Acid Damage to the entangeled: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The acid that holds Ben, Ulretha and THyste starts to eat away at their skin.
The drake near Thyste takes two attacks at her. Landing another devastating bite but its tail glances off the low wall of the crow's nest.
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 212d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
Tail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The second Drake makes a careful movement up and south out of reach of the pack of hungry animals and spits at the ice wielding wizard.

Do we take a -2 to escape the entangled as the entangled condition inflicts a -4 to dex. Even so, Ben is FREE!!!!
He makes his way towards the large mini-dragon, intent on protecting Thyste, and casts barkskin on himself. The AC bonus cancels out the AC penalty from enlarge person.
Ulretha |
"Fine. Hard way it is," Ulretha snarls.
He says a non-sensical word that nontheless has an effect.

Charmed Reflex Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Thyste jerks herself free as if she'd been practicing all week, then leaps over the railing, grabbing a rope and trying to swing/slide back onto the deck as quickly as possible.
Let me know what I need to roll for that-- Acrobatics? Climb?

Meant Lidia. Thyste is in the other direction and doesn't need help. Well, Lidia probably doesn't either, but she acts vulnerable :)

Acid Damage to the entangeled: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Aoo vs Thyste: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Thyste jumps off the crow's nest, there is a half-second before the rope in he had snaps taught and she begins to swing. With a full
rotation around the mast, she swings the rope into the drake and nearly catches its wing but it shakes free before it can be slammed into the mast by Thyste's swing. Thyste slips genitally to the ground.

"Well, hopefully that will be the last we see of them."
Other than that he just takes out a wand of CLW and taps himself with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Lidia* |
Holy Cats, do those things have rockets attached to their butts? 300 ft per round?
Lidia licks her finger and feels for the wind, then draws her bow back and aims up and arcs a final arrow toward the largest drake.
Ranged Attack, range penalty: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
"Cowards!" she yells out after launching her arrow. There's a good natured feistiness to her as she comes down onto the deck and pulls out her new wand. Seeing Thyste first, she sizes up her injuries from a distance and practically runs over to the fox-ling.
"I can heal your wounds?" she offers. But it's not really an offer. She's already closing her eyes and concentrating and summoning forth the healing magic.
CLW on Thyste: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
And as the wound heals under the wand's touch, Lidia's face breaks into a huge, delighted smile.
"How's that? Way better, right? Do you want me to do it again?"
Lidia* |
Lidia shrugs.
"I think they were hungry. Or maybe they were trying to rescue their friend downstairs in the storage room."
Thyste Fox-Tailed |
Thyste, looking absolutely terrible, grins at Lidia. One of her pointed teeth is angled badly and bleeding. "You've had that thing for barely a day and you're already whipping it out at every pretty girl you see!"
Chuckling to herself, she lets her wounds be mended. "I could probably use another two of those," she sighs as her tooth rocks back into its usual place, "but it's not as much of an emergency anymore."
Ulretha |
Ulretha takes one more shot as the big lizards try to get away. "Oh no you don't! You're not going anywhere!"
Aggrimosh: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Damage: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 5, 6) + 9 = 22

Whoot! That's 62 points I'm gonna make boots out of it!
Lidia* |
"I could probably use another two of those,"
Lidia needs little encouragement.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"How's that?" she asks gently.
Little Ben PBP |
"Aren't mini=dragons supposed to be intelligent, like their larger brethren? Maybe they thought they could grab an easy meal. The sailors did not seem to be of much help. I guess they are not fighters and those things had a really nasty spit."
Ben puts and enlarged finger through an enlarged hole for emphasis.
Little Buddy, who did not participate in the excitement other than to guard animals that were not attacked, is casually occupying himself on some personal grooming, oblivious to the conversation.
"There are also a handful of goodberries down in the kitchen if you have some light wounds. They are about as effective as one of those charges from the wand, but they can be spread out to provide minor healing for many. A really good way to top off any healing you might want to do. Though I think I'll just let nature heal me the rest of the way."
GM_Grandlounge |
One of the drakes fails to get away having its lungs crushed in. Lidia takes on pot shot but it does not connect.
Bloodtusk walks over, "Well you really earned your dinner today. The river drakes are smart they often plague us on this stretch of river. They often pick off a horse to two."
Thyste Fox-Tailed |
As Ben explains the healing properties of goodberries, Thyste's ear twitches and she notices the now-familiar sound of Bloodtusk footsteps.
The lookout who only saw the inside of her own eyelids makes herself scarce.
GM_Grandlounge |
"You can heal up in the galley if you like once we are done the de brief. I want to know how they got so close without Thyste seeing. Any ideas?"
He looks at the group sternly.
Lidia* |
Lidia pointedly looks away and starts counting her arrows.
"I was watching the river for rocks and shallows up in the bow." she says with a little shrug.
Little Ben PBP |
"Beats me. I was up to my eyeballs in horse crap. And, to be honest, I am easily distracted."
Ever the honest one, and probably having noticed her penchant for sleeping, he adds, "But if I know her, she was probably sleeping. Hmmm. Considering, perhaps it would be better to put Lidia on lookout duty?"
Ben figures that would kill two birds with one stone. Lidia would probably use up all the charges on all the wands in a hearbeat given the chance, and the goodberries might prove to be irresistible to the budding wizard.
GM_Grandlounge |
"Asleep. Is that true? Please do be true." Bloodtusk says through gritted teeth.
Lidia* |

Lidia gives Little Ben a sideways look, then turns to the captain.
"You saw how fast those things flew away. No matter who the lookout was, those things were on us before anyone could have done anything." says Lidia.
Ulretha |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Yeah...and they came in out of the sun. No one would have been able to see them coming. And...if you don't like how your passengers are doing the work that your sailors should be doing, you could always let your sailors do them," Ulretha comments.
"While they're at it, they can dispose of this one that I killed before it could eat any of them or your horses," he continues, nudging the slain creature with a foot as he shrinks back to normal size.
But, he's been given the excuse so he heads to the galley to "recover."
"You can touch me with your wand, if you want, Lidia," he calls out over his shoulder.

"You can touch me with your wand, if you want, Lidia," he calls out over his shoulder.
Lidia starts to reach for the wand, then stops and gets a crestfallen look.
"It's empty. I used the last charges on Thyste."
GM_Grandlounge |
It does not matter much based on the RP but Bloodtusk miss spoke and meant to say "don't be true".
Bloodtusk follows you to the galley to sort out what happened.
"I know they are fast and smart. I would not have even considered that someone would be sleeping on duty if it had to be said by a member of your group to my tusked face. And now your friend has gone and disappeared. If I was a more suspicious man I could get to thinking that this is sabotage, but I'm not one to jump to conclusions."
...passengers are doing the work that your sailors should be doing, you could always let your sailors do them...
Looking Ulretha straight in the eye, "Passengers you agreed to be sailors in order to pay your way. You work three forth shifts and never nights because the rest of your fair is made up by protecting the ship. That was the god's damned arrangement.' He composes himself, "I thank you for doing your job. Now find your friend so we can decide how to move forward. I will be here." He then shouts, "Thyste, come out and let talk."
Thyste Fox-Tailed |
Thyste appears a few seconds later, looking rather messy. ”More dragons, Mister Bloodtusk Sir? Let me at ‘em!”
She’s holding a flagon and doesn’t seem particularly stressed.
”Went down to the galley real quick for a real fruit smoothie. Want a sip?”
Instead of holding it out to offer it, she takes a deep swig herself.
Lidia* |
As things begin to escalate with the captain, Lidia shrinks back toward one of the masts but watches in fascination. She looks tense, like a person bracing for a blow.
Little Ben PBP |
Ben considers what the others said, and chimes in too, "You make a very good point. It would have been challenging for anyone to see them flying in like that. Captain, I have a hard time understanding your ire. You say you usually lose a horse or two, but this time you lost none. And none of your sailors were hurt, only us. You do not consider that a good result?"
"And here is Thyste herself. Let us hear what she has to say!"
GM_Grandlounge |
"These creature have also been spotted at quite a distance in the past by people in the crows nest. So speak up were you sleeping like Ben said?"
Thyste Fox-Tailed |
”Nah.”
Never offer information when it wasn’t requested! It makes lies easier to spot.

"There. I guess I was wrong."
GM_Grandlounge |
Sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
"Don't bullshit a bullshiter. Tell me the truth. If you can't do the job I can have someone help you. You seemed fine the first day. But what I can't have is layabouts and insubordination. I get you are free-spirited folks but did you see how many people it took to get the boat out of dock? That does not happen with ten people all doing whatever they want."
Little Ben PBP |
Ben has always heard that captains can be tyrants, but this is the first time he has ever run into it and he does not like it.
"Well, I for one am doing the best I can, but I am no sailor. If you are finding us such an annoyance, I'm sure we can hoof it through the wilderness. Frankly, it's six of one, half dozen of the other for me."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Lidia* |
”Nah.”
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Lidia looks at Thyste and narrows her eyes. But she says nothing.
GM_Grandlounge |
Bloodtusk continues in the calm manner he has been speaking in since composing himself.
"Ben there is no need to be condescending (this is how he is reading your bad role) you are all part of my crew. Let's get on the same page you all seem to think something is happening here that is not. I thanked you did I not? I commended you for your bravery and skill. Then I asked for was a debrief on what when wrong and you told me your mate was sleeping on the job. My response, though angry at first, was to offer her help with her duties or to reassign her. And what did I get in response people sneak off and lying to my face and then a claim I call you annoyances. Please correct me if I have miss characterized anything?"
He takes a big breath in, "Because, there are several important things we should be talking about."
You all also know if you want to be able to get to red lake fort and the tomb in time to do something about the future attack the boat is your only option. Though on foot you may be lucky and find them on the way but that's a tough amount of ranging for a small party.
