Trying to figure out our Marching Order. It always reminds me of those Logic Puzzles-- "Blue Shirt doesn't want to sit next to Yellow Hat, but Yellow Hat must be sitting beside Red Pants. Is there any way to make everyone happy?"

With the added caveat of having to deal with real-world politeness ("I don't want to take point if someone else wants to!) and five other people trying to solve the same puzzle with different sets of information!

That said, I came up with a little idea-- I've marked Vulpina with a Comment espousing my preferences. If you do the same, we can sort out who wants to be where, who absolutely should not be in front, who assigned their martial a place in the middle before they realized the party was entirely Squishy Wizards, etc.

(Side note: there's a weirdly high number of modules that assume somebody has Profession (sailor)...)

Went ahead and scooted Vulpina up front, so that Korum can stab me in the back strike over my shoulder.

Note that, whenever possible, Vulpina will Dodging Panache or Gunslinger's Dodge (as appropriate).

I didn't realize, I thought Makras was the sixth. You know, despite looking at our full roster of 5 people. I've got no trouble proceeding as is.


There are just many looking for games so I just asked. If you want to proceed with five I am absolutely fine with that.

I echo the ambivalence as to adding a player. I don't mind. Not sure we need the help, but won't turn it away if it shows up.

I understand trying to be inclusive and taking in players looking for a game. If that is what is best for the greater community, then I say go for it.


Hi guys, I had included this in a spoiler but based on Torku’s question here the details on the terrain.

Bog and Rubble Rules:

The map roughly shows the different terrains, I have tagged each different section with what it is, I’ll try to put narrative clues in as well.
Bogs: If a square is part of a shallow bog, it has deep mud or standing water of about 1 foot in depth. It costs 2 squares of movement to move into a square with a shallow bog, and the DC of Acrobatics checks in such a square increases by 2.

A square that is part of a deep bog has roughly 4 feet of standing water. It costs Medium or larger creatures 4 squares of movement to move into a square with a deep bog, or characters can swim if they wish. Small or smaller creatures must swim to move through a deep bog. Tumbling is impossible in a deep bog.

The water in a deep bog provides cover for Medium or larger creatures. Smaller creatures gain improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves). Medium or larger creatures can crouch as a move action to gain this improved cover. Creatures with this improved cover take a –10 penalty on attacks against creatures that aren't underwater.

Both shallow and deep bogs increase the DC of Stealth checks by 2.

The Climbable Rubble is actually quite stable and provides no movement penalties, but does require a DC 10 climb check to get on top.

Dang, what are the boggies wearing, armor-wise? (It doesn't strictly matter, but I like trying to figure these things out! Can they not be caught flat-footed? Do they have a deflection bonus of some kind?)


They have uncanny dodge as they are Barbarians! :-)

They wear the armor you see on the picture and have an unbelievably tough hide.

Nearly. I forgot the second die when calculating the bonus damage, so I had to edit the roll. Still, it's the hardest this character has ever hit. Now I just have to make this weapon KEEN.

To clarify: GM, is the spike part of the trap disabled? Or does Torku need to try again? There wasn't any resolution to the previous roll other than "be careful".
