The elf pulls the falchion off from his back [[A]] Interact and, with a wicked grin on his face, rushes at the tree with the Purple berries growing on it, his long legs taking him an absurdly long distance! [[A]][[A]] Sudden Charge.

Karando draws his sword and raises his shield.

Fumbus races forward and throws a firebomb at the blue-sh tree. The bomb hits doing more fire damage than expected and continues to burn.

Seeing the trees move Hamarel runs forward and prepares to fight.

Hanging by the wagons, Celister gleefully rushes the purplish tree with his falchion, but the charge goes wide causing him to miss the tree.

Xathos moves up and throws magic fire at the purplish tree. Hitting it critically causing it to flame up.

Enraged by the use of fire, the blueish tree moves to attack Fumbus. The first branch misses the goblin, but the second one strikes Fumbus leaving a piercing wound and sticky sap.
Fumbus roll a DC15 reflex or become Clumsy 1 and -10ft movement. 3 actions to remove sap.

The green tree ignores Hamarel and move in to attack the fire using goblin Fumbus. It stabs Fumbus critically.
Fumbus roll a DC15 reflex or become Clumsy 2, immobilized for 1 round, -10ft movement. 3 actions to remove sap.

The purplish tree moves around Celister in favor of closing on and attacking the elf for throwing magic fire. The branch misses Xathos.
Celister can follow the tree as a reaction as it moves past him.

Both the blueish and purplish trees continue to burn taking more damage from the fire. The fire on the Blueish tree then burns itself out.

Sap:
A pine brute’s bark secretes sticky sap. Any creature that hits the pine brute with a melee attack, is hit by the pine brute, or otherwise touches the pine brute must succeed at a DC 17 Reflex save or suffer the effects of a lesser tanglefoot bag (Core Rulebook 545), also becoming clumsy 1 until the sticky substance is removed. A creature striking the pine brute with a weapon or object can automatically succeed at this Reflex save by leaving the object stuck to the pine brute. The object can then be removed with a successful DC 17 Athletics check (made as a single action). A pine brute can have any number of objects stuck to it at a time. The pine brute can release a stuck object by using a single action, and the sap dissolves 1 minute after the pine brute dies, releasing all stuck objects.

When the tree creature's limb initially fails to connect, the goblin gleefully chants, "Tree miss Fumbus! Tree miss Fumbus! Tree miss Fum--"

As the second limb slashes into the goblin, the chant comes to an abrupt end. Looking down and realizing that he is hurt, but not mortally, the goblin sighs with relief. He gleefully begins to cheer, "Fumbus okay! Fumbus okay! Fumbus okkk------"

As another limb impales the goblin, the cheer comes to an abrupt end.

Just a note for the GM: The 1d4 persistent damage Purple is taking is rolled every round, not once to determine the persistent damage for the whole time.

I also can’t use No Escape since I’m not raging.

Celister sneers as the tree moves past him.

”Hey! Don’t ignore me you little—!”

But just as he turns to face the moving tree, Celister catches a glimpse of a falling goblinoid across the way.

Fumbus!

The elf’s blood boils inside of him as he watches the sap-covered goblin fall unconscious.

”I had to deal with stupid, smelly yaks for weeks because of him! If anyone is going to beat the ever-living daylights out of that goblin it’s going to be me!

[[A]][[A]] Sudden Charge Celister bolts across the battlefield, moving around the fountain to stand over the body of the dying Fumbus found the thing that says I can do that and swings at the Green tree that fell his fellow Pathfinder! And its AC should be stupid-lowered because of flanking and sickened (since AC is a type of DC)

Note Fumbus is dying 2 due to being taken out by a critical hit.

As Fumbus crumples to the ground dying, Karando rushes up as close as he can and raise his shield.

Sylvia moves up to the fountain she adjust her glasses like a villain as she cast another ray at the green tree causing it to be sickened and slowed.

Hamarel runs after the tree punching at it multiple times. Only one attack hits wood with a resounding crack. Unfortunately the tree seems to be resistance to bludgeoning attacks it does less damage than expected.

Xathos again uses his magic to strike at the purplish tree with fire, but misses. He uses the last of his turn to create a shield out of his magic.

Celister sneers at the tree that ignored him, but seeing the goblin fall he races across the field in a rage and strikes the green tree hard with a slashing weapon.

The ill green tree retches leaves and bark all over Hamarel. It looks less ill green as it swing a branch and misses monk.

The blue tree turns to beat on Celister. It misses with the first attack, misses again with the second attack and strikes out with the third.

The purplish tree stabs repeatedly at Xathos with its branches. Only the first attack hits stabbing the fire using wizard.

The persistent fire on the Purplish tree flares up burning the tree before going out entirely.

With an apt shout, Celister chops at the Green tree, continues his momentum toward the Blue tree, and finally sweeps back around at the Green in a single spinning move! 3 Strikes

Karando at last closes the distance to the goblin and call on his divine favor to heal the creature.

The goblin comes to, closing his eyes and rubbing his head. "Whooah! Fumbus had bad dream," he begins as he slowly opens his eyes. "In dream, Fumbus attacked by a----wha-! Tree!" exclaims the goblin as he eyes set upon the attacking wooden creatures.

"Time for Fumbus to leaf!" The goblin attempts to crawl out from under the branches of the furious flora and get to his feet.

He then gets up and puts more distance between himself and the tree-creature.
Stride

Then, reaching into his bandolier, he tosses a vial of alchemist's fire at the bluish-barked son of a birch that had branched him.

Xathos then casts Produce Flame again targeting the purple tree as he is convinced that fire is more effective against wooden targets.

He finishes by casting Shield thus raising his AC to 19.

Fumbus is feeling better. (Dying 2-1=1)

Celister lets his inner lumberjack lose as the hacks first at the green tree hitting hard. Unfortunately, the sword gets stuck in the sticky sap and Celister wastes and action pulling it free. He then strikes the blue tree with a critical hack.
Celister - Roll a reflex DC17 to avoid your sword getting stuck. If stuck 1 action athletics DC17 check to pull it free.

Karando touches Fumbus sending the healing power of his god into the goblin. Karando continues to raise his shield.

The healing restores Fumbus to consciousness. He opens his eyes, jumps up and backs away from the angry tree before throwing a firebomb. Unfortunately, the firebomb goes long mostly missing the tree, but enough fire splashes on it to cause a flare-up. The blueish tree falls over dead.

Covered in sticky sap, Hamarel punches at the green tree. The first punch hits, but the blunt damage is less effective than normal only causing a small break. The second punch cracks the tree a little harder and is enough to kill it!

Facing an angry tree all by himself, Xathos strikes out with another magical flame critically hitting the tree causing it to almost explode in an infernal of flames killing it instantly.

*** Combat is over ***

The villagers who took cover when the trees attacked come out of hiding visibly shaken but thankful that you were there to save the day. The lead hunter emerges from a hunt carrying a straw-stuffed box, speaking in Tien he offers it to you ” We are grateful for your protection. The forest is quite upset about something. Please accept this as a token of our appreciation and may it help your mission.” Inside the box are three lesser alchemist’s fire.

Studying the tree monsters and taking samples, Sylvia agrees with Celister.

Hamarel is ready to go.

It is late in the day and the villages let you group rest in the village. The night passes uneventfully when morning comes the everyone is well-rested ready to travel.

As a few snow flurries fall, the hunter sees you off taking you to the old trail the lost caravan took.

As you start down the path it doesn’t take long before the wagon’s wheel gets caught on a root and has to be freed. A little further along the wagon gets stuck in a snowbank and you have to help the Yaks pull the wagon free.

The hunter waves and wishes you good luck as he turns to leave.

Fumbus eyes the trees to either side.

Xathos investigates the spirts of the forest.

The group makes slow progress nearly having to drag the wagon and Yaks down the old road through snowbanks and difficult tree roots. Along the journey, the road branches off several times, typically only for a short distance before rejoining the main path or reaching a dead end. The seemingly endless rows of conifer trees create a serene yet monotonous backdrop.

While the weather has obscured the trail, Celister and Sylvia spots obvious signs that the caravan before them ran into similar difficulties, such as an abandoned wheel along the side of the path and damaged branches.

Time seems to pass slowly as you seem more of the same trees after each bend in the path. Along the way, Xathos is the first to sense a manifestation that looks like a transparent humanoid shape outlined only by the snow, as if the forest itself were clinging to an invisible person. It seems to look at the party for a moment, then moves slowly toward you in a non-threatening fashion, hovering just above the ground. It’s moving slow enough that any individual can easily avoid it.

DC10 Nature or Religion check:

You recognize that the spirit needs a host to interact with the living world, and wants to possess one of you in order to share its experience; these types of spirits are not strong enough to take control of a body they possess, but they may influence their host’s thinking and behavior by superimposing their own consciousness.

Fumbus dreams of a burning trees.

When Karando reaches out and touches the spirit, it appears as if the spirit flows into the human champion. Karando arches his back and arms fly wide to his side as his eyes roll-up.

Karando:

You experience a rush of memories both from the spirit’s living days and its recent moments roaming the forest. You see an image of moving through swiftly through the forest running and leaping! Your heart is racing with fear as something in the forest is hunting you in a panic you miss-step falling to the ground, then pain as claws and teeth dig into your neck and backside followed by darkness and time passing.
Another recent memory surfaces you see a caravan of three wagons passing it is beset by five forest statues. While the guards are distracted repelling the attack, you see a sneaky humanoid with a fox’s head and tail infiltrate one of the wagons and then sneak away holding a sack of valuable relics.
Karando doesn’t recognize the forest statues or the fox head thief.
As Karando absorbs some of the spirit's personality he gains its increased agility and 5ft bonus to speed, but also a fear of the forest at the beginning of each encounter make a DC 5 flat check or be frightened 1 for first round. Both effects are for the rest of the adventure.

After a few moments, Karando body relaxes and he comes to his senses eyes darting from side to side.

Karando glaces warily at the surrounding trees. "This forest is a dangerous place. But, at least we know we're on the right track. Everyone should be on the look-out!"
