GM Mioki |
Hello and Welcome to our 'Discussion Thread' for Wrath of the Righteous.
If your submission was accepted in the Recruitment Thread, go ahead and post in here. Posting will be your official acceptance in to the game.
We'll first work out a few things regarding your characters to get everyone integrated.
I will also ask for your patience. I still have a lot of work to do to get this up and running properly. The submission process took up a lot of my time, and I have other games that I do not want to neglect.
So Welcome for now and congratulations on your acceptance.
Greta Gyllenhår |
Thanks for the pick! I’m really excited for this game. I need to finish setting up this alias but I should have that done by tomorrow. Is there anything in particular you’d like us to post here to introduces ourselves?

You're welcome!
This is perfect for now. By posting in here, you are accepting the invitation to the game. This allows me to make sure all six that were chosen are still interested.
You have time to update your character. Like I mentioned previously, I still have some work to do to prepare. I work in healthcare, so my typical workweek is pretty busy. Also, I have other games that I do not want to neglect. I accepted to run this game on a request, so I still have lots to review before we truly get up and running. My goal will be by the end of this coming work week to be ready. Then we will launch by the weekend. If you can have your character ready by then, it will be great.
Cheers!

I did some clean up on my character sheet, due to stat changes from Junior's last iteration and I switched out my trait to Child of the Crusade so as not to have the same trait as anyone else.
I think the only people who are required to know each other are people who share the same trait. But it wouldn't hurt for party cohesion for us to know each other. Junior makes a living apprenticing to a smith in town and so he could have sold weapons to any of the other PCs. He also hangs out at local taverns performing drums, singing, and poetry.
Greta Gyllenhår |
@Fred- I currently only have one weapon and it was my dad's, so no connection there, but his armor definitely wouldn't have fit so we could have met through that? I like to dance, too, so maybe we met at one of the taverns that way? If you're a child of the Crusades you probably know other crusaders (or would be crusaders)... I want to become one but don't get taken seriously (because I'm a 90 pound girl) so if you took my interest at all seriously and maybe offered to introduce me to some people you'd be just about my favorite new friend.
Fred Junior |
Junior probably doesn't know many crusaders personally, that was his dad's gig. He believes in the crusade which is why he sticks around and helps. People might know Junior by his dad's reputation, a Hellknight sent to the crusade as punishment. He gains the benefit of the trait knowing his dad is miserable having to play nice with a bunch of paladins, a small twist on the fluff of the trait. He probably has other distant relations in and around the Worldwound, he has a number of half-aunts on his mother's side he's never met or even knows about. They even could have had children of their own, heck Greta could be a long lost 2nd cousin twice removed.
Greta Gyllenhår |
Lol- I think its a lot more likely that Benedic and I are second cousins twice removed (given my race and his heritage). I just tweaked my purchases slightly and that created two pretty clear potential connections for you and I, although neither would go real far back... I bought a cold-iron spiked gauntlet. You could have sold that to me, maybe even suggested it to me as an alternative to a dagger or spear on the grounds that it's always on/ready? That purchase literally wiped out the last little bit of gold I had, so I've been dancing for tips at local taverns to pay my room and board the last couple of days, we could have performed together, possibly a few times if it went well the first time?
Massielo Cirus |
Hi, thank you for the invite!!!
Massielo is reporting for duty. Bring all your wounds and healing issues to me, and I'll take care of you.
Fred, we might know each other, since Massielo was once a soldier prospect not so long ago. At that time, he might have come to your store to check on some order.
I noticed that all our characters so far lack on decent Perception bonuses. Hopefully the other characters will be more... perceptive.
Massielo Cirus |
Yeah, I was about to say so. Me and Benedic have many overlaps. You don't need to learn Bless, as it's a known spell by me (or I may change that known spell, what do you think?).
Benedic is an Iomedae devout and Massielo started clerical training in the Iomedae temple, following his mother's vocation. Maybe that's where they know each other. How was Benedic's deep connection to the deity? Massielo firmly believes his mysterious powers came from her.
Benedic |
I can make some adjustments-- Massielo is less combat-oriented than Benedic, so it makes sense for them to have different spells.
Benedic is a witch-hunter here in Kenebras, and his father was the former high priest of Iomedae in the capital city. Since childhood, he thinks of Iomedae as sort of a surrogate mother, since his actual mother was some sort of outsider that Benedic has come to believe was a demon in disguise.
It might be an interesting early dynamic if our characters don't like each other? Or at least, have run in very different circles and don't have much in common besides our deity at first. What do you think?
Selann Juris |
Thanks GM Mioki and Hello all! I'm really looking forward to this game!!!
I haven't looked at character sheets, but I'm obviously a halfling with daggers and crossbow. Once we get started I'm a Wizard/Diviner planning rogue to AT, if I survive that long....
That said, this player is planning on having fun!

This works for me.

I can see some teenage brewed rivalry there. Massielo has always been very easy to get along with, and they could have disputed some sort of "leadership" in the training grounds. This could even promote some personal growth for Massielo.
In combat, Massielo is very much healing oriented. I'll probably build him towards buffing (the Oracle spell list isn't very helpful out of combat, or most divine spell lists for that matter), but I feel we should coordinate often, since you can swap your spell list every day while I'm stuck with spells known. What I mean is I hope to hear your opinion and criticism often.
Greta Gyllenhår |
I think I played one session of the beginning of this at a TT game once years ago. IIRC, we don’t need to worry too much about the group coming together because it’s built into the first section. That said, I do like the idea that there are pre-existing connections between some of us (we just don’t need to worry about connecting all of us).
My crunch is all in my profile now, though I might still tweak it just a touch (if that’s ok). I’ll copy and paste my background in next time I can get on my computer, but I’d like to flesh it out a little more too if/when I get time.
@Selann- I’m glad you’re here, it’s nice not being the smallest one in the party, lol.
Selann Juris |
@Greta, Yep. I'm just over 3' tall. But what race do you appear to be?
Greta Gyllenhår |
I’m about to write up my description, but it’ll be slow because I have to do it on my phone. I mostly look human, but anyone with knowledge[planes] can probably tell I’m not. I’m a petite human/aasimar though at just over 5’ tall and under 100 lbs (until I put on armor).
Selann Juris |
LOL! And if you have heavy armor,it probably weighs more than me!
Benedic |
@Greta: Do you have the Scion of Humanity race trait? If not, the way the rules work is anyone can tell you are a native outsider, not a human humanoid, unless you make a fairly difficult Disguise check. Also, you can't benefit from spells like enlarge person that target humanoids. It's kind of complicated! :)
If you do have the trait, you don't have to make the Disguise check to pass for human, and you count as both human and outsider for spell effects and stuff like that. It just means you don't get Celestial as a bonus language at the start.
Greta Gyllenhår |
The physical description section of the aasimar race entry begins “Aasimars look mostly human,” so that seemed like a reasonable way to describe myself. I am aware that I will need disguise checks to pass as a normal human if I want to. Thank you. I meant the comment about knowledge [planes] for identifying exactly what I am beyond just ‘not human’ (as generally identifying a creature requires an appropriate knowledge check).
PS (@everyone)- I apologize in advance if my replies ever come across as curt. I do most of my posting from my phone, so I tend to write concisely and sometimes that can come across wrong.
Benedic |
I don't want to speak for @Selann, but I was unsure if Greta is obviously an aasimar or not. It sounds like she is?
Just for contrast, Benedic isn't. That is, he looks human until you look closely. :)
Selann Juris |
No matter. I'm in another game with a Ratfolk disguised as a halfling. It works....
Greta Gyllenhår |
Yeah, her hair looks like finely spun gold, so it's fairly obvious that she's not a normal human. I hunted for a profile picture that would better capture that but came up empty (there seemed to be very few options that had any kind of cute somewhat childish feel to begin with, let alone golden hair on top of that), I may look again today and see if there's anything at all closer.
Selann Juris |
Actually I think that picture does it pretty well. The eyes in particular. Almost looks like a doll....
Caliban Tre'Athkar |
Caliban is working in the area of Kenabres as a scribe, so perhaps he's met Selann? The scarred elf is knowledgable in magic, and would be willing to help out around town for a small fee in transcription and copying. Barring that, he's okay with a sword, so he could be hired on as an armed helper?
Massielo Cirus |

Second.
@Benedic: Your profile opens up with Race: Human. Is that to throw the player's scent off? XD
Greta Gyllenhår |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Thanks for the endorsements- while monitoring my kids' @home learning this morning/afternoon I looked through all 4,635 potential profile images and determined this is, in fact, the best one for me.
(Also, I don't want to speak for him but I believe Benedic is a human but he has a feat that allows him to qualify for things as if he were an aasimar... so he's like an almostimar)
edit: sorry, it looks like he's reworked that and is an aasimar now... he probably just hasn't finished editing his profile yet

LOL! I shouldn't do this at work!!!
Fred Junior |

Highlight of my day so far.
Greta Gyllenhår |
Lol, glad to be of service.
I was auditing my crunch and I noticed that I moved a point from Dex to Cha when filling out my profile. I moved it back. I also had the wrong perception bonus in my banner. I fixed that too. If anyone wants a second set of eyes for auditing their crunch I'd be glad to help, just let me know (I'm pretty sure from briefly looking at everyone that at least one of you has shorted yourself a couple points worth of stat buy).
Benedic |
That was hilarious, Greta! :)
Oh shoot, I missed the reference in my profile. I'll correct it now.
(Does that mean Benedic is a dumbaasimar?)
Massielo Cirus |
I wouldn't mind an audit if you can spare the time. My crunch is mostly done with the exception that I'm still discussing spell list with Benedic.
Caliban Tre'Athkar |
I think my crunch is all set, but if you have time, please feel free to check it out!
Fred Junior |
(I'm pretty sure from briefly looking at everyone that at least one of you has shorted yourself a couple points worth of stat buy).
That's probably me. One of the players in another game pointed out my mistake to me already. I'll get it corrected once I get off work.
GM Mioki |
Hello Everyone!
A quick update: We will be adding a 7th player. He is from another game I am involved in and was quite *persistent* about playing. :)
That being said I will be inviting him to post and introduce his character.
My plan as of now is to get a prelude post up tomorrow or Wednesday. It will start with the morning before Armasse.
This will give you time for a few posts to find your character's voice and will allow me to possibly flesh out some NPC's.
This weekend we will start the AP.
Enjoying the banter already ...
Cheers!
Selann Juris |
I'm fine with anyone checking my numbers. I always think I'm right, until the second set of eyes points out all of the mistakes that I've made....
Another player!?! The more the merrier!
Fred Junior |
LOL! I think I know who it is. I'm ok with this development.
Tristan de Lion |
Hello All!
I am currently in a Strange Aeons game with our DM and Junior. I was in a WotR game 4 years ago, but our DM disappeared at 3rd level...we were bummed.
I am really excited at this second opportunity!
@Benedic and @Massielo
Considering that we are all Iomedae servants; may I suggest that we do know each other from the Nerosyan's Cruciform Cathedral? If even just in passing?
Tristan has spent his entire life there. I am actually going to finish his backstory tomorrow, as to why he is in Kenabres .
I really look forward to fighting evil with you all!
Please feel free to audit him. Let me know if you have questions.
Benedic |
Hi Tristan, and welcome! Glad to meet another potential new friend here! An inquisitor joining the group is exciting, also. More skills, yay!
I'm totally okay with Benedic and Tristan knowing each other. Might I suggest, though, that rather than growing up in Nerosyan, Tristan could have grown up in Kenabres? When I was researching Benedic, I learned that Kenabres is sort of the nexus for inquisitors in Mendev. Part of Benedic's story is that his father was the high priest in Nerosyan, and that Benedic came to Kenabres when his father died towards the end of the last Crusade. So Benedic would have been a pretty big deal in Nerosyan, but only a basic initiate here in Kenabres. Whereas if Tristan is sort of a golden boy inquisitor, it would make sense if Kenabres is more his turf than Benedic's. Tristan could be Prelate Hulrun's protege, while Benedic has fallen in with a bad crowd and runs in slightly different circles. They wouldn't necessarily dislike each other, but there might be a bit of mutual envy going on. What do you think?
Massielo Cirus |
Heyyy, we're all Iomedaean, that's cool. I was talking to Benedic and we think we might know each other from clerical training (Massielo did spend some time training but dropped out). They have some sort of rivalry going on. It would be cool if you were like trying to get us to go along or.... Dislike us both at the same time.
Just saw Benedic's post. Man, you're an intrigue weaver, aren't you?
Tristan de Lion |
I really like the flavor of us all being Iomedaean!
There is a secret reason why Tristan has been sent by his Inquisitor Superiors to Prelate Hulrun Shappok in Kenabres. When we start the AP, I am planning on his just arriving in town.
I will explain more, once I finish his background...
Benedic |
@Massielo: Gotta get the interesting party interactions in early, amiright? :)
@Tristan: Cool cool cool. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
Greta Gyllenhår |
Welcome Tristan!
I had a busy afternoon but I've finally finished my appearance and copied my basic background into my profile (though I do hope to add to it at some point). I'll try to give a second look to everyone who asked (which I believe is Massielo, Caliban, Selann, and Tristan, right?) and post anything I notice later tonight.
Also, all the divine casters might be Iomedaeans but not all of the characters are- I revere Ragathiel, the Empyreal Lord of duty and vengeance.
Selann Juris |
Welcome Tristan. I started the game once. And that's about the extent of it. Didn't really figure out what was going on and then it just sort of died. I'm looking forward to actually playing it through this time!
I'm not familiar with the Inquisitor class, so that's another bonus for me!
Greta Gyllenhår |
3 people with the same campaign trait?!? Wow. It’s a good thing you all worshipped the same goddess already because the trait requires it.
Humans get their regional language for free in addition to common. IIRC, that’s Hallit for Mendev, although if your parents emigrated you might be allowed to take their native language instead.
You might want to trade out your heavy shield for a light one. You need a free hand to cast most spells and a light shield allows you to hold your weapon in your shield hand momentarily to cast and then regrasp it. With a heavy shield you’d have to drop it and then use a move action to pick it back up.
Your stats in the stat boxes are different than down in your write-up; I think the latter are right (because in the boxes you spent too many points).
You have a note at the beginning of your crunch that you took stolen fury for your trait but then it says rift warden in the trait section. Also remember/note that the dual path mythic feat let’s you basically take two mythic paths so you could do archmage and champion.
You’re missing Celestial in your languages box.
TBH, I didn’t double check your purchase prices but they look pretty good?
Acrobatics isn’t a background skill. Several knowledges are if you wanted to take one of those, but none of the knowledge you currently have so you’d have to drop one of them (or spellcraft) if you want to keep acrobatics.
In Pathfinder diviners have two opposition schools just like all other specialists.
This isn’t a correction but a reminder/alert (that you probably already know): the accomplished sneak attacker feat let’s you qualify for AT with only a 1 level dip in rogue (which is great because all the lost caster levels really hurt otherwise).
TBH, I didn’t double check your purchase prices but they look pretty good?
You forgot to mark your +1 racial bonus under ‘skill points per level’ (you remembered to spend it though). That’s the only mistake I saw (and it’s a minor one, it just threw me off because that total didn’t match the points you spent).

I... didn't know that. I'll adjust tomorrow. Thank you.
Selann Juris |
Thanks Greta! Good catches all. I searched to figure out how I made the background skill mistake. Seems I labeled the wrong row on my spreadsheet. I'll take knowledge-engineering instead.
Opposition schools.... Carry over mistake from 3.5. Adding enchantment.
And thanks for the info on the feat. I had heard of it but didn't remember the name. I'll look it up tomorrow when I fix the mistakes that you found.
Greta Gyllenhår |
Opposition schools.... Carry over mistake from 3.5.
Lol- I thought for sure that’s what it was.
