To clarify, I'm hoping to run part 2 then part 3 after this game for anyone that wants to continue the series. Don't signup for all three games in the spreadsheet with the same character as those games are all running at the same time and are for players that weren't able to complete the series previously.
Khargrom Shadowband |
Dotted in and looking forward to playing this in Core. Khargrom will be lvl 3 for parts 1 & 2 and then hit lvl 4 for part 3, which should work out pretty well I think. Thanks for running the whole series!
Shukara Melkamnet |
Dotted in! looking forward to this! :)
Belayneh |
Dot! I'm sure we'll have a great time together!
GM Scott |
I think Bossk will be the one. For part three don't you need to be 4th level?
Part 3 is levels 3-7 but you can always play a pregen and apply it to your character later if you like. The downside is that you really should play all three parts on the same character so that you can get the fun Mythic abilities in part 3. But you still get some mythic stuff in part 3 even if you use a pregen or other character. You really want at least 4 XP to start this so that you hit level 3 right before part 3.
GM Scott |
Check my dice block numbers for your character to be sure I didn't miss anything.
Anthony: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11 (missing)
Bossk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Ephram: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Khargrom: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Ray: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Shukara: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Anthony: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1 (missing)
Bossk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 (darkvision, scent when raging)
Ephram: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Khargrom: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 (+1 traps, +2 stonework, +3 stonetraps)
Ray: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Shukara: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 (darkvision)
Anthony you need to get your character setup soon. (assuming a level 1)
Khargrom your bot me stats looked out of date compared to these. Also I don't see darkvision on your character sheet, did you give it up for something?
Nobody else has a bot me section, but no worries, I will just delay you if you don't post.
character levels: 1 + 4 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 12 / 6 APL: 2 = 2 currently Low tier
Khargrom Shadowband |
Fixed the bot stuff, thanks! And yeah, he has darkvision (added it to his header).

I received a GM notice that we need to postpone for two weeks.
I have some unfortunate news. I regret to inform you all that we will have to postpone Gameday VIII by 2 weeks. This would place our new dates for Gameday at: 09 Sept 2019 - 17 Nov 2019
Sorry if this screws up anyone's planning, let me know if you have any problems with this. For me it is kind of good because I'm going to ReaperCon next week and it is one less thing to worry about while I'm painting minis and maybe drinking too much beer.
Continue the introductions in the gameplay thread and we'll be ready to start the box text encounter in two weeks.
Khargrom Shadowband |
Doesn't effect me.
GM Scott |
I didn't think archetypes were Core, is Ouat an exception?
You are correct that Monk Ouat is not CORE and neither is the Dwarf Ouat caste.
@Shukara Being as you are still level 1, you have a really quick chance to rework your character back to a level 1 CORE compliant character if you want to continue in this game.
@Everyone else I'll have a look at everyone's characters and see if anything non-core pops out. I still haven't seen Anthony's character as it is not attached to his profile, so he might be out if I don't get a reply back here or from the PMs sent.
On the plus side, there were two people interested in playing in the Part 2 and 3 scenarios if we loose anyone before/after part 1.
GM Scott |
@GM I got access to it via a chronicle and got the ok for it a while ago... lemme look back at my posts...
Edit: Details here
Well, there is a little problem with that. I'm assuming you played 6-19 as a level 4 pregen with this character which is prefectly fine. But, you can't apply that chronicle or gain any of the boons in it until you reach the minimum level from that scenario which is level 3. So that boon for a level 1 is not valid.
You have a chance to retrain real quick into a CORE compliant character. Then when you reach level 3, you can apply that chronicle to your character and then do the monk retraining/gaining the free archetype.

I should note that Khargrom has the Trap Spotter rogue talent, which grants him a secret perception check for traps (done by the GM) if he wanders within 10 feet of a trap. It may not come up, but tis not a thing I want to have to try to retcon. That's no fun!

Question: there is that rule that allows you to gain 500 gp for a higher tier scenario and apply it to a level 1 yes? wouldn't that open up the boon immediately? if not, I'll gladly wait to level 3 as the archetype is a serious debuff and for flavor only... :P

Found it!
You can apply credit from a higher-tier adventure to a 1st-level Roleplaying Guild character. When doing so, reduce the gp reward to 500 gp if the adventure grants 1 XP or 1,398 gp if it grants 3 XP. You do not benefit from any boons until your Roleplaying Guild character reaches the minimum level listed on the Chronicle sheet, unless otherwise noted.

That is an awesome boon though and when I mentioned the issue with an archetype in Core I was not even aware of boons being out there that would allow one. Tis a really neat option. :D

Good points, and the Season 10 Society rules are thus: (Italics are from the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide v. 10.0)
1) If you wanted to apply that chronicle to your character, then you would have to wait until level 4 (the level of the pregen you used).
p.7 You may apply credit for an adventure once your Roleplaying Guild character reaches the level of the pregenerated character used to play through it.
2) You could reduce the gold earned to 500 and apply it now but you don't gain access to the boons until level 3.
p.7 You can apply credit from a higher-tier adventure to a 1st-level Roleplaying Guild character. When doing so, reduce the gp reward to 500 gp if the adventure grants 1 XP ... You do not benefit from any boons until your Roleplaying Guild character reaches the minimum level listed on the Chronicle sheet, unless otherwise noted.
So you need to remove the archtype and retrain for this adventure. Then when you hit level 3 or 4 (depending on how you did your chronicle) you can choose to exercise the boon.

I'm a rogue, not a ninja. They aren't core. :P

Stats revised:
Stunning Fist feat added back
All dwarven abilities added back
Sansetsukon proficiency removed
Q: please indicate whether the temple sword can be used in CORE (it's on the 4th level monk pregen sheet, but I'm not exactly sure if the CORE pregens are all CORE legal...)
GM Scott |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
If you are playing a pregen, then it is legal for CORE. I'm pretty sure they removed the restriction from only playing core classes as pregen so you can actually play any pregen and still apply it to a Core character. That was a few PaizoCons and GenCons ago when they were still doing Core games there.
If you are trying to purchase it for use on your character, if it is not available in the Core Rule book, then it is not available. The Temple Sword is not Core.

No worries Anthony, I was also totally disrupted with a developer conference. I didn't expect it was going to be that bad but turned out to be way too much work. But back to normal now and I'll get up the new map and post in the gameplay what is going on.
Thanks for being patient everyone, we will resume now.
Also as a heads up, I'll be heading to Sweden in three weeks so there will be some additional disruption in the game.

Sorry for the absence lately, but I'm having some serious health issues. I'll try to be more present, though you may feel free to bot me if needed.
No worries. Life happens and your health is way more important than a game. I hope you feel better soon. If you add some bot instructions to your character profile, I'll try to make "sensible" choices, but no guarantees. ;)

What kind of instructions should I add?
GM Scott |
What kind of instructions should I add?
Generally I'll look for what do you normally do out of combat like knowledge checks or just stand around looking pretty. Then in combat something like, what do you normally do on the first round (like buff up or buff the party) then what do you do in subsequent rounds (like attack, wait for a healing opportunity, or maintain buffs).
For a first level cleric, there isn't a whole lot that you can do, so I'd add something along the lines of:
Out of combat: participate in any knowledge checks especially religion, heal up any injured party members, preferring channels if multiple people injured.
In combat: stay in back and if needed cast a heal in back (as to not provoke) and move up to heal a party member. Always have my weapon out so I do threaten or can take AoOs.
Then it is nice if you include some [dice] lines for each of those so I can copy and paste. As a little more complex example, see my hunter and pet.
As a bonus, in Hero Lab, you put all of that in the personal tab in the big text area and just add the [spoiler] text and everything there so when you output the bbcode and paste it, it has all of the right formatting already.

Guys, I think it's better if I leave the game. My problems are preventing me from focusing on this kind of activities, and I don't want to waste everyone's time or decreasing the fun you may have playing this game. I hope there won't be hard feelings because of my decision. Good game to you all, have fun everyone.
GM Scott |
No worries Diaz, life is way more important than a game and sometimes we have to step away from games when life gets too complicated. I wish you the best and I'll get your chronicle done soon and message you with the link. As this is an official PFS game, your character will still be reported as playing it but just without the XP, fame, or gold.
Khargrom Shadowband |
We wish you well too, thanks for playing!

Yay! Good vacation?
GM Scott |
It was a lot of fun, visited Stockholm Sweden for a week and ate tons of good food. The air travel part sucks when flights are delayed and you miss connecting flights, but once you get there, it's all good. It is almost funny when you have a four hour layover but then the first flight is delayed by four hours so you almost miss the connection when you thought you'd have loads of time and have to run through the airport to the other gate. Baggage was lost in London (due to the delays and no time to transfer it to the next flight) but they found it the next day and delivered it to Sweden.
The subway train and high speed rail in Sweden (and pretty much the rest of the world) is so much better than here (U.S.). I really miss how easy it is to get around there.
Bossk Sharptooth |
Rail there is 100% gov. funded in Europe and Asia, My dad was a huge train buff. Here in the U.S. it's only like 25% gov. funded. Where most of our funding goes to roads for the trucks and cars. If you noticed there were less 18 wheeler's on the major freeways- or what ever they called them- Less people own cars, and more use public transportation. If I remember right from what I was told.
GM Scott |

You remember very well. I don't recall seeing any really large trucks the entire week, certainly none that went through the city ever (not sure they could get through the round-a-bouts). The annual pass for the train/bus/ferry is about US$900 for unlimited rides. Compare that to the cost of keeping, using, and maintaining a vehicle of any kind and I wouldn't have the multiple vehicles I have here and would scale down to a single car to travel to the remote places on the weekends and IKEA.
It was also very impressive the depth to which the trains operated underground. I don't know of a single city in the US that has at least three levels of underground trains. It is weird when you see an escalator going down for over 100 yards/meters. I'm interested in seeing if that Boring Company actually can make the tunnels that we can eventually use for high speed rail or alternatives.
