I'd like to go forwards and open the door now, but I don't know if that's possible with Lady V stood in the doorway - if I have to wait for her to move then I stay in delay.
I get what you're trying to do, Sleeping Sword. Unfortunately, after doing some research I think it all hinges on:
Ending Your Movement: You can’t end your movement in the same square as another creature unless it is helpless.
So I think you have to wait for a short time before you can unsheathe the Sleeping Sword!

Andor, am I getting it right that your Round 1 actions were:
1. Close the door (move)
2a. Move 10’ to the south-east corner of the chamber OR
2b. Drink the extract of expeditious retreat?
If it’s 1+2a = no problem
If it’s 1+2b, we have a slight token position problem. It's not ideal, but because of the time-lag nature of PbP we could solve this is if we retroactively agree that Andor and Lady Vulpina swapped squares with a mutual 5’ step.
Can you and Lady Vulpina please let me know what you think.

BEHOLD: THE DAMNING CURSE OF LAWFUL GOOD!
I heart you Vixie. Please don't hate me.
For the official record, it's not my turn and I have no intention of breaking PFS rules. Just role play. Not going to harm/attack another PC and not in position to actually stop her from pulling the trigger.
Lady Vulpina |
Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "On the plus side, I'm Lawful Good. Unfortunately, that means I'm Lawful Good."
I <3 you too!

I absolutely love the RP between Lady Vulpina and Korum! Good job, you guys!
Lady Vulpina |
Thanks! :D
As a side note, Korum, I think if Vulpina did execute a child in cold blood, that would probably go against PFS rules ("no Evil PCs").
Vulpina highly values pragmatism and efficiency... but she's not heartless.

Sleeping Sword and Korum, Hiiragi gives Daikitsu's blessing.
Kala and Loam, of course, I knew about right away.
And Andor, it's amazing I didn't recognize you sooner, given that Thyste is probably picking your brother's pockets as you're reading this.
Finally starting to feel like a Board Regular :'D

All right. I have had a go at cleaning up the Battle Map slide. (same link)
Do you want to see if that makes a difference, SV?

This is perhaps the most intense clash of characters I've been a part of on the boards and I'm loving it, I don't think we have more than 2 people that agree with what could have happened in any direction here. I'm actually not sure anyone agrees with Vulpina's "take a hostage" plan.
This is very fun :D

Agreed. THIS is why I am such a proponent for Pbp. I cannot recall having this depth of character interaction at a PFS table. These interactions are difficult 'in the moment'. So often, opportunities are lost becauseit is such a short window. Too often I am plagued by 'woulda, coulda, shoulda', but on the boards, there is more time to consider character and formulate a response. In homegames, it took years to have this kind of player trust.
In short, I too am having a good time. Quite the mix of characters brought to life by experienced players with oversight provided by a immersive GM. I don't think that should be overlooked. Yours is Mined sells the world, allowing played to step up. We are joining in instead of trailblazing. Kudos to you as well sir! I always enjoy being at you table.

Totally agree!! Thanks a lot GM and also all the players!!

It's the Sheila missions that have you dancing on the knife-edge between wholesome adventurer and full-on murderhobo. Though Andor is well over that edge today!

I second all of the above. I feel fortunate to have come in with a group of players who really get into their characters in a well-thought out way. Considering how the Society handles assigning people to missions, this sort of conflict was bound to happen eventually. Having players willing to lean into that instead of ignoring/glossing over it is a boon. And having a GM who gives players the time delve into all of this is awesome. Kudos and thanks to all of you!

So true. ;-)
Unique moments of character development. I just imagine how other characters of mine would have just started crying after Andor’s action.

Hey, do y'all think Vulpina and Andor realize that they're both Chaotic Tien kitsune swashbucklers?
I really wondered about that myself. :-)
If you assume we just take 10 on our perception vs disguise then you for instance have a +15 disguise vs. my +13 perception.
But it’s probably more a take 20 on perception because we are looking at each other all the time?
Loam Yin |
This is a shining example of why I enjoy PbP so much! There's always potential for interplay and extra fun. I'm a little bummed I was asleep for most of it, but Loam has already said her piece more times than she'd like to.

I'd reason more that we're taking 10 unless we take particular care to look deeper. I usually think that Take 20 on Perception implies inspecting something carefully and purposefully from all angles, maybe interacting with it (if you're checking out a room, for example, you might be taking every book off a shelf in turn, flipping over the covers, checking behind the curtains, patting down the pillows...).
And Vulpina's Perception is hella weak (I never invest much in that skill on any of my PCs, actually), so yeah.
As far as either of us knows? Just a human from the homeland.
Like, a weird human, maybe, but not especially weird by Pathfinder Society standards.
Andor Katsu |
Ha ha! Yeah, true!
Andor and Kioshi really rarely have taken their true forms for RP reasons from their past although it sometimes would be great to threaten with a bite attack. :-)
What about Vulpina?
Lady Vulpina |
Lady Vulpina (real name not Lady Vulpina) is on the run from the noble family of kitsune kingsguard (daimyoguard?) that disowned her. She avoids her kitsune form if at all possible to keep herself hard to track-- conveniently, the Pathfinder Society provides a frequent excuse to not stay in the same place for more than a few days at a time.
That said, the name Vulpina, the fact that she's Tien, her choice of weapons, the fact that she has an artistic depiction of the incident in which she was disowned engraved on the barrel of her pistol, etc.) all paint a pretty clear picture to anyone who's familiar with Minkaian nobility.
I'm always torn on how to handle this, because I reason there are probably some PC's (those with high Knowledge (nobility) particularly, as well as a familiarity with kitsune) who could probably piece it together pretty quickly.

This is also true, but I feel that there is also an element of trust that I need to truly go for it. Thank you all for helping to create such a space, as digital an environment it may be.
I appreciate you.

"Go home to your mothers, children. And if you have neither home nor mother, then go to Heidmarch Manor. I will join you there later, and we shall see if we can find a better path for you than this one."
There's a Silver Crusade faction card goal that is setting up a charity event, or making a substantial financial donation, using downtime. Sleeping Sword will be setting up a Gala Dinner in aid of Wayward Sczarni Youth - to be held at Heidmarch Manor in the very near future ;) always assuming surviving the mission, of course. Sheila will probably OK it in order to improve/repair our reputation :o

I think Vulpina might be disinvited from that one.
Or maybe her weapons will need to be checked at the door.
Andor Katsu |
Andor would be suitable to know much about that.
He grew up in Tian and has high kn nobility.
kn nobility : 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 9 + (3) = 28
Lady Vulpina |
But are you familiar with kitsune? ;)
Yeah, I think a 28's plenty.
Feel free to piece it together. Here's the full info:
The Reipias come from a long line of royal guards; although their line is generally given the requisite noble upbringing, combat is given special consideration to make sure that the family remains the preferred first pick for such a high honor.
Yulai was betrothed to a high-ranking samurai general against her will. She insisted that, if she was to marry such a man, he must be capable of defeating her in a duel. While this was not appreciated, it was accepted; after all, the line should be kept strong with proper warriors, and a samurai should have no trouble defeating a young woman, even if she was a Reipia.
However, as the duel commenced, Yulai left her blade in its sheath, revealed a hidden pistol, and shot the man in the groin.
She was disowned before his knees hit the ground. Where she went from there is a mystery; she fled before action could be taken for her dishonorable deception.
Well, it's a mystery to everyone but you, anyway.
Andor Katsu |
Andor grew up in Leng Hao, a village full of Kitsune and Halflings in the Forest of Spirits east of Hongal.
Great story!! :-)

Lady Vulpina |
When we report the scenario, we will of course carefully omit the information that the inestimable Lady Vulpina served as Stinky's flank for any length of time whatsoever...
Lady Vulpina |
I wouldn't recommend getting into a rumor battle with a swashbuckling noble kitsune, Korum ;) one might find oneself getting strange looks at Shelyn's temple...
Kala, daughter of Krokum |
Kala, it looks like Stinky knows the 'Down' trick so you don't need to Push him if you want him to disengage.
True, but that wouldn't have gotten him out of harm's way. The dude already proved that he'd strike a harmless, adorable little furball instead of the humans that were the actual threat to him. There's no way Kala was going to trust to his mercy at that point.
