My only options are 0 experience characters, so I will most likely be bringing this melee sorcerer. If this is likely to be a low-combat, skill heavy scenario I can whip something else up.

You can, technically, go with a table of 4 (or 3 if you're being really technical.) But since there's usually more players than games, you might want to repost over at Flaxseed and let the public know you've still got 2 seats.

Maybe this is the cheap-o interpretation, but in the absence of extenuating information, the fact is that swarms are by default treated as a single monster.

This does remind me of a thread I contributed to a few years ago. I'd say the answer is similar (albeit not identical).

Since deathwatch is an area effect, rather than targeting a specific creature, I think it works on the swarm.

That's good enough for me. I mostly wanted to make sure there wasn't a specific rule against it.

Can I use my wing to create a wind to disturb them, and shoo them away from the objects?


You can't prevent their movement (including into your square) but you can mitigate the damage they do.

A stronger wind, e.g., gust of wind is required to affect them directly.


I'm revising the results of Maxine's acid splash and future splashy attacks.

The touch AC of the swarms is listed as 20, which doesn't make sense to me. I'm ruling that anything that targets touch will go against an AC of 5, as if one were targeting a square. This seems to be RAI based on a few threads I've read.

Weirdly, this didn't come up in Round 1 for the acid vials (which both hit AC 20!) or the other time I GMed this live (everyone had AoE spells) or when I played this (my alchemist's splash damage included my Int modifier and I single handedly slaughtered the swarms).

Not intentionally, but I do have a nasty habit of having names slip into my subconscious then percolate back up in the guise of ideas I came up with all by myself.

I once wrote a short story then a novel that included a character named "Mineesa" then realized she was the NIECE of the character that introduced her. It's possible, he actually said "this is my niece, Mineesa."

I was actually thinking leather work made from special leather when I chose it. I'm trying to find the balance for this character between dark and amusing. My inspirations are "dandy" vampires.

But, yes Garak is not a bad analog. On the surface, he's a simple tailor. Dig a little deeper and there is something dangerous.

I figured most of my posts would be with my characters' names, so I wanted to save good or clever names for my characters. :)

Oh, don't worry about that; shrinks have been a normal and regular part of my life since I was 6. I'm pretty well cared for, I've restarted an old medication now that I see I was probably better off with it, and as it happens, I am about to go on an unprecedented real-life adventure in less than a month!

Please scrutinize these carefully. The GP on the Chronicle Sheet as printed was wrong, and was errataed in the GM forums, but no revised Chronicle Sheet was posted. In addition, the GP earned is individually level-dependent. So make sure I got your level correct, and the GP for your level correct (1 = 425, 2 = 700, 3 = 1200).
