"Bring it with you," Puzzle suggests to Kit, indicating the bomb. "It might be of use at a later time."

"A good idea. We should operate under that assumption as we proceed," the android says in agreement with Wyrd and Kit.

This balcony, bordered with a transparent half-wall, overlooks the museum floor 15 feet below. Numerous panels display images of erupting solar flares and show the movement of solar currents. Clear display cases house an array of artifacts, from objects related to sun worship on various worlds to a large technological satellite labeled as a solar atmosphere probe. Overhead hangs a replica of the skeleton of a fire whale, a magical beast that swims in the sun’s atmosphere. Two wide stairways descend to the museum floor.

As you reach the top of the stairs, you see another Blootshot member with an observer-class security robot raise a pulsecaster pistol at you. Wyrd reacts quickly enough to do something before he fires!

As the party enters the next area, you see that an impressionist sculpture dangles from the ceiling over this largely empty room. The displays along the walls are deactivated, and the flooring is being replaced. To the west, just inside the museum’s entrance, is an information kiosk. To the south is an elevator door, flanked to the east by a double door marked “Maintenance” and by another door to the west.

A large, curved window to the northwest allows a view into a smaller area, which is a disheveled laboratory. This lab looks to be part of an exhibit, with a set of robotic arms controlled from this room by a clearly labeled public panel. Also inside the window is an empty human-sized tube labeled “Solar Scout Elemental” along with a holographic loop showing a luminous elemental fitted with scientific gear flying into the sun.

You know the DCI uses solar-adapted elementals, outfitted with flight and scanning tech that can resist the solar atmosphere, as short-range scouts and a cheap alternative to drones. As you look up toward the sculpture, the missing solar-adapted air elemental flies from behind the sculpture and at the party!

Into initiative!

"Gah, we've got a flyer. Think we can bring it down without killing it?"

This is weird for it to be attacking, right? It sounds like they normally work with the DCI?

Nomyra moves forward and takes the Total Defense action.

Vedrir looks through the belongings and begins to look at the stones:

Physical science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

"To properly assess their value I would need more time than a minute. But some of them are interesting pieces. Depending on the market one could sell them for around 700 maybe 800 credits."

Vedrir stands not far from Nomyra and scans the being using his microlab
Life Science 29 to identify, immunities, resistances, vulnerabilities

He raises his hand and says
"Hi, are you all right? We discovered intruders in the museum"

Effectively delaying after it moves, responds.

Fire Starters Loot

You aren't really sure the exact details of how the DCI and elementals relate to each other, but it seems like the DCI more uses the elementals, like drones for example, than works with the elementals.

Vedrir's custom microlab reads out some information about the creature. (Normally it'd be Mysticism, and unfortunately Wyrd didn't do well enough on his auto-roll to ID it).

This is a solar-adapted air elemental, a variant type of air elemental Solar adaptation is a rare ability that allows the creature to survive within a star despite the luminance, pressure, radiation, and convection currents. Immunities include standard elemental immunities as well as fire. It has no additional resistances. It also has not responded to you.

Making their way down from the balcony, Puzzle helps their companions search the foes for clues as to who they are and why they are here (procuring items of use amd value as they do so).

Upon reaching the laboratory display, Puzzle is startled by the freed elemental, instinctively raising their rifle. Recognising the creature from the display, the android holds their fire, and lowers the barrel slightly. Puzzle remains wary as the elemental appears to be flying directly toward them and awaits to see its response to Vedrir's greeting.

Also delaying.

Fire Starters Loot

As the party pauses and attempts to communicate with the elemental, it breaks off its flight and hovers ten feet in front of/above the group. It says... something, with words that sound like wind.

Auran:

"Time to go? Out to the sun. In to the sun."

Party's up, maintaining initiative for now...

Puzzle glances at their companions and gives a slight shake of their head. "I am not familiar with that language," they whisper.

"I am sorry, but I do not understand what you said," the android explains. Being the only planar languages the android knows, they repeat the statement in Celestial and Ignan.

Is there a way to find out if air elementals usually know any other languages beyond Auran?

Fire Starters Loot

Vedrir would also know elementals typically only speak their native language, or Auran in this case. Most elementals also possess limited intelligence compared to typical Pact World races; they're smarter than animals, but might have comparable intelligence to a human child of 5 or so.

Kit keeps his rifle in hand, not quite pointing at the elemental, as he waits for Vedrir's diplomatic efforts. Delay.

Vedrir looks at his allies who just stand there with there mouths wide open.

He takes a step forwards and lowers his gun. He raises his two hands

"Stay calm, we will find someone who can communicate with you."

He once again turns his head

"Wyrd! You carry microsun with you, try to speak with it. You share the same passion!"

Then he changes his setting on the comm unit and tries calling any contact that they have in DCI.

"THis is Vedrir from security we found fire Elemental out of his tube flying around, can we get aid from anyone that can speak with him, ehh or her. "

Vedrir turns back and stands as he was.

Wyrd arches a eyebrow at Vedrir

"So you want me to try some interpretative dance?"

Wyrd shrugs

"Could be worth a try"

Wyrd summons forth his energies and light up his crystal and makes it float around above his hand, first going up and down and then orbiting his hand in the imitation of a small star.

Mechanically I'm not sure this works, but basically activate my solarion weapon crystal and then using psycokinetic hand to move it around a bit ...I don't think the crystal stay's active/glowing while I'm not technically wielding it..so maybe I light it up and then just have a floating crystal a few seconds later

Diplomacy included just in case: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Fire Starters Loot

As Wyrd tries his floating crystal trick, Nib's voice responds over the comm.

"Sky's out? That means somebody's in the lab! Go stop whatever's going on in there! We'll grab Sky when we get there, but they'll be okay in the meantime."

Momentarily transfixed by Wyrd's crystal, the elemental (presumably Sky) flies a little bit closer before seeming to notice the large holographic sun back in the museum. Sky darts past the party to the holographic stun. She looks back at the party for a moment, pointing at the sun, before turning and continuing to stare at the hologram.

Moving the party along as the elemental appears transfixed by the holographic sun for now.

The DCI's Endosolar Science Lab contains long counters and tables that hold hold containers, tools, and built-in scanning devices. A few mineral samples lie scattered among the tools. Near the door, a rack holds white lab coats of various sizes and shapes. Some have fallen to the floor, one separated from the others. To the northeast is an open door to the exhibit lab.

Rushing forward to the exhibit lab, the party sees the same long counters and tables holding containers related to lab experiments. The counters are interrupted, however, by a by a large bank of consoles in the room’s northeast corner; one has a hacking kit attached. To the south, built into the outer window, is an empty tube big enough to hold a human. Running across the ceiling, a track supports a pair of robotic arms.

Standing in front of the computer are 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 identical versions of an ikeshti dressed in graphite carbon skin and holding a survival knife. To the south next to the tube, another ikeshti dressed in the same "uniform" as the other Bloodshots you've faced holds a pulsecaster pistol on the door.

"Oh, hello. My name is Vadak. We were just leaving," says the graphite carbon skin as he raises his knife and rushes toward the door!

Looks like he won initiative, too

The party is caught off guard by his sudden attack! Vadar rushes forward, but rather that attack with his survival knife, the ikeshti concentrates and tries to hit Nomyra with an electric attack!

Jolting Surge: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Electric damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2) = 7

Being taken by surprise, Nomyra is barely hit by the electric attack!

Party's up!

Be careful Kit, you don't want to hit Nomyra.
