Isiros accepts Abalyn's assessment and approaches the door on the left. He has his Halberd in one hand as he opens the door with the other hand.

As the light shines through the door, Isiros can see a hallway ahead of him, curving slightly to the left, and can make out a chamber beyond. At the moment the light hits that room, the party can hear some very loud cawing and shrieking, as if from some sort of bird, coming from the room. A second cawing suggests there might be two of whatever they are.

Nature check could tell you something about the likely birds up ahead.

"Ugh, the birds..." Alak says. "I forgot about those stupid things. They'll make a ruckus until we're past them. They don't like intruders."

This wide, empty stone hallway is oppressive and dark. To the east, the hall ends at three separate open doorways, while six additional corridors branch off to the north and south. A mass of rubble spills out of a clogged archway in the northeastern portion of the room.

The two birds continue squawking, and in fact start looking even more agitated as you enter the room. "They look more upset than when I came through here before..." Alak observes.

Just as he finishes saying this, two froglike humanoids come charging out of the hallway directly across from where you all just entered the room.

Concealed:

This condition protects a creature if it’s in mist, within dim light, or amid something else that obscures sight but does not provide a physical barrier to effects. An effect or type of terrain that describes an area of concealment makes all creatures within it concealed.

When you target a creature that’s concealed from you, you must attempt a DC 5 flat check before you roll to determine your effect. If you fail, you don’t affect the target. The concealed condition doesn’t change which of the main categories of detection apply to the creature. A creature in a light fog bank is still observed even though it’s concealed.

Abalyn hits the boggard and deals him some damage.

The red bird goes down in a flurry of beautifully-colored feathers.

Alak steps to the other bird and swings at it twice.
greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 1 = 18 damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 5 - 1 = 8 damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
His first swing hits the bird, wounding it but not taking it out. He is also no longer frightened by the croak.

The purple boggard tries again to tie up Isiros with its tongue.
tongue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 This time he hits.

Tongue Grab:

If the boggard warrior hits a creature with its tongue, that creature becomes grabbed by the boggard. Unlike with a normal grab, the creature isn’t immobilized, but it can’t move beyond the reach of the boggard’s tongue. A creature can sever the tongue by hitting AC 15 and dealing at least 3 slashing damage. Though this doesn’t deal any damage to the boggard, it prevents it from using its tongue Strike until it regrows its tongue, which takes a week.

grabbed:

You’re held in place by another creature, giving you the flat-footed and immobilized conditions. If you attempt a manipulate action while grabbed, you must succeed at a DC 5 flat check or it is lost; roll the check after spending the action, but before any effects are applied.

The frog then steps toward him and swings its club at him.
club: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 5 = 21 damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Isiros is knocked out cold by the swing.

The boggard takes some hits from the casters and from Abalyn, but is still standing. He looks very hurt though!

He swings his club once at Abalyn, then at Isiros.

Ash scurries into the battle, since the way is no longer blocked by a huge press of bodies.

"Alak, no sleeping on the job!" Ash cries out, while chucking a ball of warm light towards the bleeding hellknight. Alak's blood sizzles when he's hit by the ball and he gasps, then settles back. Unconscious, but no longer bleeding.

Ash turns to Isiros and Abalyn, now that he's next to them. "Okay, we've got them outnumbered and we've knocked out almost as many of them as they've knocked out us. So... let's finish, then drag Alak off to get some sleep."
