Game Master Granta

Sovereign Court

Looks like everyone has dotted. And it seems like the preference is to jump straight into APs, rather than test the waters with modules. That makes the next step seeing what everyone can/prefers to GM.

Granta
War for the Crown

Grandlounge
Rise of the runelords
Giantslayer
Strange aeons
Carrion crown
Reign of winter
Shattered star
Emerald spire (not technically an AP)

Almonihah
Jade Regent
Kingmaker
Shattered Star
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Skull and Shackles

In my case - I have Shattered Star and Carrion Crown, but I don't mind purchasing something else once it's my time to host (I'm open to hear what people want to play). The ones I'd like to play the most are Skull & Shackles, Ironfang Invasion and Hell's Rebels (well, I wouldn't decline Wrath of the Righteous either). I could also host one of my custom campaigns if you guys want to experience something new, non-published.

If I may suggest something, I think we should/could come out with a common set of rules, including character creation (and to be honest, I prefer the least complicated possible - no gestalt or feat tax rules, etc.). Something "vanilla" like...

Basic background, just giving an idea of what the character is and looks like, if it makes sense for the campaign, etc.
20-point-buy
Use Unchained Classes for Rogues, Barbarians, Summoners and Monks
Use Background Skills
2 Traits from different categories, one needs to be a campaign trait, one drawback for an extra trait of another category
Full HP first level, half+1 after that
No Custom Races, only the regular Paizo playable races
Only Paizo official material, no third-party

Finally, assuming we have a group of 6 GMs, my suggestion would be to start with 3 APs only, then another 3 APs after, and so on. This way we keep the quantity of games still manageable (I like putting quality in my posts) and it's easier for us to recover in case something unpredictable happens with any of us.

Cheers

Sovereign Court

A homebrew game would be fantastic. I have a strong preference for letting each GM set their own rules, though. To me, that is a crucial part of creating the particular game that I enjoy running. Plus, each campaign has different needs and challenges.

As to the starting schedule of games . . . What about leaving that somewhat up in the air? Once we reach a point where people are running low on bandwidth, we can freeze the remaining games, whenever that happens to be.

Male

As for APs
1e-I have Iron Gods, but willing to GM anything there.
2E-I am currently running a group of fellow veterans through The Fall of Plaguestone so I have the PDF for that. I am also prepping Age of Ashes on Roll20 so I have that and would prep that for PBP.

If it’s PFS then I’ll do anything on 1E or 2E.

On my part, I am game. You want a module you never got the chance to play? An AP you never finished? A character concept you never got to play? An environment or sandbox you want to explore? A rules set you are interested in?

Now is your chance...

Sovereign Court

Now, let's eliminate stuff. Is there anything on the list you do NOT want to play?

I have played Emerald Spire and single books from a few APs, but that's all, so I'm up for any true AP as a player.

List:
Granta
War for the Crown

Grandlounge
Rise of the runelords
Giantslayer
Strange aeons
Carrion crown
Reign of winter
Shattered star
X-Emerald spire (not technically an AP)

Almonihah
Jade Regent
Kingmaker
Shattered Star
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Skull and Shackles

The Archlich
Shattered Star
Carrion Crown
Homebrew

GMGrumpelStiltzkin
Iron Gods

I'm a balla and will run anything

Male

I’m up for any AP as a player. I haven’t played any.

I'm up for any... I played most of them in at least some capacity (weeks, months, one book, all the way).

If I may vote (based on what I played the least that I'd like to play the most):

Granta: War for the Crown (I don't know this one?)
Grandlounge: Strange Aeons
Almonihah: Skull & Shackles
GMGrumpelStiltzkin: Iron Gods
JohnnyBlack: Hell's Rebels maybe? Or Ironfang Invasion? What APs do you own?

Sovereign Court

War for the Crown was one of the last APs written for 1e. It is a political adventure set in Taldor, and is very RP heavy. As in, whole levels can pass without a combat.

Male Human Nerd 11

My votes:

Granta (not much to choose from here)
War for the Crown

Grandlounge (In order)
Giantslayer
Rise of the Runelords

Almonihah (In order)
Kingmaker
Jade Regent
Skull and Shackles

The Archlich (In order)
Homebrew
Shattered Star

GMGrumpelStiltzkin (not much to choose from here)
Iron Gods

About not wanting to play, The Curse of the Crimson Throne. Been there, done that. But I am not against mastering it.

Got both Hell's Rebels And Ironfang Invasion. I think I got the first 10 APs or so...

Male Human Expert 3

I'm fine with playing most any AP. I tend to care more what kinds of characters will be allowed--I tend much more towards the unusual and exotic in what I want to play online these days. Things like former familiars who've become sorcerers or dragons--so obviously using third-party content or homebrew rules. Which isn't to say there aren't builds I'm interested in that only require Paizo-published materials, just that any game that allows me to play a non-humanoid in some fashion immediately gets more of my interest.

I have, however, played Mummy's Mask, Iron Gods, Reign of Winter, Hell's Rebels, most of Rise of the Runelords, Jade Regent, and Ruins of Azlant, so I'd probably want to sit those ones out just because I know too much.

As for me running things, in addition to the AP's I've mentioned, I could also run a campaign consisting of modules from Kobold Press's world of Midgard, a six-level campaign where you play as dragons using Rite Publishing's In the Company of Dragons rules, or a variety of shorter modules where you play as awakened animals or dragons.

Sovereign Court

@JohnnyBlack: WftC is the only AP I own and have prepped, but I could run something else if anyone has already played it.

Granta
War for the Crown

Grandlounge
X-Rise of the runelords
Giantslayer
Strange aeons
Carrion crown
X-Reign of winter
Shattered star
X-Emerald spire (not technically an AP)

Almonihah
X-Jade Regent
Kingmaker
Shattered Star
X-Curse of the Crimson Throne
Skull and Shackles

The Archlich
Shattered Star
Carrion Crown
Homebrew

GMGrumpelStiltzkin
X-Iron Gods

JohnnyBlack

X-
Mummy's Mask
Hell's Rebels
Ruins of Azlant

Male

Same here. I have the first book of Iron Gods, but I can pick up and run anything. It doesn’t matter to me.

Male Human Nerd 11

So... who's first?

Sovereign Court

JohnnyBlack wrote:

Still waiting to hear what Grandlounge has already played.

Sovereign Court

Does anybody have something already prepped, that they would be willing to run first? I have WftC ready, but prefer to host one of the middle games. I've been GMing only for almost 7 months, and would rather not GM 2 games without playing in any.

Male Human Expert 3

I've run Jade Regent previously so that would be easy for me to run again, if that's the one desired from my list. The others that were on my easy list wouldn't take me long to prep. That's the advantage of AP's.

The two one-shots I have where you play as awakened animals are both easy to run and play. They could be a good way to get the group warmed up if we feel like something that would last only a couple of months.

Male

I have no problem prepping Iron Gods if everyone wants it. I have some of it prepped all ready so it wouldn’t take me long to get ready. Say 2 weeks and I could be ready if that’s good with everyone else.

Sovereign Court

GMGrumpelStiltzkin wrote:

Almonihah has already played it.

Male

Well sh-/.............

Male Shapeshifting Griffon Technomancer 20 | LP Maps

I actually ran it, so I wouldn't mind playing it if you don't mind me knowing too much. XD I'm fairly good at keeping player and character knowledge seperate, but there *would* be an element of me just sitting back and letting the rest of the party figure things out because I already know at points.

Male

I have no problem with that at all.

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.
GM_Almonihah wrote:

Maybe play a comic relief character with penalties to his mental ability scores?

Male

I like where you’re going with that comic relief character!

Sovereign Court

GMGrumpelStiltzkin wrote:

When I GMed a PFS scenario before playing it, that was how I usually avoided the meta-gaming trap: play a character stupid enough to justify me going to the opposite extreme of decision making.

If possible I’d like to sit the first hosting round and start as a player, and I’m happy to pick it up on the second round with Granta. I have my homebrews to use, but as I said before I don’t mind prepping for one of the APs I have or purchasing a different one. You guys tell me your preference.

Sovereign Court

GMGrumpelStiltzkin wrote:

Should we take those two weeks to create characters, or do you need time before that starts, too?

Male

Go ahead and start creating characters. I’ll get a campaign thread started later when I’m home and post the link here so everyone can dot in. My character creation rules are below. These are not hard set rules. If there is something you’ve been dying to play then I’m more then willing to work with everyone. I would rather have a party of characters you want to play then you’re being forced to play. My only stipulation to that is staying with Paizo published material.

I have ability scores set with 15 point buy, but I was thinking of going with 20. Input anyone?

Creation:

Content Available for Use in this Campaign: All Paizo published material is available for use.
Third Party Material: No third party material will be allowed for use in character creation.
Ability Scores: Ability scores will be generated via 15 point buy with no ability score starting below 7 prior to racial adjustments.

Races: All races from the core rulebook are available for play along with suggestions from the players guide. As long as it fits in with the AP I'm fine with it.

Classes: All Paizo published classes are acceptable. Refer to rule above.

Feats: I'm not picky, just make it work.

Traits: All characters will start with two traits of which one must be Campaign trait. You may take a drawback to gain another trait but be prepared to roleplay the drawback.

Starting Wealth: All characters starts with the maximum wealth for their chosen class.

Player's Guide: All players are strongly encouraged to download a copy of the Players Guide for use in character creation and to get a feel for adventure.

Does the AP mention anything? For example, I believe WftC assumes 4 players and a 20 point buy.

Male

Yeah. Made for 4 players. So I think keeping ability scores at a 15 point buy would be best.

Sovereign Court

Works for me.

Sovereign Court

I am going to work up an oracle with the life mystery and tongues curse.

Male Human Nerd 11

Iron Gods then...
Ok, let's go with a Barbarian.

Male

Discussion

Discussion link is above. The Gameplay thread is open when you need to dot in.

The 15 point buy works for me as well. I’ll think on something early next week! Maybe a kineticist or something of the sorts. Or maybe some sort of Dwarf. I’ll get back to you :)

Sovereign Court

Meaning these four are okay: aasimar, changeling, orc, and tiefling?

Male

Yes those are ok!

Sovereign Court

Has anybody heard from Grandlounge? Maybe somebody is playing with him at another table?

Male Shapeshifting Griffon Technomancer 20 | LP Maps

I haven't, but given the holiday weekend that just ended I'm not too worried yet.

About hosting: I will start mine after Johnny, then. I will do my homebrew; I already have most of it written, I just need some time to adapt it to the forums.

As for what to play, Johnny - here are things I want to play and don't get many chances:

- Hell's Rebels
- Way of the Wicked (I never managed to get beyond the escape!)
- Wrath of the Righteous (I'd love to play it as the quintessential paladin of Iomedae or something of the sorts)
- Skull & Shackles (I have my goblin who'd love to be the captain of his own ship someday!)
- Ironfang Invasion

I'd love to keep it on Pathfinder 1 if possible, as you can see, and I'm usually more game for regular APs and modules... But nothing is set on stone.

Male Shapeshifting Griffon Technomancer 20 | LP Maps

Keeping it Pathfinder 1 does sound good. I'd be more open to something homebrew/unusual, or at least open to carefully selected 3rd-party content, but that's because I like doing things like playing a raven or a pseudodragon or a chimera or something.

Grand Lodge

I would like to stick with PF1 as well I have a couple of other systems I have to know for IRL games but I would like to avoid adding more. any of these are good for me. Skull and shackles is my top choice. But I'm good with any of them.

Giantslayer

You can check out the game here if you want to start thinking about your group. I will be writing an into to tell you what you have accomplished as a group in Trunau. You can buy what is available in a small town.

I will be a little slow on the next couple weeks as I'm moving from WA to FL. I'll access the forums on my phone, but I should only truly be back in full by mid January. Cheers :)

Grand Lodge

Should we get the recruitment active again for another gm/ player.

Male Human Expert 3

One more would be good, it seems.

I'd be interested in joining the group.

I would be interested in running:
Council of Thieves
Serpent's Skull
Return of the Runelords
Legacy of Fire (with some effort to convert from 3.5)

or a interconnected set of stand alone adventures starting at a higher level.
