At the realization that the hall is on fire, Revka lets out a high-pitched howl. She mutters something to herself, in Goblin. "ఇది నాకు తెలుసు నాకు తెలుసు"

Translation:
IknewitIknewIknewit...

She shakes her head in an attempt to recompose herself, then decides what to do. The children might be scared if I join Darla. Instead, she follows Aronida's example. She hustles in between the row of chairs to the exit on her right. She spots Neven and doesn't waste time to wait and see how he'll react. "If you want to show that you earned the medal, you'd better help out! Get Gellius up on his feet and on the stage!"

Stride three time (to O15).

Revka hurries to open the other door for the crowd to evacuate.

The council, with their backs to the doors, was slower to react, but once they turn to see the flames, they spring into action.

"Fire!" Greta repeats. "Evacuate the rotunda! Sound the alarm! Alert the populace! Form a bucket brigade!"

She speaks over a rising tide of panic from the crowd. Most of the citizens have the good sense to obey her instructions, but some are elderly and infirm. Worse, some are the mothers of the children on stage and rush forward toward their offspring rather than back toward the exits, obstructing the way of those attempting to evacuate. A few more excitable souls swoon or collapse into hysterics. The performers burst into shrieks of terror.

Revka wrote:

Deckard stops gaping and gives the goblin a resentful glare. "I'll get the kids; you get clear of here and help bring the water!" Ignoring Gellius, he strides to the stage and makes the leap Gellius failed, gripping the edge tightly and pulling himself up with a ripple of lats.

The flames travel lick down the wooden stairs in front of Gethric and onto the vertical wall of the wooden stage. The floor of the rotunda is stone, so the structure itself seems safe, but the furniture and rugs may catch; the smoke rising toward the scenes of Lamond Breachton and the town's founding will pose the greater danger to anyone who remains in the room too long.

Panicked spectators, including the children, will require PCs to expend actions to direct them; for instance, Darla will have to use an action to instruct a child to hang over the edge and drop into her arms, another action to catch the child, etc. Similarly, it will take two actions to a) get the attention of a panicking spectator within 50 feet and b) persuade them to evacuate.

Deckard is the avatar in G8. The pink triangle indicates someone who is on the elevated stage (right now, Deckard and 5 children). The blue circle indicates prone (Gellius). Interact x3 - seeking to mobilise the villagers closest to him away from the fire, so hopefully he can take actions to forestall / remove potential fuel sources next round.

Storing the memory of fading footsteps for later reference, Gethric focuses on the task at hand. Spinning on his heel he puts calm in his voice and urges those of able body to motion "Calm and together, lets get our people safe. Don't forget, Lamond is watching" gesturing at the painted ceiling "lets make him proud."

The nearest man squares his jaw and gives the halfling a nod. "Come on, now, you heard the fellow," he encourages a panicked citizen who has tripped over the chairs, helping him up from the floor. "Let's get out and join the bucket brigade; that's the best way to help."

"Get the ladder or rolling stairs or whatever folks use to get up onstage!" Darla orders the custodian in an urgent tone. Then she tells the nearest child to come toward her and drop over the edge, saying she'll catch him/her.

That should be Darla's three actions for this round: 2 Barking Orders, 1 Catch a Child.

With the doors open and gardeners bringing water, Aronida looks back inside to see how things are going. On the bright side, most of the spectators are moving towards the doors, although she can see a few that seem to be frozen in fear. Unfortunately the fire is spreading and all but one of the children are still on stage.

Darla's there. So are Gellius, Gethric, and Deckard. They'll evacuate the children. What can I do?

Her eyes fixate on the eerily quiet stairs. Why hasn't anyone come down yet? What's going on up there?

She climbs up the staircase.

If panicked spectators are present:
Aronida makes her way to the nearest panicked person she sees. "Come on now, you need to get out of here!"

Actions: Stride twice to somewhere upstairs, Direct spectator

If panicked spectators are not present:
Aronida pokes her head up the staircase, only to see no one there. Oh. That's why no one's come down. Feeling foolish for wasting so much time, she runs back down and ends up behind a young man who's still sitting in the chair. "Come on, you have to get out of here!"

Actions: Stride twice to O7, Direct spectator

Darla instructs the custodian to fetch the ladder for the stage but doesn't wait for it to arrive, instead calling to the nearest child to jump into her arms.

Aronida runs up the stairs to check the gallery.

Aronida:
The seating upstairs appears to be largely unoccupied, except for a group of boys about the age of the performers on stage, who, seemingly oblivious to the danger, are gawking over the edge of the railing at the excitement below.

Kicking away the chair he tripped over, Gellius climbs to his feet at the base of the stage. Recognising the climb is beyond him, he lifts his arms and calls to the children still trapped on the rotunda, trying to get through the sounds of the fire and the cries of the crowd. Gesturing for them to come over to him, he begins to help them down.

Quickly, children! To this side of the stage!” he calls. “Everyone has to get outside!

That’s one action to stand, a second to instruct the nearest child and a third to catch them and help them down.

Gellius gets to his feet and helps down another child.

Though the children won't technically move until their initiative, I've marked the two Darla and Gellius have interacted with as rescued just so we keep up with how many are left un-interacted-with.

Revka blushes at Deckard's reaction. That wasn't very nice of me. I could have waited to see what he would do of his own. Maybe I should apologize to him later.

Revka takes a quick peek outside once the door is open. I hope the rest of the town isn't on fire yet! She ushers the townsfolk out and then ducks back into the rotunda to round up the people to scared to leave their seat. She first spots a woman in purple. "Hello, Miss," she tries at her friendliest. "I know it's really scary here, but a bit of fresh air might do you go. The exit is just over there." She points and grins, keeping her teeth covered this time.

Stride to L15, use two actions to interact with the woman at L16.

Revka pushes through the evacuating crowd to encourage a citizen to flee.

Most of the spectators stream out the exit doors, hopefully to join the bucket brigade and deliver some water. Only those who had been seated farthest from the exits have just now reached the doors.

The children that Darla and Gellius have just lifted down cling desperately to their rescuers, crying. Three parents converge on the stage, calling out for their own children to be rescued.

Neven Deckard snatches up the child nearest the encroaching fire and carries her away from the danger. "Here, is this one yours?" he dangles her down toward the nearest parent, who instead cries, "No, no, the boy!" He points but doesn't take the girl from Deckard's hands.

The council, seeing that the crowd has mostly evacuated, begins to move themselves. "I'll see the alarm is sounded," Quentino Posandi volunteers, heading down the aisle.

Greta nods. "Melma Ann, go outside and direct the bucket brigade. Jorsk, would you go back into the storage area to see if anyone's trapped back there? Trini, go outside and around to the other doors and make sure the rest of the building is evacuated. I'll stay until the rotunda is clear."

The fire continues to crawl up the stage and envelops one of the braziers. The heat is getting uncomfortable for Gethric so near the flames.

Male Halfling Rogue 2 (Thief) 26/26 HP

Gethric is considering grabbing the brazier that's become lit and tipping it over away from the raised stage to buy some time - either that or hefting back some of the floor coverings.
Is that an action that's likely to impact on the fire spread? - if (in his opinion) it won't then he'll focus on panic mongers instead.

Gethric's Round 3:
Interact x 3

The heat rising from the wall is still yet a cool breeze to Gethric, having slaved away in from of a baking hearth for most of his formative years. He implores the nearest villager "Come now, quick and away" before turning his attention to the flammables nearest the fire. Hauling away at the floor coverings he seeks to forestall the rapidity of the fire's spread.

I think Gethric had an Interact saved up from Round 2 - so should be able to 'rescue' a villager and then spend two x interacts on hauling back the rugs

Gethric convinces the nearest woman that her child is in the process of being rescued and that she can meet her outside. Grabbing the edge of the rug, he doubles it over on itself, tugging it up the aisle away from the flames.

Darla takes the child that Deckard lowers and lowers him/her to the floor, telling one of the concerned parents to hold on to the kiddo. Figuring Gellius can get the child furthest west (and closest to the flames), the bard calls out gently for the youngster at the back of the stage to come to the edge where she can catch them and take them to safety.

I believe that's three interacts with a free talking action thrown in.

Aronida curses at the sight of the gawking children. Running over to them as fast as she can, she calls, "You need to get out of here! Head downstairs and get out of the building!"

I believe it will take three stride actions to get over to the children, so I won't technically be able to interact with them until next turn.

Darla takes the girl Deckard is lowering over the edge of the stage, then calls to another child to lift down.

Aronida hurries toward the rubbernecking boys and tries to persuade them to evacuate. "The fire's down there," one boy points out, oblivious of the danger posed by smoke. "We're safe up here."

Aronida Strides, Requests: Diplomacy 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 & ...

Aronida, the boys require a different approach: to be within 50 feet and use Diplomacy to persuade them en masse. The Diplomacy I rolled for you isn't high enough; but the failure effect doesn't say you can't try again, and it's a single action so I think you could roll a second check with your final action of the round. Alternatively, you could use your Hero Point to reroll the check and have an action left.

Female CG Halfling Ranger 2 | HP: 28/28 | AC: 19 | Fort +7, Ref +10, Will +5 | Perception +7 | Low-Light Vision | Speed 25 ft. | Hero Point 0/1

Aronida shakes her head in frustration. "Forget the fire, there's smoke that will rise and start suffocating you any second. Get out of here and help with the bucket brigade!"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

The soundness of Aronida's reasoning, combined with the inducement of being a part of a bucket brigade, proves irresistible to the boys.

Gellius reaches up to pull the final child from the rotunda, guiding them towards the far aisle. Looking around, he sees the entry backstage. I wonder if there’s blankets or sacks or something behind there? Maybe something I can throw over the flames. Having seen the child to safety, he pushes through the crowd around the stage towards the steps.

Two interact actions to call and then rescue the child in G9. One stride action taking me to F11 maybe? (F12 if that person is moving out of the way?)

I’ve kind of assumed I can help the child down and then move, even though they haven’t had their action yet. As an alternative if you’d rather I stay there, I’ll help Gethric move fuel away from the stage throwing the chair in H9 over the council table instead.

Gellius lifts down the last child, handing her to her mother, then picks up the chair he fell over to prevent it from becoming kindling.

Revka is somewhat intrigued by all the effort to save the children on the stage. If they're so worried about the safety of their babies, I guess they should have had more? She catches herself thinking that Longshanks society is very different. Or maybe they don't have as many, and that's why they're so protective of them...

There's enough people around the stage already, so she takes it upon herself to shepherd the others out. There's three panicked people to her left, and one to her right. She doesn't know how to pick either way, so she goes to the left where more people are. "Hurry now, Miss. You don't want to be left here alone. All the others have already gone outside."

Stride to N12, then use two Interact actions on the person at O11.

Revka finds a trembling woman on the back row and persuades her to evacuate.

The dwarf pushes his way through the crowd and disappears into the corridor behind the rotunda, searching for anyone trapped in the rest of the building.

Exasperatingly, the reunited parents and children seem prone to embracing in tears at the foot of the stage instead of fleeing to safety.

There is a shout from the back of the rotunda. "Water! Water!" The first buckets from the hastily-formed brigade have arrived.

Neven Deckard looks for a safe place to leap down, where he won't crush a family reunion. "Move!" he shouts at Darla. "Or at least duck!"

Behind him, the fire catches at the thick golden rug and begins to crawl across the stage. The air in the room is getting thick with smoke.

Seeing the boys start moving downstairs, Aronida runs after them. No one else is up here gotta help the people downstairs! As she makes her way down the staircase though, she sees the buckets and makes a beeline for them instead. "Buckets! We can douse the fire!"

Not entirely sure because of how Aronida's last turn went, but I *think* she can get to O3 in two Strides, then Interact to grab a bucket. If the Interact is only to douse and grabbing the bucket is a free action, she'll start moving towards the fire with her last action and end up in L7.

Darla points out to the nearest reunited family that they're not safe yet before heading toward the back row, coughing as she goes.

As soon as she is out of the way, Neven Deckard leaps down into the space she vacated. His ankle rolls painfully under him as he lands and stumbles to the floor. "Get out of here, kid," he growls at the panicking child staring into his face. "Go!"

Revka shouts directions to the man at the end of the row, who seems disoriented by the smoke and excitement, then heads for the buckets, coughing.

A few stragglers stumble out the doors. A father near the stage picks up his screaming child and carries him out.

"Mrs. Gare," Greta Gardania shouts at a woman holding her daughter at the foot of the stage, "pull yourself together and get Cece out of here!" The woman gathers up her daughter and runs.

Jorsk Hinterclaw re-emerges from the smoky corridor, the custodian in tow. "See, I told you," he shouts. "The kids are all down. Now get out of here! Go!" He grabs another squalling child as he heads for the exits. Greta moves partway up the aisle but is still looking around for citizens who need to be evacuated.

The fire sweeps across the drum of the stage, swallowing the braziers entirely, as the wool and dyes of the rug emit choking black smoke.

The rug is actually printed on the map so I can't easily move it back. :\ We'll just remember that the left-aisle rug is folded back into I8.

There are only two spectators left to evacuate.

Buckets of water are available for anyone who wants to fetch them in O3 & O17. Each full bucket will douse one 10 x 10 area of fire, if thrown with an Interact action from an adjacent square.

Smoke is now a hazard. Using an Interact action to dip a handkerchief or strip or cloth in water and tie it over your nose and mouth will halve the damage. Exiting the rotunda for a breath of fresh air will prevent any damage that round. You can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to 5 + your Constitution modifier, but then you have to be adjacent to a panicking spectator to direct them to evacuate.

Gethric Round 5: 1st round holding breath
Step, Interact to grab bucket, stride to J,6

Starting to feel the smoke sting his eyes and strain his throat, Gethric takes in a big breath of foul air and holds it... breathing out but slowly through his nose. Feeling the rotunda starting to clear of those not ably engaged he reaches for a bucket and hauls back t'wards the flames.

Not breathing, Gethric grabs a full bucket and heads toward the flames.

Darla closes on the last spectator (trusting Neven to lead the other to safety), saying, "Come on! Got to get out before the smoke *Cough!* gets us! Hold your breath if you can!" She tries to help the person along (hopefully ending her second Stride at or around L15).

Stride/Interact/Stride. Will start holding her breath next round.

The elderly woman in the back row is near overcome by the smoke, but Darla gets her up and moving.

"Your kid's out!" Deckard shouts at the final parent. "Follow the dwarf!" He rolls away from the burning stage.

Evacuating a spectator takes 2 Interact actions, so you only get one Stride, Darla. I put you in J19, where you're moving over open floorspace, but you could also end in H16 going through the aisle. Let me know if you'd prefer to be in that square.

Aronida takes one last deep breath of the slightly-less-foul air by the door before rushing back in. All the spectators are on their way out, have to douse this fire!

She runs to the stage and tosses her bucket of water over the flames.

Stride twice to H7, then Interact to douse the flames on F8, F9, G8, and G9. Aronida will also be holding her breath after this round.

Aronida dashes up the aisle with a bucket of water and throws it at the stage. With a crackle and a hiss, the flames in the doused area are extinguished.

We are,” nods Gellius. “The fire looks bad, but there’s enough of us here we should be able to get it under control. How about you head to the front of the stage? I’ll aim at the back. If you don’t want to get too close to the flames just bring some buckets halfway down the aisle and I can take them from there.

Grabbing the bucket, he lowers the handkerchief down over his face once more and hurries to the back of the rotunda, backing away from the heat before preparing to hurl a load of water into the far corner of the stage.

Interact action to take a bucket, two strides to get to H12 and then finish up at G13.

Revka looks quite pleased with the fact that all of the panicked people are clear or the building, but she's worried about the others who are still fighting the fire inside. It's just a building. Why are they still trying? She's quite scared to go near the fire, but she's not about to bail. That wouldn't really make a good impression!

She steps to person who's putting down buckets and grabs one of them, taking the opportunity to grab a gulp of fresh air. She's noticed some of the others holding their breath, and does likewise.

She then grabs a bucket of water and hustles down the aisle, going as far as she dares and staring at the roaring fire on the stage. She can't call out to Gellius while holding her breath, but mumbles to get his attention and then points at her bucket of water.

Step to O16, take a breath of fresh air and grab a bucket. Then move to K13. Revka will hand over her bucket to anyone who wants to take it.

Revka seizes a bucket and carries it nearer the conflagration.

Greta Gardania is the last of the civilians to exit the rotunda, leaving only the party members, Neven Deckard, and the bucket brigade.

Sparks leap from the burning stage to the council members' abandoned chairs, which begin to burn.

Eyes watering with smoke and sweat, Gethric silently moves to the flame and seeks to act as the harbinger of extinguishment. The water from his pail sails in a majestic arc before plunging into the flame, sizzling as the heat of the flames is cut off at their source. Not pausing to admire his handiwork, the halfling turns tail and jogs back for more ammunition.

Darla begins holding her breath and moves to the exit, grabbing a bucket of water there before heading back toward the stage.

Stride/Interect/Stride; I believe this puts Darla in the square north of Revka.

Stride twice to O3, then Interact to grab a bucket.
