Nonalwe

Grateful to have social pleasantries out of the way, Nonalwe hurries to head down into the cellar with the others. She raises an eyebrow at the dangerous flooring though. Now this? Can't even keep your facilities in repair? What kind of organization is this; what have I gotten myself into?
Still, she approaches the plank and prepares to accept that this indeed is the task at hand.
Assuming an Acrobatics check is called for here?
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

"Ah, now at least here's some action! Something worthy of the Mad Cow of Macridi! Some danger!" He laughs a little, takes a running start and tries to leap over the plank entirely.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Nonalwe trivially walks across the broad wooden plank while Wesley just hops the small gap. No acrobatics required unless you're crossing like Wesley :-p

Despite Gali's light tread, the board groans, cracks, and sends him tumbling into the crevasse!
"Oh! Oh no! G-Gali? That was his name, right? You okay down there Gali?" Heryn's voice is a bit shaky, clearly showing her surprise.
She reaches down to about where Gali can reach, and helps to haul him back out to the appropriate side.
"Well! I'll certainly be replacing that!"
Since no one has a -6 to Acrobatics, I'll assume everyone else takes 10 to get across with a quick hop, so...
The cellar chamber where the Wisp keeps their supply of specialty wines is well laid out, so it doesn't take long to find Dreng's bottle. However, when you remove it there is a sudden *click*, and the wine rack slides back into a short stone tunnel leading to a hidden room!
A sturdy silver chain jutting from the ceiling ends in a glowing orb that radiates yellow light across the rectangular room. A simple desk of polished wood, stacked with documents and scattered notes, shelters a pair of wooden chests against the south wall. A series of cracks along the eastern and western walls form makeshift entrances into exposed caverns.
What do you do?
Wesley Hoggins
|
"Ah hah! Drang wouldn't dare waste the talents of the Mad Cow of Maridi just for some crushed old grapes. I knew there must be more afoot! Come, follow me into the hidden room!"
Wesley takes a moment and suddenly becomes more boar-like. His feet turn into cloven hooves and his leg contorts wildly. He's suddenly much more quick and agile.
getting a +10 bonus to his land speed. He rushes into the new room heedlessly.

From down the narrow tunnels leading from the room, you hear soft sounds of chittering legs and mandibles. Your keen ears keep you from being entirely surprised, but they still burst out of the tunnels faster than you would imagine - a pair of giant spiders the size of ponies!
Carlin's thick armor proves itself to be proof against one spider's fangs, but Nonalwe is caught off guard and feels the other's fangs pierce deep into her side!

Moyen has Darkvision
In answer to Gali's question -
Spiders! Big Spiders!
Moyen does the following based upon the tactical situation.
If there is room to maneuver for the sneak attack I do that with my dagger.
melee: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (1) + 1 = 3
If there is room to jab a spider I use my rapier.
melee: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
If there is no room with a melee weapon, I shoot one with my bow.
range: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d6 ⇒ 5
| GM Cwethan |
Moyen's strikes are hampered by the tight quarters, but there's just enough room around one of the corners for his rapier to dig a small divot into one spider's thorax.
The spider Wesley struck chitters and attempts to return the favor, while the other one pounces for Koruda, but with both adventurers prepared for such attacks, neither spider is able to break through their defenses, each bite being only met by rigid steel and scales.
Bite @ Wesley: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Bite @ Koruda: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
I'm happy to deal your movement this time Moyen, but you should also be able to take care of positioning questions like that using the 'SLIDES' link at the top of the page. Since you're currently adjacent to a spider, but unable to move into a flank without potentially provoking, I'll go with your rapier. Also, do you mean low-light vision? Typically elves don't have darkvision, and I didn't notice anything in your sheet that would grant you darkvision.

The spider's poison continues to work it's painful way through Nonalwe's veins; the elf steps back again, putting more distance between her and the spider. She wings her sword at the creature in a hearty two-handed swing; the bulk of her strength remains and shows itself in the powerful throw before the sword instantly reappears in her hand.

Quick question Nonalwe, my understanding of the Hand of the Apprentice ability is that the damage is treated like it's a thrown weapon, but it looks like you added the 1.5 Str bonus for using your blade in melee. Is there anything I missed there?

Now that there are no hideous vermin trying to poison and eat you, examining the papers on the desk is a simpler task.
They seem to Chronicle the personal exploits of a man named Selmius Foster...
There are all sorts of notes of his adventures - many of which seem almost too far fetched to be believed! They're far from finished, but are apparently designed so that they can be polished for publication later. However, you also discover evidence of an investigation that he appears not to have completed before he died!
