I know we're NPCing Fergus but if he wants the kill he should get to go and have his moment first, we can work out what we're doing after.

Well, if no one kill-robs him, I figure that he and Big Johan are going to exchange mutual death blows: They both get a full attack, and go on 14. Fergus is down to 27 hp (although he can swift action lay on hands for 3d6). Two hits or a convenient crit will put him down... Meanwhile Big J is "on his last legs", and Fergus gets 2 attacks of his own, with a smite going... MAD

Well, Vakmu was going to wait for Ungor and Fenla. Barring a sudden change in the tactical situation (for which he has not got a lot left...), he's closing to hex range (30') & maybe loading a crossbow (to shoot the entangled) this turn...

OK, a party loot list

This of course sparks the inevitable who gets what discussion. I would suggest we spread the healing potions around so everyone has emergency healing (and keep them as a common pool). I would also call the Bull's Strength potions as a common resource, and let various melee types speak for who holds them.

Vakmu already has a better cloak of resistance. He can use the belt, but figures it would be better on someone more likely to be in melee. He can use the ring, but again, there are probably others who could use it more...

That should be viewable and editable by all... Please check.

Given that Ungor was caged and buffing for most of the fight , he doesn’t make a “claim” against any the loot that wasn’t already his gear to begin with. (The list appears to be no conflict)

That being said, if the party doesn’t have a better use, the belt is good and the RoP is 1 better than I have.

Ironically, the belt will likely go to a non melee person, since they probably have STR items in that slot, well a DEX item for me.

The ring and the cloak would be things Brother Hawthorne could use. STR potions are useless to a DEX character. Not opposed to hauling some healing though.

Female Half-Elf Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer) 7 | Initiative +9 |Perception +15 | Fort +9 Ref+8 Will +10 | HP 50 AC 20 CMD 20

The ring I think is all I'd really want to claim, and given how well things went I don't mind if others want to take first pick of the healing potions too.

Ranger2/Wizard5 Elf | Init:+8 | Per:+21 | F:+5 R:+8 W:+6 | HP 48/48 | AC:19 FF:15 T:14 CMD:20 |

The ring and potions are the only items I could use. I would be willing to let the ring go to one of those who scout ahead of the group since my main tactic is to stay back and arrow the foes.

M Half Orc| HP 67+8/67| w/ shield: AC: 19, T: 11, FF:18 | Spd: 30ft/ 20ft w/armor | Shaman 7 | Init +7, Darkvision 60; Percept: +15, Sense Motive: +5 | Saves: F: +7, R: +7, W: +14 | CMB +6 / CMD 16

Proposal :

Ok, the only person who's spoken for the con belt is Ungor. We haven't heard from Fenla yet, but Ungor is a front line type, and thus needs all the HP he can get ... I nominate Ungor for the Belt, on the theory of more HP between me and the enemy!

The cloak of resistance +1. Brother H doesn't have anything in his cloak slot that I can see, and nor a resistance bonus either...

Finally, there are several who could use the ring. Vakmu and Rommin have said they should be secondary choices (and the same logic extends to Fenla), so that leaves Vrianna as not having got one of the magic items and in melee...

Potion Distribution
No potions - Ungor. He can use them, but they would get locked under his wildshape polymorph effect; someone else should carry them and feed them to him at the appropriate times.

Bull's Strength - Vrianna, Brother H (melee combatants).

Cure Serious Wounds - Vrianna, Brother H (again, potentially in melee), Fenla, Rommin

CMW - Vakmu, Fenla, Rommin, Brother H

Male Halfling Acquisitionist - 7 | Init +6 | Perception: +11 (+3 vs traps, +2 to avoid being surprised) HP:67/67 8NL AC: 24* TCH: 18 FF: 17 CMD: 20* | F+6*, R+13*, W+4*

No Bull's Strength for me, I'm a DEX combatant.

Ranger2/Wizard5 Elf | Init:+8 | Per:+21 | F:+5 R:+8 W:+6 | HP 48/48 | AC:19 FF:15 T:14 CMD:20 |

The only reason I would think Hawthorne might want it is if we we face something immune to precision damage. Otherwise, let Vrianna carry both.

Thank you for the breakdown, Vakmu. Nicely done.

Female Half-Elf Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer) 7 | Initiative +9 |Perception +15 | Fort +9 Ref+8 Will +10 | HP 50 AC 20 CMD 20

As much as I'd like to use them, I'm also DEX based, so they can stay as party loot. Ungor could you use them? Would the effects carry over with wildshape?

M Half Orc| HP 67+8/67| w/ shield: AC: 19, T: 11, FF:18 | Spd: 30ft/ 20ft w/armor | Shaman 7 | Init +7, Darkvision 60; Percept: +15, Sense Motive: +5 | Saves: F: +7, R: +7, W: +14 | CMB +6 / CMD 16

Ungor can use the potions, but they need to be carried by someone else, as the polymorph effect of wildshape : "When you cast a polymorph spell that changes you into a creature of the animal, dragon, elemental, magical beast, plant, or vermin type, all of your gear melds into your body. Items that provide constant bonuses and do not need to be activated continue to function while melded in this way (with the exception of armor and shield bonuses, which cease to function). Items that require activation cannot be used while you maintain that form. ."
So yes, Vrianna and Hawthorne carry the potions, IMO, as they will be closest to the melee fight & thus to feeding the bear...

Male Werebear-kin skinwalker Druid (bear shaman) 7 (AC: 23 current/if Squeezing AC 19 | HP: 80/80 | CMD (base) 26 /if Squeezing 22| F+12, R+3, W+10 | Init: +1 | Perc: +13 | Lowlight vision

Agree with the polymorph discussions. And Ungor stays in bear form all his waking hours unless there is a really, really good reason not to be.

I guess Fergus should make an exit of some sort. Maybe escort the village survivors somewhere. Maybe we should have actually had him go down in a blaze of glory and die at the hands of the giant. :)

There having been no objections, those items are now applied to Hawthorne.

Couple of things.

1) I don't think we ever actually figured this out:

Vakmu Blackhorse wrote:

A standing question to the party. How (do?) we do interrogation of prisoners? I assume that Fergus is not ok with hot irons, knives and salt...

Vakmu does not have any spells prepared for this (and I don't see much on the shaman spell list), nor any real skills in the area.

How do we interrogate prisoners (at all...)?

2) I'm thinking that after some more travelling, we are going to get to the steading itself. As the porcupine said to his wife, lets take this careful like... I propose we find a good, sheltered spot where we can watch the steading unobserved for a couple of days, and do a bunch of magical investigation - like locating any secret exits. I think can get a floor plan and a good scout/counting of the place. I want to go in with a plan, NOT all guns blazing...

Male Halfling Acquisitionist - 7 | Init +6 | Perception: +11 (+3 vs traps, +2 to avoid being surprised) HP:67/67 8NL AC: 24* TCH: 18 FF: 17 CMD: 20* | F+6*, R+13*, W+4*

Interrogation isn't Hawthorne's strong suit, but he's not morally opposed, for the greater good and all, to using some of the more unsavory methods.

Male Werebear-kin skinwalker Druid (bear shaman) 7 (AC: 23 current/if Squeezing AC 19 | HP: 80/80 | CMD (base) 26 /if Squeezing 22| F+12, R+3, W+10 | Init: +1 | Perc: +13 | Lowlight vision

Also applying the belt of hit points to Ungor.

To Vakmu's interrogation question: Ungor won't care what methods in particular against strictly evil creatures within reason. but he has no skills to actually get information out of "people". I can interrogate and even negotiate with bears in the forest we come across. :) But if needed, I can take a cantrip +2 enhanced diplomacy.

To the observation post question: I can take Hide Campsite to create an OP with a great viewpoint for 1 x 20'cube.

Vrianna, make sure you add the ring to your character.

Rommin could try to interrogate any prisoners we may come across. He isn't terribly intimidating, but he might be able to trick them by flattering their egos and playing the good cop (Diplomacy +16).

This might be where Rommin can help. He has stealth and perception. He has an innocuous thrush familiar. He can cast detect secret doors and can cast alter self (to look like an orc or other race the giants might be using).

Questions for Chill: 1) The mammoth is presumably already domesticated as a combat trained mount (the frost giant was using it as such after all). After 14 hrs under the influence of the Animal Purpose Training, he's probably pretty used to the party. Will I need to keep casting Animal Purpose Training, or will he come to accept the party as handlers?
2) How heavy is the mammoth harness from the camp? This is because if it's light enough, I will take it along in my Handy Haversack.

1/ It is combat trained and what you suggest is ok.

2/ ugh! I will work it out.
Harness and reins - 32lb
Blanket and straps - 48lb
Fairly bulky and somewhat smelly. Johann used a basic blanket as a saddle, and likely fought on foot, with the Mammoth beside him.

That's too bad Vrianna. Good luck to you dealing with these life things.

OK all,
1) Are we looking for a replacement?
2) Assuming yes, what kind of replacment?

I say yes to (1).

As for (2), we have 2 divine full casters ( Vakmu - shaman, Ungor - Druid), 1 Full arcane (Wenla - Arcanist), and a another close to full arcane caster (Rommin - wizard mostly) and a sneak (Brother H). I would suggest a Martial type of some sort; at a minimum IMO, they need to be able to help Ungor hold the line in melee.

Sorry to see you go Vrianna. If you don't mind, I will keep you as an NPC for a while, until I find a way for your character to bow out, then remove you from the game.

So I'll start up recruitment again.
