Another burst of divine wrath echoes throughout the trees, sending the vegepygmies cowering like land urchins. Sha'lea focuses her ki pummels one with her staff, before a powerful scissor kick lifts the thing from its feet, sending it crashing into the tree trunk behind...and exploding in a viscous goo of thorns and fungal slime...

Thorny G: dead

Then, just as the Redcap was about to start another rhyme with its annoying 'click, click' chant, the lantern light seemed to dim as a new radiance entered the Realms...the edge of Gorum's axe was alive with holy fire...and brought the creature pain as was ordained from on high.

Giuseppe, your original plan was to attack blue. But that will require a Disengage now that the Redcap has moved up (see map). Would you like to direct that to the Redcap instead? Yellow also possible without disengage.

Quen and Io to go as well.

After that display, I would turn my attention to to the redcap... Clenching a little bit after that display...

Grabbing his medallion of faith, the cleric will plead with Mishakel to grant life to the half orc. The medallion glows a soft blue. That same soft blue light envelops the half orc.

Quen, let's say you did that last round so Gorum gets the full 10 hp (with Menders 4 coming just after to push up to 14).

Go ahead and take another action for this round.

Giuseppe stood before the perverse creature, his warrior spirit boiling over the edge...he cut a reckless arc across the throat of the creature, but it was only a feint...the true strike followed unseen by the Redcap, just above the belt in the softness of its stomach...

Ah, the joys of rogue...

The redcap, heavily bloodied and nearly defeated, seems more insane than ever talking to himself as if to decide which intruder into his domain to kill "Blanket-head...no...Sir Tusk...click...Slim Stabby..." The thorny dogs quickly regrow their lost and shredded portions, and attack with pure abandon...

The redcap would never know the story of Giuseppe di Firenze and the way he clawed himself out of the gutter. Would never know the painstaking attention to detail it required to create a convincing forgery. Would never know, because its head detached from its spine and rolled into a mole hole.

I think Thorny Yellow should take damage at the start of its turn. I mean ongoing effect, such as spells or alchemist fire use that rather than end of its turn... Just sat sayin... ^_^ It just bums me out that it doesn't even stop its regen for a round... :(

Where did the Thorny Yellow move to?

AvernusArt 2Grid

If you wanted the oil to splash right on the creature, its a ranged attack with disadvantage (since you are 5 ft) and without your proficiency bonus (since oil flask is improvised) vs ac 14. We can retcon that if you want, I made the assumption it wasnt since you didnt roll.

It moves straight south.

Ha ha, I think there is a miscommunication. This was my internal logic when trying that action: When you are in an area of continuing effect, usually damage is dealt at the start of their turn. (see Alchemist Fire, Moonbeam, Spirit Guardians, etc.) Even if it were just 1 hp of fire damage, since it is obviously not as powerful as alchemist fire (which is 1d4). I figured I was just splashing it in the area, hoping that I could catch at least the area, if I couldn't catch any of the creature... I figure the improvised weapon was if I was throwing the flask at the creature, but that was not what I was doing, which is why I didn't roll. :)

EDIT: Gio moves around to Blue and swings at the thorny beast!

Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Welp, again, the dice winds shift their direction against me...;)

AvernusArt 2Grid

Ah. Sure, lets retcon it did 5 ongoing fire damage and halted its regen, so its sitting at 1 hp. Not trying to play gotcha with the rules, I see your intent. I was just reading the oil flask where it said end of turn, didnt think to look elsewhere.

Oil flask? Let me look. I am so used to interpreting the rules as a DM, I sometimes make assumptions that don't always hold true. Sorry, not trying to fight you on this. Just, it sucks when combats drag on, especially when no one can hit worth a damn... ^_^

EDIT: Oh damn, you are right! That is some backwards stuff. Sometimes I don't understand why they do things one way all the time, the turn it on its head for one case. I am fine with it. I just think that it should at least take damage at least once, despite it neither entering nor ending its turn there. Unless, you can see any reason it wouldn't have been burned. I think 5 ongoing might be a little much though... Eh. I trust you. I am constantly learning more and more about this game as I play. Moreso than when I DM! Thank you for indulging me on these discussions! I think I would have been kicked from the table by now! >.<
