Eventually (By the 2nd) We'll need everybody with a completed character, including an alias with their character sheet, or at least a link to their character sheet.
I am happy to help with any character creation questions and your fellow players may be of help as well.
Some helpful pbp stuffs:
Use the classes/levels section of your profile (or multiple lines if needed) to create a header that includes things like HP, Defenses, Perception so that I can see them at a glance when needed without having to dig into your profile.
Initiative tends to be a little more fluid.
Horrible Pie Monster
Player's 1,2,3 should take their actions in whatever order they happen to post, since they could delay and rearrange themselves anyway. If you're waiting for somebody else to do something, like the fighter moving into flank or the bard inspiring courage and it's reasonably likely to happen feel free to write your post as such.
ex: Stabby Face waits for the barbarian to move into melee before moving in, stabbing the zombie and moving away.
stabby vs flatfooted: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
damage+sneak attack: 1d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (1) = 6
If the barbarian doesn't engage or manages to kill the zombie I'll attack the necromancer without sneak attack
If things change dramatically or your turn otherwise wouldn't make sense by your turn I'm happy to have you just make a new post, no need to punish you for playing in a way to help keep the game moving
Especially since 2e is new please include a note in your posts any feats/powers etc you're using, as well as a brief summary of your actions in combat.
Freddie Falchion charges into melee hacking at the blue goblin twice.
swing: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
slashing damage: 1d40 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
swing 2: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 5 = 24
slashing damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Using sudden charge to stride twice and strike as 2 actions, then striking against with +1 damage from forceful.
The "tagline code" here is a common template, which I'll be using. (Though it needs a little adjustment for 2e.)
I'm finalizing my new character.
Had a PFS specific sort of question. Since this would be the first PFS I'd done. Does it typically expect you to have a fair bit of extra change?
(Debating picking up a hand xbow, incase I need further ranget than I currently have. Which would knock my change down to 1gold 5silver. Alchemist's are expensive thanks to the required tool kit. Well only required if I want to use quick alchemy I guess. Could just buy it in the future. As it is a common item)
also to confirm. Backgrounds can only be from "core" unless you own other suppliments (or do they have to be p layed already not just owned?
https://2e.aonprd.com/Backgrounds.aspx?ID=40 was one i was considering. but I don't own Fall of Plague stone yet. So for PFS thats a no go if I understand correctly?)
At the moment only the backgrounds from the Core Rule book are legal. (There are also a few "Legacy" backgrounds available in the Guide to Organized Play if you played enough PFS1)
Pathfinder Society Adventures rarely require money to spent during them although occasionally it's nicer to have a few coins to stay at an inn or buy some pastries from that lovely little halfling vendor you're trying to chat up. That said, 1.5gp is plenty of cash on hand for a 1st level adventurer.
Speaking of Pathfinder Society...
Here is a link to a reasonably nicely formatted version of the Guide to Organized Play.
You are in no way required to read the whole thing before playing but reading about factions and training (special Pathfinder Society character creation options) on Pages 12-14 will likely be helpful in creating your character.
Another useful tidbit
You may find that there are aspects of your character where you’re not entirely sure about your decisions, such as the ancestry or class feat you chose. Don’t worry! While your character is 1st level, you can rebuild as often as you need to, changing any of these choices. Until you play a game in which your character has 12 or more XP, you can freely rebuild your character completely...
Oh that quick formated guide was really rather nice. The other one I was using had a lot of extra content, that kind of made it hard to figure out.
In theory this is my character's profile (assuming I set things up right)
I'm figuring out that format for character info that other's have. So that'll probably be for tomorrow. (also a picture)
I did add the Mythweaver link to my "off site" backup for myself.
Looks nice, I really enjoy seeing what other people have built in PF2 so far so I took a quick peek and saw a couple things that seemed off, I could be wrong, probably worth taking a second look at though.
Ability Scores: I think humans get 9 ability boosts. 2 Ancestry, 2 Background, 1 Class, 4 Free, it looks like you've got 10.
Trained Skills: I think you should have 2 from background, crafting +3 from class and 4 more from int = 10. Looks like you only have 9.
AC, note the buckler gives the AC only when you take the Raise Shield Action.
The adventurer's pack has been noted to be 1 bulk rather than the 2 listed in the book. (If you add all the items up in it you get to 1 as well)
Finally you still have the faction and Pathfinder Training you get to pick up.
Thanks for the notes!
On the skills. My background (craft and lore engineer) gives me the same skill as my class itself (craft). But I like that background
Ah Yep, I screwed up the ability score. I had changed from one background to another. I objectively should ditch the 18Int. But I wanna see how that goes.
Oh was the pack 1 bulk not 2? That.. helps a lot actually. (More so because I now have 12 str)
Yeah, I should have 17 AC when I'm normal 18 with the buckler raised (Which I have noted in the data thingy I"m trying to format for the character description.)
I believe I chose the archive faction. (I do not believe I get anything yet...). I think I'll go for the Non-Training school associated. Extra Downtime might be nice for the future--Also I actually can't afford to carry much more for the free item(s).
Hm. I wanted to use shuriken to keep my hands open, use some poisons, and use them for Aid Action attempts. (because Aid sounds so interesting)
But doesn't work well at lv 1.
Well, we have some time before it becomes an offical played character. I'll spend a day or two, while I learn the formatting methods.
Might just switch out the background to a less in character one for Heavy Hauler (Alch Bulk ~) Still fairly in character to my idea. Instead of helping with research at the lodge, he was the one who carried stuff around for folks~ Also nets me an extra skill. and switch to hand Xbow (and pick up shuriken at lv 3). With the Cooperative Nature. Might actually not be a horrible risk to attempt Aid rolls for Skills or for Attack. (Better if I figured out a way to do attack rolls with a skill, depending on the situation. To avoid the reload issues (which is why I wanted shuriken)
Thanks kindly for working with me so far!
Yup, changed my mind again. Going to bring an Archer Fighter. A very charismatic Fighter.
Will get him in a profile soon(TM).
If your class would make you trained in a skill you’re already trained in (typically due to your background), you can select another skill to become trained in.
Ya the pack is 1 bulk, I tried making characters when it was 2 and really struggled to carry things.
Not having read Lost Omens yet, but trying to guess based on peeking at the sheet, I'm guessing the option is an Elf ancestry that unlocks a multiclass archetype at level 1?
As a note I'll be largely out of contact over Labor Day weekend
Is the Freed Slave of Absalom background trait available, if Lost Omens traits are available?
Right, then. Hmmmm....choosing between two Backgrounds. Working on my character - now with a profile!
Pirate GM wrote:Not having read Lost Omens yet, but trying to guess based on peeking at the sheet, I'm guessing the option is an Elf ancestry that unlocks a multiclass archetype at level 1?Yup! It's a heritage an elf can have. Only reason I know is there was a preview about it somewhere.
Huh. Well its kind of awesome to see a good not human thing.Half-Elves are becoming quite a good choice. Which is great. I adore half elves but in p1 it was so bothersome to make anthing work before lv 4 or 6. This makes me pretty happy.
(GM Andrew here)
Gorwinel has been created!
Gotta switch over my character to the alternate. I got confused... the new heritages are in the Lost Omens Character Guide, not the Lost Omens World Guide. Will switch over before we start.
Where is the Lost Omens Character Guide?
Is it legal?
Ah, it's not for release until October.
*sigh* Oh well....
Orla has been created, BTW!
Hokay.. I think I got the formating thing to work correctly.
I did have a question. How does the "tagline" section work?
I see from the posts above that they somehow put it under their name?
I can not seem to quite figure out how people are adding that subheader... I'll google around a bit, but if anyone happens to have a quick explaination I would appreciate it.
For now I added it the whole line to "level/class" box in the edit profile area to see if it'll show up
Is the PFS number suppose to be mine, or the characters number, or should i have both somewhere?
Character is done. With the exception of the "bot me" section (also have not uploaded the short backstory-though I'm not sure that is required or how much detail yet).
I ended up lowering Int to get a bit more Str. Switched from shuriken to crossbow as well for now.
Believe its all good now.
Do we need to announce what boons we have slotted in this thread, or should we just note them on our character sheets?
(Losseyel's only going to be able to slot Faction Champion since this is her first adventure, obviously, but it would be good to know for the future.)
I don't have this game showing up in my PbP games yet because there's no Gameplay thread as of yet.
Could we please have the Gameplay thread hooked up, GM? I often use a few roleplaying posts as a means of figuring out my character.
Tad confused on the most recent post.
Engineering lore is one of the ones listed in the CRB, so not esoteric enough to interest Kreighton Shane. All the lore skills that backgrounds from the CRB give are listed. So you either need lore from a legacy background or have chosen to be trained in a Lore not from the list as one of your skills.
I thought Shane was working on a puzzle? Or is the puzzle just completely unrelated to anything physical and is a history sort of puzzle.?(Just slightly confused on "not esoteric enough to interest Shane." I was trying to talk to him via the puzzle.. not like randomly make up a puzzle. or bring up a mystery for him to solve. Or was I misunderstanding that he was seeking help with a puzzle from Barun.)
Defaulting to Society or having him ignore Zazz is fine.
Speaking of Kreighton Shaine, I need to get my school items.
Since I have 3 points into spells since I was planning on making this guy a bard eventually...
Scroll of Heal (Spell Level: 1) (x2) (Hand both of them off to Orla)
As a notation. I edited my Reagents in my tagline. I realized it was incorrect. Was liste 4/5 per day. I changed it to 3/4.
I originally had 4/5 because I had higher intellegence. Because I saw somewhere that Alch Tools were mislabled as 2 but were meant as 1. Just like the adventurer pack.
But I could not find that statement again so I put 14 str 16 int instead of 12/18 respectively. I regret that.
I think I will switch those back before I level up. But I believe I can NOT do that mid game correct? Only after the Game-before lv 2. Yes?
18int would've been the better choice once once I found out the Adventure Pack was 1bulk not 2.
Cool beans I'll see how it goes and possibly alter~ Thanks!
...Hrm also I might've accidently cheated. I thought you could spend 30mins to do adv Alchemy anytime in the day. But it might be 1/day only. Also it might inert the 2 elixirs I had assumed I would've made when I woke up that morning. (Game started in the meeting so I guess I did not make an ingame choice yet)
Should I pretend I hadn't done Daily Preperation before the meeting? (thereby making items for allies and keeping the Elixir I made).
or should I go with my assumed morning prep (2 elixir) and then just use quick alchemy for the rest of the day (i.e. no pepared items for the team. Outside of quick alchemy anyway)
(Made a rules forum question about the Daily Preperation for now in anycase. But will assume 1/day when you wake up from now on)
I admit to not having read the alchemist class beyond a cursory skim. It looks like you do all your advanced alchemy as part of your 1/day "morning" prep.
No need to make your life difficult.
Feel free to fill out however many of your remaining slots you want with advanced alchemy batches if you like, as though you had made them all this morning.
Cool beans. Thanks!
4 total reagents.
1= 2 elixir of lesser healing. (not great healing but I couldn't afford a med kit)
1= 2 antiplagues
1= 2 antivenom.s
1= 2 Eagle Eye Elixir.
Zazz will have taken 1 of the AntiPlagues in the morning (as they last 24 hours). Will take the antivenom later when we set out. Will hand out goodies.
Didn't opt for bombs today, resources pretty limited. Better to contribute outside of combat longer, and rely on weapons for combat.
