GM Otha |
The man meekly nods his head to the gnome, saying very lightly, ”Thank you...”
The woman’s eyes light up in rage at the beginning of Kiboko’s words, but by the end she shrinks back in fear. ”Callistria...uh...uh...alright...as long as I’m not the weakest...”
So, right now, we have Kiboko as the strongest and Quiella as the weakest...unless there are other posts debating the point, I’ll move us forward later tonight...
Fendel, CSI: Absalom |
The detective concededs the point as to whom is the strongest.
I hope he knows what he's doing.
GM Otha |
The robed figure steps forward. "Your time is up! The strongest, followed by the weakest will step forth!"
As Kiboko, and then Quiella, comes forward, the robed figure nods and then addresses all of you. "Congratulations! The final stage of your initiation is about to begin." He pauses, then follows with "Soon," he whispers, "you too will feast upon the heart."
He hands each of you bags, explaining, "Place these bags over your head, and then we will proceed..." He then awaits for each of you to do so...
Quiella |
Quiella glances at Kiboko and then puts the bag over her head
Teric Cain |
Teric takes the hood and holds it up to his head. He wrinkles his nose. "Fah! Did you even wash this since the last initiates? I think I can still smell their breath in here! Or...oh gods! Is that snot? Really?" He looks at the robed man to see his reaction.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Kiboko |
Kiboko glares at the cult guide, then puts the hood on and steps forwards.
Activate Wolf Focus to gain Scent ability
jing kwan |
Jing Kwan goes from party member to party member, touching each in turn saying.."Stay calm and have no fear. All will be well."..as he casts Message.
Targets: one creature/level Duration: 10 min./level Saving Throw: none Spell Resistance: no Description: You can whisper messages and receive whispered replies. Those nearby can hear these messages with a DC 25 Perception check. You point your finger at each creature you want to receive the message. When you whisper, the whispered message is audible to all targeted creatures within range. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal (or a thin sheet of lead), or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks the spell. The message does not have to travel in a straight line. It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path's entire length lies within the spell's range. The creatures that receive the message can whisper a reply that you hear. The spell transmits sound, not meaning; it doesn't transcend language barriers. To speak a message, you must mouth the words and whisper.
GM Otha |
I'm going to assume that everyone acquiesces and wears the bags over their heads...
Once everyone has a bag over their heads, you hear two doors open; the one to the east and the one to the north. As the strongest and weakest, Kiboko and Quiella feel themselves being lead east. The rest of you, along with the two initiates, feel yourself being led north...
Two posts are incoming in a little while; it's important to note that they happen simultaneously. Just an FYI as I didn't want it to appear that any of you in one room to think you could react immediately to what was happening in the other. Also, your bags have not been removed as yet..
GM Otha |
After entering the room, Kiboko and Quiella hear the door shut. They hear footsteps approaching them; Kiboko senses those footsteps to stop in front of him. He feels his hood being pulled off to reveal an attractive Varisian woman who can only be one person; her description matches perfectly to the Pathfinder they were sent after, Charito Menas. Her smile reveals two very distinct pointed teeth...Kiboko knows in his heart that she if Pathfinder no more and had been turned into this vampiric creature...
After Charito's sultry smile, she intones, "The greatest gift Lissala to offer is eternal life. It shall be yours. But there is one last rite you must undergo, to show us that you are dedicated to the goddess above all else. Take this knife, and with it, remove the heart of the wretch before you. Feast upon that heart, for those who are unworthy to serve in life should feed those who rule with their blood. The blood will baptize you, and the hour of your glorious transformation will be at hand."
She hands Kiboko the knife and then nods to the still blind-folded Quiella, whom another cultist has pushed down to her knees...
Have to go eat...will post the other 'simultaneous' post afterwards...
GM Otha |
Seldann, Fendel, Teric, Tiny, and Jing are lined up in the room they were led to...and their bags are removed and they face three black-robed cultists. The same one that spoke to them in the room before speaks again...
"You are now fully ready to serve Lissala...but my brothers and I will now ensure that your devotion is total..."
Their eyes light up red; Teric, Jing, and Tiny sense their mind being probed/conditioned...
Will (Teric): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Will (Jing): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Will (Tiny): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Teric and Jing fight off the probe, and Tiny is unaffected...
Jing, is there anything disallowing your eidolon's mind from being dominated? ETA: From what I can tell, the vampire's dominate only works on humanoids, and I don't think an eidolon is considered as such. And, right now, as far as these cultists can tell from the robes, Tiny is just some large dude...
Right now, the ball is in your court...what do you do?
Quiella |
knowledge, religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Quiella does not move, nor make a sound.
Kiboko can see and so read the room. I trust him... And if he betrays me now, Erastil will protect me. She thinks to herself in total calm.
don't know what you have in mind, Kiboko, but moving to take out her heart and then ripping off her mask instead sounds dramatically baller
jing kwan |
"That, was a mistake." says Jink Kwan with a sly smile. He then casts a spell...
Glitterdust: DC=20
...and tells Tiny, "Protect me!".
Jing Kwan then takes a step back, removing his robe as he does.
Range: medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) Area: creatures and objects within 10-ft.-radius spread Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: Will negates (blinding only) Spell Resistance: no Description:
A cloud of golden particles covers everyone and everything in the area, causing creatures to become blinded and visibly outlining invisible things for the duration of the spell. All within the area are covered by the dust, which cannot be removed and continues to sparkle until it fades. Each round at the end of their turn blinded creatures may attempt new saving throws to end the blindness effect. Any creature covered by the dust takes a –40 penalty on Stealth checks.
Jing Kwan's Tiny |
"Yes, Master!!!" roars Tiny, glad to be fighting at last. He rips off his robes and steps forward, drawing his sword as he goes.
Not sure if it counts as a single action since he has two attacks a round now but not quickdraw. I would think he still has just the one since he moved, etc. If not, just disregard the following attack.
greatsword(+1; adamantite; Holy) vs. Red: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
possible Magic/Adamantite/Slashing damage vs. Red: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5) + 8 = 19
possible Holy damage vs. Red(if Evil): 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
Teric Cain |
Knowledge, Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Weaknesses, specifically do they have all the vampire weaknesses?
"Well, that was a fun game! They're vampire spawn! Use silver if you can beat them down!" Teric holds up a hand and fire shoots out, covering two of the spawn.
Burn Red and Black
Burning Hands (Reflex DC18 for half): 5d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 2, 4) = 15
Fendel, CSI: Absalom |
I didn't see a roll for me, so just in case that was an oversight.
Will vs ?? {+Inspiration}: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 10 + (6) = 31
And if we are doing things...
Fendel concentrates momentarily on his weapon, temporarily making it more deadly toward the [INSERT OBSERVED BAD GUY HERE] in the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 36 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 36 + (6) = 54
Fen looks for any hidden adversaries and the missing Pathfinder agent.
Seldanna Marzanna |
Kn. Religion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Taking the others' word that these are indeed vampire spawn, which seems extremely likely, Seldanna knows her usual mind-affecting tricks will be useless on these particular foes.
Instead, she raises her hand in the sign of a hex and spits out a harsh word in an ancient tongue.
Misfortune (DC23) on Black. Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result. Duration 2 rounds. A Will save negates this hex.
Kiboko |
Will be able to post properly in a few hours but yes, Kiboko has pretty much the same idea as Quiella here ;)
Kiboko |
As he accepts the knife, Kiboko's free hand goes under his black robe and into the pouch that holds Mvumbu. He grasps the statuette. Now Kiboko has need of you, dearest friend.
"...remove the heart of the wretch before you..." Kiboko repeats, parrot-fashion. Yes, Kiboko will remove your heart, Charito
Kiboko drops Mvumbu at his feet and speaks the command word to restore her as he pulls Quiella's hood off.
"A wretch indeed!"
I don't see Charito and her minion on the map, but will seek to 5' step out of a flank as well if necessary
Kiboko |
I see the bad guys on the map now GM. Kiboko will remain in the square next to Quiella if that's ok. The enemies can't easily flank either of us that way.
GM Otha |
@Fendel: There are only 3 cultists and they can only attempt to dominate one person each at a time so you & Seldanna weren't targeted. As for your weapon, Charito Menas is the biggest bad guy in the fight but she's not visible to you; the three cultists you face are equal, so take your pick...
@Kiboko: Dropping it sounds fine by me; sorry, meant to put the Charito/cultist icons in your room before I went to bed and forgot.
@Jing: With the large robes, Tiny could've easily have had his weapon in hand before hostilities, so no worries there...
While the two initiates cower in the back corner, the rest of you act!
Kiboko/Mvumbu: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Jing Kwan/Tiny: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Teric: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Fendel: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Feasters of the Heart: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Charito Menas: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Having resisted their domination, Jing casts glitterdust upon the the Feasters...
Will (Black): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Will (Red): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Will (Yellow): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
...and while all of them glow, only the red one is blinded. Upon Jing's command, Tiny steps forwards and slashes at the blinded cultist...and his swords slices deeply, causing the cultist to hiss in pain, although it did not cause quite as much damage as expected.
Seldanna hexes the black Feaster...
Will (Black): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
...and he will be cursed with misfortune the next couple of rounds...
Teric follows up, casting fire at red and black...
Reflex (Black): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Reflex (Black): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Reflex (Red): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
...and they feel its full effects, with the blinded Red barely able to stand...
Fendel enchants his weapon and takes a closer look at this surroundings...he finds no hidden foes nor does he see the missing Pathfinder...
Meanwhile, in the other room, Kiboko gets the drop on the Pathfinder turned vampire, bringing Mvumbu, the Wise & Beautiful into the fray, while removing the bag from Quiella's head to allow her to see...

If Mvumbu's attack confirmed a crit, then Outflank generates an AoO for Kiboko
GM Otha |
Mvumbu and Kiboko unleash an absolutely devastating barrage of blows upon the vampire formerly known as Charito Menas. Mvumbu the Wise & Beautiful turns into Mvumbu the Fierce & Vindictive as she chomps into the vampire with two vicious bites, the second felling her to here knees, hissing in pain. Kiboko steps up and delivers the coup, his great sword cutting into her side like butter, dropping the fell creature to the ground before she's even able to let out a scream...as she falls, Kiboko follows up with another strike for good measure...
While down, Kiboko knows that, being a vampire, she's not yet dead...

surprise round
Quiella likewise drops the Sèriè statuette and speaks the command word; the majestic and well-armored reindeer appears before her.
Quiella |
My trust in that noble half-orc was well placed she thinks to herself
"Did you bring a stake Kiboko?" Quiella asks, kicking herself for not getting one.
She turns her attention to the Cultist beside her, drawing her greatsword and bringing it down decisively on the Cultist's neck.

Quiella brings Sèriè into play and then attacks...
She draws her great sword and brings it down heavily on the cultist, who's still in shock from seeing his mistress fall, and it slashes heavily across his chest...while it doesn't do quite as much damage as it normally would, the cultist is obviously hurting...
I'll go ahead and run through blue's attack as Seldanna's move won't affect him...

"Kiboko has two stakes Quiella."
Seldanna Marzanna |
Seldanna turns her attention to the yellow robed cultist, sending a curse in his direction with another wave of her hand, letting out a strange cackling laugh as she does so.
Misfortune (DC23) on Yellow. Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result. Duration 2 rounds. A Will save negates this hex.
Cackle to extend duration of all active hexes by 1 round.

Mvumbu |
"Moooarrghhh!! Haaarrr!!!"
Mvumbu the Wise and Beautiful stands ready to defend her friend. Default to Defend trick, ready to defend Kiboko.
Fendel, CSI: Absalom |
Master and Mistress? So, at least to others. Perhaps that is the disturbance coming from the other room.
"Lissala seems to have abandoned you, much like those who spawned you. I thought there was an actual threat here, not a disappointing band of street toughs with delusions of grandeur." Yes, keep talking. Take the bait!
GM Otha |
While Mvumbu stands guard, Kiboko drives a stake into the heart of Charito Menas...as he does, her eyes open fiercely and she gives a hiss...only for a moment though as her eyes return to normal and her hiss transforms to a "Thank you," and then she moves no more...

resurrection or true resurrection could bring her back from the dead in spite of her condition. Raise dead could not.
"We should behead her and return the whole body to the Society." Once she has a moment, Quiella sets to the grisly work of staking and then beheading the cultist.
Then before moving through the next door she uses her wand of shield and casts divine favor with her extend rod before mounting Sèriè and drawing her Lance.
UMD, use Shield wand, anything but a 1: 1d20 ⇒ 1
edit: ninja'd
Quiella replies to the message "Charito and another Cultist dispatched in here and we are staking and beheading them. Meet us here; I think there are more of them in the next room"
double-edit: just saw my roll. Oh well
Quiella also casts shield of faith and Divine favor on Sèriè with the extend rod if given enough time
