Game Master Granta

Sovereign Court

In a perfect world, we would have 5-6 GMs who each run a game for the other 4-5 to play in. Start times would be staggered a month or two apart, to give everyone time to finish up other games and avoid bandwidth overload.

Games could be either version of Pathfinder, and probably modules to start. If it worked really well, we could try a second round with APs.

So finishing up the modules in only 1-2 months?
I am mastering my first adventure here, and so far the pace seem slow. I am not sure you could finish a module in 1-2 months.

3 months is probably the fastest I've ever played a module, and that was too fast to be fun. The goal is not to finish by any deadline, just to avoid starting all the games at once.

"Other games" meaning games not part of this grouping.

Got it. Count me Interested.

I might be interested as well if it's Pathfinder 1. I will wait to hear more and chime in. As far as I understand, we'd run the modules and take turns hosting, right?

!st Edition would be best for me, but I am not dead set against 2 ed, ror even other systems.

As I understand, we would end up having 4-5 games going, one with each of us DMing, within the first 6-10 months.

Exactly.

Yes. Each person would GM a single game and play in the rest.

Grand Lodge

I almost made this post my self several times last week. I am willing to run any AP I have started to play or finished playing (could do others on request). I would take a vote from the other gms to decide which. I am also willing to start running an AP as soon as other GMs are lined up.

I would be focused on PF1 as I'm not ready to GM pf2. I have three other systems in my head right now. I will run and play in PF1 games.

Ones I can start immediately:
Rise of the runelord,
Giantslayer
Strange aeons
Carrion crown
Reign of winter
Shattered star
Emerald spire (not technically an AP)

Skull and shackles is the one I'm most interested in playing.

Nice! Four of us already.
I would prefer to start playing than DMing.

Grand Lodge

I think the ideal start would be 2 GMs so everyone would get to start playing.

Sovereign Court

I would be okay with two games starting right away, though no more. And I also have a slight preference for 1e. I'd like to learn 2e, but haven't actually done it yet, so 1e is easier.

I think we have a team already! Maybe one extra GM. I’m very much onboard with PF1 and like Grand, dying to play S&S until the end (all the ones I tried here in the forums died).

I could possibly be interested.

What would be the deciding factors for you?

Just bumping as we just need one more GM to start. Besides Skulls, I’d also love to play Hell’s Rebels and Ironfang.

I was going through and making sure I wasn't over-committing myself. This is a lot of games to add to my line-up, but I looked things over and I really am almost out of active games. So I'm interested.

In terms of AP's I can GM, I have easy access to Jade Regent, Kingmaker, Shattered Star, Curse of the Crimson Throne, and Skull and Shackles. I have slightly less easy but still possible access to Mummy's Mask, Wrath of the Righteous, Hell's Rebels, Ironfang Invasion, Reign of Winter, War for the Crown, Tyrant's Grasp, and possibly some others I'm forgetting.

Sovereign Court

I connected this thread to a campaign, so that everybody can dot and get notifications for new posts. The next step is to figure out what every wants to and can GM and play.

Remember, we will be staggering the start times over months, maybe even a year, to help people avoid over-committing to games.

Grand Lodge

If there is one gm 5 players eventually there will be 6 game per person 1 gm 5 played but you don't have to play every available game. I will likely not play in any APs I'm already playing in. That slot can be used to bring in another gm or just a player someone likes or know is reliable.

Oh, I know that the starts are going to be staggered, but I'm kind of hoping all the games I'm in right now will survive for a long while, so I wanted to think it over and make sure I wouldn't be overcommitted if they were all still alive a year from now.

Grand Lodge

Like I said you can just opt out of some of the games. GM one and play in two, it is still a favorable ratio and I'm sure some would be happy to use the other spots.

Game on!

Sovereign Court

We are getting started, but still have room for one more if there is a late comer out there.

I’m interested!

I'm interested if somebody wants to DM kingmaker. I've been dying to play that one.

Well I was seriously considering joining this group. But the more I think about, the more I feel it would be an over commitment on my part. I don't think I could do a good job on 6 games simultaneously. The idea is intriguing and I hope you are successful. Have fun all y'all.

Thanks

Grand Lodge

I would say as I did early that no one needs to play in every game. Some games could run with 4 people instead of 6 or other players could be recruited if needed. In my mind the key is that anyone gming get's at least a game or two in return.

Speaking about that... What about me for mastering game 3? Other volunteers?

Grand Lodge

If you want to do the next one you should go for it. I have a few work thing to get off my plate and I will be ready to start (third week of January). A clever person could find that I have already made a discussion thread for my game if they wanted peek at build rules.

And for us non-clever persons? Can you post the link to them?

Grand Lodge

I will once I have finished with my set up.

Ok... So seem to be more ahead than me for the 3rd-month game, so go ahead. I'll get the next one.
About that, I don't have an idea in mind, so I would ask you.
What would you like to play?
Pathfinder? Call of Chtulhu? Pulp Cthulhu? Savage Worlds? East Texas University? Savage Rifts? All flesh must be eaten?
What kind of adventure? Module? Adventure Path?
Different Rulesets?
High level game?

Let's get this discussion back to discussion, guys :) I'll post there.

Sovereign Court

We are looking for another GM, had one drop.

I would certainly be interested. I know most are not interested in GMing 2nd Ed, but I would be more than willing to play 1e and GM 2e if anyone else would be cool with that.

Would you be willing to try someone who's never GM'ed a PBP before?

I would be interested in GMing a mid to high level one-shot or sequence of connected adventures.

Do you have any details in which campaigns are currently running with the other GMs?

I would love to participate in this if there is still a spot. Can run something now, or later.

Grand Lodge

We have started Iron gods and war for the crown. I have a giant slayer game ready to go.

I have played the first bit of Iron Gods before the game crashed. Have played none of WftC and have run the first book of Giantslayer IRL before, but never played.

I could run nearly any Paizo AP, depending on what others have played or have preference for. I have complete sets of nearly all the APs (not Kingmaker or Skull and Shackles, for whatever reason).

If this group is full, I would be interested in starting another similar, so PM if you'd like.

We would probably want all games to be 1e, that seemed to be the preference when we first started.

What is your experience level with GMing other mediums? With playing PbP?

I am currently playing in 2 PBP, but that is my first significant experience in the format (see my aliases page, Vakmu Blackhorse and King Niall Swordwraith for the full post history of these PBP's).

Although I have run a couple of real-life around a table campaigns, I will not call myself a experienced (or even really good) GM. I can run a fight and understand the rules just fine, but I would not call characterization and atmosphere building a strength (particularly at the immediate improv theatre of around a table. One of the reason I am asking is that I wonder if it (the theatre part) would be easier for me as PBP).

Sounds like an interesting idea and I’ve been in GM trading groups before, but I’ve played two of the three. Sounds like a good time though!

Which one haven't you played yet?
