Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

When did this game start moving so fast? I forget to check on the weekend and lose an AoO and a turn?!?!? I guess I'll take the miss as a consolation prize...

Wow! Huge hits by Ayita and Nasir!
The thing flops to the ground, spurting gore from multiple wounds… and then it shimmers and vanishes, returning to whence it came.

GM Derek |

The dice roller is acting a bit weird but could be randomness.
Yeah. It ate a roll by me and then TWO crits. But that’s just randomness. Crits had to come up sooner or later!

GM Derek |

Exhaustion and fatigue from the thing’s ray immediately dissipate. Nasir and Frantino both feel full of energy!

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Roscoe watches the thing crash to the ground.
"Nice. I'm guessing we'll see more of its ilk around here," he says.

"Shu hayda! What was zat zing and where did it go?"
He turns to Ezranadir.
"Shukra, Ezranadir. Za flying was most helpful. Wiz all of za flying enemies we have run into, maybe I should have also chosen za flying carpet like Ayita!"
Nasir chuckles to himself has he surveys the area and the rest of the group.

![]() |

"Shu hayda! What was zat zing and where did it go?"
"I imagine it went back to whatever plane from whence it was summoned."
He watches as Roscoe moves to the exit and calls after him. "Best be checking for traps before going any further there, Roscoe."
Responding to Nasir, "Perhaps, Winged Boots would be better suited. You would not have to command or steer it."
"I am almost exhausted on my spell repertoire. I have a mixture of low to mid level of less than 5 remaining. Definitely cannot perform that Fly spell again."

The pillar to the southwest of the room looks similar to the previous pillars which opened upon command. However, without a way to ascertain if it is magical, you don't really know if it is another door. (Your detect magics have expired by now)
Yes, another doorway into my demesne! Say my name! SAY MY NAME! says the liquid voice inside Roscoe's head.
@ROSCOE - recall that previously using the command word gave your spirit a point of influence each time. You are now at 4pts. If you give the spirit one more point of influence, it takes over and your PC becomes an NPC for the rest of the day.

"I do still have the Wand of Fireballs but if we encounter any creatures from the depths of Hell like what we just encountered then it would be useless. Is anyone carrying any other Wands or any other type of magical gear that may be better suited in my hands?"
"I seem to recall seeing some scrolls on the loot sheet. Does the party still have those?

![]() |

Oh, I have this thing, I keep forgetting about it.
Scrawled in common on a beat-up wand, the party can see Ayita's handwriting - "majik armor" - with 13 little hatch marks on it. Maybe it has 37 left.
Ter glares at her; she'd told Ter that the falcon would get protected really well every day or so by the magic stick.
I can still cast a couple of cure lights, anyone need that? And cantrips, anyone need water?
Ter sighs.

Frantino Kaddren |

Frantino is grateful he won't have to wait until tomorrow to not feel so tired. He will use his new investigator skills to search around with detect magic recast in order to see if there are any additional traps, or when this trap might reset. "Ayita, can you tell if this trap will reset, and if so how quickly?" He'll also closely examine the next pillar.
Trapfinding - summoning trap: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 1 = 22

If the light is bright enough for Ter to add the Falcon "bright light" bonus, please add +3 to those.

GM Derek |

The combined efforts of the very perceptive Ayita, Ter and Frantino, find an ancient inscribed summoning circle that is designed to call three creatures from the Lower Planes. Some of the arcane calligraphy is out of date with current extraplanar geography, thus resulting in its earlier malfunctioning.
The trap, damaged as it is, will still reset in 24hours.

GM Derek |

The pillar that Frantino examines is very similar to the others (nearly identical). He supposes it too could be opened by somebody using the right vocal inflections and Thassilonian pronunciation. He assumes it can be done by somebody used to activating arcane objects, especially those items that a person couldn’t normally use.

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Roscoe holds up a hand, the shreds of what remain of his willpower keeping him from speaking the password.
"Something tells me someone else should activate this next one. I think these archmage spirits are pretty strong. But you've seen how I've done it, right?" he asks.

![]() |

"Oh, I have this thing, I keep forgetting about it."
"Ayita, if you are using that then keep it for Ter's benefit. I was mainly asking in regards to offensive type wands."
"Something tells me someone else should activate this next one."
Before we hastily activate the next pillar, let us make sure everyone is healed, rested and ready to proceed. I know all of you have interest in Thassilonian lore but who else here can speak Thassilonian other than Roscoe? I myself can and can activate arcane objects being a wizard and such. We should also decide on a course of action on how to proceed other than just boldly entering more rooms. I take it from her discovery, Ayita is the trapfinder of the group."

![]() |

I've got some skill with it, yes, though not nearly so much as my cousins. Most of us speak Thassilonian, we had a study group going back in town, at Blackberry's... I don't do arcane magic, but hunter magic, which is similar to druidic but mostly practical stuff.
Ter perks up at the mention of her favorite treat. A dried blackberry appears for her from Ayita's pouch.

Frantino Kaddren |

"I believe that all of us except Doc can speak Thassilonian. Because I am no longer exhausted from the creature's enfeebling ray I am fully prepared to move on, but Nasir still has some wounds we should heal first. These arcane summoning runes will call forth another creature in a day and I'd rather we weren't here when they reset."
"I have a wide range of skills at my disposal, but others in the party can perform some of them far better than I. For example, you often demonstrate greater depth in many areas of knowledge. Ayita is better at finding and disabling traps, but her lessons have enabled me to be an adequate back-up. Roscoe and I are both pretty effective at tricking magic items into performing. Once we are ready, I can speak the Thassilonian phrase to open this next door, hopefully we'll find a different path to go down so we can find the old runewell and disable the portal to the Cove before our competition makes things worse."
Frantino will wait for Nasir to be healed and will then speak the Thassilonian phrase.

Nasir readies his sword and shield and stands next to the door that Frantino will open.

Frantino Kaddren |

When everyone is ready, Frantino will speak in Thassilonian, "Open for the glory of Alaznist!"

GM Derek |

The stone pillar descends into the ground, revealing a half-moon-shaped chamber. This marble-floored rooms is a rich blue hue, though ancient bloodstains discolor much of it. The walls are carved with bas-reliefs depicting naked human figures slitting their own throats, blissful smiles on their faces. Rusty iron manacles hang from chains along the walls and an ancient skeleton lies slumped to the south, a curved sword blade lodged in its ribs as if the long-dead person had plunged the blade into their own chest.
At the same time, the pillar into the trapped rooms rises up, sealing the room.
Ezranadir is unsure if he should leap through the opening as the pillar, the massive, inexorable, murderously powerful pillar, closes.
To be clear, Ezranadir is in the first room. The pillar-door to the second room closes. He's all by himself. Everybody else is in the second room where the fight just occurred. They've opened the door to a third room.
Ezranadir needs to roll an acrobatics check to dart through the closing pillar-door.

![]() |

I thought we were in a discussion and all resting, healing and discussing more on how to proceed. How could Ezranadir be doing so from another room? Yelling? If this is how you're playing it so be it. Plus, Frantino stated he would speak the phase when everyone was ready. If Ezranadir was in the first room , obviously he was not ready to proceed.
Ezranadir watches as the pillar closes sealing him off from the group. He thinks to himself, "I'm a Wizard not a Gymnast!" As it closes, he waits a minute and speaks in the same tone in Thassilonian as Frantino, "Open for the glory of Alaznist!"
