Any chance these bizarre cats will hunt the caravan for revenge?

Cillian

He keeps his focus to the rear as they make their way back to the camp. "They could...wolves have been known to track intruders well past their territorial grounds...not sure but I wouldn't put it past them, my friend."

Børak wrote:

As they were preparing to leave, Børak nods as Cillian thanks him for the animal parts. Scoffing when he hears men make powders of animal parts and drinks them. "They should know the only way to get the power of the beast spirit is to eat the heart hot and still beating. Dried up like that it's no good. The power is in the blood." Pointing to the teeth, "and they will make a fine trophy to show your whelps, may you have many wives and children."

Turning as Shang comments about his wounds, Børak raises an eyebrow at his friends self-depreciation, because the easterner was usually very confident. Slapping his sword brother on the back, "The scars will remind you to be faster."

Knowing Isa is very careful to hide her magical abilities he is surprised to see Isa using magic in front of their new allies, He turns and watches them carefully for a reaction. Then continues leading the team away from the copse of trees.

When Shang asks if the cats would hunt the caravan for revenge, Børak, looks to Cillain then comments. "We should tell Dinak or at least Tizam what happened," Silent for a piece Børak stewed over the earlier concerns about the two black wolves, shaking his head, he turns to Rimas then Vadim. "You both fought well what are your plans after we return to Dipur?"

It seems that Isa waited to do what she did with Shang when neither were paying attention to the group. It doesn't appear they noticed but Rimas seems to be giving Isa a wider berth.

Isa

She turns to the group and looks them over. "I should tend to your wounds Cillian and yours as well Rimas...before they fester."

She looks at her companions for their reactions... I should have been more careful...it is not wise to call forth those powers in the company of strangers. Isa can see that Rimas has put some distance between her and Isa and she has not looked at her since the clearing but otherwise nothing. She probably saw or heard me...had to.

He picked up on Isa's worry but had not idea as to what it was about.

It is clear that Rimas is not sure what to make of Isa the moment. She is standoffish with the women and as even made it a point to keep several more paces away from the three of you. Cillian on the other hand doesn't seem to notice or mind... But you realize that what Isa did was directed towards Rimas, who probably noticed the effect on the cats, where as Cillian was not near Isa.

Isa seems to have noticed this as well.

Moving south the group comes to the wooded clearing and can see the encampment. It appears they have all the wagons circled. The horse, sheep, and elephant are in a corral of sorts made with rope and tree branches stacked in threes and staked into the ground. The horses are lined and the sheep are on one side and the elephant is lined and on the other side of the horses. There six open iron standing braziers with wood in them ready to be lit when night falls. Guards have already been posted it appears.

As the group moves from the woods into the clearing and towards the circle of wagons Cillian stops for the entire group to come together. Cillian waits for Borak to step towards him.

"Made it back..."

As Borak walks up to him he can see two of Dinak's men stand guard. In the middle is two more braizers that are splitting the circle set up and ready to be lit. There is a cooking fire by the cook's wagon going.

There is a very nice looking tent sitting in the middle of the circle as well. The sides are rolled up and you can see that rugs and pillows have been set up and you see what only can be Hadramas sitting on the pillows and enjoying the company of two of the slave girls as he drinks wine and eats.

Did either Rimas or Vadim say what they were doing after this gig? Which two guards are standing guard. Can Børak recognized the two slave girls from here, Does he see either Dinak or Tizam or Gunnar or Asur?

Taking in the layout at a glance Børak is not surprised that guards have already been posted without and within, giving a wolfish smile, 'Dinak is a thorough one, and his men are well drilled. I wonder how well they fight.' Seeing Cillian stop Børak moves near, nodding, "So we have." He looks around the camp, first taking in large tent in the middle, the braziers, the guards, the girls and finally their employer.

He looks around for a moment, first for Dinak or his sergeant, then remembering the earlier discussions he looks for the two black wolves, Gunnar and Asur. Turning to the others, "We should report to Dinak, shall we go as a group, or shall I do it while you all tend to your wounds?"

Rimas

She walks up last as the rest of the group clears the woods. Hearing Borak she quickly says..."I can walk with you while the rest tend to their wounds." Borak looks at her and can see she is wounded as well but she seems to have no interest in having them tended to at the moment.

I'll take Isa's help and a feed I'll think. Let me know how your report goes Børak and I'll grab you a meal in the meantime so it's waiting for you when you get back.

Isa

With Shang's words Isa looks relieved. It is subtle and probably being overlooked by Cillian and Rimas but Shang can see that Isa is concern with Rimas.

"I can go with Shang and patch him up. Cillian I can do the same for you as well." She turns to Borak and Rimas. "I can looks at those wounds for the both of you as well when you get back."

Cillian

The man nods at Isa's words. "I am fine with that. Could use some drink and food myself." He pulls the sack with the head in it and tosses it to Borak. [b]"For our Captain."[b]

She shrugs after thinking about it a moment. "I had not thought about it Hillman..at least nothing set in stone." She looks to Cillian who seems to shrug and nod. "We had spoke about heading to Khazabad the Zul-Bazzir and maybe back again towards Dipur. Cillian suggested we head to Susrah and into Taraam...neither of us have been to those lands."

Borak looks over the encampment and his eyes go to the decadent travelling tent. He sees 2 Pictish male slaves standing in ready attendance to Hamadras not three or four paces away from him. He sits on a dozen or so large pillows that are on a large thick rug. By him lay two slave girls, the Taikangian girl and the Adartani girl both seem to be topless and have the full attention of the slave master as he enjoys is wine and fruit.

The young man Uzir, or maybe it is Fasa, stand in the tent facing outward as bodyguards to the man.

Gunner and Asar are set up as guards on the far side of the circle facing the caravan road. They might be fifty feet apart are so with Asur to the west and Gunner to the east. Both of them have their backs to you as they pace the perimeter.

You don't see Dinak but you see Tizam in the middle of the circle and the man seems to notice you...he is a perceptive man...always scanning the area around himself. He waves you in and starts to make his way towards you. He calls out..."The scouts are back! Pass that on to Dinak if you see him!"

Shang limped to the cook as he broiled salted pork and lentils and busied himself with laying out dough strips in preparation for baking next to the coal bed.

Ho there good master, how long until even meal?, Shang hailed the man.

Ready when it's ready, he said sullenly before looking up. Seems like you're not having your best day, the cook said after a moment. Reach in that sack over there for a handful of dates to tie you over in the meantime.

My thanks, Shang replied before taking a double handful. May as well take some for Isa and Børak, he thought as he shuffled over to where Isa was laying out the tools of her trade on a blanket.

He put some on a clear space next to a pot of salve and sat awkwardly in front of her.

Be gentle mistress, he said with a chuckle, and started to munch down on one of the fruits.

Listening to Rimas and Cillian answers as the walk back to camp, pausing to wipe away the scent of their tracks. Borak, nods wondering that they would rather keep moving around seeing new places. He wasn't sure what his band should do. His main goal was to earn wealth and reputation. Staying in Dipur seemed to have it's positives and negatives. Though he had heard there was great wealth to the south to be earned. Nodding to the others as the group splits up, Børak notices taht Rimas would rather stay with him. Not so flattered that he thinks it's just because she's attracted to him, he had noticed her avoiding Isa, after the show of magic. As he and Isa head to the interior of the camp, he continues talking. "Isa had mentioned about traveling to Susrah and Taraam. Like you, she has never been there." He looks at Rimas, "You and she may have a lot in common." He Shrugs. "I certainly trust her with my life."

As they head towards Tizam, Børak notes the two 'Black Wolves' locations, intent on speaking to them before the night was over. Making a mental note of which girls were with Hamadras. Double checking the which of the young men, Uzir or Fasa was near their employer, he also intended to have along conversation with Faza. Nearing Tizam, he hands the second in command the bag, Patting the pelts slung over his shoulder. "Found a pride of spotted cats but no men. Killed several cats heard many more deeper in the copse of trees. We should keep the fires bright to drive them off."

Will taking 10 (18) on perception identify which is guarding Hamadras?

Isa

Shang, Isa, and Cillian find a place to lay their equipment. Isa begins looking at Shang's wounds and then asks Cillian if she can do the same. He doesn't seem to object and she goes to work inspecting the damage done by the cats. "These are not friendly and this is going to hurt a bit. I will wash them and tend to them as is my custom and duty." She lays out what seems to be some sort of thread, several types of needles, clean cloth rolled up in strips and tied and well as what looks like some sort of moss or lichen and a few other things that Cillian had never seen before but Shang had many times on his travels with Isa especially since he helped her scrounge for those materials a few time to replenish her supplies.
She puts a small pot filled with water on the fire and lets it boil then drops a bit of those herbs it it. As it boils she begins to clean the wounds and inspect them. It hurts...

This will take 1 hour for each person. 2 total for Shang and Cillian.

Heal TDW check for Shang DC20: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Heal TDW check for Cillian DC20: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

after the first hour of work on Shang she managed to get the wounds cleaned up and stitched. 3 hp healed.

However, Cillian's wounds are bit worse and it looks like it will take a bit more time for those to heal. She tells the man he will need to rest through the night to start healing properly.

Heal LTC check for Cillian DC15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Rimas

Outside of camp..."She may...she may not." She looks over to Isa and lowers her voice. "What she did to that cat it is not natural. I know you trust her; hell you might even be bedding her but I felt that...what ever it was was over me as the cat fell. Only the gods and dark creatures have those powers..." Her words trail off...as she ponders your words. "You trust her with your life and it is clear Shang does as well but I am not sure I have much in common with her."

She walks with Borak towards Tizam and giving the man the bag he seems to check it's weight and then opens the bag. Looking at the head and the to the two of you and the rest of the group. Tizam says "Ill omen that is those cats are territorial and I don't recall ever having a problem with them near these woods. Good to know and we will add to our watch tonight and make our fires stronger. Get some food and some rest."

Uzir and Fasa are inside the tent but on the edge facing outward giving the man some privacy but close by. Currently with the day light left there are four guards on the perimeter two of which are Gunner and Asar. The other two men on the wooded side are hard to tell but you think they are the men called Almar and Zema.

earlier with Rimas
Chuckling when Rimas says he may be bedding Isa, Borak shakes his head. "That is not our relationship as of yet." Stopping before they get to Timaz, far enough away from everyone to make sure they aren't overheard. He looks at Rimas "But what you have in common? Your both fighters and survivors. You were both taught to use the gifts you have to to make that possible. You both stand on your own two feet, sometimes with the help of friends." He shakes his head thinking of his own 'unnatural powers.' "Whether they are dark powers or no, I know not. But some would say the same about me. So who am I to judge?" He then gives her a grin, somewhere between boyish and wolfish. "And you both share in the femininely wiles that all men consider dark magic."

with Timaz
Nodding Borak asks, "I would still like to speak with Dinak, do you know where he is?" As he turns he gestures over towards the large tent. "And how soon will Faza be off duty?"

Cillian

She watches Isa as she tends to both Shang and himself. He doesn't feel any better but he appreciates the time that Isa has spent.

As she tends to both men he eats the dates that Shang provided and looks over the camp and his newfound friends.

"I appreciate the care to my wounds Isa. I don't know how you and Rimas did it but it was luck indeed that the best that tried to sneak up on us fell to Rimas blade. She claimed you made the best fall and she only put it down after fell but I am not sure how that happened but that is the luck of battle I suppose?"

Rimas raises an eye at Borak's comment. "Yet...that implies a desire to do so...you might be bewitched Hillman." She smiles at the gest as it comes from her lips. "I don't know much about the Women of land of Tomb and Secrets but I her they are people haunted by ancient sorceries. Best to be careful..."

They come up to Tizam. The man seems to look the two of you over closely. "A hunting pride...that is an ill omen. You need to get cleaned up but Dinak is with the herders. You can find him over there and Faza should be done in a few hours when our master grows tired and falls asleep."

Shang was happy to lay back after the stitching, slightly euphoric after the seeds Isa gave him to dull the pain hadn't worn off yet.

I feel up for a meal but at the same time I just couldn't be bothered moving, he said placidly.

Earlier with Rimas
Raising an eyebrow at Rimas' comment implying 'desire' equals 'bewitchment.' He paused for a moment thinking. Did he have a desire for Isa? More than any health young man desired a healthy attractive woman. No not really, She was beautiful and smart; but did not stir him beyond the way one would recognize a prize horse or finely crafted weapon. He had always been cautious with women who he had a 'working' relationship with. Always letting them make the first move. Always being clear with them where he stood on monogamy and long term relationship. Besides there were always plenty of woman available. He returns his gaze to Rimas giving a flirtatious smile. "If desire is the proof of witchcraft, it isn't only the women from the land of Tombs and Secrets I need to be warry of." Holding his gaze towards Rimas for several seconds, he eventually nods towards Tizam and begins walking that way.

With Tizam
Looking towards the herders, he turns back towards Tizam. "An ill omen indeed. Before I clean up I will report to Dinak." He begins to head towards the flocks, then turns and asks Tizam. "Out of curiosity how long has Dinak worked for Hamadras?"

After stepping away from Tizam, Børak turns to Rimas, "Tizam is right, we will need to get cleaned up. I'm happy to handle reporting to Dinak myself if you desire to rejoin the others." Whether Rimas joins him or not, Børak begins making his way towards the herdsmen. Keeping a keen eye out for Dinak and anything out of the ordinary.

Tizam looks to the direction you came from out of the woods and back to the two of you as Borak finishes his questioning. "For a few years now." He turns back to the woods and seems to scan the area around the wagon on that side of the circle. "I should get more fires up around that edge before night fall."

He walks off to that direction then turns. "Get cleaned up and get some food in your bellies. We might need you tonight!"

Tizam doesn't appear to have any alternate motives at the moment and his head is clearly in defending this circle. There was no sign of deception on his face or in has behavior that would suggest otherwise.

You can see he is standing with the herdsman as they tend and secure the flock. They seem to be talking; two of the men and Dinak and pointing to the flock and laughing about something.

Rimas

She nods and then seems to fall into line with Borak. "I need to work on my witchcraft...so I will tag along." She gives a quick glance back at the Hillman and then continues to walk. "Do you expect those devils back tonight or is this just us banging our shields to stay up all night?" She seems to laugh that off as if she has done that many times in the past. Borak had heard that many professional armies seem to rush to places and then spend more time waiting on something to happen...

The two of you make your way Dinak who is talking to the herdsmen.

Shang whistles...

Seems to be working

Smiling at Rimas' comment about witchcraft, Børak continues on his way toward Dinak. He'd have rather had the conversation with Dinak alone, he knew the man had lied to him, so he must take a different tack. One that may cause the girl beside him to ask more questions than he felt comfortable answering. He had explained to his companions what he knew. Which was more than usual, he was not used to explaining himself to those near him let alone strangers like his girl Rimas. He looked at her again, Hoping she survived what ever was going to happen. Turning and answering her question. "Truly I don't know. If they come, we will kill them the same as we killed their kin. I am more concerned with other mysteries." Turning back towards Dinak, he continues to himself. 'Mysteries I plan on finding an answer to.'

Nearing Dinak, Børak gave the sheepherders a scowl. his mothers axe still in his right hand, resting on his right shoulder. He takes the two pelts off of his opposite shoulder holding them out with his left hand. "We found no men, but there is a pride of spotted cats living in the copse of trees. We were attacked by four of them, I killed three." He nods at Rimas, "Rimas killed the other. We reported to Tizam, recommending that we enlarge the camp fires in case the seek revenge." He lifts the two pelts toward Dinak, like he expected the man to take them. "When you hired us you said we had to split the bounty with your men. We took two pelts, take one, do what you will with it." Then Børak furrowed his brow, his dark eyebrows coming together, his blue eyes the shade of deep ice. "Hadramas also said we got our choice of the slave girls. I and my companions have put ourselves at more risk than any today. After Hadramas we've earned the right of first choice. I will take the blonde, green eyed, fair one from Tharag Thulan. She is tall and athletic, like the woman of my country. I tire of these short, dark, soft, woman."

sense motive: this is a lie, while he does like tall fair haired women, he likes short dark soft women just as much.
If I understand how this works hunch would be a separate roll?Hunch 20+ he probably is interested in the girl for something other than sex

Thats why Shang loves ya brother... you're a terrible liar. Fortunately for Shangs health he's not willing to play whatever the equivalent of poker with him

Cillian

The man lays back on his back which is leaned up against one of the many wagons. He seems to close his eyes but as Shang looks at the man he can tell that his eyes might be closed but the woodsman is not asleep.

Isa

Isa cleans up after herself and burns the bloody rags in the fire. She then washes her hands and sits down by Shang.

"I was hoping that my care of Cillian would make him feel more comfortable but those cats had their way with him. His flesh is rent in many places. He will need a few days to mend I fear." She pets the black cat as it cleans itself. Patting it on the back and she then begins to rub behind its ears.

She pulls a water skin out and takes a deep drink from it. Wiping the bit of moisture from the sides of her mouth she looks up and around the circle.

You did well... and am grateful. I am sure we will both feel better in the morning.

He groans and rises.

Doesnt look like Børak is interested in dinner. Or perhaps dais too busy for it... I'd best take him something to eat.

He heads back to the cook and grabs two clay bowls of food before limping around to find Børak pointing to the slaves and talking to Dinak.

Which hunger will you feed first?, he says passing him his meal.

Børak wrote:
"Truly I don't know. If they come, we will kill them the same as we killed their kin. I am more concerned with other mysteries."

Rimas seems to nod noting that Borak will not be going any deeper into these mysteries for now. She steps in pace with the Hillman and puts her attention to the men speaking in front of them as they walk towards them.

As they approach Borak gives the old herdsman a look as Dinak as his back to him. The herdsman switches his focus from Dinak to the Hillman. As Borak walks up the old herdsman cuts their conversation off as politely and respectfully as possible. He then skitters off to the sheep behind him handling the flock and moving away from the hillman.

Borak wrote:
He takes the two pelts off of his opposite shoulder holding them out with his left hand. "We found no men, but there is a pride of spotted cats living in the copse of trees. We were attacked by four of them, I killed three." He nods at Rimas, "Rimas killed the other. We reported to Tizam, recommending that we enlarge the camp fires in case the seek revenge." He lifts the two pelts toward Dinak, like he expected the man to take them. "When you hired us you said we had to split the bounty with your men. We took two pelts, take one, do what you will with it."

Dinak notices the herdsman's desire to end the conversation and looks over his shoulder and seeing the two of you approaching and turns around to face you. He scan the both of you carefully from head to toe. As Borak speaks up the man remains quiet and listens. Dinak looks over the pelts of the spotted cats and then back to Borak and Rimas and seems to note the condition of the two of you. He then seems to scan the area behind you. Borak doesn't need to glance behind himself but Rimas seems to follow his eyes and then quickly brings her gaze back to Dinak and Borak. They both notice he was looking for the rest of the group and seems to have found them as Isa tended to the other's wounds. Dinak seesm to pause for a moment as he inspects the pelts and the both of you. "Keep them Hillman. None of my men split their blood in this fight. The pelts belong to those that won that fight. As it should be." He gives the Hillman a nod of respect it seems. He then looks over your shoulder again and scans the outer circle of the wagons and then stops his scan and seems to have found what he was looking for and then returns his gaze back to Borak. "I can see that Tizam heeded your advice and is extending our fire circle. Good...we should be safe from these fearsome cats if they come they come in the night to feast on us. He seems to let that trail off... Borak continues to address the man.

Borak wrote:
Then Børak furrowed his brow, his dark eyebrows coming together, his blue eyes the shade of deep ice. [b]"Hadramas also said we got our choice of the slave girls. She is tall and athletic, like the woman of my country. I tire of these short, dark, soft, woman."

Dinak's gaze turns to the plush tent in the middle of the circle and then to the slave girl's wagon. He then brings his gaze back to the Hillman. "Very well Hillman...as you say it is your right after all. But, when you are done with her she goes back to her cage. And if there is a scratch, a bruise, a red mark on her, or she is harmed in any way it will be half your pay. Just so we are clear. And whatever you do with her it must stay in this circle... Like the mating of two well-breed hunting dogs...the coupling is not private and for all to consume. Aaden will keep an eye on you...." He then turns his gaze to Rimas who looks a bit surprised at the exchange but she seems to keep a straight face as the two men seem to barter over the slave girl.

Something to be aware of is that Isa used Treat Deadly Wounds to mend you up. That takes 1 hour each. She didn't want to take a chance of using her healing magic in the open. That means the healing and conversation with Isa, Shang, and Cillian is 2 plus hours. Borak and Rimas have only been gone for about 10 to 15 minutes at most. Currently she is doing Long Term Care on Cillian. This is one of the pitfalls of Heal: Treat Deadly Wounds is the time it takes to clean, mend, and dress the wounds.

Throwing the first pelt back over his shoulder, Børak shrugs and hands the second pelt to Rimas winking at her as Dinak comments on Tizam's movements. When the guard captain commented about 'two well-bred hunting dogs' the northerner raises an eyebrow. He had heard of the depravity of the soft southerners. The pleasure they took in watching others. Of course Børak had been on raids where others had ravished women. But they had the decency to drag the women into a building or a secluded area. But to insist others get to watch? He would not have been surprised if it had come from Hadramas, the Nabastissean. But he had not thought the Zorabi's that barbaric.

Spitting, "I am not your dog." He looked at the sun then back to the captain. "I know better than to harm Hadramas' property. I will get cleaned up and eat. After the sun sets I will collect the girl and find a dark spot within the circle. We will not be entertainment for you or your men." He shifts his mothers axe, resting on his shoulder, ever so slightly. "If any disturb us, they will regret it."

He nods to the captain then turns looking towards Rimas, "Shall we rejoin the others?" Without waiting for her to answer, He heads back towards where they had left Isa, Shang and Cillian.

After any further conversation with Dinak or Rimas, I am assuming Rimas may still be with him .
Approaching where Isa is working on Shang and Cillian, Børak leans his axe against a wheel and reaches out, accepts the bowl of food from Shang. Shoveling a large mouthful in, "We are surrounded by barbarians my friend." He gestures towards the wagon. "I have secured the Tharagian girl. I will get cleaned up after we eat and go fetch her."

Dinak

Dinak shrugs. "Very well Hillman but know that this wagon circle is mostly men...and look around you. Not many dark spots to speak of but do as you may as long as you follow the rules put forth. Maybe this breeding will put a babe in her belly. I would imagine a Hillman-Tharagian union would bear a good strong babe and her new master will appreciate that little bonus." Borak turns and walks away and the female warrior seems to fall in by his side. The Guard Captain seems to laugh but lets the Hillman's comments go. The man had clearly dealt with prideful men in the past and the words didn't seem to bother him. Maybe because there were many eyes on Borak and Rimas as the two left Dinak's company.

Rimas

Unsure of what had just unfolded in front of her eyes she decided to keep quiet and let Borak says his piece and barter for this slave wench. She had grown up in and around barrack halls and was well aware of the uses for Barrack wives and slave women...girls really. It was a main driving reason for her leaving. She had learned early on that men were driven by the primal needs...women too for that matter but more subtly then these brutes. She laughed inwardly. What drives this man...more to this then just his carnal pleasures. Maybe it has to do with that Tharagian guard.

She comes along side with the large Hillman and lowers her voice. "Soft dark women hey...I had never considered myself soft. Was it something I said that spurred this desire to create this mischief you are about? Because if it is just know there are much simpler ways to remedy this angsts you have Hillman. That man doesn't seem the one you want to jockey positions with as much as I don't trust him or his men he has their loyalty." She lets that hang for a moment... "I will never understand the mind of a man or your lack of self control..." Borak can tell by her voice she is not happy with what just happened but it is hard to tell why exactly.

When Rimas and Borak come up to the group you meet them half way... Pretty simple and then we are back on track.

Shaking his head as they walk away from Dinak. his mothers axe resting on his shoulder gripped in his huge hands, Børak mumbles under his breath "Barbarian." When he hears the tone in Rima's voice he looks at the woman raising an eyebrow. He had been thinking of the green eyed vixen who's pimp he had punched. She was dark haired and had been soft in all the right places.

Making eye contact with Rimas as she continues the rant. When she pause, he releases the axe and raises his right hand questioningly . "First of all Rimas, I would never call you soft." He gestures, pointing towards where they had left the others. "And besides, it seemed apparent you were with Cillian." He nods back towards where they left Dinak. "As for what caused this mischief, that rests solely on Dinak's shoulders." Pausing for a moment, he realized Rimas has said she didn't trust the man. Still not sure how much to share, he shrugs. "I am looking for pieces to a puzzle, I believe the Tharagian girl has, or may be, one of them. This is the only way I know to speak to her without drawing too much attention."

He smiles at the thought of bold Rimas not understanding his mind. Chuckling, remembering the way she blatantly gazed at him he thinks they may not be so different. Placing his hand back on the axes handle. "As for lack of self control, I have never taken a woman against her will. I will not do so with the Tharagian, either. I will take her from the slave wagon to my bed and speak with her. What happens from there is up to her."

Hey Shang, I had put this on my last post

His mouth burning from the spicy meat, Børak swallows it down. "What do you think about speaking to the 'Black Wolves' while I speak to the slave girl? I have no intention of lying to her. Whereas finding out the 'Black Wolves' true intentions will take much more guile than I possess."

He gestures back towards Hadramas tent. "Afterwards, we may get a chance to speak with Faza."

Guile, and by extension misdirection is something I have practice in but I'm no master. I'm happy to speak whatever line you wish me to. You have reason to doubt these Black wolves?, he asked and held up a hand forestalling a predicted response. I mean more than usual. Who should I focus on?

Putting another spoonful of the meal in his mouth Børak almost immediately regrets his decision. Looking around he asks, "Did the cooks have any Naan?" He then shakes his head. "The Tharagian girl I've arranged to meet with, looks like she could be Gunnar's sister." Moving over to his pack he gets out his waterskin and takes a large swig. "I know the southerners think we northerners all look alike, but their resemblance is uncanny."

He smiles as he takes another bite of food. "I don't know if the black wolves are up to something or not. But Faza recognized one of them and Dinak deigned it vehemently." The food burning his mouth again, he looks at the bowl in disgust. "Anything we can find out would help. Maybe Asur is from a village near Dinak and his people." Shrugging "Maybe he's from the same village."

Not willing to waste the food, Børak takes another bite. "I don't want to be caught in the middle of something, and I don't want to take the blame for something either." He gives a toothy grin, "And for Ukko's sake I don't want to be dead." Stuffing the last bite into his mouth, he gestures with the spoon. "You'll think of something to say, you always do. Maybe Isa would go with you to get a read on them. I know she's not going to want to be with me and the Tharagian girl."

After the conversation is over Børak will go to wherever water is provided to clean himself off.

Well then, the best lies are built on truth as they say. I'll go find Faza and shake him down for information and bait for my hook and hope the fishies later bite. He rises, breathes deeply, and goes in search of the friends Uzir and Faza, who doubtless would be eating together.

Gimmie a bit to edit this...

He thinks back to his conversation with Børak earlier...

Børak wrote:

He speaks softly to Shang, frustrated that the only language they share is Khazistani. "Something is afoot with the two Black wolves. The boy, Faza? He recognized them. The Tharagian desires to stay with the caravan, even though they will be leaving us in Arenjun." Rubbing his chin. "There is a Tharagian girl in the slave wagon. I wonder if it has something to do with her."

Shaking his head slightly. "It's a bad omen warriors doing the work of slaves. I like not these Zorabi dogs arrogance and I find much in common with the Tharagian. We have taken Hadramas' money but we must decide if we will protect him from his own guards." He gestures slightly towards Gunnar and Asur. "I will go near them, perchance help them with their load." As he walks towards the two black wolves, he turns, looking past Shang toward the city. "But we should stay vigilant. My father would not be afraid to take a caravan like this. Right outside it's own city where everyone thinks they are safe." He then turns and continues towards Gunnar and Asur.

He limps around the camp, taking everything in, assessing it while seemingly testing his wounded foot (which was feeling much better... Isa rarely failed).

Perception for oddities around camp: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Will let the GM colour in anything spotted

He notes Faza at the Masters tent and sighs inwardly... HsiWangMu curse it! Chi Kung, the mad immortal has dealt me some bad tiles it seems... well then. Into the tigers den. For do not the ancients say 'Only those brave enough to face the tigers den will obtain cubs'? Or as others say 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained'.

He approaches the mercenaries around their own fire, who talk quietly among themselves.

Have you room at your fire for another?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, his many friendly and his body language open.

When Borak lowers his axe it catches the women's attention so she stops and listens. She nods in agreement at his first statement and smiles at the compliment. The comment about her and Cillian gets a raised eyebrow. "Well sharing my bed with Cillian doesn't mean I am with him. I am free to choose who and when I want someone. Cillian knows this and he has the same freedom as well. We are companions who count on each other because no one can survive this world alone. Better to have another sword and set of eyes." She pauses for a moment and seems to consider her own words. "I can see why you are friends with Shang and Isa...they are loyal as are you. That alone is a valuable gift to have in this world." She lets Borak finish... She nods as they walk through the encampment. Relaxing her hand on her sword as she scans the encampment and smells the food being served by the old man and women. She looks over to the cooking and serving table and then back to Borak. "You know Dinak and his family were raiders themselves. I don't know the whole story mind you but that night after you slew all those men with the red sashes. Cillian and I did some asking around." She laughs under her breath..."Where is the fun in that Hillman...If that is case then we should let this game of chance play out and see where it takes us then. It would seem our blades are bound. I will let Cillian know...he likes your group so it would seem we are fated to take the bet of the bones you roll."

Rimas and Borak walk up to Shang after talking about what Rimas and Cillian know and about and stories of the City of Dipur.

What you learn about Dinak from Rimas:

After a short career as an outlaw raiding caravan with his tribe in the wilderness of Khazistan, Dinak traveled to the capital city of Zhul-Bazzir and underwent formal combat training as a young man. He used his newfound skills and experience to earn the right to lead raiding parties on caravans. Eventually, he meets Hamadras, some say during a raid, others say the merchant sought out his services. Since that time he has been protecting caravans for Hamadras, and quickly rose among the ranks to become foreman of Hamadras’ personal caravan. He seems to trust few people, other than Hamadras, and his tribemates to whom he is completely loyal, and usually kill anyone who annoys him rather than argues with them. He has a reputation for being a dangerous swordsman who is quick with both hands. It is also said he still has strong ties to his tribe and those that still raid...they just seem to never attack Hamadras's caravans. Now they just hire a fresh batch of mercenaries every time Hamadras' private caravan travels to Arenjun.

We are now in present time.
