Lidia*
|
Lidia peers down into the bilge.
"I can't see a thing down there. Should we get a light?"
| GM_Grandlounge |
Bloodtusk stikes a match against his pants and grabs two lanterns and lights them. "Don't drop them in the water. You don't want to be down there in the dark."
The captain has been with you the whole time and said he would meet you all at the door to the armory.
ben said, "You go tell the captain..." the captain said to Lidia, "Go to the kitchen and grab Gashnakh then meet me at the door in 5 min. Got it?"
Bloodtusk says, "one way in one way out no captain traps the bilge that would be suicide it is the area of the ship in most need of quick repair."
Bloodtusk is staying in the armory above the trap door.
Ben, once you have some light notice several more snare traps.
Lidia*
|
Bloodtusk says, "one way in one way out no captain traps the bilge that would be suicide it is the area of the ship in most need of quick repair."
"Wait... so if you didn't set the snare, who did?" says Lidia. She looks to the cook, then looks toward the door behind which the ape now fitfully slumbers, then back down the hole, then she heaves out a deep breath as the realization hits her.
"There's a stowaway down there!" she says like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "And now that we've set off that snare, sure as Abadar s*~~s gold, he knows we're coming."
She takes a lantern, and starts down the ladder to the bilge.
"Ben, there might be more..."
She looks around and sees all the snares and trip ropes.
"...traps..."
| Little Ben PBP |
Ben fires up a light spell and then a detect poison spell for his search, hunting for traps, poison, and anything else of interest.
"A stowaway!? That would make total sense. But if that IS the case, the stowaway is probably still down here so keep alert!"
Ben also spots a number of traps and starts pointing them out.
"And just assume that for every trap we spot, there is another one we have not spotted."
Ulretha
|
"Anyone have a safe way of getting rid of those?" Ulretha asks when the traps are pointed out to him. He hadn't seen them at all.
He squints in the light, once more wondering how a species that can see in the dark has managed to not only stay alive so long but thrive so much.
But the answer for that question can be found later, for the moment, there's a stowaway and saboteur to be found, one who almost drowned him and got him eaten by crocodiles.
He pulls out his hammer and makes sure his shield is strapped in place.
Lidia*
|
"We could disarm them one at a time, and give the saboteur time to prepare for us. But there's another option."
"Ulretha we can get your hyenas down here, and Ben we can get your Little Buddy, then we send them out ahead of us while we move in quickly. The animals can trip the snares and we can get through to the other side. If what happened to Kioshi is any indication, these snares are meant to slow down or hold someone, not hurt them."
Ulretha
|
Ulretha's eyes narrow and his lips move away from his teeth, exposing their sharp points. He's literally snarling when he answers Lidia.
"I notice you didn't mention sending that little cat that's been following you around in your list of animals that can trip these 'harmless' snares."

"I notice you didn't mention sending that little cat that's been following you around in your list of animals that can trip these 'harmless' snares."
"She doesn't follow my commands that way." says Lidia a little defensively. "It was just an idea. Don't get mad."
Lidia*
|
"Wow, that hurt a little. Thanks for getting me out. I would suggest to continue the search of the remaining ship."
"What? You're leaving? We find out there's a stowaway down here, and you decide to go look somewhere else?" says Lidia incredulously. "Why did you even open the trap door if you didn't intend to help us search down here?"
Ulretha
|
"Ah, let the witch go. He probably wouldn't be much help, anyway," Ulretha says, mollified by Lida's partial apology.
He peeks his head up over the trapdoor.
"Thyste, you're handy with your hands, can you work with traps?"
| Thyste Fox-Tailed |
Thyste bobs her head. ”I’m pretty good with them, yeah,” she says, ”but if you all can keep an eye out, I’m not always the best at spotting them. I don’t really have a SENSE for TRAPS, you see. Maybe next time I’m due to pick up a TALENT that’s a little on the ROGUISH side.”
Lidia*
|
"I'll help you." says Lidia to Thyste, grave as a paladin. She starts to move cautiously forward, lantern in hand.
It sounds like there are multiple snares to deal with, so I'm including multiple Perception checks. The GM can take as many as are needed.

| Little Ben PBP |
Ben grows a little suspicious when Kioshi heads topside. I mean all these problems started happening when he joined the group! it could be a coincidence. But only a little suspicious. It's just not in Ben's nature to be that way.
"Um. No. I'm going to try my best to disarm them without putting any of our friends in jeopardy, if I can. Just because one trap was non-lethal does not mean that all of them are. And it only takes one."
Ben examines the traps to see if they are lethal or non-lethal and to determine whether he is up to disarming them.
| GM_Grandlounge |
With Ben and Lidia looking you find three traps, all of which appear to be non-lethal snare traps. Having seen people pull underwater recently you would imagine these would be deadly on a sinking ship.
Ben and Lidia you find the three traps marked on the map. Whoever you all decide can try to disarm them or you can throw animals at them.
| GM_Grandlounge |
”Hello, the Captain told me that I should familiarize myself with your work. Today would be my first day! I am eager to learn and will surely be of support to you!“
"Well ain't that nice. Mess up any of my maps and I will throw you overboard."
Lidia*
|
Lidia will stand over Thyste as she works. She has her bow out and watches the far door intently in the light of her lantern, which she has set down behind herself.
"Nothing fancy, just cut 'em so they don't go off." murmurs Lidia tensely.
| Little Ben PBP |
"Or toss something on them and try to set them off without getting too near."
Ben looks around for something long, like a 2x4x10 figuring a ship has to have repair materials, though perhaps not down here in the bilge.
Ulretha
|
Ulretha doesn't tell Thyste how to do her business. He keeps close to her, though, watching for trouble.
Maybe whatever set the traps is watching them to capitalize on anyone that they capture.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
| GM_Grandlounge |
Thyste you will have to try and find out.
Ban you can easily find some supplies that fit that size in the cargo hold.
| Little Ben PBP |
Ben locates a pole and performs his own style of trap springing starting in area A13 while Thyste works on the traps along the platform.
"There is probably another hidden door by those steps near the bow."
| GM_Grandlounge |
The pair of you make short work of the traps in the room and along the walkway. You make to a closed-door (A15).
Please place yourself at the door can tell me what you are doing.
| Thyste Fox-Tailed |
”So, I was going to watch the entrance, but do you guys need me inside for trap disarming?” asks Thyste.
Wish that flighty mage hadn’t decided to f%*~ off somewhere.
Ulretha
|
"You got your bow, right? It's not like this is a big space. Stay back by that door and be ready to shoot but keep an eye out for anyone on the other side down there. I'm betting whatever's been giving us trouble is behind this door and I got some 'words' to share with it," Ulretha says, brandishing his hammer in case anyone wonders what language he's planning to speak.

"...I'm betting whatever's been giving us trouble is behind this door and I got some 'words' to share with it," Ulretha says, brandishing his hammer in case anyone wonders what language he's planning to speak.
"Exactly what I was thinking." murmurs Lidia. She takes up a position on the west end of the walkway, bow at the ready. "Be careful. It's too quiet. I'm sure he knows we're out here."
| Little Ben PBP |
Ben and Little Buddy prepare themselves by staying back from the door. Too many traps!
| GM_Grandlounge |
Little Buddy clicks he clearly smells something alive behind the door.
I will have a post as of the door open later today.
| GM_Grandlounge |
As you open the door if creaks loudly as a snake coiled stares at you.

Kioshi is in initiative on the off chance the fight comes his ways bit there is little chance to hear what is happening from where he is. Sorry guys I know that's a rough opening round but you guys can do it.

Holy cats, is that 46 points of damage to Ben? Is he dead?
Lidia had been expecting trouble as soon as they opened the door, and yet she's still a bit slow off the mark.
Her face betrays a rush of conflicting emotions. Clearly she hadn't been expecting the person behind the door to be a small scraggly looking woman who, well, looked a lot like her. But there was also alarm and horror at the woman's stunning and efficient rush of arrows.
"Why are you trying to kill us?" she bleats out, though she begins firing back without waiting for an answer.

She looks like a more pissed-off Lidia! is her first thought.
Then, she notices that she's got one arrow lodged in Ben's chest and another in his neck.
She swears very loudly and rushes for him.
I'm pretty sure Ben's alive, but I doubt he's still standing. Either way: Thyste has Sacred Touch, so he'll be stabilized next turn.
Ulretha
|
"Well that didn't take long..." Ulretha mutters when a couple well placed arrows take Ben out of the fight before he can do anything.
"Keep her busy until I can deal with this thing!" he snarls at Lidia and Thyste before taking hammer to snake.
"Try to bite me? I'll teach you to try to bite me!" he says, challenging the snake.

Yes, I'm actually Challenging the snake, I have 2 per day and figure these two will be the only ones we face today. And despite what he said, everyone gets a +1 to hit the snake while Ulretha's threatening it so it might be easier to kill it. And I'm using combat expertise so my AC goes up to 21.
Fun fact, I actually have killed a snake with a hammer, IRL.
| Little Ben PBP |
Ben drops like a stone, having taken 46 points of damage.
Little buddy stands there having been given no command and snarls at the snake woman.
stabilize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
*gurgle* says Ben
*chirp* says Little Buddy.
I don't remember whether Ben was actually at 37 HP or at full. did they get a nights worth of rest after the encounter with the Dragonlings?
| GM_Grandlounge |
The woman is supernaturally quick. She raises an arcane shield that blocks the first arrow but the second hits.
The snake uncoils and makes another attempt at the savage knoll.

Was that a set up or did you actually use healing or first aid or something? Ben does have a well labelled potion of CLW if you need to use it.

Improved Precise Shot you mean? Alas, I am but a humble 4th level ranger. +11 attack bonus and 19 Dex are beyond my means. But if I roll a natural 20 and still miss, I may as well stop shooting and try something else.
