Otto O'Read |
Yep, busy with holiday stuff, but happy to keep going as long as people don't mind a sometimes slower pace.
GM Netherpongo |
It's been a month and a half since we've heard from Karn, so for now I'm pulling him out of the party. If he shows back up, I guess he lingered in the mist room tasting various features of the area.
My assumption is that the party is fine to continue with five. Nothing really changes the scaling of the Emerald Spire anyway.
@Coreleus: thanks for letting us know about the period of absence.
Otto O'Read |
Yep, the Spire was written for parties of 4, so we should be fine (and of course what could possibly go wrong after saying that...?).
GM Netherpongo |
I'm back from my holiday distractions. I don't have anything new to post yet, however. Do you guys do anything with the sword or shield? Or do you just move on?

They are both useless to Otto, but also, since this is a replay for me, I prefer to let others make the decisions about courses of action.
Deno'thar |
We’re pathfinders so grab and go? I have to 2 hand my long spear to give my full bonuses.
Deno'thar |
Is that two spellcraft checks? Also, are we supposed to roll out own will saves?
GM Netherpongo |
Sorry I didn't see your questions earlier. It's just one Spellcraft check that I wrote out poorly. Go ahead and roll your own Will saves.
Deno'thar |
I can't find a reference anywhere to what olaggi are other than the seugathi monster entry. Also, the scenario called for Knowledge (Dungeoneering) to identify them. So, I'm going to say that they're aberrations (ignoring Handle Animal...just too alien to work with) and non-intelligent.
They don’t like nougat ?
GM Netherpongo |
Waiting on actions from Otto & Coreleus. If anyone wants to declare themselves on permanent ready or delay, they can do so. It's another awkward fight.
In case it impacts anyone's decision-making, I'll point out that this critter would gave to make a hard Escape Artist check to squeeze through the Medium-sized exits.
Planning to move ahead tomorrow morning.
Deno'thar |
Assuming no ranks, the professors fly skill would be +14, so he hovers on a nat 1.
+8 dex (20+4 mutagen +2 reduce person) + 2 morale (heroism) + 2 (fly spell) +4 (good maneuverability) -2 (ACP)
Professor Baldeck Kaldosian |
My apologies for peeking at the rolls curiosity got the better of me. Pathfinder only has a few RAW secret rolls, along with obvious knowledge spoiler used to keep PBP games going, I don't look at either of those. Now that I know you like to keep attack roles as secret rolls I won't look.
Also, the creature is sickened if it can be no save.
GM Netherpongo |
I'm not angry so please don't take this in a yelling way, but it seems obvious to me that everything in a spoiler is restricted to those who should have access.
As far as RAW goes, I agree that attack rolls are not secret by the rules. They are also not public by the rules.
Otto O'Read |
Sorry for the delay in posting - will be able to in a few hours.
GM Netherpongo |
We're close to done now. Is anyone on a time crunch where they need their character back soon?
Deno'thar |
I’m on no time crunch. I suspect many of us may like to be done before the next pbp. I’m slow track for this chronicle and planning to retire Deno’thar at level 9 in perpetuity since I already have level 8, 10, 11, 13 and 15 PCs that I’m interested in playing.
Although he is a fun PC to play in no credit replays, but I’ve only had a handful of those anyways.
Professor Baldeck Kaldosian |
I'm not in a crunch. I will be keeping my eye open for an opportunity to play the next level, but I'm not in a rush.
Otto O'Read |
No time crunch for me.
Otto O'Read |
Yes, Otto is available to keep playing after this, whether another level of the Spire (if the GM is willing), or something else.
Deno'thar |
I have other pcs I’d love to play, just planning to retire Deno’thar.
Deno'thar |
Otto is now an attack helicopter, as long as he is carrying Coreleus...
Professor Baldeck Kaldosian |
Great job GM. I had a blast. I had/have been dying to play more Emerald Spire and I'm glad people talked me into playing Professor.
Otto O'Read |
My apologies for not posting the past few days - real life has been kinda crazy - so glad that it didn't negatively affect the final combat.
And yes, great job, GM! This was really fun and if you have any interest in continuing down into the Spire, Otto and Allison are definitely available.
Incidentally, this was a replay for me, and when I first played it we nearly TPK'ed twice, first in the room with the crazy trap at the beginning (thank goodness we had a trap destroyer extraordinaire) - I think that may be the worst trap I've ever seen in PFS, and then again in the room with the mind fog. Oof. Awful. Glad we had an easier time of it!
GM Netherpongo |
The clutch factor in the mind fog room is that the normal, nonmagical fog kept the bad guys from seeing as well, which prevented them from using a lot of their abilities (they are capable of choosing your confusion table results which can get scary fast). It also kept them from dying very quickly. It's just an awkward fight all around.
As for more of Emerald Spire, I'm not really interested. I was happy to do this one as part of a GM swap with Toshiro, but I frankly don't enjoy most of the Emerald Spire missions.
Planning to work on chronicles today. If you never posted your chronicle information I'll need them.
Did anyone pick up any weird diseases or anything else we need to resolve before we finish? I need to find a better way of tracking that.
GM Netherpongo |
Now that I've gone looking for it, I don't see chronicle information from anyone. So, let me know your info and I'll get to work on chronicles!
Deno'thar |

I have Deno'thar's chronicle ready, but no one else's information.
I've seen some other people set up a google drive folder to give the chronicles out, which seems better than what I usually do (ask for emails). Does anyone know where to find a tutorial on how to do that?
Deno'thar |
if you have a google drive, you just put them in a folder and set share with anyone with link. then you put the link up here and we download. It is a right click option on the folder itself (under sharing).

Nathan thanks a LOT for running!
I'll play the next level if someone is willing to DM. My plate is kind of full now.
Toshiro

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I looked at the Google Drive solution and while I could probably get it working, I'm not going to try it right now. I have documents in my drive that I need to keep using but that I don't have the right to put at risk (if I mess up the sharing for instance).
So, I'll go conventional (for me) this time instead. Please PM me your email address and I can get the chronicle to you.
As for the next level...I'm reconsidering. Figuring out what I wanted the Tomb of Yarrix chronicle for in the first place has got me thinking that I might want the next one as well. I'll look over the next level of the spire and get you an answer soon. If it doesn't have any stupid fights like that fog/confusion thing, maybe we can blast through it a lot quicker.
GM Netherpongo |
The Tomb of Yarrix chronicles should be out to Deno'thar, Toshiro and Otto. I still need emails (or an alternate delivery method) for Professor Kaldosian and Coreleus.
I looked over the next level of the Emerald Spire yesterday and nothing looks like it was specifically designed to be obnoxious, although I can always imagine something going south when I read over stuff like this. If everyone is up for it, I'll start a new campaign for the next level down soon.
Sidenote: I HATE it when the chronicle authors put the Fill & Sign boxes in for you. I'm sure they're trying to be helpful but it only gets in the way.
Other sidenote: That's a crazy low PFS number, Toshiro.
Edit: and the session is reported

I got a campaign coin too :)
But I just tend to use my "normal" number.
GM Netherpongo |
I was thinking a campaign coin might be in the mix there somewhere. Neat.
I should be getting my 5-star any day now if the paperworks goes through.
Coreleus should have their chronicle now.
Deno'thar |
I would suggest clustered shots, helps with dr.
Thanks for the game, reporting, and chronicle. What is the level range on the next level?
Professor Baldeck Kaldosian |
Clustered shot is great the snap shot line of feats is ok. If you don't mind getting close.
GM Netherpongo |
Otto just let me know that I only gave him 1 XP on his chronicle. That means I probably messed up everyone's but Deno'thar's. I'll get corrections out later tonight if I can. This is a good chance if anyone wants me to put something else on their chronicle that I didn't the first time.
The next two levels of the Emerald Spire (the one we'll be playing and the one after) both have a level range of 9-11.
