Seldiir Elberion |
Sorry, forgot to take my action. If you'll allow it I will act now. I don't mind if Seldiir has to move in the initiative order.
Seldiir shakes off his lethargy and moves into position to fire an arrow at the remaining human.

GM Ietsuna |
Arileth charges and swings. She does not connect with Red, but does connect with one of the mirror images and it dissipates. 3 images left

Boomer steps up beside Arileth and swings his boom stick at the half-elf.

Haze takes out Red. Looking around you see two bound elves off to one side with a rope where Red dropped it.
GM Ietsuna |
We are fine. Just bound. They wanted to sell us as slaves. Who are you please?
Therin Baldaros |
[b} I am Therin, servant of Sarenrae. My friends and I are Pathfinder agents. One moment and you'll be free.[/b] the priest says, grabbing his dagger and cutting the bindings. He then goes to check the fallen bandits for signs of life, in case they can be saved.
GM Ietsuna |
Ahh, Pathfinders. We are members of the Ekujae. Your organization is known to us. Would you care to accompany us to our village?
Haze the Futile |
"It would be our pleasure. We were hoping to run into you."
Boomer Forgehammer |
Boomer extends his hand to the elf, "We...we've come to pay off the d..d..debt owed by Nieford Sharrowsmith with his passing to the Boneyard. P...P..Please take us to your village so that we can find out what is owed."
GM Ietsuna |
The elves escort you for the rest of that day and another. When it comes time to set up camp they show you to a nice spot out of the rain since it has begun to rain again this evening. They duck out into the forest and return an hour later with food, enough for everyone. As some small game roasts over the campfire they exchange small talk with you.
The night passes uneventfully and the elves seem to be truly appreciative of your rescue as they do not cut your throats in your sleep.
As the sun is nearing its highest point you reach a steam. A broad, shallow stream cuts across the path here, flowing around the edge of a 10-foot-tall boulder. The air is slightly cooler and there are few insects flying about. Standing atop the boulder is a half-elf woman. She holds her hands empty and relaxed at her sides as she addresses you in Common. I am Fola Barun, speaker for the Ekujae. Why are you here?
Seldiir Elberion |

Seldiir admires the elves confidence in the terrain and aks many questions about their new environment.
Now.
Seldiir looks up, admiring her confidence, "We are Pathfinders. We come to honour the debt of our deceased ally, Nieford Sharrowsmith."
Arileth PFS |
Arileth can't help but raise her eyebrows at the half-elf Ekujae. This is their speaker? she asks silently. I never would've expected them to welcome a half-human into their leadership. She wisely leaves all of this unsaid.
GM Ietsuna |
Ahh, you have made my job easy for me. Thank you. I know that Sharrowsmith made an arrangement with our leaders in exchange for listening to some of our sacred stories, but I do not know what his end of the bargain was. Will you accompany me to see Jalunth, our leader?
Haze the Futile |
"Of course. We'd be happy to."

GM Ietsuna |
Therin Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Therin Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Fola leads you through the forest.
The appearance of the jungle shifts subtly here over the course of a few hundred yards, moving from thick undergrowth among towering trees to more controlled vegetation. Several small buildings formed of woven branches and grasses rise out of the ground.
In the surrounding trees above are many other buildings that match the style of those on the ground, although they seem to flow even more gracefully from the vegetation even than those below. A series of vines hang from branches throughout the area. Some are short enough only to swing from one treetop building to another, while others reach all the way to the ground.
Colorful birds and noisy monkeys call out from all around, yet their calls are fainter here than those in much of the surrounding jungle.
All of a sudden elves begin to drop from the canopy on ropes, rappelling down. One of their number approaches. What is you business here? Fola speaks a few words and they allow you past with no further challenge.
Within the village, you get a rare glimpse into the lives of the jungle elves. Most go about the daily business of survival, as they prepare food, repair buildings and tools, and share stories. Only about a third of the village is on the jungle floor, however, and much of the activity takes place in the trees above.
On the south side of the village in the branches from 10 to 20 feet above, the Ekujae children play a game where the goal is to hit a target with a blunt arrow, but they move only by swinging on vines. Most startlingly, each team has a player with a knife who tries to cut the vines of the opponents. The elves call this game Makasse.
Both on the ground and above, Ekujae work to shape and change their homes through a combination of magical and mundane effort. As you move about the village, it becomes clear that the Ekujae are continually reinventing its appearance and function. There is a sense of action, motion, and life, and permanence and the past don’t seem to be valued much.
Scattered groups of elves, mostly younger, sit and listen to storytellers. The oral tradition is the primary means the Ekujae use to communicate about the past and hold information, and there are very few examples of writing anywhere at all. Most of the stories being told are about day-to-day life in the jungle, and typically revolve around hunts as well as patrols of the borders of the land by the scouts. As you move close by they stop and stare silently until the outsiders move on.
Kuukuruu |
Kuukuruu eyes widen as he see the extravagant village. A ache forms in his heart as he is reminded of his home. "Wow. They are just like village prior to be found and saved by the Society. Hopefully, they will open up to us."
Haze the Futile |
Haze stumbles a bit as he enters the village, wiping his hand across his sweaty forehead.
"Huh. An interesting place..."
Boomer Forgehammer |
Boomer looks around in awe and wonder stumbling around a bit, "Who would have th..th..thunk it. A city in the trees! W..wonders never cease. He lowers his head and steadies himself, "Anyone else feeling a l...l... a bit off after that hike?"
Arileth PFS |
Arileth seems oddly quiet as the party ventures into the elven village. She looks rather feverish, in fact, and the jungle heat isn't helping.
Fortitude save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
GM Ietsuna |
Saldiir, the repellent gives a +2 bonus to the Fort saves. The save DC was 18. I had you at 2 successes and 1 fail which the scenarios calls out the effect you have. It could have been much worse, trust me.
Arileth, that is a fail. You take Con Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2 and 1 Cha damage and are fatigued.
Therin, that is a pass and you are no longer infected, but the Dex damage stays until you rest.
Therin knows that Arileth is suffering from Dengue Fever.
Haze the Futile |
"Fola, we are tired, and a bit ill from our journey. Are we going to meet your leaders today, or can we rest first?"
GM Ietsuna |
Of course you may rest. We also have anti plague which can be purchased from our merchants or our clerics can perform remove disease for a fee
50GP for flask of Anti plague, 150 GP for a remove disease
Haze the Futile |
"That is wonderful, and kind. Like all things, my weakness will end in time, but perhaps some of my companions will take you up on your offer."
Arileth PFS |
"I should like to see your healer, I think, the feverish cleric of the goddess of vengeance says. She'll just buy a remove disease.
Seldiir Elberion |
GM Ietsuna Vermin Repellent. "...Normal-sized vermin avoid you..."
GM Ietsuna |
Sorry for the slight delay here. I ran 13 miles with 31 obstacles yesterday and was wrecked when I got home. Seldiir, I hear you but the module notes that there is a +2 to the fort save from the repellent, but that it is still a roll. I have to run as written.
The group beds down for the night. Everyone regains 1 point of ability damage as they rest for the night.
You awake the next morning. The elves are still stand-offish and you eat from your trail packs. When everyone is ready you ask to speak to the elders.
Near the center of the village is a 60-foot-wide area where the canopy does not block the sunlight. This space has been cleared of underbrush, and a single, 20-foot-tall tree with a straight bole, smooth gray bark, and a wide crown of emerald leaves stands alone. Arranged in a seemingly haphazard way around the tree are a series of smooth river stones, each two to four feet in diameter.
Nearby elves offer you places to sit on the stones, then take seats themselves. Within a few minutes, two elves, a male and a female, move to the tree and pat it gently. They then approach you. Greetings. I am told you come to settle Sharrowsmith's debt.
Seldiir Elberion |
Seldiir sits Beaky beside him, choosing the stone with the most room for his hippogriff companion.
As the elves approach, Seldiir nods his confirmation but waits for a more convincing companion to explain.
