Zora weaves her way back to the front, using her diminutive stature and agile skills to make little fuss.
"I doubt they have traps here, since Nigel should have warned us, but sometimes these researchers get a little crazy and paranoid. So let's be careful."
Are there any tracks in the dust or statues that do not have as much dust as they should?
Assuming it looks clear, Zora will stealthily proceed to the next door to check it for traps and sounds beyond.
As Zora draws near the two hideous 10-foot tall Vudran temple guardians eyes begin to glow and their heads turn toward her. The one further back leaves it's pedestal and extending stony wings to balance itself. A pair of seven foot long swords sweep upward from their resting positions toward her neck.

I had moved Story into the room if that is ok, as that is what I had posted just before you posted. I was hoping a 32 perception might have been enough to give some warning, no?

That's fine.
I was hoping a 32 perception might have been enough to give some warning, no?
Nope. At Stormy's current range she would have needed a 39 or better. Welcome to the highest tier. :D

![]() |

I am surprised they saw me!
"Trouble ahead!" Zora shouts as swords slice at her. I must be getting old to not have noticed them!
Not that it matters in this case, but Zora has improved uncanny dodge, so she can't be caught flatfooted or flanked.
Zora draws both her short swords. Going on the defensive, she lashes out with just the adamantine blade, assuming it will be necessary against living statues of stone.
Fighting defensively will boost her AC to 24 for the round, and move action to draw blades. Std attack on defensive, and then 5'step away.
+1 adamantive blade vs blue, fighting defensively: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 4 = 9
Damage, very unlikely: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"A little help here..."
Then she steps back and to the side, hoping to limit her being a target to just one of them.

![]() |

Yabatha grins, "Gargoyels? How did they get down here? ... don't tell me they were moved here in statue form? ..." She will move into possition and cast glitterdust on both of them.
DC 17 Glitterdust, will save, or blind.

At the last word of her spell Yabatha causes the air around the two to explode with sparkles. The statues' red-glowing eyes however do not seem to be dazzled by the effect.
The one further back (black) swepts forward into Grog with a guttural roar! AoO Zora v black.
It slams into the half-orc, but only scores a glancing blow thanks to the tight confines.

The other chuckles malevolently as it advances upon Zora, though it's mouth seems to barely move. It swings its sword and the halfling easily evades but the stony monster quickly lowers its head and mauls her badly. There's a lot of blood on the floor about her.

These things are the biggest gargoyles I have ever seen! Magic is required to get past the stony hardness of their skin. And normally they attack with tooth and claw. I have not seen them use weapons before.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Zora, you might want to fix your current hp, so folks know how dire things might be.
And Radaghast...
Radagast moves forward.
Where too exactly? And do you need help moving your icon on the map?

![]() |

Done. I will be slinking away as soon as it is her turn, but given that they saw me at the start, I am not sure it will do much good.

![]() |

Shade cannot hurt these things as he does not have magic weapons and can only on a good role bypass the DR and just by a point or two. He can assist AC and to hit though and can become a target if needed.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

"I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING!" cries Viebot.
I've left a PM for Vie, but since it has been nearly a week since his last check in, I want to give folks the option of discussing his possible tactics should it come to botting him later today. So he could make it into the room with a move action, leaving him a standard to possibly cast one of the following likely spells. glitterdust (his DC is the same as Yabatha's so it is a 50/50 chance to blind each of the giant gargoyles), or haste (which gives some small buffs to defense--helping Zora survive--as well as a lot of offense which helps everyone). Thoughts? Any other options on Vie that you like?

![]() |

I am good either way. The way you are rolling I would lean towards Haste, which is a sure thing. With Shades' assist Zora would have +3 to AC. One issue is with their reach Zora cannot safely withdreaw - and they both threaten. If they became blinded she could, but only a 25% chance to blind both.

![]() |

I can hide in plain sight too, and intend to do so. I also have a bonus to AC vs AoO. So either works for me.

Not nearly as much as Radaghast probably had hoped unless he has some way of inflicting magical natural weapon damage.

I realize they may be old hat for Radaghast, but could you list that somewhere that's visible for your overworked GM? Also it would be nice if you made mention you are full-time dinosaur for RP sake, because you sort of look like a hair old guy in all your pictures, and Hestram would have given you some of his pocket chicken during the mission meeting. ;)
And the (black) gargoyle crumbles to a large pile of dust.
