is it too late to change 'around' to 'aroun'' instead of adding ed to the crown? xD
well Bob can't be THAT good of a poet. But a clever idea! I didn't see it.

I think that's likely to do it for your CR up.
You aren't saying it with much conviction, but I am taking this at your word... LEVEL UP TIME PEOPLE. Just to confirm: that is CR5 right? Bob's level up is very simple. Losing the young template! It is a very good feeling getting rid of the last negative CR.
I'm going to need help again; remind me how HP is calculated; if we get skill points for a non-PC CR.
Goldslip
For the most part, your stats will be the same as those of the monsters you chose from the bestiary (HP and background skills being the main differences as explained below). Whatever skill ranks, racial bonuses, feats, etc that monster has it what you have. Those stats can then be modified as you take templates, class levels, or grow into a more powerful but very similar monster (e.g. a ghoul becoming a draugr) such that you still have continuity of the same character.
...
To help with that, you get two background skills ranks for every CR you have. Max ranks in a skill will be based on your CR or HD, whichever is higher.
...
The first hit die that you gain you get full hp. After that, you get the avg rounded up (d8->5, d10-> 6, etc) at each hit die.
I pulled these out from the Campaign Info tab.
So hit points are average rounded up, but we only get more hit points if we've gained a Hit Die (from a monster change or from a class level).
Looks like we only get background skill points, unless we're gaining a Hit Die (monster or class level), but the increased CR does increase the maximum cap on ranks in a single skill, regardless.

Snowball the Dragon
actually, this is a good time for Snowball to grow from Tiny to Small... hehehe...
Snowball the Dragon
BTW, I forget, are we doing feat taxes or anything special with feats? XD
Bob's Yer Uncle

I have to start getting some hit dice or my HP won't ever increase. You would think 78 would be enough and I guess it has since I haven't died. But I only have an AC of 4...
GM Monster
I didn't say to CR up yet because I wanted to wait to see a little more RP before making the call. But yes I'd say you guys have collectively earned 1000 XP for roleplaying for sure. I love reading the roleplay in this game.
INCREASE TO CR 5
Goldslip is correct regarding the rules. Templates generally don't give you more hd or skill ranks but they might give you a con bonus (increasing hp) or a skill bonus. The easiest way to get hit die is to take class levels. We aren't doing anything particularly special with feats. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that I allow Mr. Snuggles and his boon companion boost to scale with Cindy's CR instead of just levels in a certain class.
Snowball the Dragon
I'll just get Power Attack and wait till next CR to exactly match the normal dragon's feat list by grabbing Alertness, even though it probably still wont suit Snowball yet xD
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
By the way, in case anyone is wondering, since I'm taking that aberrant template on this level up (still working all the math, will post new profile later this weekend) I have to take "drunk" to offset the +2 CR.
Since Cindy can't get drunk I'm playing her as kind of disoriented and getting used to the mental changes for the same mechanical penalties.
That's where the occasional personality changes and other things that might come up in RP or combat come from.
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Now that Tina has Leadership, is Skank eligible to be her cohort? I suppose, technically, she's limited to a lvl (-1) cohort, since she's only got 1 class level (but 3HD)
+1 Special power (is a lich)
-1 Aloofness
+2 Has a stronghold, base of operations, guildhouse, etc.
+10 CHA Mod
----
12 Leadership Score:
8th level Cohort, 8 1st level followers
Regardless of your Leadership score, you can only recruit a cohort who is two or more levels lower than yourself.
I was figuring it would make sense to get some gobbos, but if you've other ideas on who joins up, I'm all ears.
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Taking suggestions for what the hivemind wants out of a 1st level cohort. (not skank)
Probably some knowledge skills?
Maybe some crafting?
Class Suggestions? Something useful at lvl 1. I'm thinking oracle or inquisitor?
I've got a plan to take it into the field with us (but not combat), and I'm thinking that maybe that inquisitor's monster lore, or maybe an Ancestors oracle would be nice.
Get some utility out of it.

Well, looking at Bob's AC he's an unarmored personnel carrier or just a personnel carrier.
Bob's Yer Uncle

I'm large now! I can engulf four people at once!
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Now that we're CR5, does that count as Bard 5 for Tina's weird bardic performance thing? (inspire courage bumps to +2/+2) Or did you want that to key on HD?
Goldslip
Finally finished Goldslip's new statblock. She is now a fossegrim instead of a nixie! With the young template, so she is still Small sized, which was her size as a nixie.
Fossegrims appear to traditionally be male. I was figuring I'd just be an exception (PCs are exceptional!), but maybe it's more fun if Goldslip becomes a dude all of a sudden? I know other people involved in this game have seen a character undergo such shifts in a game... ;-)

sex changes abound with RP potential! especially if you can turn back in a future level up. :D
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Something I just found wandering around on the Interwebs:
"The Fossegrim is a creature with origins in Norse mythology, legend and folklore. It is a creature akin to the Norse Nix, and the two are very closely related.
Though, it is known that the two are not the same creature, as Nixes can be either male or female (and even shift gender), while Fossegrimen are exclusively male."
Two things I see there, that Nixies can shift gender, and Fossegrim are always male. Take from that whatever you want.
GM Monster
Up to you Goldslip!
Yes I did get a lot of RP fodder out of cursed item gender-switching with my librarian character... XD
Goldslip
This avatar is the best I've found so far, in that the white hair and pale blue skin match those characteristics of a fossegrim's appearance. But fossegrim are also supposed to look like very handsome, well-built elves, and I feel like this one's face is a little too funky, and its arms too spindly, to match that description. I could definitely live with this, though.
If anyone happens to spot a better avatar, let me know how you find it. I found this one when filtering on Male and Fey.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Tina, I'm confused.
I looked at Suzerain Creature and the bonus you mentioned involving free-willed followers seems to say that YOU get it if one is able to see you (and it says +4 not +2)
It also mentions that allies who can see you get a bonus equal to your CHA mod on all attack and damage rolls, checks, and saves.
Just checking to see if GM modified your template, or if you're reading it wrong, or if I'm reading it wrong.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
OK new hotness from level-up:
-Lifesense 120' !!!
-Almost all DCs went up 4 points from combo of template and headband of CHA
-Brush of the Incomprehensible: (DC 17) On successful attack (dealing damage or opponent fails save against spell/SLA) opponent must make will save or be instantly inflicted with a madness affliction ignoring its onset time and replacing its normal DC.
.....(I chose Schizophrenia: A schizophrenic character has lost his grip on reality, and can no longer tell the difference between what is real and what is not. Effect -4 penalty on Wisdom and Charisma based skill checks, cannot take 10 or take 20, and each time a schizophrenic character finds himself in a stressful situation (such as combat) he must make a Will save (DC 17) or be confused for 1d6 rounds.)
-Distort Reality: Dark Tapestry creatures have a 50% chance to simply ignore an attack, spell, or other action targeting or affecting it. Acid and sonic attacks ignore this ability. The Dark Tapestry creature may NOT voluntarily fail this check to allow a beneficial action caused by other creatures to affect it.
-Overwhelming Madness: (DC 17) When a non-aberration creature makes mental contact with a Dark Tapestry creature, it must make a will save or be instantly subjected to the effects of Brush of the Incomprehensible. On a successful save, the creature is staggered for 1 round. This occurs whether the Dark Tapestry creature initiates mental contact or another creature attempts to do so.
TL;DR - She now gets missed a lot (even by friendly spells or effects) and in addition to having harder to resist fears, she has a chance of making anyone she attacks/casts at or anyone who makes mental contact insane.
Also - since it seems like both the GM and I kept forgetting her fear aura, I added it right in her stat block in caps to help us remember for when we meet people in RP or combat
Goldslip
When a non-aberration creature makes mental contact
Interesting! So those of us with the Mutant template are protected, because we've become aberrations.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Makes sense. An aberrant mind wouldn't have issues with the aberrant thinking of another aberrant mind. You mutants and us eldritch horrors gotta stick together, ya know?
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Good catch, Cindy. I had been wondering why there were equivalent features, but now that you point out that one affects me, and the other affects my friends it makes a lot more sense.
And the GM capped the effect at "whatever bonus my bardic inspriation grants", so it's a +2/+2 (rather than the +10/+10 that we really want) but they stack because different types.
Snowball the Dragon
btw, Snowball's heavy load increased to 200 lbs :D
Most of her stats went down, 'cause Advanced adds 4 to everything and increasing an age category doesn't add 4 to anything... except Strength :D
So Snowball's str is the same but her dex dropped by 6, haha
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Hello everybody!!!
Snowball the Dragon
Hello xD
I'm beginning to think I should just narrate Snowball swimming into the cave.
Also, would Bob actually dissolve in water? xD
I get the feeling he would dissolve as much as jello; he wouldn't xD
Bob's Yer Uncle
|
There is nothing in the rules that says I would. I just have a swim of -5 or something so I decided it didn't make any sense for bob to go down there. I can't drown either but I would just get stuck on a current.
GM Monster is on the brink of defending his dissertation. Let's wish him the best! But the game is going to go slow til that happens.
Snowball the Dragon
oh yeah, that's right xD
good luck GM xD
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
I just finished a draft set of stats for my leadership Cohort. It's an 18 INT Investigator, who has the Infusion discovery, so if there's any spells off the Investigator formula list that you want to have, open for suggestions. there's space fo 8 in my book, and right now I've got:
Ant Haul, CLW, Comprehend Languages, Detect Undead, Expeditious Retreat, Heightened Awareness, Polypurpose Panacea, Shield.
Also, they have an inspiration pool that lets them add a nice +1d6 to their skill rolls 5 times a day, except in the case of Knowledge, Survival, Heal, Diplomacy, Profession, Perception, Sense Motive, Linguistics, Spellcraft checks, where they can do it for free.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
I was under the impression that Tina was headed in, but then wasn't sure when GM didn't include her in the list.
I added the +2 for inspiring example to my rolls, but if Tina is still outside please just remove that bonus :)
Snowball the Dragon
Well, Tina probably caught a ride on Snowball if she can't swim well. Perhaps in her mouth? She is small sized now :D
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Hmm. That would make me small enough for Swallow Whole. Maybe designers just didn't include that in the younger age brackets, because they weren't expecting coming up against Fine and Diminutive opponents to be an issue that arises?
Snowball the Dragon
not enough PCs in that size range, for sure xD
Could also be that Snowball just needs to chew before swallowing xD
GM Monster
I just assumed Tina wasn't heading in due to her comment about wet hair and no stated plan for entry. So I just pushed things forward since I can't update that often right now and didn't want to have a holding pattern kind of update. But Tina can certainly be dragged in by someone if she wants and they want.
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
Happy Anniversary, everyone!
It simultaneously feels like so much shorter and longer than a year that we've been playing together.
I've had a great time playing with you all so far, and I'm looking forward to continuing well into the future.
GM Monster
Yes! This is definitely one of my favorite (though challenging in weird ways) games to run. I'm SO close to being done with my dissertation and will be able to give you guys more attention.
Piedmontina Mumblethunder
GM is getting close! Advisor sent me a request for stories to heckle with as part of intro to defense talk. I figured explaining this campaign would be too much work, but I did send along some others .
