Wondering if it would be possible for me to join? I need to officially upload my character but I'd be down to play.

Rahirez |
We have two vanguards and two biohackers, now Luke and The Ragi need to come in with two witchwarpers and we'll be good to go. Well, actually we'll be terrible to go because no one will have piloting, but that's besides the point.
Venizandrikal |
While I appreciate the efficiency Luke, I would ask that in the future you give other people the chance to play the game as well.
D.R.A.C.O.S. |
I am sorry if that offended - it was not the intention. I just thought the easiest way to smooth things over again (and in your words, to let other people play), was to delete the post where I steamrolled the skill challenge, so that the rest of the party could do it?
Rahirez |
As an FYI, if anyone cares, while Copaxi are technically not sexually dimorphic (there is no biological male and female with Copaxi), Rahirez has chosen to identify as male gendered for ease of conversations.
Gava Son of Emer |

We didn't pull that one out, but we are still using some of the new stuff that was just added to the AR, at least... quite an experimental table.

Just remember your character that received said boon must have reputation of 3 or greater in said faction. I assume he does, but just checking.

Yes, I did check that he has that.

So, a few days ago, I passed challenge 1 while giving a bit of roll playing, and passed it off to someone else (I don't have Engineering), so if someone wants to do a bit of role-playing and take a stab at challenge 2, then pass it off to someone else? Just, y'know, as kind of a soft way to introduce characters as well as take care of this challenge?
Gava Son of Emer |
This is weird, I posted this yesterday already, but it's gone.
Well, here it is again:
"Let's see if this helps speed things along:
Challenge 2—Filter DC 16
Engineering: D.R.A.C.O.S. +7, Ziyass +7
Profession (electrician): no one
Challenge 3—Translate DC 18
PCs who speak Celestial or Quorlu gain a +4 bonus: Rahirez
Culture: Taerem +9, Rahirez +8
Profession (mathematician): no one
Profession (musician): Ziyass +8
Comprehend languages automatically succeed at this check: D.R.A.C.O.S.
Challenge 4 - Formula DC 18
PCs with the scholar theme who are specialized in physics can reduce the DC by 5: no one
Mysticism: D.R.A.C.O.S. +4, Gava +3
Physical Science check: Rahirez +9, Taerem +8, D.R.A.C.O.S. +7, Gava +3"
D.R.A.C.O.S. |
@Rahirez: He hyperlinked his post - literally the section that says 'Map is up slide 6'.
Gava Son of Emer |
We are 100 feet away from the cultists - are they using any sources of light? Otherwise, with the 60 ft. darkvision some of us have, low-light being useless in darkness, and the only other sources of light being comm units (15 ft) and my flashlight (20 ft), this was a very weird conversation.
Ziyass |
I believe it is dimly lit, not complete darkness, so those with low light vision can see. I assumed anyway. :)
Venizandrikal |
Correct I believe...
Gava Son of Emer |
Perhaps - quorlu have darkvision and low-light vision, but drow only have darkvision, so the leader would probably prefer the cave completely dark.
It's probably only a small disconnect between the scenario text and the map available, though.
DoubleGold |
I missed this part, so it is actually bright light.
The ceiling of this cavern raises up 30 feet, and several glowing crystals nestled along the cavern ceiling provide ample illumination for the entire area. Column-like walls of stone break up the area, as do small pools of water that the quorlus have dug for what little sustenance they require
Gava Son of Emer |
Ah, now I understand the complaint about trick attack requiring two successful rolls for one attack - it is indeed annoying.
Gava Son of Emer |
That was fast! I'll use the downtime between quests to reload my needler gun and that's about it.
Gava Son of Emer |
The other table is still fighting the cultists.

Part 2: Handout 2
The quorlus have granted us permission to visit some of their sacred sites: Yaraesa’s markers. Said to hold the secrets of the universe, these ancient stone menhirs work in tandem to protect this planet from the nearby black hole. But something’s gone wrong. The quorlus say some of the markers are “out of harmony.” Our scans show that these divergent sites are surrounded by environmental and gravitational anomalies—violent storms, powerful earthquakes, and unpredictable fluctuations in gravity and radiation levels. I’m transmitting you coordinates to one of these divergent sites. The nearest safe landing zone is a few miles downhill. Travel to the menhir and figure out what’s wrong. Fix it if you can.
The sky over Enereth-7 is a dusty gray-blue, lit by a large, orange sun. On the opposite horizon is the ever-present black hole—its invisible center framed plainly by its massive halo of white light. It’s chilly, and the dry air smells acrid. A series of rocky buttes and short soil-caked mesas bound together by green lies ahead, with transparent grass that makes a jingling sound in the breeze. The incline looks mild, but the rock appears sharp to the touch and the soft orange soil lays loosely on the ground.
As you are Hiking along Give me a Acrobatics, Athletics, Perception, or Survival check to not fall into a pit trap. Unless of course, you are flying somehow most of the trip.
D.R.A.C.O.S. |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24.
D.R.A.C.O.S. gives his wing motors a good work out, as does the journey in a series of point-to-point flights.
Gava Son of Emer |
I've been asked about the legality of my character riding a mount while using trick attack, so I'll post my answer here as well, for clarification and just in case anyone else is wondering (it is a brand new inclusion in SFS, after all).
Alien Archive 3, page 141
"While you’re riding your creature
companion, your mount’s speeds replace your own speeds,
and you use them in place of your own when moving your
speed, including when using abilities that allow you to move
your speed (such as the operative’s trick attack)."
"You move your speed using the mount’s speed (or one
of its speeds, if it has more than one). This does not require
a Survival check, but it does require you to use two hands,
which you can’t use to hold or wield items unless you succeed
at a Survival check to use the guide with knees action"
Core Rulebook pg. 149
Ride a creature table
Action: Guide with knees
DC: 5
Gava's survival skill check to ride a creature: +15
+1 rank, +3 class, +1 wisdom, +2 racial, +3 skill focus (insight), +1 theme, +4 rider's kit (circumstance)
Gava Son of Emer |
I'm pretty sure I placed my mini on the map, but it got removed... guess that map is for the next encounter? Kinda lost right now.
Ziyass |
Yes, our current map is slide 6 (for table 2), but I guess that the GM thinks we will be done so fast that we won't need to place our tokens.
It seems that they die quite easily. :D Currently the 5 left are located around me and they already have 8 damage each. LOL What fun!
Gava Son of Emer |
I believe these are all correct:
Captain
Intimidate: Venizandrikal/Ziyass +6, Gava/Rahirez +1
Diplomacy: Ziyass +6, Venizandrikal +4, Gava/Rahirez +1
Bluff: Gava/Rahirez/Ziyass +1
Chief Mate
Acrobatics: Gava +9, Ziyass +8, D.R.A.C.O.S./Rahirez/Venizandrikal +3
Athletics: Venizandrikal +7, Rahirez +2, Gava +1
Engineer
Engineering: D.R.A.C.O.S./Taerem +7
Gunner
Gunnery: Gava/Ziyass +5, D.R.A.C.O.S. +4, Taerem +3
Magic Officer
Mysticism: D.R.A.C.O.S. +4, Gava +3
Pilot
Piloting: Gava +9, D.R.A.C.O.S. +7, Tarem/Ziyass +3
Science Officer
Computers: Rahirez +8, D.R.A.C.O.S. +7
--
My suggestions:
Captain: Venizandrikal
Chief Mate: -
Engineer: Taerem
Gunners: Gava & Ziyass
Magic Officer:-
Pilot: D.R.A.C.O.S.
Science Officer: Rahirez
And if you find yourself with nothing to do, Prioritize Calculation and Range Finding open crew actions are pretty good to aid your gunners.
Ziyass |
Ziyass has no ranks in piloting, so for her it would just be a dex check at +3. I am assuming that we all shouldn't be rolling for piloting, though. :)
