo. Well…one of them approached me, and, um, I think it better if she explains for herself. She’s downstairs. I’ll be right back.”

“Wait, what?! Hetamon, I did NOT sign off on a…and he’s gone.” Octavio mutters under his breath.

When Hetamon returns, he is accompanied by a beautiful elf woman with long, crimson hair and violet orbs for eyes. She holds herself up with a regal and graceful stature. Just as Octavio is about to tear into Hetamon for bringing a random person into the meeting, the woman smiles and chuckles.

”So, it appears the rumors are true; the Order of the Torrent has fallen into the realm of anarchy by opposing the House of Thrune.”

“Excuse me?! We have done no such thing, miss! We—”

“Haha! I am teasing, lictor! You do not need to justify yourself to me. Thrune is a menace and it was only a matter of time before your order realized kowtowing in hellfire will get you burned. I do not mean disrespect to your noble order, Lictor Sabinus. Allow me to start again.” The woman gives a deep and proper curtsy. ”I am Lady Mialari Docur. It is a great pleasure to meet those who oppose Thrune’s abuse of power.” Character Profiles Updated

Chance:
Lady Docur is the headmistress and founder of Lady Docur’s School for Girls, a private academy for teaching the ways of elven prestige and grace. Supposedly she was adopted by a Westcrani meaning from Westcrown noble family before marrying into the mostly-gone House Docur. Despite her beauty, she is about 270 years old. That’s about 60 years old by human standards.

Edrakk:
Lady Docur is the headmistress of Lady Docur’s School for Girls, a private school for teaching elven and half-elven women the tools of elven noble graces.

Jisara:
You have no idea who this is.

Vitalis:
Lady Docur is the headmistress of Lady Docur’s School for Girls. She’s a noble of some capacity, but you’ve never really met her.

"Waitwaitwaitwait!" Chance jumps up, almost knocking over the obnoxiously-large mug of Laria's strongest coffee before him on the table of their rented room. "You're Lady Docur of Lady Docur’s School for Girls! If Hetamon brought you here, then I'd give twenty to one odds that that's no more a finishing school than this is a coffee shop!" He pauses to take a long swallow from his mug.

"Well, OK, it is actually a coffee shop but it isn't just a coffee shop, and I bet your school isn't just a school! Do you train your students to be ninjas? I've read about ninjas when I was a sailor - I read a lot of exciting adventure stories when I was a sailor - but I've never seen one. I mean, of course I haven't, that's the point! There could be a dozen finishing school student ninjas right here in this room and we wouldn't know it! Oooooor, the school could just be a deep cover and you're here for some other reason. But I hope it's because you've been secretly training an army of young women as ninjas. We could use an army of ninjas, especially if they know how to dance!"

He looks over to the other members of the Silver Council and stage whispers, "Because of the ball we were just talking about, right?"

"Oh no," Jisara mutters, her tone absolutely flat, claws rhythmically tapping on the table. "I can't believe something like this could happen in Kintargo. What an awful and unprecedented situation."

Both she and Thatch perk up significantly when Lady Docur enters, both tilting their head quizzically at the elf.

"So, what's your story?"

Hetamon chuckles. ”Y’know, that’s a hell of a guess, because you’re right!”

Lady Docur shoots the tiefling a glare. ”I do not train ninjas!

Strangely enough, it is Octavio that makes a verbal jab. ”Come now, Lady Docur, he is teasing.

The elf looks at Octavio with confusion, clearly not expecting the Hellknight to use her own words against her. The woman clears her throat and regains her graceful composure. ”Allow me to explain properly. My academy does indeed teach the ways of etiquette and grace common among the Kyonin upper class, but we do have another side: I find the brightest and most skillful among my girls to train with the Lacunafex. My girls are talented in the art of spycraft, and my graduate students are sent across Cheliax, Isger, and Molthune to act as my eyes and ears.”

Octavio smirks. ”So…ninjas.”

Lady Docur sighs. ”I prefer the term ‘thieves’ guild,’ but I suppose ‘ninjas’ wouldn’t be inaccurate. Now, may I please speak without side chatter?”

“That was my last one. You have the floor, Lady Docur.”

The elf curtsies once more. ”Thank you very much, lictor. Now, I have lived in this city for a long time, and I keep my ear close to the ground with regards to Kintargo’s other underground organizations, such as Mr. Haace’s flock. And then the Inquisitor came to town and word reached me of government officials marching into the abandoned oddity museum, and I knew Thrune was making an effort against the Sacred Order of Archivists. I stopped my girls’ activities after that incident; I did not want to rouse the Lord-Mayor’s suspicions. And then a group of newcomers have some form of interest in the Gray Spiders, and Thrune suddenly acknowledges them as heroes? Well, I must say my interests were piqued. Your group has come a long way in such a short time.

“As I said, I like to play nice with my contemporaries. We have a common enemy in Barzillai Thrune, and it would be a shame for our two groups to work against each other in our efforts toward a common goal. Such a situation occurred with the Gray Spiders, and I’m sure we all know what became of them.

"And which side were you on in that conflict?" Vitalis raises an eyebrow inquisitively.

"We are constantly looking to increases our supporters. We would gladly welcome your aid against Thrune."

"So you have spies through the country and abroad. Any word of any information that would be useful to us?"

"So...with the ball coming up, can I borrow one of your lovely ladies to be a dance partner and spy at the Ruby Masquerade? We are expecting the event to be a trap, so having as many talented eyes and ears in building as possible should help minimalize whatever Barzillai has planned."

"Interesting idea, though. We do want as many ninjas in the room as we can get, don't we?"

Chance bounces up and down on the balls of his feet as he talks, still excited because his guess about the true curriculum of Lady Docur's school was correct.

"I was planning to invite Laria as my plus-one so that I don't get a crick in my neck from looking up while dancing and because I thought she might want to meet … that is, might find it useful ... to … um" -- the gnome realizes that he doesn't know if Lady Docur is aware of the halfling's own role in the Bellflower Network and tries frantically to cover for his near-miss -- "to get to know fancy people who might want to buy her pastries to cater some kind of fancy breakfast! Anyway, even if Laria doesn't want to go, I suspect that all of Lady Docur's students are a little on the tall side for me to be a suitable dance partner for any of them."

Chance leans back and looks up at Jisara. "You'd need someone taller, too. How about Octavius? I bet he knows how to dance. Or if he's too, I don't know, Hellknighty -- or too subject to arrest, imprisonment, torture, and death -- and you don't have any other ideas, maybe Haace knows somebody. Edrakk, do you want to ask you could ask one of the Fushi Sisters? Or vice versa - you go with Octavius or Haace, and Jisara can go with one of the Sisters. Whether or not people can dance is almost irrelevant; the important thing is to get as many of our allies into that party as we can manage without leaving the rebellion headless if the entire damned shindig is a trap that closes on us before we get out. We don’t know what kind of opportunities might present themselves at the ball, but we want to take advantage of them if we can."

"My name is Octavio, not Octavius. And while I do plan on attending (the masks provide a good excuse to hide myself), I must decline such an offer. The act of courtship in one capacity or another clouds the mind with unnecessary emotions; we must be vigilant for whatever it is the Lord-Mayor has planned."

Lady Docur chuckles once more. "Now, now. Let's get back on topic. We can speak of the Ruby Masquerade once the date is closer."

Vitalis Tanessen wrote:

”A fair question. For one, we would be on the same side, though that’s something of a given. My girls have developed spells and techniques over the years that we have perfected, and I’m sure your group would benefit from it. Although, if you wish for something more tangible, allow me to oblige. For one, I will provide you access to my personal journals. I have been writing a day-to-day of my life and what I observe since I moved to this city as a little girl. When House Thrune started their efforts of rewriting history to suit their favor, I kept my journals locked tight. These journals are likely to be some of the few documents regarding recent decades that Thrune has not gotten their paws on.

“If that’s not to your liking, allow me to provide a more…immediate boon.” Seemingly out of nowhere, Lady Docur produces a scroll case. She removes the scroll from within and unfurls it to show the group. It is clearly a scroll for some kind of spell, but Hetamon is the first to truly decipher what it means. The tiefling does not speak, just staring in awe. Lady Docur smiles. ”A very potent divine spell, capable of bringing life back to the recently deceased. I’m sure such an item would do well with the Silver Ravens as opposed to gathering dust in my possession.”

If anyone tries to take time to Identify Magic: Lady Docur re-furls the scroll and returns it to the scroll case. ”Now, now. We do not quite have a deal yet. I will offer this scroll, my journals, the techniques developed by my girls, and a promise of allyship. In exchange, I ask for a similar exchange of techniques and allyship, as well as a seat upon this so-called ‘Silver Council.’”

"At least someone was interested in whether I'd have a date," Jisara grumbles.

Her interest piqued by both the scroll and the potential of learning the true history of Kintargo, Jisara is the first to speak up.

Chance nods along, interested in the other Ravens' suggestions. "I'd have said through the throat, so you could just go in behind the ribs, but then again I have much smaller hands than the rest of you, so that might not work for everyone. Anyway, back to business!"

Putting on his serious face, Chance adds his vote. "Of course we're going to let her on the Council. Look, Thrune already knows what we talk about in our secret hideout, somehow, so why would he take the risk to send in a spy? This is only our first meeting. If he can see and hear everything wherever we meet, he wouldn't bother, and if he can't, how would he know that we're meeting outside the Lucky Bones? And even if he did, he couldn't have gotten Lady D into place so quickly. Besides, her story makes sense. And Hetamon trusts her."

”Why don’t we test how good Lady Docur’s spying really is and see if she can determine how Thrune is doing it?”

”And if she doesn’t?” Octavio interjects. ”Then we turn her away to deal with Thrune herself? Thrune is a cunning man who has grown up experiencing Cheliax’s bureaucracy first-hand. I’m not necessarily advocating for her assistance, but if we hinge her allyship on out-maneuvering Thrune, then it is a losing battle.”

”No, I think you misunderstood. We can still ally with her now. But have you ever heard, “it takes one, to know one?” If we are being spied on, who better to determine how than another spy. I have no expertise in that area. I wouldn’t know where to begin to look. But I bet she has ideas.”

"Ah, that makes more sense. So, what's our course of action regarding Lady Docur?"

"I'm not optimistic that she'll be more successful than we have been, but I suppose we can ask for her advice. Remember what the spirits in the Lucky Bones told me: Do not trust your eyes. Thrune sees all, even through your closest allies. But he has not entered the Lucky Bones." Chance can't stop himself from dropping into the spooky voice he uses when fortune-telling for a customer (because part of what they pay for is the atmosphere).

"I suppose there's some comfort in knowing that Barzillai himself hasn't managed - or bothered - to sneak into the Lucky Bones, but it doesn't tell us much beyond that, does it? He could be magically scrying on us, he could have infested the Bones with invisible imps, or he could have turned almost any of the people we have allowed into our sanctuary so that his apparent omniscience is nothing more than the result of reports from someone listening at keyholes."

With a dramatic sigh, he finally collapses back into his chair. "Anyway, Lady Docur. I think five of us have voted in favor of adding her to the Silver Council - or four of us, and Vitalis at least isn't opposed. Rexus, Octavio, are you going to make it unanimous, or do we need to figure out what happens when we don't have a consensus?"

Rexus folds his arms. "I still feel like this is a bad idea, but Lady Docur is well-known by the nobles, so having her on her side would be beneficial."

"I concur. While I do not appreciate her methods, she's an ally that would benefit us greatly."

"Well I'm glad that's settled then."

"She'll be coming in at an odd time. The first occasion of the four of us leaving the city since our organization has been formed. But I'm sure Rexus and Octavio can help get her acquainted in our absence."

"This entire operation is a bad idea. What's one more?"

With a consensus being reached, Lady Docur is brought back into the room and given the good news.

Benefits from Lady Docur:
Once per week, you can reroll a single Loyalty, Secrecy, or Security check (this is a fortune effect).

Lady Docur also provides a scroll of 6th-level raise dead. Since scrolls have their material components and costs baked into them at creation, I have to specify that this scroll in particular can be used to raise a dead creature of up to 13th level. Inventory Updated

Lady Docur’s connection with the Lacunafex also provides access to the following: exchange image, forgotten lines, Different Worlds, Secret Speech, Tweak Appearances, Reveal Machinations.

”Indeed.” Octavio nods. ”Trying to ally with those beyond Kintargo’s borders would be wise. If memory serves, there were two places you had your eyes on going: the aquatic elf village of Acisazi in the Dismal Nitch, and the nearby island city of Vyre.”

“Oh, Vyre is a very powerful city.” Lady Docur remarks. ”Even the aid of a single one of the City of Mask’s mysterious kings and queens would do wonders for our cause.”

“But I think it would be better to go to Acisazi first.” Hetamon interjects. ”The village is supposedly under the thumb of some mysterious necromancer and are in more immediate need of aid.”

Lady Docur nods. ”Indeed. Additionally, the elves of Acisazi are quite insular; their current plight would also be an unprecedented opportunity to get in with the elves’ good graces.”

Octavio clears his throat. ”We could also do it to assist in liberating the elves from their necromantic captor.”

“Yes, that too, obviously.”

“The issue is that sailors frequently avoid the Dismal Nitch; superstitions and whatnot. If you four were to go to Acisazi, you would need to hire someone specifically to take you there; you wouldn’t be able to really ‘hitch a ride’ from a sailor going that direction anyway. Conversely, sailors frequently travel from Kintargo to Vyre, so finding passage to the City of Masks should be simple.”

Rexus nods and looks to the PCs. ”So, what’s the plan?”

"The Acisazi are my preference, despite the difficulty faced actually getting there. Fortunately, there's a certain Chelish Captain who still owes us a number of favors. And, if we're lucky, he'll count the trip there and back as part of the same favor."

"I agree!" Chance nods emphatically, eyes shining. "The elves need our help! Also, if they really have become ensnared in the nefarious schemes of the ancient and mysterious algollthu, this could be an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the ancient and mysterious algollthu and their nefarious schemes!"
