Hoping that the statue crumbles before it can strike, Utility Protagonist summons forth another green ray of energy.

The combined fire of the Starfinders causes the statue to crumble, suddenly, catastrophically!

COMBAT OVER!

PbP Intro Slides |Roderic's Cove

When the last guardian is defeated, the black growth explodes in a burst of brilliant blue light, revealing a glowing holy symbol of Yaraesa in the center of the menhir. The sky, perverted with the glowing holy symbol of the Devourer, reverts to normal.

Venture-Captain Arvin radios the team and is relieved that you've managed to cleanse Yaraesa’s marker. "Good work, Starfinders. I knew I could count on you, especially after I watched Drifting Through the Universe's last few epidoes. That Xxvik Vid, wow, what a hero!" he says, with appreciation. "This is what being a Starfinder is ALL about!"

"Did you happen to capture any images of the symbols on the upper half of the menhir? They may be clues to unlocking heretofore unknown secrets of planar physics. The physics guys will be overjoyed, if you did!"

Ve'Shek looks around the debris and simply states, "The Light prevailed."

If there is 10 minutes to spare, he goes over to Bega and does a Healing Touch on him for 5 HP. He will let Xxvik respond to the Venture-Captain.

He pats the Ysoki on the shoulder, "Good job getting out of that tight situation, Bega."

Bega beams with pride for a moment!

Then he scurries over to Xxvik. "Er...excuse me. Were you able to get some video of the white equations, sir? Could you play it back so we can see?"

Just in case, Bega spits out his spare power pack, puts it in his harmonic dirge pistol, then tucks the somewhat depleted one into his cheek.

Xxvik checks his equipment to make sure it isn't damaged.

"Venture-Captain Arvin - my equipment all seems in order, and I haven't stopped recording since we got to this grove. I was focusing on the white equations for documentation when we were attacked. I haven't had a chance to take a look at the footage, but I'm sure I got some of it.

Happy to meet a fan of my work. You are in good company. Did you know that ZO! is a subscriber?

Thank you for your kind complements of my humble show. I'm happy that the heroism of the Society really shines. I'm sure after this episode posts my subscriber count will skyrocket! My team did amazing work here!"

I did spend a lot of time filming the entire menhir when the team was investigating it and solving the first equation - https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75ivkyo/gameplay&page=4#193

Additionally, I was shooting footage specifically of the white equations when we were attacked - https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75ivkyo/gameplay&page=5#208

Venture Captain's Castrovelian-tinged Common crackles over the comm units, disrupted slightly by the planetary gravitational anomalies.

"Good work, Starfinders. I'm glad you got some vid of that. Upload it when you're back in your ship. By the way, we're measuring a much more regular gravitational field near where you. It matches readings we're getting at other, intact and uncorrupted, menhirs.

I've got another mission for you, now that you've wrapped that one up.

Mission Briefing:

The Devourer cultists who’ve already spread across this planet seem intent on corrupting the menhirs that keep the planet from falling into the nearby black hole. Your next assignment is to prevent the cultists from destroying more markers with their foul rituals. Based off what we’ve learned from the locals and our own reconnaissance, the easiest way to do so is to swap out some of the cultists’ ritual components for extremely similar substances you can find in this jungle. We’ve identified a site the Devourer cultists are using to store their ritual components. Go into the nearby jungle and retrieve some pollen from a baneflower, crushed nightvine fruit, and the secretions from a tanisk. Use these to pollute the Devourer’s cache of components. I’ve attached coordinates to the Devourer cultists’ cache. Be quick to complete this, as you’ll need to add these pollutants before the cultists return![/b]

What do we know about Baneflower, Nightvine Fruit and a Tanisk? Can we do knowledge checks or computer checks to see what they look like, if they are dangerous, etc? Use ship sensors to locate?

If there was 10 minutes to spare before the Venture-Captain showed up then Ve'Shek healed you several posts ago. We would have taken a 10 minute rest and could have spent RP to recoup SP as well. If not, then we can do it now.

[ooc]Doh! I read that post too fast and missed the healing in it. I was so excited about the priest-parishoner interaction, I jumped to respond and didn't read carefully. Thank you for the healing and for answering my question!

ALMOST, Utility Protagonist! Just missed it.

BAM!

Xxivk's search of the infosphere finds recently uploaded data from THIS Starfinder mission! Somebody named "Thisteglu Iathow," an Izaalgun Starfinder on the far side of the planet, but in the same latitudes, catalogued several new species of flora and fauna, among them Baneflowers, Nightvines, and the froglike Tanisks.

Xenoflora Record 55746X-Enereth-7: Baneflowers are VERY foul smelling and have a tendency to grow low to the ground near pathways. The baneflower exudes a residue, a kind of crystalline pollen that is quite annoying.

Xenoflora Record 55790X-Enereth-7: The greenish-blue vines the quorlu population calls "nightvines" grow high in the forest canopy of the jungles found on Enereth-7's tropical latitudes. Nightvines have red fruiting bodies that resemble small, soft crystals. Removing a nightvine can be difficult. Any damage to it causes the parent vine to exude chemicals that make the damaged vine thrash wildly. Care is required.

Xenofauna Record 88738-Enereth-7: The tiny frog-like creatures the quorlu call 'tanisks' (the correct pronuncition is difficult for izaalgun vocal organs, but humans seem to have no problem), are found near any muddy stream in the jungle latitudes. The creatures are non-sentient and are not aggressive or overtly dangerous, but are VERY quick when threatened. When squeezed, a secretion on its back can be seen. Tanisks, it appears, display a resistance to various medical grade acids used in testing.
