Then she winked at Niche, nodded at Aukanand and blow a kiss at Davian.
Sitting at the table, slightly shaking his head thinking, Of course, she found the most dramatic of entrances, Davian 'catches' the kiss in his hand and 'stuffs' it into his inner vest pocket. Strangely enough, the desnan notices his vest pocket getting uncomfortably hot for a few moments until the burning sensation disappears.
"Lâdîeş ănd genţlemen, ăș țhe țăldăne șăy, ’Î hâve no horşe în ţhîş râce’", Davian began. "My învolvemenț wîțh țhe Chorrâl Fâmîly wăș ă very brîef ţrysţ wîth Lord Chorrâl’ş dâughţer. | Aukan the Goliath |
The grey skinned large man grins at Rosa's entrance, simply stating, "I was wondering when you would make your appearance. It is good to see you again."
"Well it seems more discussion is needed before we decide to part ways. Who has connections with other noble families? I only had a connection to Chorral's family." With that being said he flips quickly through the folders looking for names he knows. Finding one he opens it and reads... he grows paler by the more he reads, finally he passes it to Davian while shaking his head.
The last thing reads, ressurectable but body or part of body needs to be recollected.
Rurik Goldbeard
”I’ve worked for the major ones, on and off, over the years. Gold-work or axe-work as the needs arose. Thing is, Chorral owes me gold as of now, and the only man who knew of our deal vanished. So can’t rightly go making a fuss when I’ve nay legal means. But aye...I likely have sort kind of connection one way or another.”
Katherine Dreamborne
Katherine shakes Rosa's hand gently, "Pleasure is mine," she says before blowing a kiss to her, with a knowing gaze.
"Let me see," while looking the papers, "well, all those I knew look very dead. Sadly, I knew only the bad guys. The first I would kill if I had to exterminate their family." She says with a disappointed look.
"My opinion, is that we have a choice. Strike the Surtova, or run and forget this event... for now. I do not know what is our power. I see strong people here, but only a few ones, and I do not know if we are enough to overthrow a country, either by might or by subterfuge. We might need to collect more powers. I'd love to cut some throats, but that would be... missing the larger scope."
Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz
Clara opens another fizzy drink, swishes it around in her mouth, says "Aaaaah!", and then spits it back into a vial.
When the rune-covered dwarf and the hound of hell arrive, Clara greets them with a raised glass and a nod. ”Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz, fizzician-at-large and great-great-granddaughter of Umbilicus Flingflopsparkfizz, the inventor of the Ultimate Fizzy Drink (of which there is some debate as to whether it was best consumed as a beverage or thrown at one’s foes...but about which all agree it was quite fizzy and uplifting).”
When the papers start to get passed around, the gnomish fizzician arches a colorful eyebrow. "Hrmmm?"...and when Katherine says she'd 'love to cut some throats' Clara frowns briefly, thinking, clearly we need to help Ms Dreamborne pick up some new hobbies.
Picking up some of the folders, Clara asks, "Do you know anything about Lady Carona Orlovsky? Her messenger said she’d have some clue as to one of great-grandpapa Umbilicus’ Lost Journals.
"Otherwise, I don't personally have a reason to stay here, but if there's interesting work I might be open to it."
If useful, I’ll take 10 for K. Local = 36 and K. Nobility = 36
Sharda
Sharda takes each file and pours over them, taking in as much as possible. She's been ignoring politics and most of humanity in general for a while and she's trying to catch up with all of the people involved and their intrigues.
"Mother was tangentially related to the family, thankfully for her she died a few years ago and is not embroiled in this." Her faint sad tone turns into a tone that seems to hope as she continues to look through the files, "I hope Step-Father is involved in this. That would be very satisfying."
Rosa Luminasss
"I was wondering when you would make your appearance. It is good to see you again."
"And me you, Aukan"
She says
"Well it seems more discussion is needed before we decide to part ways. Who has connections with other noble families? I only had a connection to Chorral's family."
"Not me, I think by mortal reckoning I'm older than this country. It's hard to tell, Time in the hell's not the same as the prime. But it dose not need to be one of the older nobles. It may be that younger blood can get things back as they should be quicker."
She gets up and reaching over the bar, takes a bottle of Brandy and a glass. She flips 5 gold onto the bar top and walking back bites the cork out of the bottle and spits it away. Siting she says.
"Now one will rule however with out the support of the citizenry, so a good step before you pick one would be div up the files and go ask around what the locals think of them. A bit of market reserch, and who knows you may hear of someone not in the files."
Niche
Niche at last turns his attention from the conversation and finally addresses the drink in his hand. The bottle looks tiny in his giant fist, making it look like a toy of some sort. He takes a swig, and let's the flavours permeate his mouth. After another moment he takes another sip, and then smiles and raises the bottle to Clara.
"That is strangely good. The idea of spice and a cold drink seem like an odd combination, but for some reason it works. Thank you. Much better than that dwarven swill." He suddenly realizes there is now a dwarf present and hastily adds, "No offense," to Rurik.
Turning back to the others he formally greets the newcomers,"Good to meet you, master dwarf."
I couldnt find anything on Rurik's background except a few paragraphs he posted way back. You said he had heard of Niche, so I was going to take a look in order to see if Niche might also know him by reputation.
"And Rosa! We were just talking about you, actually. Speak of the devil, etc, etc, though I dont think most people have ever had a chance to use that phrase quite so literally. On vacation, eh? Perhaps we can talk about relaxation a bit later, and relive old times."
"As for the Chorals; I was less attached, and more of a friend, to the latest Lord Choral. Most of our dealings were informal. Officially, I acted as his Housecarl on occasion, seeing off challengers and such, if they were interesting enough to catch my interest. However, like most of you, I am still owed debts for my service. I would imagine the new nobles would suffer my presence only were I to pledge my services to them. Of course, they would likely insist on oaths and such nonsense beyond even what Lord Choral requested. Not likely to happen."
"It seems we have choices to make; cut our losses and walk away, or make a bolder step forward in the present chaos to make sure we get at the least what is owed us."
"Were we to choose the first, I think the obvious solution would be to enjoy our drinks, reminisce about old times, and then each go our separate ways. So many individuals of reputation in one place would be likely to draw attention in the current climate; and with so much uncertainty, ours is a presence that would gave to addressed."
"However, that does lead nicely into the second point; we do seem to have an interesting group assembled here, whether by intent or happenstance..." he nods to Aukan, "And the truth is that were such a group to work together, they might accomplish a great deal in a place where power has yet to settle in any one place. Definately worth giving some thought."
He continues sipping at his tiny bottle of spiced ale, at the end, using his tongue to try and work out the last few drops.
Rosa Luminasss
Rosa grins at Niche when he talks of later. Bedding a halfgod had its upside.
But she moved her mind back to the here and now.
"Niche, has a very good point, If we worked as a team we could accomplish a lot. If only one of us was of local royal blood. Why we could pick them to be the next ruler, O well"
GM Wolf
Domani Surtova, looks to be a strong lead in the competition for regent of the throne.
Lady Carona Orlovsky, continues to be a staunch supporter of house Rogarvias and opposing selecting any Lord Regent.
House Medvyed is rather neutral in the whole squabbling though could be a useful ally.
House Lodovka apparently has only sent one noble, a young lad to speak on their behalf. The family wants little to do with the throne and the land, as they focus more on maritime activities. (The boys seems rather confident and zealous in doing the opposite of his family, if only he had more backing.)
House Garess has their own sorrow as well, Lord Howlan Garess is a widower and his only son has been lost to the vanishing as well. As the royal family vanished so has the dwarves he had a pact with, his son was with them. (He is looking for adventurers to search the mines of the dwarves more throughly.)
House Lebeda as well as many of the minor nobles support Surtova though still have their own agendas. They all still have their own bid for the position of regent.
Other things you know or heard about:
Skywatch is said to have sealed its gates, no one in or out. High in the Northern Icerime Peaks is a city built around an ancient observatory.
There is dragon blood in the Chorral family. Some say Chorral himself was a red dragon in disguise.
The Conqueror's debt: he had a pact with devils for all his power and it finally came time to pay. In the end it was his whole family that paid.
Another Earthfall is coming, the royal family whisked away to Skywatch to ride out the next catastrophic event.
It really sucks when we have an outage and I forget to save my massive post...
Sharda
Katherine Dreamborne
"I don't like the Surtova, but probably they like me even less, since most of my contracts were removing some of them from this world. I would agree with helping someone become a new ruler, to stabilize the situation, but not a Surtova. The Chorral weren't better, of course, but at least they didn't want me dead." Katherine says, with a rough tone.
Rurik Goldbeard
”All well and good. Especially with a Demi-God and a demon-lord...lady....whatever. Now, I may just be a merc and a Gold-Smith, but what are the houses doing? The nobs left, but most were idjits anyways. Their ministers and whatnot held day to day power. There’s a power vacuum, but I’d bet my last copper that powerful people are already jockeying. Some are likely raising armies. So ‘fore we say who we want, we need to know who is out there. Who is doing what. Who needs our help. And who would even accept it. Aye?”
Rurik sees Niche as being a Demi-God. The nearest thing to divinity that walks the earth. Which makes sense to him, as if demons can walk the earth, why not gods? If Niche has heard of Rurik, it is only because he is an exotic mercenary. A dwarf who can turn into living flame is not something that you come across every day.
Niche
Niche was about to react to the statement calling him a demi-god when his brain registered what the dwarf had called Rosa. He paused for a split second, mentally debating if it might be worth it to see the inevitable reaction from the aforementioned Devil-Lady, but decided that in the interest of avoiding a murder at their first meeting, it might be better to intervene.
"Lady Rosa, draws her lineage from Devils, Mr. Goldbeard. While you or I might not see a considerable difference between the two, I assure you that they do. As a note to everyone, if you'd like to avoid being on the receiving end of some negative attention from her ladyship, I suggest you make a note of it, and ensure you use the proper terminology in the future."
Continuing on immediately, so that Rosa might have a chance to cool off before saying anything, he said,"As for myself, I claim no divine lineage. I am immortal, but I am no god, demi or otherwise. Not yet, at least. Irori was once mortal, just as I was, so in the long run, who knows. As for the royal blood her ladyship mentioned earlier, I have noted in my time, as well as in my studies, that there is no such thing. Every royal line that walks this earth is merely descended from a warlord who conquered and made himself a king. However, given the royals' predilection for incestuous unions, I might be halfway there; being of ogre stock, there is as good a chance my parents were brother and sister, or uncle and niece, as any other combination. Nobody does family like we do."
He carries on, his lips curling into an involuntary smile as he talks, and giving time for his natural charisma to pull the conversation away from the dwarf's verbal misstep, and closer to survival.
"Actually, I've yet to find any other language that has a many words for relations as you'll find amongst ogres. We have a word for a father that is also your grandfather, which is different from a father that is also your uncle, and different again from the word used when your father was also your mother's uncle. I remember trying to draw a genealogy for the monks during my studies. The most patient of them lasted about a day, and I think he'd pulled out almost the whole right side of that dangly mustache he wore by the time he walked out."
Not my geneology, of course. Gods only know who my parents were... he thinks to himself.
Rurik Goldbeard
”Aye, aye. Meant no offense ye ladyship. ‘Ain’t versed in the Planes, so nay need to flay mesoul or whatnot. I mean, that’d be like someone not of the stone calling Konk* Gorl•.”
* Dwarven for Gold that is ruddy in colour.
• Dwarven for Gold that is especially soft and yellow; the colour yellow.
With that, hopefully, out of the way, he turned back to Niche. ”Though ye raise a good point. Every king is just someone with a warlord for an ancestor. Why even go through one of those fookers? Ye’re well spoken enough. An’ old enough to have some wisdom in that head of yers. I say we conquer this ‘ere land and make ye king! Much simpler than giving power to a stranger, aye? And given that ye just don’t die, it won’t matter much about yer tongue being downright confusing with genealogies, given that if anythin’ kills ye there’ll be bigger concerns at hand.”
Niche
"We are a far step from that, Master Dwarf. I think it a bit early to be making any talk of kings. There is a great deal of chaos about, and perhaps it is best to see what we might make of it before setting our sights too high. No matter how mighty, no one can be a king for long without either the people or an army behind him. He fares the best when he has both."
Rosa Luminasss
As the Dwarf talked and then called Rosa by the enemies name she stiffens and her eyes narrow, but then as Niche jumps in and Rurik apologises she relaxed. As she did so she held out her hand and the very large and deadly looking blade which had been by the wall and was not hovering point down just above the dwarfs head. Slowly glided over to her hand, and with a simple thrust she rammed it into the floor of the inn. It cut past wood and stone like butter to stand upright next to her. Blade embedded, Then she took another pull on her cigar and listened as Niche cared on.
Intimidate1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35 Sorry, but Rosa put the wind up me as well. And I write her!
Rurik Goldbeard
Seeing the blade, Rurik did the only thing that came naturally to him when threatened. The runes on his armed glowed, and the gold nearly instantly flowed into a pair of axes in his hands as he got to his feet. As he did so his beard burst into flames and his skin glowed with inner fire.
With a voice that sounded like crackling fire he hissed ”Don’t make me your enemy.”
Well, your Intimidate means that he genuinely believes his life to be in danger. Don’t want PvP, but this is not the kind of character which is going to back down from a fight, especially if his pride or honor is involved..
Davian Dreamspun
The quiet varisian watching all this occur calmly stands up the table to address the two potential combatants.
"Lâdîeş ând genţlemen, țhe fîghț îș noţ wîțh eâch oţher, buţ wîțh țhe uncerţâîn fuţure țhîș land îș doomed țo meeț îf we do noţ fînd ă suîţâble ruler. Şo pleâşe, weâponş down."
Not looking for PvP either, but since Davian has Abassador trait, the cleric is naturally inclined to stop infighting.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Rosa Luminasss
Haha misunderstanding, sorry Rurik that roll was not at you Rurik, but at her sword, to come and behave itself, its why she slammed it into the floor to stop IT from acting. I Don't do PvP like that. Her cuse is her sword that at times acts on its own accord and she struggles to control it.
After Davians words says
"Alright, alright Devian, I know I promised I would control it."
Then addressing Goldeard.
"I must apologise now master Goldbeard. My blade has mind of its own literally! Sometimes it acts in ways I would not have it. Our relationship is some complicated."
A deep evil huffing sound comes form the blade, as if unhappy by what it was hearing.
Sharda
Sharda watches the back and forth between the various egos with a slight smile on her face, Perhaps there will be some 'survival of the fittest' soon. This should be fun.
Davian Dreamspun
Davian nodded encouragement to Rurik and Rosa, as all three sat back down.
Baba, I can't believe that worked, the varsian thought. I was kicking myself for not praying for the sanctuary spell this morning!
Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz
Clara's eyes go wide as her companions seem on the edge of combat, and keep a lingering eye on the blade afterward.
"Are you non-gnomes so eager to rule a kingdom? I can think of six hundred thirteen things I'd rather do, at least. And not all of them are even related to fizzy drinks!
"Anyway, I heard a few interesting rumors about the disappearance of the Rogvarians. Who knows if any are true, but a woman who bought one of my fizzy pops said there is dragon blood in the Chorral family. She suspected Chorral himself was a red dragon in disguise.
"Then a fellow butted in and said he heard it's The Conqueror's debt: Choral had a pact with devils for all his power and it finally came time to pay. In the end it was his whole family that paid.
"And then his partner said he'd heard the Rogvarians believe there's another Earthfall is coming, the royal family whisked away to Skywatch to ride out the next catastrophic event."
She takes a long slosh of a pink, fizzy one, and seems to float slightly off the ground until she BURPs and settles back onto her stool.
Turning to the goliath, she asks, "Old friend, did you have a particular reason to call us all together?"
Katherine Dreamborne
Katherine stares the little interlude amused by the burst of powers of the present ones.
"I wonder who could stop us, if we actually worked together for a common goal..., we could decide, or at least have influence on who will be king after all, if we seek power, I'm in. If we seek vengeance, I'm in. If we seek gold, I'm in".
Aukan the Goliath
A bit at a loss of words he does his best to throw out ideas, "I hadn't even thought of getting into politics. My plan was so to say simple. See if you were interested in getting what was owed us from a treasury or two. Then heading out to some options, but only telling those interested. I don't want to leave a trail for the nobles to track us with."
Matthew G. Smith
With that said a shadow seemed to slip in and stop at the bar entrance. Then it materialized into a suit of full plate mail armor. The purple shadow magic dismissing and a box of sorts appearing at his shoulder. He tips it quickly and enters quickly to the table, faster and quieter than anyone in that armor should have been able to do so. "Trouble, demons. Be here in 8. Stalking not charging. STORM!" The last word is yelled as the purple shadow magic subsides and is replaced with sizzling electricity. Producing a long handled warhammer from the blue magic he turns and goes back to the entrance.
Wolf - Martikio

A wolf man of sorts comes from an empty corner and relays confidently, "We were ready for this, bait you might call it, if you don't want to fight down the shaft or stairs to a mirror. Aukan you have your mission. We need some alive for information." A light turns on in the corner revealing a shaft.
Can anyone see invisibility?
With a jump you drop a good 40 feet before you hit another room, then the mirror. No way to stop unless you were slowing your descent.
Rurik Goldbeard
Not I.
Rurik got to his feet, axes in hand once more. ”We’re to be under attack? Huh. So, Rosa, these friends of yours? Or are they here for...” He looked around at the others. ”...suppose any of ye. Don’t think they’re after me. Oi! Niche. Heard a fook ton about ye. Time to see if ye live up to ye reputation, aye?” He said with a smile.
Rosa Luminasss
Rosa stands and pulls her black blade out the floor.
It grumbles angrily.
"I trust Matthew, if Stalking Daemons have been sent at us then be on your guard. Some can shape shift or go unseen. We go down to the mirror now""
With that she is down the shaft.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz
"Hmmmm. Unseen's a good point...but then that's nothing a little fizzy pop can't handle, right?
"Wait Rosa--if there are stalking demons, I'm inclined to try to ambush them. Perhaps we can learn what they're up to...not to mention collect interesting demon bits to brew new fizzy drinks with!
"I can make me and a few others invisible. Or little. Oh, or big. Or barky...and I'm good at being sneaky anyway. Maybe we clear out the noncombatants here, and try to ambush them right here? What do you all say?"
Assuming most folks agree to stay and fight, I'll drink my cognatogen and my extract of See Invis, and then hand out potions of Invis and Enlarge Reduce and Barkskin (all CL 5) to anyone interested.
.
Then I'll activate my own Invis (via alchemical allocation) and drink my Shield and Expeditious Retreat extracts.
Rosa Luminasss
Rosa stops.
"I was thinking of collateral damage. But, humm. Right your lot get invisible, all be the bait."
With that she pulls tables around so she is standing in the center of four linked tables her Sword ready. Anything that wants to get to her has to come over under or move a table.
Her sword as focus she casts
Protection from Chaos
Ironskin
Detect Thoughts
Seeking the minds of the deamons
Rosa shows no fear just determination even her sword seems to be anticipating a fight.
Katherine Dreamborne
Katherine gladly takes a potion of Reduce Person from Clara. With that, she assumes her hybrid shadowform, becoming partly a shadow.
"I will never refuse a fight. I shall stand with you others, if we want to fight."
With that, the dark half-elf takes her elven spear, and readies for combat.
What grade of lighting is there in the tavern? Dim light or normal light?

Dim light is in this tavern, the few lanterns are not spaced very evenly or even enough to light the room correctly.
Please size yourself correctly and move furniture as you wish. You have 8 rounds...

A bit put off he sighs, "As expected, though my job is done here." With a quick switch to being happy the wolf says, "Happy hunting, once done see you on the other side of the mirror, you have an hour before the spell stops working." With that he moves back to the corner and jumps down the shaft.
Aukan the Goliath
Aukan smiles a perfect smile full of white pearly teeth and with a snap the armor comes over him and his green runed large greatsword is in his hands. He moves quickly to the kitchen door. Before closing the door he offers, "Try to capture at least one, I will do the same. I have another mirror stashed away that will send me on my way to the same place, see you soon." With that the door slams shut and the wood of the door warps from his massive strength.

"Potions please." he simply says as he lifts his visor of his helmet with his off hand and waits for the buffs. Barkskin and invisibility, so 5 minutes of being invisible or until I strike, and +3 to natural armor or +5?
Once he takes the invis potion Clara can see him put his visor down, nod to her, move to one side of the door and hold the long handled hammer with both hands.
Katherine Dreamborne
"Hope you guys won't mind if I turn off some lights."
Katherine drinks the potion, casts Dancing Darkness in the tavern, trying to put one side of the tavern in complete darkness. She then hides in it, spear in hands, and waits. She also tells her companion to hide.

"Well, șome âcţîon âţ lâşţ!" The desnan gathers his belonging, ready to follow the group on their 'hunting trip'.
Rosa Luminasss
As Rosa waits for the others to get ready she starts a death poem
"Come to me warpers of the world, bring your pestilence, madness and insanities of the void . Your wicked nightmares and corruptions, bring them to me. For you will fine no foothold here. No soul to grasp, nor mind too taint or life to take. I am the hammer of law, the blade of justice and the rock of reality. So, come to me warpers of the world and meet your end, For I am doom and I am death."
Ready she waits.
Yep GM you need to open your map to all to use, we are all locked out

"Some action indeed! Hopefully it is something interesting, and not just a couple of Vermlek or Alu and such. Hmm, I'll take that Barkskin enchantment; as for the others... hmm should I go bigger? I do love being 20 ft tall. However, even at night, that might draw the wrong kind of attention. Anyone have anything to help see invisible? And I guess I'll go invisible too, if Rosa is going to be the designated hit-monkey."
While talking to himself, he draws out a wand, and effortlessly activates it in order to cover himself in an invisible mage armour.
UMD: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 32
"Anybody want a hit of Mage Armour?"
GM Wolf
The one at the door slips in with two others at it's back. They split up and go into the rafters. One above the door and two above Rosa. Each window is slowly moved and one enters each window.
Its mouth is littered with a row of razor-sharp fangs. Its back is mottled with sickly patches of bluish-gray fur.
Any actions for Round 8? If you are invisible please put a white circle around your avatar picture on the map.
Sharda
Sharda and her allosaur stiffen up as they smell the intruders enter the inn.
Both have Scent.

Niche waits until seeing if anyone takes him up on the offer to borrow his wand (insert handling of wood joke here), and then after getting it back, quaffs both the Barkskin and Invisibility potions.
Moving to the larger common room, he tests the rafters to make sure they can hold his weight. If it does, he pulls himself up quietly and activates his slippers of spider walking to allow him to crouch down (up), as close as he can to the ceiling.
