Critical Failures are a thing. If you roll too low, you could potentially hinder the results. But if you don't roll at all, it could be just as bad. It's a gamble.

Male Human(Amazing)

Well in this case, I am only counting the best result so critical failures don't hurt you. But I also don't need everyone to roll necessarily.

I certainly won't argue with that. Might as well throw my hat in the ring, in that case. ;)

Unsure how else to help, Gregol attempts show the hobgoblins his tactic for putting the fear into creatures: putting his hands up in the air, waving them around like a crazy person, hopping back and forth on his feet while shouting out "Boogity boogity boo!"

The concoction looks unfamiliar to him at first, but eventually a faint memory stirs of an aged elder who once smeared eucalyptus to ward of a swarm of spiders. "Try this."

Male Human(Amazing)

With Khunbish's amazing knowledge(Critical Success!), Gintka creates a smoke that billows along the floor and creeps up the walls. She includes aromatic herbs that are harmless to humanoids but noxious to arthropods, which swiftly disperses the spiders. The lingering fumes stick to the your clothing, granting you a +1 status bonus to their saves for the rest of the scenario. And I'm gonna go ahead and give a hero point to Parnes.

With these four tasks complete, Sergeant Drussem orders her squad to regroup and rest for a moment. She thanks you for your guidance so far.
Rough stairs rise to the west, and a wide passage leads east. Thick webs cling to the walls and ceiling. A loud scrape and thud alerts the Squad to the presence of something beyond the east passage. “Wait here,” says the Sergeant, who signals her squad to stay on their guard as they press forward. One of them shouts a curse as a sharp twang echoes through the ruins—part of the ceiling above, concealed by webbing, suddenly collapses. The hobgoblins rush forward, dodging the cascade of boulders that fall and block the passage. As the dust settles, the hobgoblin's faint battle cries mix with a hideous chattering noise. Before you have time to dig out the tunnel to help the trainees, you are ambushed! A pair of giant spiders crawl on the ceiling while two creatures that you can only describe as part humanoid part spider part horrific nightmare appear from hiding.

Emdi's arrow goes straight through the spider, killing it, the corpse falling off the ceiling onto the ground and heals his injured teammate. Gregol scorches the remaining spider though it holds on. Since yellow is dead Khunbish moves to flank blue with his animal companion with the latter scoring a strike. Iniquity heals himself and moves to strike at blue as well scoring a hit. Parnes and Gloria make quick work as the former skewers the spider and the latter stomps it into thew ground. Going to call the combat here.

Shortly after the battle, you can hear the Iolite Squad's victorious shouts! It takes both groups working together roughly an hour to dig out the deadfall debris to free the hobgoblins. It seems that the Squad has vanquished their own giant tarantula. While Ozaril has a vicious bite wound, they otherwise fared well in the battle.

With the abandoned dig site cleared of danger, the Iolite Squad can fully explore the site. They discover signs that this location was once a way station of sorts for dwarven travelers, but they also find the remains of ancient writings that suggest this was a hideout of some kind for an exiled religious sect. They lack the knowledge to piece together exactly when these dwarves used the site, or when it was built, but they are eager to continue their research once they reach Absalom. There is pride in Sergeant Drussem’s eyes as she sees her squad poring over their findings.

Over the next few days, you escort the Iolite Squad to Korvosa, where they board a ship to Absalom. There, they report their findings and the results of their joint training at the Grand Lodge. Sergeant Drussem thanks you for completing their field training and expresses hope that the two teams can work together in the future. Later, you receive a letter from Venture-Captain Sheila Heidmarch commending them for their successful diplomatic mission. She expresses uncertainty at what the future holds for the Society and the nation of Oprak, but is also confident that it is brighter thanks to the your successful mission.

Congrats! That is it for the scenario. I will have things reported and the links for chronicles out sometime tonight!
