Does a character have to be next to the scales or touching the scales to be the recipient of a touch spell from the scales? If not what are the limitations. I was thinking of having it cast cure moderate wounds on Little Buddy but I'm not sure it is allowed.

As long as the character is attuned, the range is just line of sight to represent your cleric PC being able to run over and get in range. Feel free to have the scales cast healing on Buddy, I'm just glad he didn't splatter on the ground.

Ben cannot see Little Buddy right now, but I'm going to go with he can be healed.

Weapon of Awe on Lidia's bow

Sounds valid to me! I need to remember to count my buffs... I think that last attack should have added +3. Damage is the same and I don’t think I missed, though, so!

In my opinion? Forget the scales, pull out that big axe, and go hit that mo-fo.

+1 to Lidia's plan. Keep the scales handy for some emergency healing, but wade on in is my vote.

Using the scales is a free action. Basically it is supposed to represent another character in the party casting a spell. So Ben can swing his axe AND use the scales.

Could do that. Ben is already in te thick of things. I think a weapon of awe on the bow would produce the most bang for the buck.

Whatever you like. Lidia is not terribly experienced with magic (as you've all seen) so would not expect or request any magical aid, but she's seen Ben employing the weird scales to do all sorts of amazing things, and so would completely trust him at this point if he wanted to do something to help her.

As a player, I'm not familiar with Weapon of Awe. What's the effect?

The weapon gains a +2 sacred bonus on damage rolls, and if the weapon scores a critical hit, the target of that critical hit becomes shaken for 1 round with no saving throw.

Are there two giants or is the same giant going twice in the init.

Same giant going twice because solo boss fights are typically steamrolled, especially when it's just a muscle head boss

As book 1 comes to a close soon, let me know if you'd like PFS credit for it.

I thought you mentioned you were going to be backing off from gaming, GM and might not continue.

I'm pretty sure we're almost done with this book and if we're not going to proceed there's no reason to recruit a cleric.

If we're going to continue, I have a couple go to players I could tap to see if they want to come in with a healer character.

Or I could swap to a cleric if they don't want to.

I'm now amused by the idea of playing a cleric of Abaddar.

I thought it would be for tier 1. Is there no chronicle for a first level character or is that on the Power of the giants chronicle sheet that comes with it? Which character I assign it to depends on the answer. I created 141936-21, Walks with Giants, to be the recipient of the Giantslayer chronicles, but if it is going to be skipping levels, I will want to assign to someone level appropriate each time.

Also, how much XP is given with each chronicle?

Yeah, this doesn't have a chronicle for a level 1 immediately. Some APs do, but not this one. Each of the chronicles gives 3xp and the levels for PFS for them are all over the place (going up of course). I can continue running the AP at this pace if everyone is ok with it being kind of slow or we can call it after the end of this book

I'm all for continuing. In that case apply the chronicle to Character 141036-17, Cheswick Saunterlane, grand lodge.

I'd also like to continue. Lidia has a lot of growth and story potential in her, not to mention a lot of backstory she has yet to share with people she is only now beginning to bond with a little.

I thought of that, but it looses a lot of it's appeal when that is the case. I'd rather apply to my wimpy arcanist who sucks at lower levels.

I did! He spent his first level with archer skills and blaster abilities, with the full intention of going a more traditional route now that he is second level!

Since you mentioned alchemist fire, keep in mind that you can't actually hit an incorporeal creature with a splash weapon, even holy water. To use holy water against an incorporeal creature, you have to poor the water out on top of the creature; the vial just phases through harmlessly (unless you ghost touched a single vial of a splash weapon for some reason).
