You wait for a few minutes, but no additional messages get beamed to your ship. During those minutes, Bel checks and finds the ship hull and systems undamaged and in full working order. With some time for the shields to regenerate, you'll be in perfect shape for the next time you fly. Once you feel ready, you gather up and take a step out of the ship to take in the full extent of the structure you landed in.

Belmarniss breathes a sigh of relief at the state of the ship.

"Our investments in this beautiful thing are paying big dividends," she says. "Not a scratch on her."

The hanger bay lies on the lower floor of a large, damaged structure. The roof is caved in in places, twisted boards of some kind of white material hanging down and in places revealing the fiery sky above. Rubble litters the ground. Nib peeks her head out of the Breath, datapad recording every moment. Taeress follows behind her, while Ilor and Jenan set out of the Breath and join you.

Belmarniss keeps pace with Ordyt as they enter the battlefield.

"What do you think that "don't listen to the voices" warning meant? Don't answer comm chatter? Be wary of mental attacks or magic?" she wonders aloud.

For reference - Jenan (elven operative) is the blonde haired elf token with a light blue outline, while Ilor (android soldier) is the red-skinned token with light pink outline.

Jenan and Ilor watch your rear as you head east to check the downed shuttle. The shuttle is of particularly strange make composed of several silver 'droplets' connected to a central pod by smooth spokes. There's no obvious entrance to it or any openings for thrusters or weapons. However, the damage to this particular one is extensive. The port-side of the shuttle has been torn to pieces by weapons fire, leaving ragged holes that expose the delicate machinery within. Pinned beneath the wreckage is the charred remains of some massive lizard-like creature. It appears to have had two thick legs, a long body and tail, two scythe-like arms, and a large head and wide jaws. It looks very much like a tyrannosaur.

Life Science DC25 to ID:
This corpse appears to be that of an adult Nyssholora, an apex predator native to Castrovel. Their phasic claws vibrate at high speeds to deliver sonic strikes, while their deadly jaws crush and tear at their prey. You know they can sense telepathy and telepathic creatures, and are particular well suited to hunting such creatures.

Exceeding DC by 5 or more gets you more info. Let me know what broad category of info you want.

How old does the wreckage look? I'm operating on the assumption that this is all a few days old at least, but is there anything to indicate either way?

Slinging his rifle over his shoulder, Ordyt cautiously approaches the strange, wrecked ship. "Is anyone in there? Is anyone injured?" he calls over, hoping to heard but not daring to shout.

Ordyt will approach and peek in through the holes in the ship, looking primarily for survivor(s)

The wreckage isn't smoking and the corpse of the beast beneath it seems like it's had some time to start rotting. It's likely been this way for at least several days, if not longer. Ordyt's voice echoes around the area, but there's no response from the ship. If there's anyone inside, they can't hear him or aren't willing to respond. When he peeks into the openings, he sees torn and damaged technology of an unfamiliar make, but no livable spaces, nor any occupants.

Ordyt prods and pries at the wreck, but he finds no clear way to get access to any interior spaces that might be able to hold passengers or crew. When he inspects it with his mystical senses, he detects lingering auras surrounding the pods - some kind of magic that might have once protected them. It seems some special methods might be needed to open the pods up. Bel doesn't spot anything that Ordyt missed.

While this detailed perusal is going on, Popoko responds to Flint with "No mwessages, fwwiends!♫ Vewwy quiet! Almost like-" Her report is cut off by Jenan shushing her over comms. The elf, suddenly tense, slips to the west and peeks around the corner to the south. She whispers over comms "Incoming." a moment before the rest of you start to hear the padding of clawed feet on metal.

Open once you turn the corner:
The bipedal dinosaur-like beast that is stalking its way up toward you from the entrance of the hangar looks a lot like the one pinned under the wreck. This one is however quite alive. Rivulets of fire run along its hide and drip from its claws.

Forewarned by Jenan, Ordyt abandons his investigation of the wrecked ship and sprints back the other way, skidding to a halt right behind the elf and peering around the corner. He lets out an impressed whistle as the monster comes into view.

"Let it come to us, we can soften it up from a distance and I don't fancy getting eaten--again," he signals through his helmet's commset.

The beast rears back, screeching soundlessly. There's no sign that it understood Flint's words. As far as Flint can tell, the beast is acting and reacting as a trained animal might, though there's no sign of a handler. It appears to have hostile intentions.

Ilor leaps into action as well, drawing his plasma spear and taking up a defensive posture next to Flint. Jenan is more proactive, carefully inspecting the beast before firing a rippling shot of negative energy at it from her pistol. With Sammad's aid, that shot connects, leaving the beast looking befuddled.

The beast pounces into action, stopping short of Ilor before letting loose a cacophonous blaze from its mouth. The cone of fire and noise crashes into Ilor, Flint, Jenan, Sammad and Ordyt.

Off-balance from the creature’s massive sonic boom, Flint prepares to charge, but his way is blocked! Instead he shakes his head and invokes his Plasma Sheath, starting to blaze with a mixture of holy power and flame.

Belmarniss winces at the roar. Even if she wasn't in the actual blast herself, it hurt her sensitive ears. Junksword misting as frost glitters in the heat, she moves to join Ordyt and Ilor. As she swings, the shards of circuitboard making it up seem to shoot forwards, held together through cold air and arcane power, lengthening the blade. Ordyt feels it vwoom over his head with a brief cooling swing, before it shrinks back to its original shape and size behind him.

That's how I'm flavoring the reach ability I selected when I cast the spell. It's still a sword, just an extendible one! And I've decided yes to the elemental apprentice gimmick, so it was cast replacing the bludgeoning damage with cold, with the slashing staying in place.

"Aye!" Mari shouts back at Ordyt, charging after the big man. She stops just short of actually entering range for fisticuffs to carefully aim her oversized slugthrower at the big lizard.

With the beast flat-footed, Ordyt is able to rush in without provoking it's ire, but his jab glances off the thick underbelly. Flint evokes his plasma sheath while Bel delivers a frosty slash that causes the creature to rear up in pain. It seems the cold is especially effective.

Mari vaguely recognizes the beast as similar to one you might find in Castrovel, but clearly this one has been touched by the plane of fire in some fashion. She's not sure about what exactly it might be. Despite all the combat telemetry and aid from her allies, Mari's breaching blast misses the beast.

Jenan delivers a quick and precisely aimed jolt of negative energy to the creature's open maw. Ilor steps in and thrusts his plasma spear into one of the beast's massive legs, striking, but dealing minimal damage.

The beast strikes back lashing out with massive jaws, claws, and a glowing whip-like tail. Fiery jaws clamp down on Flint for a moment before he shakes himself free (18 dmg after resists) while the blurry, intensely vibrating claws slice past Bel's defenses (26 sonic dmg) and the burning tail lashes Ordyt (18 dmg after resists)

Flint moves up as he manifests his burning cold scimitar. It blends with his plasma sheath, then both coalesce into a deadly weapon as he swings it at the huge creature!

The fiery beast staggers back under the overwhelming assault, frosty attacks causing it's rivulets of fire to slow and crust over. It keens as all of your attacks hit, leaving it terribly injured. Although Jenan's attempt to finish it off with a burst from her pistol fails, Ilor manages to stab up at it's belly and carve a long, burning gash that proves just enough to finish it off! He scrambles out of the way as the beast collapses with a resounding crash!

A moment later a reedy thhhhwk echoes through the hangar as a flechette embeds itself embeds itself in Ordyt's leg (29 dmg). There's no sign of the source of the attack, but based on the angle it came from, you're likely being fired upon from quite a distance away, somewhere well beyond the opening of the hangar bay.

The oread limps on mechanical legs back around the corner, approaching the door there on a whim. "Do we want to try and move through the building? If that sniper has half a brain they'll be calling us in right now. We can't stay here."

Over comms, Popoko worriedly admits the ship's scanners aren't much good at identifying things not ship-sized. Nib chimes in on the same channel to say "That's not techie people for you, huh Tae? Flint, we've got visual footage of the outside of the ship, and some rough pings off the buildings nearby, but nothing accurate. Some noise up above though." Those of you looking out to the south through the hanger bay opening see nothing that betrays the sniper's location, though the angle of attack is fairly narrow and they must be directly south of you. When you all head around the corner, no further shots ring out, the sniper clearly waiting for a target.

As you look toward the downed silvery shuttle to the east, you see a shadow fall across it, the hole in the ceiling above it suddenly blocked by something big enough to hide the light of the sun beyond.

If you're within 15ft of the silver shuttle, you can see up through the opening in the roof:
You see the underside of some aerial transport, currently open, with a half-dozen armored troopers currently rappelling down on cable lines!

Alright, I'm back from my trip and will be back at the normal pace.

Mari and Ordyt ready themselves to greet whatever is coming from the hole in the roof. Ilor strides to join Ordyt, grunting in agreement as he spins his spear into a defensive stance. Jenan steps swiftly around the Breath of Embers until she can look up into the opening, then steps back to not be in the direct line of fire from whatever lies above. She readies her pistol, but if she found a target, she holds her fire.

As Flint speaks, six armored troopers rappel down through the opening in the roof on cable lines, rifles out. Ordyt's blast catches the blue one as he descends sending him spinning for a moment before he reaches the ground. All six troopers are decked out in armor uniform in appearance - black with brass and red accents that bears a crimson emblem of a six pointed star - military issue gear of some kind. Behind their visors you see the burning eyes and glowing beard of azers. They bear long rifles and grenades and mauls at their belts. They touch down atop the wreck of the silver shuttle and their cable lines automatically detach.

Atop the shuttle, they fire down at your group, thin streams of silvery nanites jetting toward you. Jenan is struck by one stream, which immediately starts dissolving her outer armor. Ordyt, Ilor and Bel each get hit, with Bel struck right in the center of her torso. (Ordyt takes 17 acid dmg, Bel takes a crit for 29 acid dmg) Other streams deflect off armor or splash against the ground.

(White and green Azers are on the ground. The remaining four can be assumed to be 10ft off the ground atop the downed shuttle)

"Back up the captain!" Ordyt roars, activating his own jetback in order to close with the injured azer atop the shuttle. As he slashes at the warrior with his bayonet, he glances up to check on the shuttle that delivered them.

I'm not in an ideal position for it at the moment, but my Coordinated Shot feat means any ally that has line of sight to a foe I'm flanking (without me granting that foe cover) gains a +1 bonus to ranged attack rolls against them.

"I hate it when we fight professionals," Mari mutters, dropping her breaching gun in favor of her zero rifle as she moves from cover to cover. Still, one nice thing about fighting professionals: unlike monsters or eldritch beings from beyond space, they tend to carry nice tech on them.

Flint rushes in with Sammad's aid and delivers a devastating strike upon the red azer before the fellow can even start to dodge. Ordyt strikes home as well, embedding the tip of his bayonet between armor plates. Mari's rapid hacking wreaks havoc through the heads up displays on all four azers she targets, distracting them. Sammad's shot against blue narrowly misses, and Bel's strike falls short of connecting, deflecting off trooper armor.

Jenan, already quite injured, takes a quick shot at red that strikes directly through the faceplate. Red screams in agony as the negative energy warps his flesh. He stumbles off the shuttle and lands at an awkward angle. Ilor rushes for the two azer on the ground, trying to keep them off balance so they can't deliver another volley of disintegrating shots.

Blue drops his rifle, draws his maul, and takes a heavy swing at Ordyt. Thanks to Mari's distraction, the blow just barely misses. Green and White do the same, taking swings at Ilor instead. Unfortunately he has less luck parrying the attacks and sustains two solid hits. He's looking a little bloodied. Pink and yellow fire at Flint and Jenan. A disintegrating jet hits Flint (dealing 14 acid dmg), while Jenan just barely manages to dodge the one aimed at her.

Barely dodging the heavy maul, Ordyt mentally ticks up his assessment of the azer soldiers by a few notches and dives in to stab his foe before they can recover their balance.
