The holidays are kicking my ass more than I expected, this is not dead, just on hiatus until 2nd week of january.

... wow, I have to be honest... I forgot to do anything further with my rolls on this one. Given I never withdrew, I guess that gives me some time to actually come up with a submission. Will turn to on that now, assuming The Nine hasn't closed the recruitment without my realizing it.

So still working on the details, but here is a rough idea of what I would be bringing to the table if selected:

Who were you: Ostensibly, the son of a group of traveling Varisian performers. In actuality, the son of one of the Nidalese emmisaries to Cheliax and the infernal magistrate she advises, stolen away at age 2 by worshipers of Desna and hidden among said traveling performers. Raised to worship Desna, but finds himself drawing shadows to himself like a cloak. Birth parents had been conflicted on how to raise him, both having promised him to their respective gods (Zon-Kuthun having a special interest, after all, all Nidalese are by rights his, but Asmodeus also having a stake due to contracts made by the father).

How did you die: Defending the caravan from attackers, the chipped starknife in his hands dissipating back into the shadows from which it was formed.

Still need to sort out a few things (skill points, ability point adjustments, traits) and I want to do a more proper backstory, but wanted you to have a submission to look at in the meantime at least.

I'm currently a little full on games. I'll have to withdraw my submission. Good luck all of you resuscitators.

That said he hasn't said anything here since then, so you probably have enough time to draft up something if you are interested.

Death Story:
Baird sat at the fire with his mess-mates, his pipes by his side, eating a silent breakfast before the coming battle. His regiment would be leading the first wave against the Orcish prison stronghold of Aâgmar. He knew this was a great honor, but he was still fretting the battle. As the order passed through camp to prepare for the short march over the small hill to the stronghold, he slings his pipes over his shoulder, clips his target to his belt, gave his broadsword yet another quick pass-over with his polishing cloth, and stepped proudly into his place at the head of his regiment. As they crest the hill, he sees the ramparts of the castle packed with Orcish archers, their bows like a forest popping up on either side of the parapets. The commander calls a column halt, and he watches the regiment fan out on either side, and hears the tromping of boots as the other regiments do the same behind them. At a nod from the commander, he fills his bag with a mighty puff, and begins a medley of two of his favorite tunes "Torag's Battle March" and "The Battle of Nine Stones." As his music swells up over the lines, the other pipers join in, the voices of hundreds of dwarves rising to meet them. The commander yells "CHARGE!" and, as one, the company rises from their knees with a mighty clattering and grating of metal on metal. For a moment, the battle cries drown out the pipes, then they die away as the line surges forward, soon replaced by the stomp of boots and the sounds of metal on metal. As Baird leads the charge, music swelling from his pipes, the first volley flies in. He hears a few strangled shrieks, and the dull thump of bodies falling to the ground. But he doesn't look back, continuing with his steady, fast footfalls, in time with the music surging from his pipes. He wasn't so lucky on the second volley, one of the arrows finds the middle of one of the riveted links of his mail. He falls to the ground clutching his pipes to his side. He is dead before he hits the ground. It was a heroic, quick death, with his weapon by his side, his pipes under his arm, and a prayer to Torag on his lips.

Just realized my first set has three normal rolls, I'll just the other set instead of trying to figure out which to use.

Well, I haven't heard a response on my instrument inquiry, so here's two options:

The Pipes of MacAllister:
These pipes, have been passed down through generations of the MacAllister family, as they come of age. They were crafted by legendary pipe-maker Lachlan McIness. They are a set of Great Highland Bagpipes, with a maroon bag cover, embroidered with a holy symbol of Torag. The Chanter has gold inlay. The sound of these pipes is said to be some of the best, even of those made by McIness. People fighting in battle with these pipes have said to experience the ghosts of past MacAllisters bolstering troops with silent pipes, and hacking through Orcs with eerie speed. These apparitions fade as soon as the music ends.

If instruments aren't allowed:

The targe of Duncan Adair:
This Targe, or shield, was once owned by Baird's close friend, Duncan Adair. It was salvaged off an battlefield by someone, and given to Baird by that person, who knew they were close. It the power to magically move to block incoming hits. It looks like a standard shield.

That's all of my submission requirements, I'll finish up the alias and wait for news.

First off, is this still accepting applications?

Second, what's the timeline look like? Specifically, is Lastwall gone yet? I've got in mind a spy for Lastwall in Urgur, who got found out. I think it still works even if Lastwall is gone, he's just stuck behind the lines with no place to go home.

Urien Gul. Dhampir. Created in shadow, touched by shadow, but not subservient to shadow. He is cursed, body and soul, but a core of stubborness kept him from falling to his inherited urges.

Urien used his growing power over shadow to battle undead and other horrors in his native Ustalav. He knew well the value of allies and did his utmost to keep them safe from the horrors of the night. He took great satisfaction in holding together the group that finally took down his "father", Valens Arkmoor, for good. As a prize, Urien seized a simple black iron circlet from the ruined castle's throne room. It felt important.

However, he had not realised that a gathering of vampires had been arranged for that very night. They arrived before Urien and his companions could flee, and they had to barricade themselves into the castle itself.

The vampires assaulted, realising what had occured. One swore blind when it saw Urien wearing the circlet - "The Tenebrous Band! The fool Valens left it in sight! Slay the whelp now!"

Urien used the vampire's focus on him to give his companions a chance to escape.

Better one perish than all, Urien mused calmly, before the spawn charged and their masters struck...

Well if it works for you, I think going post-Lastwall gives him a certain urgency. This is a half-orc, either an UnRogue or an Investigator (Infiltrator), who worked for the forces of Lastwall, and whose job was to spy in Urgir, observe and report on what the orcs were up to. After the destruction of Lastwall, he was eventually discovered and cut down by Empty Hand shock troopers.
