Thanks for the reminder. I'm good with Dolamite casting that as part of the pre-buffs back in the cavern. It would certainly last long enough.

As to how the linnorm got there? Parts of the linnorm's corpse have been scattered across the hillside over the centuries since its death. It can continue it's initial regeneration from any point. However, now that it is formed, it can no longer do that.

Thoriel, looking around in bewilderment as the linnorm is no longing in front of them but across the other side of the valley, mutters a word in elvish which causes her shiny armor to take on a faint bluish glow. The elf then rises up into the air, her long hair flowing behind her in the breeze and her face split by a joyous grin as she calls out to the beast.

"You want to dance? Come over here then, I'm always in the mood for a tango!"

Invoke command work on Celestial Armor to cast fly on herself. Fly 20' up in the air.

Dolamite's fist slams into the linnorm, shattering a few of the scales. Only years of training allows the attack to be as effective as it is. However, despite the monk's efforts, the linnorm is not dazed by the strike. Thoriel flies forward, counting on her defensive illusion to confound the beast. However, luck, or something more, is on the linnorm's side. Teeth rip into the elf's leg, nearly ripping it off.

Undaunted, Thoriel charges her cold-iron blade with another static charge. Her aim is true, but the beast's inherent resistance protects against the magical aspect of the attack.

In response, the linnorm unleashes a flurry of tooth, claws and tail at the pair. Dolamite manages to avoid the blows, but again, Thoriel's magical protection does not fool the beast.

Slight Retcon. The Will save for Touchy was +13, not +18, so it is now suffering from the effects of Doom.

Thoriel weaves a frigid spell, riming her blade in ice. A series of swings sees nothing but frustration until her last attack. Once again though, the linnorm's innate resistance stymies the magical frost.

Sensing the battle is turning, the linnorm focuses most of its attention on the seemingly unarmored oread. However, once again, years of training prove to make Dolamite far too elusive for the beast.

Finally, Thoriel's defenses perform as expected. So well in fact the the linnorm does not get close enough to shatter one of the illusory magi.

The Fallen King's axe finds retribution in Fahd's hands. The weapon, designed to slay such creatures, hungrily bites into the linnorm. A final roar reverberates as the regenerated vestige plummets to the ground.

In the skies above, Kolvi's titanic battle in the thunderclouds also comes to an end as she buries her spirit blade deep in the essence of her long time foe. As the physical body of the linnorm crumples to the earth, the ghostly remnants shatter into thousands of motes of light. Slowly they dim, then eventually fade into nothingness.

Kolvi looks down on you from on high. She nods her thanks to you. Her transparent body begins to glow brightly in the sky. Then, with a terrible rumble of thunder and a peal of lightning, she s gone.

Dolamite begins to find a rhythm in the combat. Two of his blows strike the linnorm, though not as hard as he hoped.

Note that Dolamite’s attacks count as cold iron, silver and magic, And with pummeling style DR only counts once. Edit:I posted this before I knew the fight was over. :)

@Dolamite. Counted them as Cold-iron. It was more of a comment on not confirming the critical threat.

Touchy will make sure to heal Thoriel, once she gets close enough for him to get his grimy mitts on.

The sun begins to set in the west, marking the end of a long day.

Rest before heading back to town or leave now to make the best of the twilight hours?

Fahd votes the group takes a well deserved rest in the relatively threatfree cave rather than being ambushed on the road.

We killed a dragon, right? It only sees reasonable that somewhere there is a horde. Dolamite notes as he looks about.

"We killed a dragon that has been dead for a couple of centuries." Touchy corrects. "Can't imagine there's much left."

Thoriel already seems to have settled somewhere, ready to rest, thoroughly engaged in brushing the knots and tangles out of her hair and scrubbing the blood from off of her shiny armor.

GM, is the linnorm an actual corpse, or did it fall back into the dessicated old bones it was before? (ie: can we scavange dragon bits for armor and the like from it?) Is that even a thing for linnorms, or just regular dragons?

"Imagine those folks back in Frostbreach will want to make sure their relatives stay buried this time." The dwarf says, looking back towards the cave. "Safe bet the headless thing in there was Alvard... minus the top bit, of course... but did not see the remains of the ghost lady. They might still be in there, worth a look."

"Otherwise, a night to celebrate sounds like a fine idea to Lord Touchy!"

Scavenging for armor you ask? Like, would you get to keep some from the quartermaster after the Pathfinder Society examines and chronicles it on a sheet somewhere? Why, that may indeed be a thing you might want to do.

Well rested, the team breaks camp at first light and makes their way back to Frostbreach.

After listening to your case, Olisarra seems as if she would be willing to follow you back to town. "However, we can go after to them abandoned catacombs to gather up any other evidence you can find.

You head back to the clearing where you found the fey. She nods her approval at your return. "Perhaps it is time to lay these matters to rest." She seems content about the course of action you have taken. She follows along with no further comment. Moss-on-South-Trees can be seen on nearby ridges, though whether it is to guard you or stalk you is impossible to discern.

Skipping the optional encounter

When the party returns to Frostbreach, the townsfolk are abuzz about reports of the strange combat in the sky as well as your recent exploits—or at least those exploits as processed by the town’s rumor mill. With emotions running high, the town council calls a meeting to learn what you were doing. The Trolltooths and Coalbraids attend in force, each anxious about what the party might say and how this could cause the other family to lose face.

This is a short encounter in which you get to present what you’ve found and convince the council and onlookers how they should remember Kolvi, King Alvard, and his companions. There are numerous approaches the party might take, many of which require a successful skill check to convey in a convincing or intelligible way. For most of these checks, one PC can use the aid another action before the narrative becomes hard to follow, providing no benefit from additional checks to aid another.
