Time out. Sorry, but I need to be clear about what's happening here.

The scenario ended at Overseers Announcement. It's been reported and we have our chronicles. So this is just for funsies? There's no jeopardy or threat of reportable character death, correct?

Sorry to be a killjoy, but I've never seen this done in PFS, so I want it to be clear before I proceed.

Yes, that is correct. I already reported, so death will simply be a dream...

We were actually keeping decent pace with the group, but then that last section just went super quick (and we had just started an extra optional battle, but it didn't go fast). A few of the players felt like they missed out, so I am just running the rest of the scenario for sense of completion. You are not under any obligation to continue, and for that matter, you can immediately use your character on another table since this one is officially over. But if you would like to play on just for funsies, join us!

I'll continue. I just needed to see that explicitly stated.

When we agreed to continue after the wraiths, I thought that just meant to the end of the Black Caverns / Relic section. I didn't realize then that we were going on to the Pillar.

When I ran it, they were also in Soldier mode, so I never really got around to reading the Pillar, except for the warnings and caveats at the beginning of the section.

Thanks for the clarification. Now back to action....

I do not think Eldon's rapier will be very fit to destroy the stones (at least hacking a stone with a needle does not work very good in my head xD). It is good to hear Zarnel has an adamantine hammer.

Unless you tell me it is better otherwise, I will assume it's better for Eldon to face the undead for now.

Actually, proof that the RNG is working. Statistically, it would be weird if odd patterns (like back-to-back duplicates) didn't happen from time to time.

If you roll a d20 enough times (physically or electronically), eventually you'll roll 1 through 20 in sequence. It'll look non-random, but it would be weirder if that didn't happen!

Does Mylvwara share what she knows about the crystals and the ritual?

GM Fuzzfoot wrote:
Third, a spellcaster can reroute or temporarily block the flow of magical energy between the stones. They can do this with a variety of spells or abilities that disrupt, suppress, or manipulate the flow of magic. The Pillar interferes with the PCs’ effort, but PCs who use an ability and succeed at an DC 20 Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft check maintain enough control over the effect to succeed.

Does this only require to roll the spellcraft? If a suitable spell is required, Eldon still has a dispel magic on his scroll, could that be considered suitable to disrupt a stone?

I think dispell magic + spellcraft would work.

I didn’t put it in character because it wasn’t in a spoiler. Mylvwara will over-share what she knows.

Question: if I cast create pit so that a stone is on the edge of the pit, will the stone roll into the pit?

Then I could end the spell and the stone would be 10ft from its starting position.

Also, could I cast grease under a stone, and beside it, to make it slip and slide once pushed?

Knowledge | GSC | GSD| Carrion | RotR$

I think casting create pit should be sufficient (but you still need the accompanying roll). Grease could also be useful if someone is trying to use strength to move it.

Mun is starting in a different game soon. I'm going to apply this chronicle and clean up his stat line for the new game later tonight. I'll probably just stop participating in this scenario once the new one starts tonight or tomorrow.

He's still shooting to cast blessing of fervor ASAP, so feel free to bot that if I don't get to it as a player. While his stat line will no longer be up to date for this game, you still have access to his and Selune's profiles, so feel free to bot them until this scenario is satisfactorily completed for those who wanted to finish it.

Thanks for the game Fuzzfoot! I'm sure I'll see you all around the boards.

Ha! I didn't read this first, but I just wrapped up the game in Gameplay anyway. Have fun!

Ha! Too right. The idea of running an AP by PbP is always more appealing than the reality.

I have taken over two RotRL games when the GM bowed out during Burnt Offerings and only got one of them even to the end of Book 1 before it petered out.
I also ran the first book of Council of Thieves before I was the one who had to call time on it.

By contrast, I have run the whole of RotRL face-to-face.

Knowledge | GSC | GSD| Carrion | RotR$

I currently have 2 PbP RotRL games going, both in Book 2, but I am about to merge the two tables into 1. One of these I inherited.

I also have 2 Giantslayer campaigns, now in book 3. I had 3 tables, but one had to go. The other 2 are still all original players, though - with a few dropped out over the years (yes, years!)

I am also now running a Carrion Crown campaign that I inherited in Book 2 and they are now on Book 3. I was only intending to help them finish Book 2, but it is a great group so I decided to keep pushing.

What I have found is that to be successful, they group has to pace themselves properly, which will usually mean slower than even usual PbP - it's a marathon, not a sprint.

But I have also been part of a fair number that failed too...

That is a good run. It's also an impressive amount if GMing.

I have one module and one scenario on the go, that's enough for me.

Some weeks are easier than others... :)

I will close this campaign tomorrow to get it off everyone's active list.

You have me impressed Fuzzfoot, that is a massive work. Kudos!

I have been GMing The Shackled City AP since 2016 and we are just at the middle of Book 8 (of 12). Level 13 combat requires a lot of effort.

Recently I started an Ire of the Storm module, kind of to assess if I could manage 2 APs, and I have found out there are weeks when it is impossible to work the kind of depth detail and pace necessary to keep a group of young adults interested in the era of Internet and infinite series and video games :P

My limit is clearly between 1 and 2 tables.
