"Take cover! Repel attackers! Protect the beer!" Voricose yells as he moves behind his bar and begins brandishing his beer mugs. He gets partial cover from the bar.

Meanwhile, the sober azers all rush to get a better look at the commotion but don't seem particularly hostile to the group. The motives of the drunken azers in the room is a little harder to follow. One falls off of his chair and sits dazed next to the bar. Two more that seemed to have fallen when the door exploded pick themselves up and run in opposite directions yelling and waving warhammers over their head I added arrows on them to indicate the general direction they ran. One seems to be trying to take cover under the large table. Of the last two azers, one seems to be trying to climb up from his seat onto the table while the other seems to be trying very carefully to climb down off of his chair to the floor These are the two in the chairs by the table. The Northernmost one is climbing up, the Southernmost one is climbing down.

I will let Yattle decide if the Southernmost azure is "hostile" and therefore tripped the readied action. Anybody can make a Sense Motive check to gain further insight into their actions, but impatient Yattle will have to decide solely based on what the azers did and how they roll since they can't be bothered to wait for the input from the rest of the team.

Sense motive < 15:
They're really drunk. As such, you can't really tell if they're trying to attack you, flee, or something else entirely. Whatever they're doing, they don't seem to be doing it very efficiently.

Sense motive >= 15:
They seem more confused than actively hostile. That may not stop them from attacking or otherwise getting in your way if you wind up too close to them, but as long as you manage to keep your distance, you should be fine.

"B@$$+*+!! You came in here, refused to pay, refused to leave, blew up my door, and f*!$ing attacked me! Your honeyed words sound nice but mean nothing! And I'll prove it!" Voricose turns to look at Delroy and holds out his hand, palm up. He makes sure to speak loudly enough for everyone to hear. "You were the first to rush in here and attack me. Show me you stand with your friends by giving me all the coin in that bag you were waving about earlier and stand down. If you do, I'll let bygones be bygones. Or don't and prove your friends full of s%@+. After all, words mean nothing if not backed by action." His other hand tenses around a beer mug, his sneer clearly indicating what he thinks the half-orc will do.

Delroy: If you hand over less than the 1,250 gp you have on your character sheet, make either a Bluff or a Sleight of Hand roll and tell me how much you hand over. Voricose doesn't know how much money you have, but I've written down an amount he's hoping for. If you give him >= that number, I'll consider your roll a success regardless of what you actually rolled. If you give him less than that number, depending on how much less, the DC you have to hit will increase. If you succeed, combat will end, and he'll let you all drink in the bar. If you fail, he notices you trying to take coins out of the bag and combat continues starting at his turn. If you refuse to give him anything, combat continues and Eirnar, Lokhir, and Kaldwell still have their move actions.

I'm not going to tell you the final amount that he wants, but I started with the 480gp he initially demanded, added some amount to replace the door, then subtracted a percentage based on the Diplomacy roll of 38. Other people are free to chime in on Discussion, but Delroy's the final arbitrator on what he wants to do.

Torn by resenting the giant's hostility and also unsure of the morality of killing what seemed to be a self-aware construct, Delroy tries to de-escalate things.

He fishes about in it and pulls out a stack of coins.

"We'll here's six-hundred and twenty one gold in here to pay for that door."

Voricose's eyes widen briefly in surprise before narrowing in suspicion. He takes the bag and tries to count some of it while still keeping Delroy in his line of sight. The muscles in his jaw clench and relax a few times before he finally pockets the gold. Still not quite turning his back on the group, he takes the beer mug and fills it with practiced ease before slamming it a little more forcefully than necessary in front of Delroy, causing a small amount to slosh up over the rim of the giant glass. "I guess that's enough ta pay for the door," he mutters. He then quickly fills four more mugs and places those on the bar as well. "Well, whaddya waiting for? Git in here 'n' drink!"

While this is happening, the sober azers look disappointed but go back to work. The drunken azers are continuing to rush around the bar in varying states of confusion. Two are still swinging battle-axes, the most recent one to fall is giggling manically, and the one who had been climbing up the table had now succeeded and was loudly declaring himself 'The Bar King Azer,' which he punctuated with a number of howls and yips.

"Guess I better to calm them down." Voricose grumbles. Still giving Delroy a wide berth and the entire party a wary eye, he starts moving about the bar and trying to calm its other patrons.

Combat over. What is the party doing now?

The beer mug is designed for a Large-sized creature and a little unwieldy for Delroy, essentially requiring a two-handed grip. The beer itself is of about average quality and certainly, nothing that would impress a connoisseur. However, what it lacks in complex flavor, it makes up for in alcohol content as it's quite strong. Combined with the large volume, the current state of many of the azers is a lot more understandable.

As Delroy enjoys his drink, Kaldwell takes a moment to examine the room around him. The table that takes up much the room is old, cracked, and uneven. It's still quite sturdy, which is fortunate for the azure currently doing a "royal jig" on top of it, but it's definitely seen better days. The chairs and stools are in much the same condition: functional but rough around the edges.

The walls are mostly devoid of decoration, though there are a number of exposed pipes sticking out and crisscrossing with no clear pattern. One of the pipes near the hole in the Southern wall that used to be a door looks like it was recently broken off. There's a crude sign on the Eastern wall next to the now only doors of the room.

Giant:
The sign reads "In memory of Smith".

Along the wall behind the bar are several large barrels of what is most likely more beer waiting to be opened. A quick look in the bartending area reveals rows upon rows of giant-sized mugs.

As he attempts to look for the next token, it suddenly occurs to Kaldwell that he actually has no idea what the token is supposed to look like. Hopefully it's not one of the many, many identical and perfectly normal-looking beer mugs, but nothing really stands out as a possible candidate. There's nothing on display nor is there anything that looks like someone is trying to hide it.

By this point, Voricose has successfully pulled the battleaxes from the two rampaging azers and plopped them back in chairs along with their own, topped off mugs of beer to keep them put. He starts to move to get the dancing azer off of the table and to settle back down again.

Kaldwell frowned. It was unusual that he couldn't read a sign like that, but it was probably something relatively simple to deal with. He could always ask the Azers for a translation if he couldn't work it out himself. It looked vaguely familiar, though, so perhaps with a moment he could decipher it.

Voricose shrugs as he heads towards the remaining door. "Never really talked to Smith, so no idea if he was seeing anyone. As for Ongaur, what's to know? He's been highly irritable and gets offended at the slightest thing nowadays. I mostly ignore him by staying out here and keeping the door locked." He pulls a key out and unlocks the door, ushering you all inside.

A massive sinkhole hole takes up the southeastern half of this workshop, leading to a blazing hot chamber beneath. More astonishing, however, is the massive stone head poking through it, attached to a far larger body below. There's a door to the North in front of which stands what almost looks like a giant azer. He has short stumpy legs, powerful, muscular arms, and long flowing hair and a beard, both of which seem to be made of fire. He's carrying a large great sword that he seems to have tried to attach a sign to.

Giant:
The sign reads 'Bring back Smith!'

Upon hearing the door, the giant turns to face you. His face darkens as his eyes narrow. "More little ones, come to gawk and stare at the mightiest of all brought low?" He sneers. "Or have you finally come to send me to join in Smith's fate?" You hear Voricose behind you very quickly shut the door, though you don't hear him lock it.

"Hey now, what are you doing?!" growls Ongaur as Lokhir moves towards Smith. As Lokhir places his blade against the giant head, at first nothing seems to happen. Then slowly the gray pallor of the face fades into more of a pale blue color as large eyes slowly open.

There's a clattering noise as Ongaur drops his greatsword in surprise and then quickly rushes over to the awakened giant. "Smithy? Smithy? Is that really you?"

Smith blinks a few times before opening his mouth wide in a huge yawn. "Why did you wake me from my sleep?"

Ongaur makes a choked noise as he responds. "That weren't a nap. You were petrified, Smithy!"

Smith turns slightly, causing more of the ground around him to collapse and forcing Lokhir to back up. "I'm sleepy. I'm going to go take a nap someplace more quiet." His large head then starts to recede and withdraw back into the sinkhole.

As he disappears, Ongaur yells after him. "Yeah, that's right, ol' buddy. You go rest. When you're feeling better, we can come back at show that jackass Ticktock Man what's what!" You are truly a friend to giant-kind!" After a moment, he finally releases the elf and turns to the rest of the group, demeanor completely changed and tears in his eyes. "You're all friends to giant-kind. Bless you, bless you all. How can I ever repay you?"

I didn’t see that coming, great job Lokhir. Usually I say ‘give me 15 minutes’’, then I try something like that, but you worked wonders. We seek the tokens to save someone from a so called ‘patchwork lord’” Eirnar adds.

"Tokens? What tokens? Is there one here?" Ongaur looks briefly confused until Delroy mentions the Ticktock Man. Then his expression immediately darkens once again. "The Ticktock Man? That's the bastard that assaulted Smith in the first place! Do you need him killed? I wouldn't mind taking some revenge on the a&!*#*%, but I don't think I'd be able to succeed by myself."

"So far a reasonable chunk of the people on this plane end up in flames after we talk to them though, so vengeance might still be yours."

"Mostly, it was just the bears," Kaldwell replied. He might have forgotten the tengu because he was old, or perhaps because he felt sorry for beating up the bears. Or maybe he simply didn't like remember going down like a sack of potatoes.

Ongaur's face looks like a yo-yo as first Delroy says they probably weren't going to fight the Ticktock Man and then Yattle says that they might still fight him. He juts his chin out towards the doors to the north. "He's in his workshop doing whatever the hell it is he does when not assaulting giants. If you end up killing him, give a holler, so I can join in." He then goes to retrieve his sword and remove the no longer useful sign from it.

"We'll see what this fella has to say." Delroy tells the giant.

"If it does come to a beat down, then we'll give you a holler."

Delroy wipes his bald head with a cloth and then heads over to the north doors and gives them a tug to see if they open.

With a great deal of effort, Delroy pushes open the massive doors to the North. They opens into a small storage area with piles of scrap metal and various machine parts. Across from where you entered is an identical pair of doors leading further in. Pushing past those as well reveals a mammoth chamber that houses man-sized gears, pendulums, and screws amid puffs of steam. The noise rattles through the room, occasionally shaking free bits of the stone walls.

At the back of the room appears to be a halfling-sized man, many of his features obscured by the green cloak he wears. His head jerks up as you enter and he immediately moves half behind one of the large gears. Regarding you all warily, he hisses. "Who are you? Who sent you? What are you doing here?"

"Mortals from beyond this place. I am called Kaldwell. We seek a man brought here against his will, and to return to our own world." Kaldwell glanced around the room, once more looking for anything that might be amiss.

"There is no man being held here. I do not believe you. Just admit that Marzalee sent you!" The man accuses, leveling his bastard sword in your general direction.

All of the machinery looks to be old and in varying degrees of disrepair. It's all still functioning currently, but it's clear there's been some amount of jury-rigging to keep it that way. There's a variety of workman's tools scattered about and a panel appears to be open near where the man started out. Most likely he was working on repairs when you burst in.

Kaldwell raised his hands slowly away from his own swords. "By 'here' I mean this demi-plane. No one sends me anywhere. Sometimes people ask for my help, and I might agree, but no one sends me. Marzalee, who I don't think I've met, has asked me nothing."

"I wasn't asking why you're here in the Harrowed Realm. I was asking why you're here in my caldera! As for that buffoon of a giant, did you see the other room? Wrecked! Completely wrecked! That was our main workshop! It was already hard enough trying to keep this damned place running with all my workers and all our tools. How the hell am I supposed to do with half my realm made unusable and most of my workers run off to one place or another? The people here take for granted all my hard work! Like I just sit here desperately trying to keep everything running for my own health! Let's see what they think when the moon breaks down, and they're all stuck in perpetual night!"

Kaldwell continued to keep his hands away from his swords, trying to calm the enraged man with words. "We're here for the reason we said - we need to find the person we seek, and we need a way home once done. We seek information about both, and the tokens that allow us to escape." He nodded. "It sounds like you have many burdens and trials to attend to. Perhaps we could make a trade? We help you with some of the problems you have, and in return aid us with what we seek?"

You said your workshop was ruined. There is a spell that I could perhaps prepare tomorrow, in return for your token, if you have a mithral hammer required as a focus for the spell. It would render a 30 foot radius instantly repaired, so it seems like a fair trade.

Hammer of Mending

If for some reason the spell doesn't work like I'm reading it, I wouldn't make the offer, and its entirely possible he doesn't possess any mithral
