Some pictures and history of the Harlem YMCA where Chakos is staying.

Now that I've had to chance to closely study Chapter Two again (it's been awhile), I see that while there is a story there, it's not one that will unfold at this time. It's basically the glue that holds the other chapters together. "Chapter Two" is the section all about the Caduceus Foundation, its buildings and personalities. So we'll technically be starting "Chapter Three: North Borneo" shortly, after a brief New York interlude where you can vent to Mister Shapiro about the bait-and-switch.

Chakos Hyluan |

While we are safely between chapters, I would like to point out that M1 Garands are anachronistic in 1933.
The US Army was actively developing a new rifle at that time, and while the Garand (.30-06) was on the list, only prototypes exist in 1933. Not until 1937 will the Army finally start taking delivery of rifles for general usage. In 1933, the US Army was still using the '03 Springfield (.30-06) as its service rifle. The Germans were still using Mausers (7.92x57mm(. The Russians were using Mosin-Nagants (7.62x54R). The British were using Enfields (.303). The Japanese were using Arisakas (6.5x50mm and later 7.7x58mm). Other countries around Europe had a variety of different bolt action rifles in use with varying cartridge sizes.
When the Garand became the US Army's service rifle, it became the first semi-automatic service rifle (ignoring the Fusile 1917, which was never adopted fully as the French Army's rifle). As such, it provided quite a firepower boost in all theaters of warfare compared to the bolt actions still in use by the other world powers at the time.

Hey folks! Things are a little crazy here at the moment and will be this week. I'll try to get a post up Sunday to make up for time, feel free to push the scene forward though if you all want <3

It's funny how a character grows in a game, and how collaborative it can be. Until Mr. Shapiro addressed him as "Doctor Hyluan," I had never thought of Chakos as a degreed Doctor, but sure he is! And it caused me to take a moment and flesh out his actual degrees, which I have added to his character sheet. Degrees in Biology, Medicine, and Occult Studies, which matches well with his skills.
Fun stuff!

GM Tarondor |

Yep. In the Rappan Athuk game I've just started playing, I never conceived of my wizard as a skirt-chasing muscle-head, but that's how the role-playing went and I have a much better mental image of him now.
Characters can remain stock images until we get to play them a bit, and then they can surprise us.

.30-06 Bolt Action Rifle (the Springfield) - Firearms (R/S) - 2d6+4 - range: 110 yards, 1 round per use, 10 rounds, Malfunction:100
12-gauge pump-action shotgun - Firearms (R/S) - Damage: 4D6/2D6/1D6 - range: 10/20/50 yards - 1 round per use, 5 rounds, Malfunction 0.
(which I take to mean that the shotgun does not have a chance of malfunctioning).
.45 Automatic - Firearms (HG) - 1d10_2 - range: 15 yards - 1(3) rounds per use - 7 rounds, Malfunction: 100

Enoli - please list each of the spells you have on your character sheet, including all the details. I don't want to have to go find an old email each time.
I don't really have any further secrets of the serpent people to give you (at least not those that wouldn't spoil the story), so take back the SAN you spent.
You asked if there could be more spells in the game. The game itself has a few (mostly very evil) spells. But there's no reason more couldn't be found that would be useful. Why not propose a few (with details) and I'll see about dropping them into the campaign?

Chakos grabs the Winchester Model 1897 shotgun and a couple boxes of shells! I’ll add that to my combat macros. I’ve already switched the pistol over to the Colt 1911.

Chakos Hyluan |

Shotgun test…
Winchester 1897 (25/12/5): 1d100 ⇒ 344d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 1) = 12
Advantage: 1d10 ⇒ 10
That would actually be an 04 right? So an Extreme success? Would that be 24+4d6 damage at short range, so 36 in this case?

Elliot Sorenson |

Hmm... I'm thinking Elliot will take the rifle and 'saw off' the shotgun he already has, if that's OK? The range drops 5o 5/10, but I'm thinking he'll only use the shotgun if something gets up in his face. That way the rifle can be slung across his back and keep the sawed off in a holster type deal tied off to his upper leg? Tempted to go with the trifecta and grab a pistol as a backup - though he's not very good with handguns...

Abraham Pierce |

I will likely be in the same boat with Elliot, though I am a bit of a better shot with a pistol than I am with rifles and shotguns. However...a sawed off just looks cool, right? I'll update my weapons with the Springfield and such in a little bit once I get a post out.

Elliot Sorenson |

I'm going to be on vacation for a week, and though I expect to be able to post for my characters during that time, if I go silent for too long feel free to bot me as needed. I stink with those pistols, but maybe I'll get lucky! Will try to pilot the plan as best I can in the meantime.

Minerva Ashford |

I have not been hit by a bus, but it feels like it. Work buried me this week. I'll try to get posts up tomorrow.
I hate the end of the federal fiscal year.

Chakos Hyluan |

Anyone, give me orders for Minerva!
Minerva begins a slow burlesque striptease to the music coming over the plane's intercom, which happens to be Ravel's Boléro, which came out in 1928, and wouldn't become well known to teenaged boys until 1979 when it topped the charts of classical music again, 40 years after the artist's death. I'm guessing Bo Derek had something to do with that.

Chakos Hyluan |

I filled out your survey. I've GM'd several of the Starfinder APs, if anyone cares. My Heroes are up to level 17 right now, and we'll complete the Devastation Arc eventually, having played a series of APs from level 1-20.

Now I know what I'm suggesting is considered a cardinal sin in D&D but I still think we should have some talk to the boy while another group talks to the farmers. The only thing worse than splitting the party up is going in without as much knowledge as you could have in Call of Cthulhu.
I'm willing to go to the farmers; Abraham is built for some social interaction and he can kick a lot of ass. We get some information from them, grab the young guide, and make our way up the survey.
It has been a bit and I've been sick so I apologize for being hazy on the details but our goal is to try and identify the source of the Yellow Plague and what causes it right? We also need to consider like...is there any chance that anyone gets out of this valley alive since with have a "Mythos Nuke" with us.

Elliot Sorenson |

Happy New Years everyone!
Given that the tunnels are cramped and, if we get into a fight, we likely wouldn't all be able to engage the enemy (only the front rank would in melee, with ranged attacks from behind being risky and/or difficult), I'm thinking we leave the tunnels behind for now. Let's head up the mountain to those survey sites.

Chakos Hyluan |

Power came back on today, after 102 hours. Give me the weekend to clean the place up and such, and I'll be all set come Monday.
Yep, we have friends who were stuck on 95 in that as well.
Are you in NOVA then? Stafford, VA here.

Abraham Pierce |

The family and I have caught Covid so I may be intermittent? Depends on how I am feeling. So far, pretty good but it is a day by day thing.
I am fine hiring on Abidin and moving towards the survey sites, if there is nothing else anyone wants to do.
