Does Orlanna also have to make a will save against the front Naga? Is this a gaze attack? If so can we avert/close our eyes against it?
Be careful, that one at the back shielded itself.
My actions depend on whether I have to make the will save
Death-Lok |
Clovis resists the naga's gaze attack, which he communicates to the rest of the party.
Given their 13 levels of experience, Clovis and the party normally associate gaze attacks with a range of 30'. As you are not currently within range, you do not have to avert gaze, etc. According to the rule, you only make a save if you begin your turn within range or if the monster focuses its gaze on you. None of you are within range of any gaze attack currently. However, you can take defensive options:
Averting Eyes: The opponent avoids looking at the creature’s face, instead looking at its body, watching its shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc. Each round, the opponent has a 50% chance to avoid having to make a saving throw against the gaze attack. The creature with the gaze attack, however, gains concealment against that opponent.
Wearing a Blindfold (closing your eyes): The foe cannot see the creature at all (also possible to achieve by turning one’s back on the creature or shutting one’s eyes). The creature with the gaze attack gains total concealment against the opponent.
With this new information, you may repost your actions, if you wish.
Orlanna Norbelos |
Is blue dead? It isnt clear as it is still on the map. It would really help if we could use something like Google slides that we could all amend so it would be clearer wheere players were at least.
Orlanna flies back down the tunnel, getting out of range of any possible gaze attack.
You have this, go team!
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
Sorry, didn't see you ping me to go.
Kaine dismounts and orders his steed to back up, then begins inspiring the others before calling down thunder nah nah nahnah nah nahnah nah on the remaining worm.
Move action dismount, standard action Soundburst, swift action inspire courage +3.
Soundburst: DC 19 Fort Save to avoid stun for 1 round.: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Death-Lok |
I'm not very tech savvy. My maps are better than theater of the mind! :)
Fort save: 1d20 ⇒ 14..success!
Round 2: Enemies
The red worm naga moves up 30' and casts magic, shooting 2 rays of fire at Grymm!
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 - hit
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3) = 11
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 - miss
Another worm naga suddenly appears from the east to flank the party!
Everyone must make a DC 20 Will save.
Grymm, Clovis, and Kaine as a result of being within 30' of the Red Naga.
Orlana and Posh as a result of being within 30' of the Yellow Naga.
After your saves, you are up.
Grymm Bloodstone |
Will save: 1d20 + 11 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 5 = 33
Round 2:
Grymm moves east until he is 10' away and attacks the Red Naga.
Raging Power Vital Strike: 1d20 + 23 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 23 + 3 = 42
Damage: 6d6 + 34 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2, 6, 2) + 34 = 54

Posh Stemtimple |
Posh casts iron skin on himself and yells, ”stay behind me Orlanna. I will hold the line until the others are able to help.” He moves forward, and places himself between the wizard and the worm, his shield raised to defend himself.
+6 enhancement to my natural armor, so my AC is 38 now.
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
Any descriptors on the will save? I'll roll without any bonuses now, and add later if needed.
Will Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Orlanna Norbelos |
Pretty sure iron skin isn't core Posh. Will post my save and turn tonight.
Posh Stemtimple |
Pretty sure iron skin isn't core Posh. Will post my save and turn tonight.
Spells weren't required to be core, were they? Hmmm, in looking back, I see that they WERE restricted, I was thinking it was just classes, races, and feats. Hmmm, well, either way, I need to step into that gap. We can't have our wizard getting overrun now can we?
Mayhap there's a different spell that's core which can help my AC, stand by!
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
Shield of faith can.
Clovis Hatchlock |
will: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 1 = 30 (is this a charm/fear effect?)
Clovis moves forward, launches himself into the air, parkours off the southern wall of the passage and lands behind the naga.
A call of "Waaaahoooo!!!!" echoes down the hallway as the elven rogue bounces off the wall and over the worm.
It's either one or two acrobatics checks, depending on if the naga has a 10' reach.
Move 6xW, slowing down to half speed for the acrobatics checks. Moving through an enemy's space is CMD+5.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42
acrobatics: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37
Clovis acts before Grymm in the round, so when Grymm's Vital Strike hits, Opportunist activates, a shortsword flashes out, and he stabs the red naga.
shortsword: 1d20 + 19 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 19 + 3 + 2 = 39 (inspired, flanking)
damage: 1d6 + 4 + 3 + 7d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 + (5, 5, 5, 1, 1, 2, 1) = 32

Orlanna Norbelos |
I will avert my gaze from yellow, not sure which way you want the 50% roll to go. I will leave you to roll that and roll a save on the assumption that I need one.
Will save: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Just resisting the pull of the creature Orlanna scowls, They are trying to flank us.
Floating back a step she raises a hand and unleashes one of her most potent spells at the yellow worm.
5' step to the left then casting flesh to stone on the yellow worm. DC26 fortitude save or it becomes a lawn ornament. I will roll SR just in case it applies.
SR if needed, spell pen: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 2 = 28
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
Kaine continues inspiring the group, and then prepares to unleash more sonic power should the creature cast.
Continuing Inspire and readying to cast sound burst if it casts.
Soundburt DC 19 Fort Save: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Death-Lok |
Round 3:
The worm naga takes a 5' step toward and begins to cast defensively, when it gets struck by the bard's spell. It musters forward, as it glows with a black fire as it touches Grymm, covering him in the black fire.
Concentration check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33 vs. DC 23 - success!
Touch attack vs. Grymm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Grymm, make a DC 21 Fort save.
If successful, you take 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) + 10 = 18 damage.
If you fail, you take 12d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 6, 1, 4, 6, 2, 2, 4, 4, 6) + 10 = 58
The spell cast is Slay Living.
Party is up!
No map needed as the flank between Grymm and Clovis will surely kill the naga.
EDIT: Thanks Kaine.
Fort save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28..success

did it make the stun fort save?
Clovis Hatchlock |
Clovis takes a 5' step to close up with the naga and he slices it four times.

*Kaine "The Answer"* |
No worries. I wasn't too worried in that situation, but it's always funny to have something make the concentration check from the damage but fail the save =P
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
"No. As I said before, they are a rare type of Naga."
Orlanna Norbelos |
The worm naga takes a 5' step toward and begins to cast defensively, when it gets struck by the bard's spell. It musters forward, as it glows with a black fire as it touches Grymm, covering him in the black fire.
It doesnt matter this time as the fight is over but I dont think it can take a 5' step and then also move on its turn. I think it would also have then provoked from Grymm as it moved in.
Orlanna floats forward and examines the closest dead naga. Well, these things were unpleasant. Lets hope we dont meet any more of them, I dislike fighting things in these close tunnels.
She casts a simple detect magic spell and exmaines them for any signs of lingering magic or magical equipment.
Grymm Bloodstone |
O, it did not move again. The naga moved 5’ and then casted a touch spell on me. Nothing wrong with that. I keep forgetting that I have a once per rage power that its movement would have provoked an AoO. Have to remember that in the future.
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
"I wonder if there are more of them in the other tunnels." Kaine moves back outside and starts counting holes (at least the ones that he can see.
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
"Many Nagas have gaze attacks, and I suspect this one was no different." says Kaine.
Orlanna Norbelos |
Yes, we should be careful if we meet any more of them. We are in the tunnels now, we may as well finish exploring them.
Orlanna Norbelos |
Well, in that case I may never open my eyes again!
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
What's a matter Colonel Sanders. Chicken?
Posh Stemtimple |
Can't go wrong quoting Dark Helmet!
"Had anyone succumbed to the gaze of those creatures, it would have turned them into little more than a babbling idiot. On me, you may not have even noticed the change," Posh chuckles at his humor.
Orlanna Norbelos |
Remember, the first part of the rod can also remove feeblemind.
Clovis Hatchlock |
"That's going to come in handy." Clovis replies to Posh and Orlanna.
"The nagas aren't that tough, but it would be a problem if they ambushed us coming back up the shaft later."
"I think we should check the side tunnels as we descend."
before we leave, Clovis checks the naga corpses and surroundings for any portable wealth.
perception: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (19) + 25 = 44
*Kaine "The Answer"* |
"The heal spell can remove feeblemind as well."
