3 hours back to thr camp. You have no rope latter yet. But some kind of climbing rope is possibke if you use like 130ft of rope
GM Kulko
In the tropics the sun rises apparently always about 6 am and sets at 6 pm. So if you plan future days to start you exploration at sunrise you have about 5 hours before the heat becomes unbearable and another 3 hours after that window. Of course its stays warm almost the whole night, but without light its probably not a good idea to walk through the jungle or along these treacherous stones.
GM Kulko
I posted a battle map. Please consider the blue area as the beach below.
GM Kulko
In order to speed things up I have skipped the climbers from time to time. So please check how many checks you should make.
Also sorry for this taking so long, if I would have guessed you climb in full armour I would have sprung the Spider a bit later.
Kenderella Lefuriel
I think we're all waiting to see if the spider manages to get through the illusion to initiate the battle and/or the rest to join us so we can attack together, so I wouldn't mind forwarding until something happens.
Do note that it takes several minutes to remove armor...
GM Kulko
The Spider just acted, finding Davor(?) and trying to find a way to get to him.
You have not clearly stated that you just want to wait until the others are there so I am still waiting to see, if you or Enzi attack anything. Also there is a perception check for you to make.
Davor could make his Will check and start peppering it with arrows.
Gregor has not repondeded in a while so he is missing some climb check, and since there are other things going on I did noch want to make them for him.
As for Hewit and Kerndrew:
I was under the impression that they had removed their armour already waiting to climb up when the fight started. Kerndrew was actually reflecting on it. In that case they would have been standing at the bottom of theope without armour. But apparently they thought otherwise and decide they had never taken of their armour.
Since this is to your disadvantage I let it stand but I shouldn't have done that. Since now it means they won't take part in the fight unless things go really badly.
Overall I think I should have communicated a few things more clearly. Will try to fix that going forward.
Kenderella Lefuriel
Oh, I missed the last post on the previous page, so sorry :(
Father Kerndrew
As for Hewit and Kerndrew:
I was under the impression that they had removed their armour already waiting to climb up when the fight started. Kerndrew was actually reflecting on it. In that case they would have been standing at the bottom of theope without armour. But apparently they thought otherwise and decide they had never taken of their armour.
Yes, Kerndrew was planning on climbing without armor and drawing the armor up after, but it seemed to me that the spider attack came on all of a sudden, and he had to make a choice to climb with the armor or to take it off first. Since it takes minutes to take armor off, and leaving it on would slow him--but only by a matter of rounds, not minutes--it seemed the quickest way to respond would be to just start climbing.
GM Kulko
Well it also takes minutes to climb the wall for Davor and I would assume you wouldn't have been standing below doing nothing.
Looks like I should have described the setup in more detail. Since the goal is to get people up the cliff I am fine with revising the progress and assuming hewit and kerndrew come up in plain cloth.
GM Kulko
Wow the spider rolled two consecutives crititcal failures on trying to tremorsense you, and then a 19 on the last will save before she turned away.
Kenderella Lefuriel
@Davor: You could move to flank with Enzi to get +2 to attack and sneak attack.
GM Kulko
@Davor
What happend was the following. Also note the bold parts you forgot to do these(they were inside the spoiler).
The spider moved in to attack.
You readied attack (the Attack where you rolled 7) missed.
The spider finished its turn attacking you.
The spider hit you
You need to roll a ST vs Poison
If you fail to make it you are poisoned and take the described effect.
Now the new turn starts, everybody gets to act, including you.
You hit the spider (the Attack where you rolled 15)
You also need to do your second ST vs. Poison if you failed the first one.
Davor Krill
Got it and done. -1 to the damage for 9 Str! I hate poison!
Could have been worse though.... Could have been Con damage!
Kenderella Lefuriel
Strength damage is kinda wierd, you don't actually take any penalties until you've taken 2 damage.
GM Kulko
Never seen it played that way and in my opinion its one of the worse rules written, but it is written, so if you want to play it like this I am fine.
Davor Krill
That's a new one on me. But it means my attacks aren't shorted the point....
Kenderella Lefuriel
Given that Davor haven't actually said anything. Is it possible to see that he has been poisoned?
The current situation reminds me of this.
GM Kulko
Well given that its a spider and he has trouble keeping the weight on his bitten leg, you have a strong hunch that he has been poisoned. As to the fact that the poison is still active thats hard to know, but in a PbP I wouldn't overestimated the fact that Davor has not talked about something like this.
GM Kulko
Concerning your question for about Knowledge, do I understand the rules correctly?
The DC is 10+CR so higher than 10 there only trained people can try the check.vCurrently thats only Gregor who has failed already, so the party does not know more.
There is a bard and various other people down in the camp who you can ask, either now (taking another 15 minutes at least) or later in the evening.
Apart from that you can assume common knowledge about spiders and you know already that it is poisonous.
Kenderella Lefuriel
You understand the rules correctly, for most monsters you need to be trained to identify them. For common things the DC is 5 + CR, so we might still be able to identify such creatures (though the rules don't define what is common).
As I mentioned previously our party has a real problem with knowledges. We have no investigator, inquisitor, bard, alchemist or int-based caster. Our low point buy makes this problems worse as we don't have much points to spare on intelligence (most APs are made with the expectations of 20 point buy). Even if someone is trained in a knowledge skill they won't have a very good chance at success. Usually you also want to beat the DCs with several multiples of 5 to get to know enough useful information to get help to defeat the enemies.
I'll probably put a point in my class skill knowledges eventually, but I don't have much skill points to help out with.
GM Kulko
UNless anybody intervenes I will forward to the night in my next post (probably tomorrow)
Kenderella Lefuriel
I think it's best to swap the NPCs around so Sasha doesn't do hunting.
GM Kulko
As yesterday, feel free to have discussions with the other passengers, assign camp tasks and tell me what the plan for todays expedition is.
Also I would like a survival role from the people responsible for finding the best possible way.
GM Kulko
Aerys is the lady with the Alcohol problem, although otherwise she is holding up reasonable well.
In general all the NPCs have a morale showing their ability to do meaningfull work. IT is changing based on events and saving throws. Currently its pretty mixed, with Sashas having a beter day, but Ishirou having it really rough.
Also everybody has an Attitude towards the group showing his willingness to work together. As far as you can see the attitutde is at least okay for all NPCs.
Davor Krill
Wow! How did spell check/mangle change figures to futures? Oh well....
Father Kerndrew
Father Kerndrew should probably take up a rear position while other, more stealthy, PCs lead an approach. He should hang back until the noise of his approach doesn't matter anymore.
GM Kulko
OKay gregor you are artially right, I checked back and found 1 vote each (davor vs. gregor). If the group wants to go somewhere else please tell me.
Kenderella Lefuriel
I want to follow the trail from yesterday and get as far away as we can possibly get to explore as much as possible. I don't know if that aligns with any of the other options or not.
GM Kulko
Hi,
this is the kind of situation I meant when I suggested finding a efficient decision process.
In the current game phase, the taskis to explore the island and find the lots of interesting things there are to find. They are in all possible directions and due to the jungle nature there is not much to go by.
In that situation it does not really matter where you want to go, but discussing it for ages probably saps the fun out of it for all of us.
Therefore if you don't care, thats understandable, there is not much to care. But please just roll a dice or decide on haircolor which suggestion to follow and support one.
Also for situations like this I suggest to find a quick way to communicate this. The majority had suggested using Discord but nobody answered when I asked for a bit help how to create a private discussion channel there. We don't need to do this, but I find our chat helpful ion my PACS games, when we need to decide medium impact decisions while all in different timezones. I cannot always post while on work, but I can write a short oneliner in a chat easy.
Alternatively you lot could handle a list of possible short term goals or exploration targets in your journal and everybody leaves a vote there.
I also once more want to implore you to keep your own notes in the journal. There are lots of small subplots on this island and if you don't write something down, you will probably forget them given the lengthy timeline of PbP.
I do not see this as my job to remind you constantly what Aerys asked you to do or what you learned in detail about Ieana. I also believe that this will help to remember who was who and what they cared about.
GM Kulko
As for the current question:
You have foillowed the jungle path as far as you got yesterday and are then facing two options:
A) Go South ot the other shore of the penninsula and the bay and check if you can see something interesting once there.
B) Go east to the top of the cliff where you saw the wreck and the dimorphodons and seeif you can learn interesting things there.
Furthermore you will be facing the following decision soon:
X) turn back to the camp after the midday break.
Y) Keep on walking and spend the night in the jungle to get farther.
And third until you decide otherwise, I will always assume that you have a break during the hottest hours like you did yesterday.

Using discord sounds like a good idea. Just create a server and send us all a link so we can join :).
As for how to create: There should be a + button at the bottom of the server list where you can click to create a new server for this game.
Father Kerndrew
I don't use discord much; I'll probably need some handholding. I know it primarily as a voice chat thing for video games; I'm not sure really how it works for our game....
Gregor Kardoff
I don't think dischord will help without designated times to talk and as pbp is it won't be manageable.
It's more we prioritizeor agree something like this.
Day 1 krndrellad
Day 2 favor
Day 3 Gregor etc...
Or today krndrellad chooses direction and activities
Then next day favor chooses
By doing it this way it'll always be apparent who chooses and there won't be a case of we didn't do what I wanted...sounds good?
GM Kulko
Well lets try both I suggest. The discord server can be reached under
https://discord.gg/aqXQhD
From my experience it sometimes helps to formulate short term plans or have clarifications which you don't want to spend days discussing in character. and since its an app on your phone you can check it during the day and reply in aoneline while driving public transport or queueing ant the super market. where you would not take the time to post a full post.
As for the current question we now have two votes for the dimorphodon lets stick with that and please join Kerndrew in approaching the cliff. Who wants to approach stealthily who wants to hang back? Who wants barge in like an elephant?
Kenderella Lefuriel
I use discord a lot, but I pretty much never use the voice functionality. It's also great to be able to chat back and forth in text in a more real time format.
Davor Krill
To speed this up.... I vote for Kenderella to give us a direction/make the decision for this part of the game, exploring.
She said to go to the end of what we had cut, then continue in ?? direction. (Toward the Dimorphodon nest(s)? and across from the shipwreck that is offshore?)
Any opposed?
GM Kulko
Davor grins at Father Kerndrew's comment. "As a group I don't think anything won't notice us coming. The only time we might be able to move quiet will be when the main group of us stops and just the couple of us that can move quiet scout ahead. And realistically, as dense as the woods are here, even that isn't likely to be quiet...."
That is definitely not true. Gregor, Davor and Enzi definitely have a chance to get near the cliff without being noticed. Even Kenderella might get there if she rolls well. But Kerndrew no chance.
@ Kendrella: I forgot to answer on your conversation with Ishirou, I still plan to do that but I only ever remember when I dont hve the time to compose something.
@ Kerndrew If you want to replay some camp discussion while the others get eaten just tell me, I hink there were someone you wanted to talk to in more detail earlier on.
GM Kulko
@ Gregor, Davor, Retreat to the others and trying to avoid the fight definitely seems to be an option. The bird might leave you alone or it might pursue you, you would have to find out.
GM Kulko
I have added a Enlarged view of your local surooundings hoping it helps.

Sorry my delay ladies and gents. Work crushed me the last week or so, and then yesterday was a medical issue in my household. Yeah pandemic! I am catching up tonight and should have a post up shortly.
Davor Krill
I'm asking how far down the nest is because I'm thinking about dropping a net on it if we happen to surprise them. I still don't think there'd be much meat on them, but if we get desperate for meat.... ??
Gregor Kardoff
so I have a thought.
As Much as I hate the thought of splitting the part.
This might be a time where it could work in our advantage. Lets take a non-exploration day.
The party less Gregor, with Sasha goes back the same way we went and goes back to the nest to look when its safe. then heads back...the group could take a circutous route back and explore a couple hexes to the north west along the peninsuela on the way back.
Meanwhile Gregor will look for those berries for Aerys, that she mentioned a while ago and do the hunting task for the day. Jask can do medical. gelik entertainment. Isharou guard. leaving the defense improvement to noone for the day.
this might improve Sasha's thoughts of being part of the group...and getting the berries might do the same for Aerys
GM Kulko
If you follow this plan I would keep this days relatively concise to keep things interesting for everybody. Or do you want to roleplay being on the hunt?
GM Kulko
I will be on holiday starting friday morning for 10 days (21st to 30th).
I will be able to read posts and maybe write something on the first and last day, but for most of the time, I think the game will have to be on hiatus.

A hiatus is fine with me. APs are a long-haul anyway (I'm in one now that's been running for 3+ years!), no need to rush.
GM Kulko
Remembering something that was brought up earlier she says. "I can actually use my magic to talk to animals. But I'm unsure how much we'll get out of it. They aren't exactly intelligent. Maybe we can get them to tell us about predators or areas to stay away from though." She poders.
What Ability are you refering to? Dimorphodons are a lot smarter than sea scorpions, so I want to check beforehand how they would react.
GM Kulko
Not sure if there is anything you want to do before the night.
Will push forward tomorrow to give you time to decide.
