Yeah, for future missions everyone should commit and roll, then we add up.
Is this a requirement of the reporting form, or just a good practice?
In other words, does the sheet add what you report, or replace your previous report? I ask to make sure reporting is accurate for areas where multiple encounters can contribute the same category of success.

My table has had one Gallowgarden encounter success, which I reported, and two Scout Aid Mission successes. I'm waiting to hear from the third, final player. Should I report Aid Mission successes as they occur, or should I wait until I have the result from all three?
GM Dennis

Either is fine for this round. It adds them up, and in this case we've already reached the milestone, so the point of their rolls now is just so that they earn the boon for participating.
For future aid missions, I'd like you to wait and report however many successes your table has amassed (even if that's 0) all at once, so that I can see when every table has reported. Doing them one at a time might trigger me to post the result before you are done, assuming that was your total.

We've still got something like ~5 days scheduled left on this part. However, all but one table has finished at least one encounter, and one of our fabulous backup GMs is helping that one get their first encounter finished off. I'm tempted to move us along as soon as they're done. If you have strong feelings about taking more time, let me know. Also, if you finish an encounter in the next day or two, hold off on starting another one.
GM Cwethan
Moving on sounds fine to me; I've got a hit-and-running tree that I'm sure my table would rather not fight anymore :-p
GM Doug H
We just had a character death in the 10-11 Soldier so moving on is fine by me.

Our team could also benefit from a second Aid Token, I think. They took a lot of ability damage, mostly CON.
I'm still waiting to hear from one player about his Aid Character attempting the Scout mission. I don't want him or her to miss the opportunity.
I'll let you know as soon as the player checks in again.
GM Doug H
GMs,
I have a thoughtful, brave Level 14 front-line Soldier down about 50 hit points, who has asked whether a spare Healing Aid Token might be available?
Can anyone help her out?
We had 1 more success, so done. Hopefully, someone else can help with the ability damage Lorenzo.
GM Hawthwile
We also just wrapped up an encounter, so this is an excellent point to move things forward for us.

Could someone pass along an Aid Token (Spellcasting) to my table? The team suffered lots of ability damage.

Aid Character Role: Spellcaster
Effect: The Aid Character either casts a beneficial spell or helps someone who can cast such a spell to reach the PCs. The spellcaster
casts one of the following spells, with a caster level equal to the Aid Character’s level: consecrate, heroism, invisibility, mage armor, neutralize poison, remove blindness/deafness, remove curse, or restoration (100-gp version). Write the spell name and caster level on the Aid Token. When activating this token, gain the benefits of the listed spell. For restoration, the Aid Character can pay the cost and write PAID on the Aid Token; if the do not, the character applying the token pays the cost.
Heroic Aid: Add the following spells to the list: break enchantment, dispel magic, and restoration (1,000-gp version).
Team asks, and I wish to confirm: Benefits only one PC, correct?
GM Dennis
|
I believe it's just a casting of that spell, with all the same parameters as if a cleric were casting it next to you.
shaventalz
Looking ahead a little bit, I'd like to confirm something.
The Strength check in area B2 (under "Weaken the Physical Structure") says it takes 10 minutes. The Athletic Assistance aid token says it helps for one round.
Is the token intended to not work on this? It's the only actual Strength check in the scenario (along with the Strength requirement in the Champion pillar encounter). It seems like this was what the token was intended to help with.

I checked with my table, just to make sure everyone who wanted to try the mission could, and I have one mroe success - should I be reporting it, since we already got what we needed?
Now that I understand the mechanics better, future aid missions should go on without issues.

No need to report it, since we've already reached the milestone. I'll be much more clear about the next aid mission as well.

Thanks Lome. Everyone, I've launched us to part 3! Let me know if you didn't get a post from me.

How much time passes (for the purposes of buffs, conditions, etc) between Part 2 and Part 3? I looked but I can't find any indication.
Thanks.

Thanks.
The timing question was raised back here without any answer.
The first encounter happens halfway into the jungle, but there's no indication of how large the jungle actually is. I went with the jungle being 20 minutes across, so 10 minutes from encounter to crater. Then another 10-20 minutes climbing down into the crater.

I have a player that have been withdrawing from my game because of two point of rules we have been issue on.
I will declare his character dead at the end of the game.

I'll go with minutes-per-level buffs have expired during the transition and the descent into the crater.

There is at least an indication of how long it takes to climb inside the crater. It's 10 minutes or 20 minutes, depending on whether they can pass a Climb check.
See page 16.
Part 3 begins with the PCs’ descent into the crater. With a
relatively safe staging area set up at the top of the crater, the
Pathfinders can descend though both mundane and magical
means in relative safety. PCs who wish to climb down need
only succeed at a DC 20 Climb check. PCs who fail this Climb
check reach the bottom of the crater after 20 minutes. PCs
who succeed at the check or who use magical methods need
only 10 minutes.

GMAndrewW and GM Ilmakis, let's take this discussion out of this thread. I'll PM you.

Yeah, I saw time analysis/query post earlier, I picked up on the time it takes to descend to the bottom of the crater.
Most Specials discuss the time between encounters and transitions between the scenario's various parts, but I thought I might have missed something on my own read-throughs.
I just went with a general 'rounds/minutes-per-level buffs' will have expired by the time you reach the bottom of the crater.

Yeah, it's a bit of a hole.
My group did do what I was somewhat worried about, and got some buffs up at the beginning of the jungle. So the size of the jungle mattered heading into the first fight and the second fight.

I'm doing the same thing between parts. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Success on primary. I have 2 Heroic tokens to give away: Scout and Spellcasting. Does anyone need them, or haven't seen a token in a while? Will check in the morning.

shaventalz wrote:Am I correct in reading that each table can have at most one Bypass success?Looks like it, Mirrors and Wards is only run once. We only need 3/5ths of the number of tables to get Bypass successes.
I was thinking more along the lines of each PC passing multiple checks.
Page 17 says 2/5 Bypass successes. The bit that might matter, though, is the fact that Bypas successes turn into Clue successes after the Silent Shrine opens.
Likely doesn't matter that much, though.

This would be the place to let me know if you need a spell. It's heroic so I was thinking break enchantment or 1000 GP resto.

I believe you are supposed to choose the spell when you generate the aid token (given you are supposed to write the spell and caster level on the physical token), not when you pass it on.
