Shirley Hidesbad |
Shirley watches Pai work, staying out of it mostly, not trusting words in a book. Still, there does seem to be some rhyme and reason to how she is unwinding the mystical vines. Eventually though, he concludes that she is starting to go the wrong way.
"Not right." He interjects, pointing to her left hand. "It go other way, that one comes through there, else flames die in water."
Their sun god might claim to be fire... but the mighty Zarongel new how fire burned too.

The Eldritch goes forth, eyes it carefully, and mutters a few silent prayers to whichever deity is listening.
"I know we have never been on great terms. My very existence eyed by a being from beyond the veil, and powers of darkness awaiting me in another life time. For once, however, our interests align, and I wish to aid the side of those who have suffered long enough. Grant me this one boon, let me end a reign of tyranny and return a long desired peace to those who lost it."

The Eldritch true to his relationship with Saranrae, remembers of course there is a failsafe here, of course the 'faithful' would put a failsafe in... some faith..., that needs to be dealt with so things can proceed smoothly. Pai, with that knowledge, is able to overcome it and finish the ritual.
Finally, a familiar light appears, similar to the one that charged the holy symbol, and the helm is free and slowly rises to the surfaces of the water.
Pai Kromnite PFS |
”Should we take the helm with us? Would putting it in that other font do something special? We need to do everything possible to give us an edge against this reaver.”
Pai Kromnite PFS |
Pai taps her fingers, deep in thought. Finally reaching a decision, she grabs the helm. ”One of you strong types should wear it I think. Thinking back to what we are told, this might help against the beast. And you divine types should go grab the holy symbol of Seranrae. It glowed after we solved the riddle. If that would insult your deity, heck I’ll wear it.”
The Eldritch |
"I shall go and retrieve it." The Eldritch whispers to his allies, and sneaks back to recover the holy symbol.

As soon as Eldritch returns, Roland nods and then calls a blessing and taps wand of gravity bow in preparation of hunting the Reaver.
”Are we doing zhis? “
Shirley Hidesbad |
"Here not good." Shirley says, glaring about at all the corpses. "This area, it knows."
He points back towards the main chappel. "Back there. More room. Lots of doors to slow it down. Wood seats to make hiding places."
Do we get a choice? The main chapel seems a much better spot.
Roland Garros |
Agreed - we should spread out with lots of space to see and react.
Roland will look for an area to get higher on a balcony or loft in the main chapel.
GM_Ammordius |
After testing your hastily constructed defenses for quite a while, enabling you to search the entire cathedral, the reaver finally busts through a boarded up window on the second floor. Flying above your heads, it lets out a loud growl, signifying a begining of the final showdown with the beast.

"Flying? No one said it flying!" Shirley calls out, as the giant beast comes in through the ceiling.
Out of reach, and no way to predict what it might do, he instead starts yelling at it angrily.
"You took arm! Maybe take yours now, stupid thing!"
Challenge the reaver, then ready an action for it to get 10 feet or more lower down. At which point, move to attack, partial charging if necessary.
GM_Ammordius |
7 copies Thoriel appear, ready to fight.
You can't ready a partial charge, so please clarify if delaying or ready to 5' step and attack. Functionally there isn't much difference with only one enemy, so i'll assume you've readied and if it doesn't come within range, you can still take a full round action next round. You could also simply ready to move towards it should it land, in which case you may get a full attack next time. I'm guessing Etu wants to buff now that people are positioned.

Did it double move, and roar? Or does it have a 50+ fly speed?
Really wasn't expecting it to be flying. 8(
And what is the +3 bonus listed on our will saves? For stacking reasons if other stuff comes in to play.
Anyone within 60' feet of Shirley will get a +2 morale bonus vs fear, due to his banner. Unfortunately, I think only Thoriel (and Shirley and Effy) were that close, when the roar happened. But still, a +2 extra, if it stacks with that mystery +3.
Etu Free-As-Wind |
I'm pretty sure the +3 is the morale bonus from Etu's Sermonic Performance.

The reaver is currently 10' up. It descended from 20' last round, which is mainly why he was able to move as rapidly as he was. I assume that the stage is 5' up, which means those on the stage are adjacent to him. Extremely clutch bard song, especially with the double to +6
The courage of many pathfinders begins to falter, but they take strength in Etu's sermon that Desna will kepe them free. Unfortunately, the Eldritch doesn't believe in Desna's power, just his own, and it shows as a panicked look overtakes his face. Effy doesn't quite understand it either, but Shirley says " That bastard took my arm, onward!" and the owlbear believes him.
Roland opens the groups efforts with a hail of arrows, most of which strike true as the beast roars more.

Shirley curses as the reaver goes the other direction. With a mighty cry, he spurs Effy forward.
The owlbear's claws rip gouges in the floor, as it surges ahead, wheeling at the end of the pews, and continues gaining speed as it charges down the main aisle.
"You eat my arm!" He cries angrily. "Now I eat yours!"

We've heard more powerful from Effy!" Etu took a step to the side, seemingly slipping into the world between realms and reappearing not too far away.
Working her holy symbol and speaking the words of power, a wave of good luck sprang forth from Etu's hands, affecting her teammates positively and the Reaver negatively.

The Eldritch needs no god, as his belief in himself is sufficent to see him through, despite a moment of doubt. He fires off a bolt that strikes the creature squarely
Thoriel sees the beast far away from her, and sees that Riddywipple's glitterdust fails. She worries about Shirley, having just regrown his arm, and casts bear's endurance. no botting instructions, and its been close to 36 hours.
Etu and Pai decide that next to this beast, despite there taunts, is not where they want to be.
Shirley angrily charges in on Effy's back, striking the creature true. Effy similarly attacks the creature and adds insult to injury.
The Eldritch's final mystic bolt brings the beast down, denying it an opportunity to eat Shirley.
Combat is over... Grabbing the helm made this much easier. If Pai hadn't done that you would have fought the mythic version, which can just negate attacks, has a higher AC, etc...
I actually originally totaled damage wrong and had rolled things up... it totally ate Shirley this round, 136 damage from a full attack, albiet with a crit... @Eldritch, good use of a reroll!
