Spider nods to the Vesk and follows him, as Helios-4 joins them he says
"Nice outburst you had there, and I was thinking that I am doing bad impression. Compared to you I could be considered a smooth-talker" he pats the android on his back.

As Helios-4 joins the rest of the group, Twang warns him:
"I would keep a low profile from now on if I were you..."
She then tells to the whole squad before following the Vesk:
"From now on, if you can't take your liquor, please respect your limits..."

"Nice outburst you had there, and I was thinking that I am doing bad impression. Compared to you I could be considered a smooth-talker"
As Helios-4 joins the rest of the group, Twang warns him:
"I would keep a low profile from now on if I were you..."
Helios grumbles something to no one in particular before replying: "Place brings out some unpleasant memories. Is all."
"From now on, if you can't take your liquor, please respect your limits..."
The android, still walking towards the Vesk, frowns at Twang. "C'mon furball, surely you can handle a few hot words. Where's that temper of yours?" he adds.

The android, still walking towards the Vesk, frowns at Twang. "C'mon furball, surely you can handle a few hot words. Where's that temper of yours?" he adds.
Oz gives Helios-4 a gentle "Gibbs Slap" then whispers "Shh" as the group heads to follow the vesk.

My apologies, I had typed this up and thought I hit submit...apparently either I didn't or it gave up. It never posted...
Helios’s outburst mostly seemed to slide off the uncaring patrons, whom all seem to be in the mentality of being flush with cash and new work to be had. A few gives Helios that evil eye stare for a moment, until he gets up and follows his grouip to the Vesk.
As your group gets closer to the Vesk, you notice that his armor is dark armor trimmed in silver, and that there is a small badge with the symbol of Abadar embroidered with silver thread on the vesks left chest. He nods to you and says ”My employer would like to meet with you, as he said he has something to discuss with you. Please go ahead and talk to him.” He just steps aside so you all can go ahead. He is obviously waiting for you to go in front of him. You get the distinct impression the word ‘please’ in that request was not optional….
Assuming that you decide to go there, the Vesk will just follow you, and stand between you and the rest of the bar, mostly to keep prying ears away from your conversation.
The first thing you see is that the Shirren’s armor is even better quality than either of the vesks. And his Abadar symbol is embroidered with gold thread. He nods in greeting. Telepathically, you all hear a pleasant male voice, ”Greeting, I am Philt, a representative of AbadarCorp. I think we have some things to discuss. Please have a seat.” With that he will wave to the other chairs around the table.
BTW we are on the google slides (slide 7)...and Philt's smiling face is on slide 6 next to Talbot

![]() |

Philt waits until you all sit down, at which case he nods to his two vesk guards, who immediately move to make certain you all are left alone from the bar patrons.
Telepathically, you all hear,”As I said, I am Philt, a representative of AbadarCorp. I couldn’t help but noticing you all were getting a lot of cheers when the bartender was mentioning ‘Talbot’. I am going to surmise that you are here in regards of him, or what he is currently working on? I am just curios on what your interests are in him or his ‘work’?”
You all can make a Sense Motive to maybe read a bit more in his body language and well…speech. The scenario calles out me asking for a DC 7 Culture check, but I hate to see something this obvious having a check. You all know AbadarCorp is the largest corporate entity in the Pact Worlds.

![]() |

Oz will let the others talk while he simply concentrates on the shirren's words...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
...and on what he can remember about AbadarCorp.
Elebreians can make all recall knowledge checks untrained, and can take 20 on these checks (this takes 2 minutes) even when not connected to an infosphere. If allowed to take 2 minutes to think, this gives Oz a 29 on Culture to recall knowledge, otherwise feel free to roll his +9.

_Spider_ |

Spider limps towards his chair and sits down. He looks at two Vesk guards isolating them from the crowd. He met enough shirrens in his life to expect telepathic message but he stills almost jumps when hearing a voice in his head.
"Tell me Philt, why those two muscles separate us from the others? It's not that the miners can overhear our chat by sitting close by." asks testing the AbadarCorp representative
He is unsure of what he should share with this alien.
I am leaving the decision to others how to guide this conversation. I am fine doing the rolls if we want to convince Philt to our point of view. But again I played this game.

![]() |

Helios is gonna be all for getting straight to the point; though I'm going to take it slow for the moment as well
Helios takes a seat and lets Spider start talking. He then adds, leaning on his shoulders:
Let's ask you the same question: what are *your* stakes here? No offense, but knowing AbadarCorp I really doubt you're taking an interest to him out of the kindness of your heart.
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16

![]() |

Twang thanks the Vesks with a nod before heading towards the shirren. She listens attentively to her colleagues, analyzing Philt's reactions and body language, standing back for now.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
I'll let Philt answer your questions before adding anything. I agree with taking it slow and getting answers bit by bit. Depending on his reply, maybe I could bluff our way to Talbot

![]() |

Helios and Twang, you get the feeling that Philt is curios and maybe even slightly distrustful to the group. His posture seems to be of somebody who might have had something distasteful or sour happen to him recently, or something he might have to do.
"Tell me Philt, why those two muscles separate us from the others? It's not that the miners can overhear our chat by sitting close by."
Telepathically to the rest of the group, ”Good question there kasatha. It is simple. While I can telepathically communicate to all of you, I am not a relay, so the ones of you without telepathic abilities cannot send to the rest of the party, so it is often times the more….vocal people would just blurt out questions with their physical voice, allowing it to be overheard. If you wish that we all converse physically, I am more than willing to switch over.”
”Let's ask you the same question: what are *your* stakes here? No offense, but knowing AbadarCorp I really doubt you're taking an interest to him out of the kindness of your heart.”
Philt nods to Helios. ”Interesting question. One that requires a little….narrative. About 2 weeks ago, some of AbadarCorp’s procurement team was approached by a man named Talbot who said he had an alternative Drift fuel and wanted to know if AbadarCorp was interested. They obtained a small sample for analysis, and it checked out. AbadarCorp was interested in this, as it was a new commodity. So they purchased more….a LOT more. The shipment was sent to our fleet above, and as we started to prepare to head out, it transmutated into thasteron. As you might know, AbadarCorp put a lot of faith in deals and keeping to the rules…and does not tolerate fraud. This is….unacceptable. So….AbadarCorp has sent me to deal with Talbot, and maybe Tasch.”
You all can do what you want in explaining or negotiating, but any and all RP probably should include a Diplomacy check if you are trying to get Philt to agree to anything, or to sway him to your side….

![]() |

Helios smiles a wicked smile.
Well, you know what they say: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Perhaps we may be able to help each other out.
He leans forward, putting his mechanical hand around the new glass the bartender just served to him. He pauses for a second, staring at the drink, then pushes it away with a shake of his head.
See, that's what we're here for. We know how Talbot is transmuting the thasteron. And we're here to stop him. The android pauses for an instant, scrutinizing the shirren's face. How convenient for you, right? Just point us in the right direction and help us find him, and we'll do the dirty work for you. Sounds like a good deal to me, innit?
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 lol

_Spider_ |

Spider looks at Helios and then at Philt
"You see my friend here is right, Society wants to recover an artifact which Talbot stole. We suspect that he does not know that the transmutation effect was temporary, which does not make it a fraud. Did you talk with him about the transaction?"
"How about we go after Talbot together, we take the artifact and you can deal with Talbot."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

![]() |

"We don't want to cause you all here trouble." Meia mentions. "Its sounding like we might be able to help keep trouble from falling down on your head honestly. If this keeps on who knows what might come looking for people behind this, and you all thought you were doing good works."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
gah, her voice is starting to sound like in my head she came out of a western at this point.

![]() |

Oz shows his support (aid another) for those talking by crossing his arms and keeping his normally smarmy mouth shut.
Diplomacy aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

![]() |

”Converting thasteron. That is what apparently has happened…and yeah, it is temporary. The ‘Drift fuel’ we got lasted for around 24 hours as ‘Drift fuel’. Long enough that it got to the fleet, diverted to the individual ships, and put into the storage bunkers.”
Looking at Spider Philt nods, ”The Star finder Society…this makes sense. Talbot keeps his emblem for people to see, thinking it might make people trust him more. It is understandable you want to retrieve this artifact. I honestly do not care about the artifact, it is something that is a curiosity, no more. And you are right, I think we can both help each other. If you bring me Talbot—you can keep the artifact—preferably alive, but dead if you must…. I think I can find a way to write off the loss to the auditors. Yes…. this could work. I will take my leave of this bar…I have a small room at a ‘bed and breakfast’. Once you have Talbot, please contact me at frequency 12452.12348.34.5332 and I will meet you outside of town to collect him.”
With that, the Shirren and his Vesk guards will leave via the front door.
As you all either attempt to finish your drinks, or at least collect everybody to head out a few minutes after Philt has left, you hear a booming voice from outside.
“INTRUDERS! We will not allow you to disrupt the salvation of our town, or Akiton. Reynald Talbot is our savior and is here to save our world! We know you are searching for him, so you have one minute to come out and lay down your weapons before we come in there and make you!”
After the speech, the miners and residents start darting out the front door quickly…apparently no one wants to be involved, or in the crossfire of this!
So you have 1 minute to set yourselves where you want in the bar, unless you want to go out and lay down your weapons....

As he stands up you can see that he looks like a young shobhad, his four arms seem more muscled than before and He holds in his hand a walking stick with tribal symbols. His skin is more pinkish compared to the previous grey and behind his belt, you can see a long dagger.
He runs through the doors yelling

Once the table in front of the door is abandoned Meia will go and turn it on it's side to present a form of cover if need be for the party or others who might not be able to scatter from the bar.

![]() |

Helios gets up as he hears the voice. He rolls his eyes and takes his laser rifle from its holster.
"Yeah. Right." he pops a battery into the slot. "Make me."
The android takes place next to Meia behind the newly turned table and prepares to cast a spell when the first Akitonians pass the threshold.

![]() |

Twang runs towards the nearest table and mumbles as she sees Meia turn hers: "Yeah, right... I'm too old for this sh*t"
She turns the chairs over instead and hides behind them.

Spider does some quick thinking, changes his skin color, and uses his quick disguise to look like an adolescent shobhad, and runs out the door a few moments after the last person does.
Meia upturns the table with a little help from Helios. Both crouch behind their cover, waiting for whatever is going to come through the front door.
Both of you get Partial Cover (+2 to AC and Reflex saves)
Twang pushes the chairs to the ground, and hides behind them.
Twang, I think you are still technically not prone, soPartial Cover (+2 to AC and Reflex saves), if you go prone you would have full cover (and the prone condition).
Oz runs behind the force-field partition, using it as partial cover.
Oz, you get Partial Cover (+2 to AC and Reflex saves)
With that, you all are ready for the showdown at Digger's Dive.
All of (except Spider) can roll a Perception check to hear what is going on outside. Spider you are watching from a area that the shobhad and ysoki can’t see you, but close enough that a full run (i.e. 4 move actions, or 1 full round run action) can get you to the front door.)

For Spider
As the seconds count down, you watch the shobhad keep an eye on her comm unit for the time. The ysoki seems to also be on his comm unit, texting something. At the 30 second mark, the ysoki nods to the shobhad, putting his comm unit away, and pulling his pistol. The shobhad grunts in affirmation while still watching her comm.
The rest of the group
You all wait the 60 seconds, though as the time ticks away, you almost feel like the seconds become minutes. At the exact minute mark, a loud ”TIMES UP!”. Right after that the doors swing open, and a ysoki with a laser pistol comes into view.

Helios points his rifle at the ysoki, chewing and blowing bubbles as he does. Giving the ysoki no time to drop his weapons, he fires into the ysoki, scoring a hit right in the lower part of the abdomen—proving that ‘YES’ Helios knows how to chew bubblegum AND shoot.

Helios, if the spell isn’t where you wanted it, we can move it. It is the yellow box
As per in Discussions, going to use the Bot of Twang—since it hit and did damage—but apply the damage to the ysoki instead of the shobhad
Seeing that they are flanked, Twang, runs behind the nearest beam for cover and shoots the red ysoki…somehow finding that broken slat in the bottom part of the bar that gives just a peek of ysoki body.
Misses Trick per Bot trick, but hits per Bot roll for 2 damage on Ysoki—even with cover AND Prone (was an EAC of 19 to hit that rat). Normally I could say that the bar would be total cover, but having went to a few dive bars in the south west of the USA, the way it felt was IF they are not just metal poles holding a wood table up, they had holes big enough to put your foot through (and probably had somebodies foot through). Besides this looks more awesome that Twang shot through some slats of wood
Oz rolls behind a table, temporarily obscuring himself. When he comes up, he shoots his sonic suppressor into the shobhads leg.
Since we are playing down, a CR 1 will Trick the shobhad and will do the trick damage….and the shobhad can’t take an AoO because she already used her reaction to (not) share pain….
The ysoki ambusher takes a small sear of pain as the electric shock hits him. Not being deterred he hops to his feet, seeing that Helios is the closest that doesn’t have cover to him, he fires.

Ysoki’s having swift action to stand is probably the main reason I would play a ysoki sniper….. Action is Swift to stand, Standard to fire, Free to drop prone
As much as the shobhad doesn’t like hand-to-hand, she stays where she is, takes one of her hands off the rifle, and attempts to touch the soldier.
Melee attack (touching) vs EAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Meia does her best to fight through the overwhelming fatigue that goes through her. While not able to shake the fatigue, she somehow still brings the doshko around and connects with the shobhad. The hit was a staggering hit, though Maarbadvae does her best to send some pain back at Meia. Another Will Save DC 12 or take 1 damage.
Twang can’t get a good shot at the prone ysoki this time, instead shooting a wooden lockbox next to the ysoki.

Oz grits his teeth and ducks under the table again, trying to use it to obfuscate his movements to aid in shooting the shobad...
Trick Attack Stealth vs. CR: 1d20 + 11 - 20 ⇒ (13) + 11 - 20 = 4 or below is flat-footed
Anchoring Murmur Sonic Suppressor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 vs. EAC
Sonic Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Trick Attack Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
For once...Oz doesn't sigh as his attack likely finds its mark where he wants it to?

Calling the fight here, Maarbadvae is down even if 1 damage goes to Meia…Oz’s trick attack finally does a lot of damage and drops her.
Seeing the shobhad fall, the ysoki behind the bar pops up with his hands in the air, the weapon he was using left on the ground.
If you want to interrogate the ysoki, the only thing you will find out that you didn’t know is that Talbot has heard that people were looking for him. You already know the location of the mine.
You can take a 10 minute break after you head towards the mine, it is only a 20 minute walk as is.
The bar is quiet, no music, no people. The dead shohad lies in front of the door. The prisoner ysoki huddles in a corner. The bar is yours, do you want to do anything?

Twang gets up from her crouching spot, her knees cracking as if they were about to break. She streches her back, letting out a creaking moan.
"Do you want me to make you a real drink before heading out or should we leave without wasting any time?", she then asks, eyeing the crappy bar.

Oz ponders the scene for a moment, then shrugs and attempts to do some gun-twirling to holster his pistol considering the locale... and let's try not to stab ourselves with the bayonet while showing off, hmm? (he thinks to himself)
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Mostly satisfied, he wanders over and kicks the shobad's corpse to make sure she's not just "mostly" dead, then starts rifling through her pockets for loose change or anything useful in this backwater. He calls out to Twang with a sigh as his hands undoubtedly get bloody. "Please. I have a hunch the price of liquor is going to skyrocket for us after this little tiff."
never turn down a GM-offered 10 minute rest :P

Helios keeps an eye on the Ysoki fleeing from the bar, then lowers his rifle. With a grunt, he clutches his shoulder where translucent hydraulic fluid is seeping, then sits down on a nearby bench and takes a few tools out of his pack.
"You bet" he says to Twang. "Hit me up, furball." The android looks around while still working on his shoulder with one hand. "This place is much nicer without the music. And the people trying to shoot us."
He frowns pensively, then adds with a mild laugh: "Although I gotta say I did miss getting in gunfights on this bloody sandhole."

"Either skyrocket or dry up." Meia mentions helping to fix the table back to upright.
"It will take them a while to realize this is probably for the better in the long run. Else hellsbells, how much a debt do they rack up when people realize it changes back."
