This is the story of a time long ago, a time of myth and legend. The gods used to be petty and cruel plaguing mankind with suffering. However, that time has long passed. The gods themselves have grown out of their petty squabbles and feuds and have realized that they were wasting their gifts. The gods are far closer to politicians than the lords they were in the time of old but no less powerful. In fact the gods themselves now live on Earth in the Hall of Olympieion. The building is less of a temple and more like a government building. The campaign takes place on ancient earth and will mostly center around the country of Greece and its neighboring countries.
”Oy! Bugger me if we aren’t a sad lot! Two pointy eared singing freaks, and two crazy longuns: one a witch without a real pet, and the other a warrior without a real weapon. By the Trident, we’re certainly not the Argonauts, are we? Still, I wager we can sing a lusty shanty given a chance!”

Checking in - thanks for the selection DM Amazing Red - think this one will be a great game :)
Raising his kylix to the grumbling dwarf, the burly Polyοἶνος laughs heartily;
"Ho-ho-ho! Sad? Sad! Calm your seas my friend! There is no melancholy here! So come join and imbibe."
The Bacchanal beckons Varocles take a seat at the table crowded with jugs of wine, flasks of water and meze foods;
"A lusty shanty? Hah! Rest assured I have plenty... but perhaps first an ode to the mighty god you serve would placate your stormy temperament my friend!"
He chuckles, taking a hearty draught from his own cup - the wine spilling down his beard and soaking the colourful ribbons entwined therein, before he begins the verse - his voice a deep basso full of melody and intonation;
"About Poseidon the great god first I sing," "mover of the earth and the barren sea," "marine god, who possesses Helicon and broad Aegae." "In two parts, Earth-shaker, the gods assigned you your privilege:" "to be a tamer of horses, and saviour of ships." "I salute you, Poseidon, earth-rider, sable-hair." "Keep your heart well-disposed, blessed one, and assist those at sea."
Know we're using Greek = Common, but couldn't resist him "singing" in the original tongue. Hope you'll indulge me :)

”A fine song indeed! But do my ears deceive me? Has the dwarf said that I misplaced my weapon?” Feigning fright he looked around, held up his hand, and formed a trident. He tossed it to Varocles, though it vanished before it reached him. ”Alas! But shadows.”

"Actually, that reliance on stereotypes about our cultural practices is what keeps my people oppressed. But you probably didn't know about that. Anyway, I've been writing my own sorts of songs. Well, poems. Here, let me read a few of them to you. They may be a little long." Kyronai starts shuffling through crumpled scraps of paper.

Song is one adapted (and featured) in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, which I believe is set during the Peloponnesian War (I've not played it myself). An online scholar referenced the original poems and songs that inspired those in the game and I've earmarked them (and a bunch of others) for inclusion in our game :) Ancient Greek when singing just made sense (and looks more immersive).
Your interactions are all fantastic. The gameplay intro is up and as it says there, things are a bit sandboxy so I need you guys to drive the story for a bit. Also warning, anachronisms inbound.
Indeed, if I had the powers that Poseidon has granted Varocles, I'd do my best to keep you safe myself. I've got family in Florida and the Carolinas, so we'll be praying for all of you.
Virginia here, so we likely won't get the bad winds, just dumpsters of rain!

Quick question DM Amazing Red: I'd mulled taking Raging Grappler for Polyoinos' Rage Power - but was not sure how it would interact with your Grappling House Rule?
Raging Grappler: As long as you are raging, whenever you succeed at a check to start a grapple, you can choose to deal damage as if you had also succeeded at a check to maintain the grapple. In addition, while raging, whenever you succeed at a combat manoeuvre check to maintain a grapple, you can choose to give yourself, the target of your grapple, or both the prone condition as a free action while continuing to maintain the grapple.
Grappling House Rule: Grappling Attacking while in a grapple is a standard action. Breaking a pin only reverts the target to being grappled. It requires another grapple check to break free.
Ideally I'd take this power in lieu of Good For What Ails You as it gives Polyoinos an additional attack but wanted to check if it still "works" as written?

How close was Kyronai to beating Lobo?
You did about half his hp in damage.
Bleah. I should have used more spells, but I didn't know how many rounds there would be, and I didn't want to use them all up and then not have any when I faced stronger opponents.
Championship Belt: The "Big Gold Belt" has a giant gold plate on the front with a carving of Greece etched onto it along with 2 matching side plates with the winner's name also carved on it. When worn in the belt slot or alternatively over the shoulder in the back slot, this belt gives the wearer a +1 sacred bonus on str-based skill checks, strength checks, and cha-based skill checks and charisma checks. The belt may hide some other powers that may be unlocked later on.

Given the timezone difference (believe you guys are all in the US, while i'm in the UK) I'm chiming in where I can - hope Polyoinos' comments and japes aren't coming across as frivolous or derailing - much easier for me to post something like that up quick and in-line with the flow of thought that you lot are running with :)
