Earlier:
"Uh, Kala? You can also sense magic, yes?"
"Uh, yeah, kinda. But I'm not very good at it." Deciding she might as well give it a whirl, despite having no faith that she'll be able to do more than the others, Kala casts Detect Magic and stares at the objects in question.
Detect Magic DC 18: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Detect Magic DC 28: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Of course, she can't get a read on them. "Uhh, yeah. I got nothing. Sorry." She hands them back. "Why do we have these, again? I mean," she continues, her voice beginning to trail off as if she expects no one to listen or think she has a good point. "If we're trying to negotiate with them to stop framing us, maybe stealing from them isn't the best idea. Maybe. I dunno." Unless the plan is to just kill them all. That would work, except for the proving we're not a bunch of vicious murderers. Ugh. Why do things have to be so hard?
Currently
“UNCLE TITUS! SIX PATHFINDERS PLUS AN ANIMAL COMPANION APPROACH! MIDDLING COMPETENCE!”
“TWO DUELISTS, WIZARD, HOLY KNIGHT, FORESTER AND WOLVERINE, TIEN INQUISITOR.”
... Jerk. I guess we deserved that, but still. Jerk. "Well, no use in being slow now. Stinky, heel." Kala strides to the next doorway and ushers Stinky in first, nudging him gently with the toe of her boot. "Go on, boy. You can do it."
Push Animal Companion DC 25: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Rolling her eyes at the stubborn wolverine, she steps past him, draws her warhammer, and begins squeezing through the passage, holding it out before her.
She is definitely passive-aggressively taking point in the hopes that she can prevent another fiasco.
If the passage is dark, she'll cast Light on the warhammer before entering it.
Stinky the Wolverine
|
What? Why are you pushing me? No, I don't want to go down the stinky tunnel. That place smells bad. Like, not in any good way. You shouldn't go there, either, but obviously you are. So I guess I gotta come too. You did say to heel, so I guess I have to. But mark my words, this smell is bad news!
Time will tell if Stinky's nose is prescient.
Loam Yin
|
Loam sighs. "How quickly his complete innocence and woe-is-me attitude faded." If no one objects, the ratfolk stows the unidentified items in a corner. She gets ready to follow fast, leaving at least two spots for those who would rather be closer to the front.
Lady Vulpina
|
Lady Vulpina jostles for a spot near the front, but gracefully slips out of the way if anyone would really prefer to go ahead of her (so feel free to move her a space up or down!).
"It is hardly a sign of guilt to warn of our impending arrival," admits Vulpina, "although it is a reminder that it would be most prudent to muffle fallen foes in these situations."
Andor Katsu
|
Andor is small sized like a halfling and runs down the passage in his hasted form.
Sleeping Sword
|
"That fool is either going to come running back in here in a few seconds, get killed, or kill everyone in front of him."
Sleeping Sword files in behind Korum, drawing his katana.
Bloodshed seems inevitable with Andor.

This 30-foot-diameter cylindrical room is carved to resemble the interior of a swirling cyclone of air, although stringy roots, clumps of mold, and thin trickles of mud seeping from cracks in the walls break the dizzying architectural illusion.
In the center of the room is a diverse array of glass flasks, plant-rubber tubes, mortars and pestles, and other alchemical ephemera, placed carefully on top of a large stone sarcophagus. Next to this makeshift worktable is a tall wooden barrel topped with a wooden lid.
A swaying lantern hangs from a 20-foot length of rusty chain set into the 30-foot-high ceiling, bathing the tomb in constantly shifting luminance that is quite disorienting.
A helical stairway, formed out of a plume of cut stone, ascends the interior of the hewn stone cyclone, ending at a balcony twenty feet above the floor. Neither the balcony nor the stairway has railings of any kind.
At floor level you are confronted by a tall scarlet-skinned tiefling armed with a longspear, standing behind a vapor-spewing metal drum. A shredded ear, empty eye-socket and broken horn on the the right side of his face suggests he succumbed to a grievous chymical accident at some point in his career.
His partner is a short, heavy-set Varisian man, with shaggy, shoulder-length hair and matching greasy mustache. He points a dripping rapier in your direction, before calling over your heads.
“Got ‘em! Thanks, Miguel. We’ll take it from here.”

Loam is careful in case of a repeat of the prior incident, even in the face of these two characters. Her pistol is still out. "Your comrade neglected to mention a chance to avoid bloodshed. Realistically, Kala wouldn't know that Stinky is confused, since he attacked the bad guy as she expected.
So very relieved and grateful that Punko Titus retreated, Kala steps over Stinky, determined to keep herself between her grievously wounded partner and the enemy's sword. Sleeping Sword
|
Kala, I think there's a good chance that Stinky passed the save with an 18. If he didn't it doesn't change Sleeping Sword's actions though, a confused creature cannot make AoOs.
Sleeping Sword squeezes through the narrow corridor and swiftly assesses the situation. Seeing Titus surrounded, he rushes through the green mist to join Korum facing off against the tiefling.
Acrobatics past Titus, if he's still up: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 moving full speed, so DC to avoid AoO increases by 10 but I'll benefit from the mist's concealment.

Too busy focussing on Loam’s tail-blade, Titus Terliss never sees the one that gets him.
A feral six-foot angernaut applies a glancing hammer-blow to the side of the rogue’s head which drops him like a sack of greasy spuds.
Stinky’s system finally works the poison over, clearing his mind sufficiently to heed Kala’s command to back-off, though the wolverine maintains the rage.
No longer confused, per PFS guidelines, Stinky does not go after Sleeping Sword.
Lady Vulpina steps out of the toxic waste and while mourning her fancy kickers, her piece misfires and her blade air-swings over the descendent Uncle Titus.

Confident that the five other Pathfinders can handle Abby, she strides down the tunnel as quickly as she can squeeze (which ends up looking rather ridiculous), switching places with Stinky in an awkward couple of hops as he moves back to a spot behind her heels. You are denying the Hunger. Feel it. Accept it. Only then can your attacks connect. Only then can his ki flow into yours.
Sleeping Sword skirts the acid pool and moves closer to Stinky and Kala, in order to be able to pursue Miguel should he flee. I haven't moved on the map though.
Andor Katsu

"Okay, I get it. I really get it... " Andor says smiling and at the same time shaking his head.

With a casual glance, Loam concludes Titus was knocked cold by Kala’s hammer-blow, but is stable.
Korum drops the curved blade of his polearm behind Abby’s left ankle and with a casual tug, tears the tiefling’s Irori’s tendon out.
HEE—HA—ha—HA—HA—ha—ha—HA—HA—HA—HA!
Sinking to one knee, the top of Abby’s upraised face creates the perfect target for Andor’s rapier-cum-hammer. The investigator makes no mistake, dropping the alchemist with a double-blow between the eyes that would have felled a bull.
“Uh, it's Miguel again is it? Your bosses are both unconscious. Give up.”
Realizing Kala is just defending her beloved pet and unable to spot Andor, Miguel heeds the monk and drops his makeshift weapon.
The young rogue then takes a seat on the crypt’s damp floor, raises both knees and holds his head in his hands.

The alchemical equipment arrayed in the chamber is made up of several masterwork artisan’s tools used for alchemical crafting, as well as a full alchemist’s lab.
Inside the flat-topped sarcophagus Sleeping Sword was using as higher ground is a small chest. Inside are a few hundred gold pieces and a thick leather packet containing ledgers related to the proceeds of Titus and Abby’s recent crime spree, as well as a letter implying the Sczarni pair are rebel Shadow Lodge agents, ordered to frame the Pathfinder Society for the artefact thefts by someone called 'The Spider'.
Lady Vulpina
|
Vulpina stares, dumbfounded, at the letter.
"Do you suppose he was reading this one line at a time, and never got to the bit where he was meant to burn it?" she asks her fellow Pathfinders.
"'Tis exactly the sort of scandal we suspected, of course. Subtlety is lost on many, I find."
Andor Katsu
|
”This is really news! I once encountered Mr. Torch and can attest to his manipulative being! I have no idea what the spider is. We have to inform Sheila and see what else she might have uncovered through other agents to get to bottom of this! Hopefully these prisoners can help as well!“ Andor says after reading the letter.
Kala, daughter of Krokum

Kala ties up Miguel really, really well this time, then sets herself to healing Stinky.

"There you go, boy. I'm so glad you're okay." An extra large portion of dried meat is pulled from her pocket for him. She spends some time giving him belly rubs and scratches while the others finish up in the other room, all the while keeping an eye on Miguel, lest he get any foolhardy ideas.
Upon hearing the contents of the letter, Kala mutters: "Mighta known it was Apsis. Low-life dogs."
Loam Yin

Loam limps over to deliberate. She wordlessly reads the letter, but in the end her focus is on Miguel. "Your boss is beaten, so there is no more need for a gag. However, something else to keep you quiet might be in order. Can we trust you to apply it yourself? Our way would be undoubtedly more forceful."

Korum of the Silver-Eyed Wolf

Korum cleans his blade before heading towards the chest. He reads over the letter, "I dunno. Sounds like we ain't done yet. I wouldn't mind havin' a few minutes with this Maiveer Sloan person. Note says their in country. Granted 'Varisia' is not very specific."
Sleeping Sword
|
"Uh, so the Aspis infiltrated us? Huh. The Venture Captain will need to see this letter. Let's bring these two along with us. Tightly bound and gagged. I am sure the VC will be interested to meet them."
As Sleeping Sword takes a rope from his pack, he looks from Abby to Andor and back again. Hmph. Not so different. If Abby was once accepted as a pathfinder, little wonder that Andor was too. I hope the kitsune has genuinely learned a lesson today.
"Gather round. May the Light of Shizuru ease our pains."
Once the prisoners are secure, Sleeping Sword holds forth his holy symbol - a katana against the sun's disk - and calls upon the Empress of Heaven. As soothing light fills the chamber there's a faint burning smell from Sleeping Sword, and the old man grimaces.

"I wouldn't mind havin' a few minutes with this Maiveer Sloan person."
”Only if you have a way to draw him out. Even if we knew the location of the Aspis chapter in this region, I do not know that we are prepared for an infiltration, much less a full assault.”
”No, I would think it is time for information gathering... and reporting. Our Venture-Captain will be wanting a report, and I am certain she will follow up on this.”
