"You mean beyond the ksarik?" ask Royo. "I'm sure they have several types of creatures kept here."
Uli Mawborn
|
Uli's hand plays with the catch of his walking stick as Royo mentions the extremely relevant information.
"Oh good. Do they have any kind of standing guidelines about how many of them need to have broken out of their enclosures before it's okay to just knife them?"
| GM Wolffauer |
"Hopefully we won't need to just knife any of them. These creatures are all unique and extremely valuable" say Royo.
You begin to make your way up one for the staircases. As you pass each floor you peek into the rooms to see all sorts of oddities. On the 3rd floor you find a room with dozens of scrimshaw drawings, each carved into the 6-foot-long tooth of some gigantic beast. A few floors later you spy an enormous gold dragon chained to the floor, seemingly in a deep sleep. Cesar tries to get a better look, but the room is sealed off by some sort of force field.
Around the seventh floor Uli spots what looks like a trail of acid droplets.

Survival (Aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Between the group of you and Royo, you are able to identify the acid drops as coming from the ksarik, but are unable to track it at this time. You continue your climb up the tower. On the tenth floor you encounter a room filled with thousands of vibrant birds. They fly and create aerial formations that spell out words and runes in a variety of languages. Royo is momentarially entranced as he tries to do decipher some of the messages. He shakes his head before moving on.
As you hit the 12th floor, a pallid green light fills this area. Ten large glass containers, each filled with translucent green slime, are arranged in a half square in the middle of the room. Scrolls of parchment float lazily inside the slime of each container. You see two figures in the center of the room resembling robed humans constructed of brass and silver with visible clockwork mechanisms inside them. One of their arms ends in a vicious blade, while the other is an intricate clockwork re-creation of a hand.
"The Lore Wardens!" cries out Royo. The wardens turn to face the party, "How dare you simpletons trespass in our domain!" The wardens maintain a stream of grandiose proclamations about their superiority and vast intellect. "We are like gods striding among weak animals!" Will save before each turn

Cesar takes a shot, but it goes wide as the constant ravings of the Wardens prove too much of a distraction.
Ra charges in wreathed in flames. He slashes across the torso of the Warden with his scimitar and the Warden falls to the ground.
Nice round! I've not heard from Kitane, so they will delay this round.

Cesar spots the issue with his gun and then gets off a great shot which puts out the lights in the Warden. The rest of the team grapple with Uli and contain him until the confusion wears off.
Royo rejoins you, "Excellent work! Now let's recover that virus."
Computers to quickly copy the virus into something harmless before the power is all gone from the Warden; or Engineering to extract the Warden memory-storage system and attach it to an external battery; or Sleight of Hand to carefully remove both the memory and power source, keeping the connection between them.
